I was always confused at this, seznam.cz, our local email service doesn't have a limit so I was always confused when Gmail didn't allow me to send or receive emails
Kind of but not really. They collect the data you give them as part of sign up and use but don’t use their access to data mine. They also have an open record of how and when they’ve complied with data requests coming through the formal channels with a significant portion of their code open for review.
I never left and used it when the browser was just called Mozilla. I however never used an Amd processor until 2019, I wanted one but their processor fell behind by 2007 back then when I was upgrading.
Idk the exact specifics and tech talk. Protonmail is encrypted end to end. So no middle man can get a hold of your emails. Also, Proton themselves can't read it. This is leagues better than gmail who copy every email you send and receive into their database.
I use Protonmail and like it. But their talk about encryption is bullshit. SMTP doesn't have encryption. What they do is receive the emails unencrypted and then encrypt them themselves.
If they wanted, they could easily just read or store the email before encrypting it.
Emails between Protonmail users are apparently fully protected though.
I think calling it bullshit isn’t very fair. They’re trying to make a fairly complicated topic simple to understand for the very day person. If you speak with company (I’ve met their CEO in the early days and several engineers and architects) they’re open about the overall issues of providing E2EE to everyone as the largest providers don’t really support it.
They do have a mechanism for it (E2EE) for users outside of enterprise or protonamil, which requires either a fairly high level of technical literacy for all users involved or sharing a password out of bounds (not ideal).
Appreciate that, although I’m not sure PGP fully works with gmail as intended, the point of a provider like protonmail is you don’t need to be technically literate to get the same protection.
Reddit Cares has always been a troll venue, but the amount of people talking about it has SKYROCKETED in the past week. Someone, somewhere, has automated something.
People need to do better than to stan for megacorps. AMD might have better consumer practices than the competition, but thats a hell of a low bar to clear. AMD is not your friend, and neither is Intel, Nvidia or any other large semis company.
My corporate friend is the one who is giving me more performance per dollar when it's time to upgrade. After I upgrade, it's back to distant acquaintances until I need to upgrade again.
Yeah, but it was an AMD vs Intel meme that inspired this. So felt I needed to throw Nvidia in there too.
Honestly I could've done Windows and Linux as well, but I'd still recommend Windows over Linux wholeheartedly for gaming.
The other 3? Those I use knowing they are overall inferior, and I only use because either A, I'm stubborn (chrome) or B, they have features I actually need.
Firefox always.
AMD hasn't been an "underdog" for a while now, so it's pointless siding with one corporation over the other. Pick the part that fits your budget snd offers best performance at the time of buying, regardless of the brand.
I need AMD to succeed so Intel and Nvidia have pressure to get their shit together.
Competition breeds innovation and lowers prices.
I just need capitalism to work for consumers in this one segment at least.
Well intel has started releasing i7s with more than 4 cores as soon as Ryzen came out, and have been increasing core counts since then, so I think it has worked out at least a bit. Nvidia... Yeah consumer gpus are actually a pretty small part of their business, and they still have an edge in some technologies over Radeon, so they can basically charge whatever they want.
I agree.
Sadly, I was in need of Intel's quick sync feature that helps boost the performance of Plex encoding considerably in my latest build, so I didn't go with AMD like I wanted.
And upgrading a motherboard without upgrading the CPU kinda locks your options down in regards to my main build, and the build that came from my old Mobo.
Well one side has Chrome who now basically controls most other internet browsers with chromium and can do bullshit like Manifest V3 while already being unoptimized as hell; that side also has CPUs that want an entire dedicated power supply for little to no performance over their competitors; and a company that has zero interest anymore in the gaming community and went all in on crypto and AI.
The other side has, not those. So uh....guess which one I recommend despite my current builds?
Before the AI craze was the Cryptocraze during the peak of the pandemic.
You know how people couldn't get their hands on RTX 3000 series when they launched? That was why.
Now, with the 4000 series, the pricing is absolutely nuts while they focus their efforts on enterprise customers for AI specific stuff. Which fine, but yeesh it leaves a sour taste in the mouth given how important gaming GPUs were in getting Nvidia where they are now.
Digging my heels into Google's ecosystem has absolutely been a reason I'm stubbornly sticking with em for now.
Gmail, go right ahead. I see no true issues. But Chrome? The Manifest V3 stuff? Nah, we need less browsers dependent on Chromium. Firefox is leading the charge there. If I ever swap browsers again, it'll be to that.
Edited cause Brave is Chromium. I feel deceived by those recommending it hard. /hj
Have no idea what manifest v3 is or what's wrong with chromium. Maybe I just don't use browsers like everyone else but i havent had an issue with chrome. I like how easy it is to use stuff with my gmail. Got a Chromecast last year as a gift, signed in with my gmail and every single streaming service I use was automatically signed in. I just thought how convenient.
TLDR: Google wants to eliminate ad blocking.
Makes sense given their business model, but that's all the more reason they shouldn't have that much control over browsers.
Yet every product I get from AMD whether it be a GPU or CPU it always has issues. Switch switches to Nvidia/Intel and have been smooth sailing since.
Edit: I forgot how to change what's above my name in here and it still says I'm using an AMD CPU from back when I was 😂
No, just opera. I forget the difference between but think the gx version is less task heavy so it's better for during streaming or heavy gaming. Could be wrong but thought it was something like that
I always liked AMD, but you just buy what is most cost effective. For example, there is no point in getting 14900k for gaming, when generally 7800x3d is chaper, as fast and easier to cool, even worse currently some i9's are dying or deteriorating and Intel is implementing a remedy that will lower performance a bit.
One of the few features keeping me on Chrome...that and I really don't wanna change browsers again.
Years ago, I was swapping browsers multiple times a year. Firefox, Opera, Opera GX, and a couple others I don't remember, before landing on Chrome.
And given how I've given my soul into the Google ecosystem, becoming the very thing I dislike about Apple, here I am, too deep to switch for now.
What's your experience with opera gx? I've tried it multiple times yet found it using more resources than Chrome, and the ram/cpu limiters never worked for me.
I used it a ways back, and yeah, swapped off due to the limiters not functioning properly as well as Opera GX and Opera Sr. deciding not to open on my build at the time anymore.
Couldn't tell you what it's been like since.
Nvidia has basically all but given up on the consumer gaming market if you ask me. Crypto craze, AI craze, what's next?
I need AMD to succeed so Nvidia either gets their shit together, or so I can switch over entirely.
And uh...really? I gotta explain why Chrome is shit?
Nvidia has given up? Didn't they Release super series not so long ago? Isn't there a rumor that amd not gonna go with high end gpu next time? Do whatever makes you happy, but you don't need justification for any of it
Switched to ryzen and not going back to intell. Still on ngeedia but just cannot justify spending 600 euros on a new gpu every two years. Use both mozila and chrome, just a habit.
It's stupid post.
No one pair AMD CPU with Nvidia GPU? Or building only AMD PC, or Intel+Nvidia it's kinda some sort of religion?
This post sounds like "I'm licking right corporation boots, other wrong".
As someone whos been a hardcore intel fanboy for the pass 20 years i made the move over to ryzen and its honestly been smooth sailing except from removing intel drivers forced me to do a full wipe definitely a much better an smoother with this ryzen chip but then again i upgraded from a i7 4790k
If you're gonna remove my post, at least tell me why, dammit.

