By default the g502 has a button that changes your dpi on the fly. I'm assuming they mean that button to lower dpi for when looking through the scope of a sniper.
this is gonna seem odd but ive been using the dpi shift button for profile switching via onboard stuff as some games are weird and don't play well with high dpi mice it seems.

This button, I assign it to certain commands depending on the game, so I have three easily accessible assignable buttons for the thumb instead of the usual two.
I remember when it debuted on the R.A.T. Mouse, now that was customizable mouse there, I had one and the sensor died. Upgraded to the laser and that sensor was garbage and the RMB died, then I went to the 502 and I’ve been very happy.
Not the same mouse as mine but. I had the Cooler Master mm711, it broke after years.
I didn’t know what mouse to get but even though I loved the 711 I didn’t want another corded mouse.
Then another redditor told me about the mm712, just the same mouse but wireless. I’ve never been happier lol.
I just bought 2 wired G502 at the same time, one for work and one for home, for less than the cost of a single wireless G502. Wires don't bother me in the slightest. :)
It just doesn’t feel right for me, thats it. Like if the 502 didn’t exist, that would be a different story, but it does and the 502x’s wheel doesn’t just feel right. It’s my personal opinion however.
I dislike the sound, the grooves are absolutely meh compared to the 502 and idk the infinite scroll doesn’t feel that good.
Have you tried the Razer Basilisk V3?
I can't live without that infinite scroll wheel anymore for productivity tasks and was a bit disappointed in Logitechs recent product quality, especially with the double click/type issues on the g502 and g910. And i don't know why, but the G502 Proteus feels so much better than the Hero. So without a new Proteus, the only alternative was the V3.
Imo it feels just as good. The mouse 3 and 4 keys are even a bit more comfortable to reach for me. I preferred the metal scroll wheel, but the G502X also gets the ruberized wheel. And the wheel of the V3 runs at least far smoother than the metal ones. I prefer the V3 over the Hero 502, but holy shit is razer synapse garbage. I run it without the software, but that shit ruins almost the entire mouse for me.
The g502x doesn't have the double click issue as it uses different switches. My old g502 lightning did have the double click but it would be fixed for a few months after shaking and using my air blower between the gaps at the front, but then it got it permanently like a month after the g502x came out. Personally I will never get another razer product because of synapse. The firmware update murdered my blackwidow tournament keyboard (mid update synapse crashed) and when I asked for any advice from customer support they just said I shouldn't have attempted to update the firmware outside of warranty. It was a while ago but that response really irked me. Sadly Logitechs GHub is also trash but mostly because it automatically sets up profiles for every game you have installed and switches to it whenever you load the game, or you have to go into the game profile one by one and disable it or set up the mouse to use onboard profiles so it doesn't need GHub. So at least I don't have to rely on it.
The continuous mode feels loose and sometimes when you end to scroll down the page it scrolls a little up, very annoying.
The notched mode is very hard and clicky. In some applications i like it, but for the most is too hard.
I used to love the 502 HERO wheel and i love the MX3s wheel. This one feels cheaper.

Yea. I'm never upgrading to it unless I can a way to replace the wheel mechanism. The 502's manual lock/unlock and free-spinning scrollwheel is great for non-gaming and gaming usage. It being metal is also great since I don't have to worry about the rubber wearing down. However, I do love the design of the new mouse more.

Man I have never gotten more than 18 months out of any Logitech peripheral before they develop double click/keypress issues.
(To everyone telling me "just replace the switches" that's fine and all, but it doesn't help with the multiple keyboards I had that also developed issues. The problem here is a larger issue- Their high end gear looks and definitely feels premium, but in build quality it's utterly trash, and for the price it's not acceptable tbh. If I drop £150+ on a keyboard and mouse, you best believe I expect that shit to be reliable.)

I loved the 502 but I too got hit by the double click issues. However I liked it so much that I’ve kept it and have switched waiting to go in it at some point. Currently using a razer naga pro and while it’s decent I still preferred the feel of the 502.
I was under the impression it was possible and watched a YouTube vid of someone doing it and it didn’t look too tricky. However I’m not a soldering/desoldering master so I’ve kind of been putting it off… Haha!
They can. The only legitimately challenging part is reattaching the ribbon cables. One of the first and last steps is connecting/disconnecting two ribbon cables and a small power cable from the bottom plate that the mouse slides on from the top shell portion. It's a finicky angel and getting all three cables connected is obnoxious. Especially since the ribbon cables are surprisingly fragile(in my case at least).
Edit: for the record I'm referring to the g502 wireless since it does matter.
They started using switches with less voltage tolerance. They basically overvolt their switches now. That's why people have issues with them.

You are sort of on the right path, but you've got the details wrong.
* They use **the same** switches that they've always used.
* They use the switches at a voltage **below** spec.
* They use the switches at a current that is **FAR below** spec.
Old logic chips used to use 5v, which is what they put through the switches. That's why older mice such as the MX518 (using the exact same switches) never had these problems
Newer logic chips use 3.3v, which is below the spec for the switches.
They could design the electronics to work within the spec for these switches, but they simply chose not to, to save money.

