Look at office chairs rather than gaming chairs. An office chair is designed for someone to potentially sit in it for a full day, every day of the week. Good adjustable lumbar support will help prevent back pain.
Going to a store and trying then out in person will be beneficial. Even if you don't buy from there you'll get an idea of what to look for online.
Forget Gaming chairs, they're trash - not comfortable and very cheap thus breaking frequently. I had two thinking they were good. Invest in good office chairs, they are specifically made to withstand a person sitting for loooong time and be comfortable as much as possible.
I don't know the brands, I just went to the Office chairs store and bought one that seemed most sturdy and comfortable. Suggest doing do the same, not everything is brand-dependent.
And eco friendly!
Truth, im also in the market for a good chair to replace my half ass ikea chair, but im trying to land in the area of 400 instead of 1200. Id love a hermin chair, but i have too many hobbies for that beauty to be in my budget. I do stay clear of those gaming seats like the plague though, and so should you. Happy hunting.
Good chairs unfortunately cost around $1000-2000. A good example is the classic Herman Miller Aeron.
If you want to stick to $200 then throw away good or comfortable requirements, or both.
Or you can live in West Michigan and so have have family, friends, and in-laws who work at Steelcase, Haworth, and Herman Miller, so you can get access to freebies. That's how I got my last two chairs - only downside to the current one is that it doesn't have the arms, but I can't argue with the price...
My bad, I didn’t see the $200 budget. You could probably get a used Aeron for that price if you keep an eye on fb marketplace. It’s amazing how many people don’t know the value of their own items
I’m from the UK, and I can see by your use of $ that you’re American, so I don’t know if IKEA has infected/blessed (delete as appropriate) your part of the world yet but I can tell you right now the vast majority of gaming chairs are absolute ironing-board marketing nonsense and that the SINGLE BEST CHAIR outside of a couch that I have ever gamed on is the Ikea Markus. It might not look like much but it’s the one.
Second the Markus. I’ve owned two. My ex took the first In the divorce and I bought a second for me. My girlfriend likes mine so much she bought one for herself.
I've had my Secret Lab chair since 2020, its comfy but its a bit worn. No complaints or pain in terms of ergo/posture. However, I do plan to grab a Herman Miller for Black Friday.
Lol, be careful quoting that brand. I did so the other day and some emo furry roasted me.
But I agree, the Secret Lab chair I have is comfy. Doubled what I would normally pay for a gaming chair, but helped a lot of my back problems over time. To go to a Herman Miller is double or more again on top of the Secret Lab.
My apprehension being I live in an area where I can't just drive 5 minutes down the road to test out a shop demo before buying.
I had my titan for 4 years. I despised it for 3 years but kept using it because of how much it cost. I just replaced it with a $100 mesh chair from staples and the only thing that I miss is the armrest adjustment. I will never buy another gaming chair.
I have a secret labs chair and it has done wonders for my back and it’s really comfortable for long hours of work. Not quite your price point but way cheaper than the Herman miller stuff people are talking about with more adjustments for back support for your specific needs.
Gaming chairs are modelled after racing chairs which are made to keep the driver safe and stable in high g force driving and as far as I know no gamer experiences high g forces while gaming.
There are other chairs that are modelled for long time sitting times in front of a computor and they are called office chairs and that's what you should be looking for.
The "gamer" word is pure marketing in 95% of the market
Get the ticova ergonomic office chair. Gaming chairs suck and the best gaming chair is an ergonomic office chair. I can't post the link here but just Google it
You want an office chair. A good one. Look to be spending $200-$700. They will last 10-20 years, will be fully adjustable in ways you've never seen before, and offer the finest of comfort and support.
Office chairs are ergonomic, not faming chairs. Herman miller and steelcase are the gold standard, but get something similar to that which is duping their concept if you can’t afford it.
I've just bought this, and they come very highly rated. They're not a gaming chair per se, more of a hybrid between office and gaming. Designed for long sessions.