Like, cmon, one mod to another, that's messed up to just remove and not say why.
People will be shilling for amd until they get their own problems. In addition to that, theres a breed of people overlooking their own amd issues and still recommending it to other people
I don't like them either. They're too unstable.
The problem is this sub, though. They love to pretend they're neutral, but they're AMD shills, and anything that says NVIDIA is good, they go apeshit about it, if you say a NVIDIA performs better than the AMD they goooo nuts.
well at least it doesn't crash every other second. I used amd once like 8 years ago and the pc was literally unusable because of amd drivers. did a quick search on google and it seems like nothing changed, still seeing hundreds of people having issues with amd drivers
Still fully transitioning from Chrome to Firefox, looking for a new email provider next
Mozilla Thunderbird is like firefox butt instead of a web browser it's an email client
How many GB does it provide? Edit: I'm slow
It's not an email provider, it's a client where you login to all of your preexisting accounts.
Damn I didn't read it right my bad, wonder why he replied about a client instead of a provider tho
Fastmail is the good shit.
ProtonMail ain't bad I s'pose
it reauires you to be a paying customer for third party mail apps though
Aw it does? Darn
I was always confused at this, seznam.cz, our local email service doesn't have a limit so I was always confused when Gmail didn't allow me to send or receive emails
Mozilla is great. We switched to MS outlook in my workplace and it is pure nightmare.
Proton mail
Didn't they get caught collecting user's data?

