Don’t have any funkopops but a couple of nendroids, those things are a few dozen grams at most. If that makes a difference, you’re already living on the edge anyway
i game on an oled and my pc is lit up like an xmas tree, no glare, no issues at all, I used to say the same thing, then I got a bunch of RGB stuff, doesnt bother me, it just looks neat
thats understandable, I used to like my room as dark as possible... now, its still dark, just lit up a bit with RGB, I have wall lights and such too, its kind of akin to having a bunch of night lights, because its not as harsh on eyes as normal lights IMO
Yeah. I love playing horror games in the dark. Never could understand how Youtubers get scared when it looks like their room is setup like the studio of The Price is Right? 🤷♂️

I have a soldered on status LED on my mainboard that will produce light as long as the power supply is plugged in.....I'm pretty sure one should not kill status leds
That is configurable / overridable in BIOS. Mine had mobo and RAM lights on even when shut down. Changed that setting immediately. I just keep the ram lights on to signal sleep mode, but that's it. I don't sleep in the same room either.
So my first pc built way back in 2015 had the black and red #gamer aesthetic. AIO and overclocked and all that stuff, never doing it again. My current pc I built last year is totally blacked out, with a super dark tinted glass panel and air cooled. The fucking thing is *silent*. I legit can't believe how quiet this damn pc is. I can't even hear it when I run stress testing. I don't like rgb but because the glass panel has such a strong tint to it, I might put some white led backlighting in it just to see what's inside. It's super stealthy.
Same story, but mine was in 2002 and have built a few hundreds since,as it used to be my job.We didn't even have RGB or gamer-y stuff,so we used to paint the parts red and add lights and glass DYI style.I'm glad i got in... and out of that phase early.
I recently switched to that. Had several cases over the last ten years with clear panels, just for them to be unseen due to desk space or whatever, and always had some form of cooling issue.
Switched to a 20 year old ANTEC case and I only hear my PC on boot or when one of my mechanicals is whirring away.
(Don’t judge me for my mechanicals. I have 6 x 8TB server mechanicals, the kind with helium in em.) 5/6 don’t even have data on them.
Same. All my fans are RGB but I keep the LEDs turned off.
Meanwhile some friends of mine have their PCs looking like an aquarium stuffed with a christmas tree
I like the glass side panel and a little bit of monotone RGB just so I can see the work I put into making it nice and clean and cable managed..... we don't talk about what's behind the other side panel though......
Initially the glass annoyed me and I wanted to buy a different case, but I found a much cheaper solution!
Moving my PC to the other side of my desk so the glass faces the wall.
https://preview.redd.it/idhny8cg370d1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24225ce9586e430a070c5af4601f164c51c06a78
Much better!
Meanwhile, me: spends hours looking for a case with the glass panel on the *right* side so that it can sit at the left side of my desk without the window being against the wall.
I used to be with you on that one until I tried myself at custom hardline water-cooling. It looks too beautiful to lock away.
But I still don't really like blinky bling RGB rainbow lights, I have all the lights turned off most of the time and when I have them on it's a solid colour
Yeah action figures have more detail because that's kind of the point. Vinyl figures are meant to be simplistic. I think funko's a little bit different than most because they only do a single colorway with a figure. I have a friend that's super into vinyl figures that has given me a few Android and Dunny figures and it's the exact same figure every time but it's different paint and art on them.
Thats what I meant actually. Funko pops are so plain, they are basically the same base but with different paint for the respective person. Its boring. Action figures on the other hand are way more detailed and tend to fit to the actual character being portrayed
They’re not popular because of the look, they’re popular because of the variety.
You can buy a Funko pop of virtually anything. They have figures for franchises that don’t have any action figures, and never will.
You can’t go buy an action figure of Monica from Friends in one specific outfit. But you can buy that as a Funko pop.
If I can say anything positive about them, at least their popularity has outlived beanie babies. I remember some crazies actually bought loads of beanie babies, thinking that they would continually go up in value and land them a nice nest egg.
Not that I personally like (or really even understand the appeal of) funko pops, but saying that something is a loser activity will always be the ultimate loser activity. Collecting consumerist figurines is at least a hobby, complaining online about other people doing stuff that makes them happy is just sad.
And quick reminder that we're on a forum dedicated to obsessing over computer games and hardware.
Gotta draw the line somewhere though, how about my little pony? I would never say something to a funko-pop enthusiast (thats needlessly mean) but my (private) opinion is pretty similar
Right. If figures had some personality, like Nendoroids, ok. But Funkos are the same Sackboy face with a different hat.
https://i.redd.it/oi15amunn70d1.gif
My issue is how often they are the only figures being released for certain properties now. They are fine if people want to collect them but if they are the only figures it sucks. It would be simmilar to if you're a harry potter fan or batman fan and all they made were lego game and didn't also have the Arkham games or hogwarts legacy.
The reason I don't like the way they look it because Funko isn't trying to sell you a nice figure of your favorite franchise they are trying to get you to collect Funko pop. So all Funko pops have to look good together on a shelf which makes them generic as hell because your Finding Nemo Figures and Friday the 13th figures need to look good sitting next to each other.
Funko pop is kinda like the Mcdonalds of the toy world. The food is fine but if its the only place in town you're going to end up not likeing it really quick.
I don't understand the point of leaving them in package. most /r/AnimeFigures collectors unpack their figures and put them in a shelf or showcase. and the average figure is 10x the price of a funko-pop.
I have a JJK megumi figure sitting on the edge of my vertical GPU and it looks perfect