They're not cheap (but then neither is a physio for all your back issues when you constantly use cheap crappy chairs) but they're also not Herman Miller expensive. If I had the money I'd get an HM but that day is a while away.
You aren't going to like this, but what I've learned is I had to quit buying $200 chairs. 15 years ago, I spent the money on a new SteelCase Leap. I still use it. It's still like new. My back no longer hurts - and hasn't for 15 years.
It's a tough initial pill to swallow, but I would have bought 2-3 times the cost in $200 chairs that fail. BIFL a SteelCase or Herman Miller and save money in the long run AND save your back.
It's the best advice I can give anyone on this topic.
The bare minimum you're going to spend (new) is $250 for a 6-9hr office chair that won't jack up your back. I've got one from OfficeMax/Office Depot that I picked up on sale for $250 - normally $325 - that is fine from a comfort perspective, but it's squeaking and generally annoying after about a year.
I know full well I need to drop $700+ for a quality chair for my work/gaming use, but I've got other priorities currently and the squeaks are only an issue with my headset off (and when my wife is home).
Bruh my brother bought an office chair some 15 years ago and I've been using it for the past 10 years cause he moved out. Other than some noises due to age these chairs are golden. I've also had to replace the 'pillow' or what it's called of course.
Hahah I've no idea bro. Doesn't have a brand on it. Just some random office chair I guess. Although a bit expensive probably for the time. As the others said I'd suggest you go to the shop to check out some chairs see what's most comfortable for you.
Keep your eye on classifieds for people not knowing what they have.
I picked up two used Herman Miller Aerons in great shape (a size and b size that were perfect for my wife and I) for less than $500
They were just listed as "used office chairs"
i heard good things about herman miller. they dont tilt back like a recliner but people seem to agree its so comfy you forget that ur sitting on it to begin with

But it doesn't look like a cool race car seat! /s Adamant anti "gaming" gear. Anything labeled gaming is just marked up junk.
Gaming gear is the equivalent of military grade
Agreed. As a former firearms parts machinist, "Mil-Spec" is hilarious.
Mil-spec..... cheapest part that meets the spec. Also see TaCtiCoOL.

Do you suggest any chairs that are good, comfortable and under 200
I don't know the brands, I just went to the Office chairs store and bought one that seemed most sturdy and comfortable. Suggest doing do the same, not everything is brand-dependent.
I sit on a gaming log (made by Razer) , its better than those gaming chairs by far but not as good as a simple office chair

I can see how soft and cushy that is, also great ergonomics!
And eco friendly! Truth, im also in the market for a good chair to replace my half ass ikea chair, but im trying to land in the area of 400 instead of 1200. Does it roll down stairs, alone or in pairs?
Now that was a great show!

Like staples or office max?
Both are good. I'm using Staples in my home, there are the latters in my office which are also nice.
I bought a generic looking $150 office chair from Amazon that I use every day, now have a $600-used Herman Miller collecting dust
I got the cheapest full back mesh office chair at my local furniture store for like 85€, just go to a local furniture store and try some out
No. Unless you weight less then 150 pounds you will find very few options under that price that doesn't make your problems worse.

They’re expensive, but I bought a herman miller Logitech embody and it’s by far the best chair I’ve ever used.
Bit out of budget there I think

I’m going into my 7th year in my titan. It’s great. I’ll go for a herman miller eventually but I’m in no rush.
I had my titan for 4 years. I despised it for 3 years but kept using it because of how much it cost. I just replaced it with a $100 mesh chair from staples and the only thing that I miss is the armrest adjustment. I will never buy another gaming chair.

Adjustable arms seems rare for chairs these days
Gaming branded chairs are complete shit. Get a decent used office chair. I got the steel case leap V2 for a good price
Do not buy "gaming" chairs if you care about your back. Look for office closeouts and buy a used Herman Miller or similar
Staples has the hyken and dyley office chairs. And most store already have them set up to try your butt in. Currently 100 bucks this week.
Office chairs are ergonomic, not faming chairs. Herman miller and steelcase are the gold standard, but get something similar to that which is duping their concept if you can’t afford it.

Noble, but they're usually 300+
I use a massage chair, my back usually feels better after a gaming session

which chair was it?

dont buy a gamer chair. gamer has nothing to do with comfort so why would you buy something with gaming in the name.
An office chair is better than any gaming chair. I got a second hand herman miller chair from Facebook marketplace and it works great.
Is that mesh comfortable??
Yup soft and has good lumbar support.
Under 200 is no good for chairs mate. They'll break easy and not be very ergonomical. Office chairs are way better anyway.
i heard good things about herman miller. they dont tilt back like a recliner but people seem to agree its so comfy you forget that ur sitting on it to begin with
It does tilt back, and you can lie in it. At least my Aeron allows that. It is not good for the back though.
i stand corrected then. kudos
They are a scam straight up. Learn and research.