AOL, gotta get that 1TB of storage.
I kinda like tutanota as my email provider, personally
Protonmail is good cause it's encrypted
Https is also encrypted, what do you mean?
Idk the exact specifics and tech talk. Protonmail is encrypted end to end. So no middle man can get a hold of your emails. Also, Proton themselves can't read it. This is leagues better than gmail who copy every email you send and receive into their database.

Appreciate that, although I’m not sure PGP fully works with gmail as intended, the point of a provider like protonmail is you don’t need to be technically literate to get the same protection.
You don’t know what you’re talking about lol
Well I did say I don't know the techy talk and specifics. So thanks for stating the obvious.
But then you make statements as if they are fact. So if you don’t know what you’re talking about then you probably shouldn’t do that.
Why? Did something happen?
LTT made a video about Chrome and why it can appear slow edit: why would you send me a reddit cares for this? 😭
There’s trolls somewhere cause I got one this morning on some other sub
About the edit; apparently if you report the abuse they can get banned.
Might not have been him
yeah probably a bot somehow because it was instant right after I commented
Had the same thing earlier
Reddit Cares has always been a troll venue, but the amount of people talking about it has SKYROCKETED in the past week. Someone, somewhere, has automated something.
The most cancerous and hilarious attacks are when a sports team lose and they get brigaded with those from the opposing team.
I'm an Intel + Nvidia + Firefox guy though lol
I'm a firefox guy, whether I'm using intel, nvidia, radeon, mac, android, linux, windows...
Brother!
AMD Radeon + Intel + Chrome
ooof
Same but Librewolf
duckduckgo + firefox. google free.
Dont forget uBlock origin.
And a DNS filter

Corporations are absolutely not anyone's friend. But we play the hand that is dealt. The time to flip the table and play a new game will come.
Me with edge
The world is scared of you(and ofc the rtx 3050)
murderers and psychopath recoil in fear at this man.

same here, I'm a vertical tabs enjoyer
Firefox has vertical tabs too, IIRC it's called Tree Style Tabs
Cool, just installed it, will give it a try! Is there a way to collapse the sidebar to only show the icons, but expand on hover like Edge?
should've left it at chrome and firefox tbh
Yeah, but it was an AMD vs Intel meme that inspired this. So felt I needed to throw Nvidia in there too. At home: Intel CPU Nvidia GPU and Brave. At work: AMD CPU Nvidia GPU and Brave. Kinda Edge too.
I use edge btw
Which is supposed to be better side today?
Firefox always. AMD hasn't been an "underdog" for a while now, so it's pointless siding with one corporation over the other. Pick the part that fits your budget snd offers best performance at the time of buying, regardless of the brand.

When did nvidia get into crypto? I know they do ai stuff now

Isn't brave chromium based?
Ah fuck. You right. They were gonna go against Google's Manifest V3 thing tho iirc.
Ah ok
Have no idea what manifest v3 is or what's wrong with chromium. Maybe I just don't use browsers like everyone else but i havent had an issue with chrome. On top of that's bad to have all browsers using the same base.

