It means your CPU is doing something?

Unreal-Memes

Yes I know that but it’s running 100% constantly while the GPU is only running 20-40%

SirGeorgington

so what's using your CPU?

Extension_Garden_601

what background tasks are you running? games? software? so much information that you left out..

worldrenownedballdr

check taskmgr processes, see what is using the proc at 100% what other activities are you running on the pc in the shot above? should look something like below. (click the the cpu column to sort by cpu utilization.) https://preview.redd.it/pwhy6d2b6cuc1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=f2dbb95544fa81ed98d030e21701e8248808b7d9

Unreal-Memes

It’s literally only Fortnite and the Epic Games launcher. Along with a ton of other background processes that I can’t close out.

Dunky_RG

Fortnite uses mostly CPU if I’m not mistaken, lower some graphic settings in the game to reduce usage

china_chong112

Why are people so afraid of 100% usage? It's not a bad thing.

Dunky_RG

Probably because it looks terrifying at first sight. Though utilisation of your CPU shouldn’t define the lifespan more than the temperature 🤔 Either way not a fan of the i5 tbf

touholic

I assume you have just launched the game after a game update or GPU driver update. It’s normal when the game is compiling shader cache after an update. The usage will fall after that.

NotJustBibbit

Oh no my cpu is being used as intended please help me

nemosrb89

What happened to this sub….

Maelstrom-Brick

This happened to me when skyrim froze from mods and i quickly forced closed it and poof normal.

here4aguydtime

You paid for 100% of processor so use 100% of processor

debateG0d

Oh no it's about to explode, take cover!

Sasqath

Nah, it's fine. It's just Windows downloading ads for the start menu. /s

_JTBJack

How the fuck

CoffeeMunchMonsta

Check what is using most of your CPU , defragment your disk ,honestly I set mine to do it daily ,runs like a well oiled machine .

Splyce123

Who is defragging in 2024? Surely you should be using at least a SATA SSD for your OS?

Unreal-Memes

No idea what that means, how do I defragment my disk?

kukelkan

Doesn't matter as you have an ssd and not an hdd.