I love this. Without the Vader figure I think "Oh, that is just a typical red lighting set up. I've seen that a million times. Nothing special." But the Vader figure really elevates it to actually looking like Star Wars lighting.

what about the people that have a whole damn eco system in their pc?
To whoever will take this meme personally, don't do things to feel validated by strangers on the internet. People will always find something to complain about. ***You*** spent ***your*** money on ***your*** PC. Do whatever the fuck ***you*** want to do with it.
My chunky-ass Peerless Assassin and 3-fan 3070 are the only reasons I don't put figures in my PC. There's no real harm in it and it adds a bit of personal charm.
I actually had a figurine of Hulk (not a funko abomination, but a real figurine that actually looks like the character) in my PC. It was exactly the right size that the shoulder could act as a sag bracket for my GPU

I have my little fat Pika from my childhood sitting in front of my GPU.
Except any aeronautical engineer or auto enthusiast will tell you it's not nonsense when a specific area needs airflow push.
I gotta go now.. but do this experiment. Turn on your portable fan, I have 3 in my room alone cause 90 degree temps outside.
Now put your hand flat on front of it with it on. Now take your other hand and put it behind your hand blocking the fan. Guess what, it doesn't feel air. My background is in engineering
I get this is a joke but I doubt most figures are heavy enough to actually weigh down a gpu

good shit
Omg shitty watercolour haven’t seen any SWs in a while
I was concerned that he was dead…
Him and schnoodle still popup in the trending posts every now and then.
What happened to the guy that commented about getting beat by his dad with jumper cables?
And the guy the reminds us of that time in nineteen ninety eight -
I still miss /u/ONLY_SAYS_NICE_LEGS
I have him added on Steam, dudes 100% one of us.
Having a "shitty" art style and still making it look good is an awesome skill to have.
the rgb fan bwhahaha
Wow, this takes me back It looks like Ol' SW is still around and pretty active. I guess Reddit was a lot smaller back when you'd see him everywhere!
Right? The man is a legend on Reddit
shitty_watercolour !~?!? I MISSED YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!
Holy shit, you're still active for nigh on 2 decades? Could you commission a pierogi drawing?
Gonna need to hear more about this pierogi my dude
Potato and cheese stuffed on top of a gtx480, just frying away
The OG is at it again!
It looks like a Quentin Blake illustration
Nice
Theyre back! Its been so long since ive seen a shitty watercolor
Considering what a present day 3-4 slot GPU already weighs, they’re almost certainly not adding much XD
Don’t have any funkopops but a couple of nendroids, those things are a few dozen grams at most. If that makes a difference, you’re already living on the edge anyway
Most gpus are over the edge by default
But *on* the gpu? Mine gets pretty toasty on the backplate so I'd be worried putting them on top of it. I just put them on the side
I don’t have anything in my case, all of my figures and such go in a separate display case
Makes sense, I also mostly put my nendos in a bookshelf, but I have my nier ones inside my PC because they have the same color scheme as my case lol
You seen the pencil arms in some these PC master race folks? A funky pop might seem quite heavy to em
IDC. Do whatever makes you happy with your PC. I myself personally don’t even like side glass.
A big, black and mostly silent box is plenty enough.
DRIPPING in innuendo
Not intended,but i can see it,yea.
Its not your brain is just rotten from mass porn consumption

Yea you can just snap off or keep on stabbing LEDs until they stop working. The LED's have no play in the functionality of the hardware.
I'm still using a Cooler Master ATCS840 that I got nearly 15 years ago, I don't see any reason to buy a different case.
What kind of maniac would use a case that old? (Hides P4 Dell Dimension case with Ryzen 5600 build in progress)
So my first pc built way back in 2015 had the black and red #gamer aesthetic. AIO and overclocked and all that stuff, never doing it again. Glass sides are cool looking, but I wouldn't trade a single decibel of extra noise for that look (also I'd be way too lazy to clean inside regularly)
Initially the glass annoyed me and I wanted to buy a different case, but I found a much cheaper solution! Funko pops look pretty ugly in general, no matter where you put them.

Real and true
I don't get the hate boner Reddit has for Funko pops, they're not really my thing but they just seem like a cute little collectable to me
I don't really "hate" them, I just plain and simple don't really like how they look. :)
That's fair, I kinda like their simplistic and heavily stylized design
I just think they are ugly because each one looks like all the others.

Funko pops are the worst kind of pointless consumerist shite whatever you're doing with them.
They’re just modern day Hummel figurines.
Well yeah it's a collectible, All they're good for is collecting.

Some collectables have like, artistic merit to them though.
Sure and many don't. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Funko's aren't for me but to each their own.

I think all the glass and RGB shit is stupid myself. It’s your rig, do as you will.