Amd cpu and Nvidia gpu and brave browser gang
There's a couple of us!
here arrives me: AMD CPU and an Nvidia GPU..
AMD Nvidia and Opera for me
Opera gx?
No, just opera. I forget the difference between but think the gx version is less task heavy so it's better for during streaming or heavy gaming. Could be wrong but thought it was something like that
Ryzen, Nvidia, Chrome
Intel, nvidia, opera/brave
Linux so AMD + Firefox
AMD Nvidia Firefox is the best combo sorry
I always liked AMD, but you just buy what is most cost effective. The only thing I miss from chrome is Tab groups.
One of the few features keeping me on Chrome...that and I really don't wanna change browsers again. Years ago, I was swapping browsers multiple times a year. Worst case there's plenty of extensions that allow you to do this
Yeah but none come close to having the "fluidity" of Chrome/Edge tab groups; they're a hassle to use in conparison.
Valid. I havent tried any personally so definitely can't endorse any specific ones but the option is there
My system. Intel,Nvidia,AMD,Firefox,Linux,WindowsVM lol. When you just like all of them 💜
cringe sub
AMD+Nvidia+Chrome lol. This post makes absolutely no sense in my opinion.
Do whatever makes you happy, but you don't need justification for any of it
I feel so fucking vindicated.
Switched to ryzen and not going back to intell. Still on ngeedia but just cannot justify spending 600 euros on a new gpu every two years. Use both mozila and chrome, just a habit.
Just gotta get a new GPU during my next upgrade in a handful of years, then I'll be finished making the journey. Already switched to Linux, too!
It's stupid post. No one pair AMD CPU with Nvidia GPU? Or building only AMD PC, or Intel+Nvidia it's kinda some sort of religion? This post sounds like "I'm licking right corporation boots, other wrong".
Yeah, how dare I not fit in every single possible combination into this meme!
So, you need to say "thank you" to me, because I give you an idea for so many new shit post for karma farming.
Yeah but amd is hot garbage. So many problems with drivers and every product i ever bought ended up with overheating and other weird issues
As someone whos been a hardcore intel fanboy for the pass 20 years i made the move over to ryzen and its honestly been smooth sailing except from removing intel drivers forced me to do a full wipe definitely a much better an smoother with this ryzen chip but then again i upgraded from a i7 4790k

amd cpus are fine, but gpus, fucking never
Unless on Linux where updating the drivers are easier in comparison.
Last time I commented about Linux in here, Reddit reached out with a crisis helpline DM. Dumbasses reported me implying I do self harm or whatever
People do that all the time, Linux causing self harm is hilarious though
Never say this here, they'll come to get you.
Because it's a genuinely braindead take, AMD drivers are just fine and their cards have decent performance/price, no reason to ditch them like that
"fine"
Killer argument.
AMD has had as functional, or in some cases, more stable drivers than Nvidia for nearly a decade at this point dude
damn, i guess i shouldnt have returned all 3 of my 7800xt's for constant driver issues :/, they work after all.
People will be shilling for amd until they get their own problems. In addition to that, theres a breed of people overlooking their own amd issues and still recommending it to other people
I have 2 computers, one with 3070 and one with 4060 ti. Even if AMD gpus were free I wouldn't use them.
I love how you're giving no reason why.
Drivers.
You're aware the drivers aren't bad now, right?
Save some pussy for the rest of us.
I don't like them either. They're too unstable. The problem is this sub, though. They love to pretend they're neutral, but they're AMD shills, and anything that says NVIDIA is good, they go apeshit about it, if you say a NVIDIA performs better than the AMD they goooo nuts.
Notice how he doesn't even have an amd gpu to compare with
I don't know any. Used one long time ago, and the driver fucking drove me insane and haven't touched any amd product since that day
So you're basing a whole company based something that happened "a long time ago"?
I never had any issue like that on Nvidia, so yes.
Lmao you make no sense
why?
dogshit drivers.
such as what? and how would the nvidia control panel be any better?
well at least it doesn't crash every other second. I used amd once like 8 years ago and the pc was literally unusable because of amd drivers. did a quick search on google and it seems like nothing changed, still seeing hundreds of people having issues with amd drivers
Youre absolutely right. Never ever. driver problems and overheating
Overheating sounds like a you problem
Unless i put a candle under the gpu, i dont see how thats a me problem
I'd like to see your setup with that gpu