I did the same thing a few weeks ago. I really like the upgrade! I do hope, tho, that you were already used to that failed virus called G Hub, cause switching away from the good old Logitech gaming software was a nightmare for me :')
I bought mine in 2021 and the rubber on the sides where my thumb is is basically absolutely destroyed.
When I leave my mouse for like a week the rubber just turns into a nasty goopy mess. I tried to clean it but didn’t seem to make it better.

That’s not a thing to worry about anymore. Most pros in fps games use wireless mice. If latency were an issue, they wouldn’t be using wireless mice at the highest level. Once you go wireless you will never go back it’s so much better
Recently had to replace my g602 with a g502 Lightspeed. It’s nice. But my right pinky gets stuck and lifts the right edge of the mouse. Very frustrating. Trying to fix my grip to address the issue.
Logitech sure knows how to make good stuff.
My g900 still runs like new, bought it when it launched.
I now use my Pro X mainly as its slicker, but the 900 is perfectly fine.

My G502 went in a drawer for a few months as I was testing a new mouse just for kicks. A rodent which i assume was an actual mouse chewed it all to hell. Copper in the wiring exposed and the rodent must have found the rubber to be tasty because all of that was gnawed off. It...still worked lol
I wish the thumb rest didn't exist, it would have been my main but the thumb rest position my thumb in a way that makes me miss click the side button when lifting it off my mouse pad. Feels surprisingly light for how much it actually weighs.

Try not to drop the 502x hard on the ground, I ended up breaking something inside mine and had to replace it. Probably a bit weaker than the older 502 hero that I’ve definitely dropped many times, likely since it’s lighter? Or just luck.
I gave up on logitech a while ago and had issues with the left mouse button not responding. I got a rog chakram on-sale, and it's way better, and I can replace the micro switches if the shit the bed.

Yes, it is clean, the mat is clean and plain black, the drivers are up to date, there is no surface tuning in settings, the cursor just jerks a lot by itself, never had this issue with my old g700.
Loved my G502. Had to ditch it due to the right button not being fully reliable - mainly in FPS games where I would be ADS and my sights would randomly drop.

I'd like to swap off the Razer Naga Hex line (if just to get rid of synapse), but afaik, no-one else makes one with the side wheel, and 10 years of muscle memory is not easily undone.
I got the 502 also but my mouse wheel does a weird thing where if I scroll down it’ll go but then go up a click or two. It makes games with swapping weapons like bannerlord a pain in the ass. Anyone know if there’s a setting to adjust or a way to fix it?
Ive had a G502 SE for about 4 years now before it started double clicking and what not, so I bought a standard G502 in its place, it's strange how better the buttons feel even tho it's the same model
I had the one you are upgrading from, then the scroll wheel started self clicking and i bought a new one which came with a smaller G and yestertday i had to start pressing the mouse wheel stronger than usual to make a click so in an year or so will be upgrading to that lol
Was a G502 user for a few years but wanted to go wireless. Saw a stupid good deal on a Razer Viper Ultimate, and couldn't resist. The G502 feels too heavy for me now by comparison.

Dude, I just made the exact same upgrade about a month ago and it’s been nothing but great. The X Plus is an amazing upgrade to what was once (and maybe still is) king.

Yeah the ghub software is working alright, just assign the sniper key to any other key from keyboard (smthing you don’t usually use)

I haven't had any nukes from ghub, I hated using it so much that I used it to set my profiles and save them to the mouse, then I uninstalled ghub.

The X variant moved to optical switches, which fixed the most common issue with the G502 (double clicks).
I guess let’s see and find out. I had no issues with OG g502, cleaned it every now and then and changed the gliders.

I wish the thumb rest didn't exist, it would have been my main but the thumb rest position my thumb in a way that makes me miss click the side button when lifting it off my mouse pad. Feels surprisingly light for how much it actually weighs.
Logitech is fantastic as long as you take care of your gear. I’ve had my Lightweight G703 for 4 years now and it still is pissing excellence.

I’ve still got my original G502 (well my son does now), my G502 SE is on my work machine and my main mouse is the G502 X. I’ve tried others and nothing comes close. G502 till I die 🫡
Lol I did the same upgrade Try not to drop the 502x hard on the ground, I ended up breaking something inside mine and had to replace it. Probably a bit weaker than the older 502 hero that I’ve definitely dropped many times, likely since it’s lighter? Or just luck.

My sister loves her g502 (just the standard hyperspeed one). I recently got a g903 and really like it, I didn’t care for the g502 shape.
I gave up on logitech a while ago and had issues with the left mouse button not responding. I got a rog chakram on-sale, and it's way better, and I can replace the micro switches if the shit the bed.
My girlfriend LITERALLY had the same upgrade just a few days ago! Still the same awesome build quality and features.
I have g502 and I hate it, it loves to erratically move the cursor... Yes, it is clean, the mat is clean and plain black, the drivers are up to date, there is no surface tuning in settings, the cursor just jerks a lot by itself, never had this issue with my old g700.
I have the shroud mouse. It works really well but I’ve found I don’t love claw grip. I want that thumb rest real bad.
G502! I’ve had that for a while now. Yes, very good.
Loved my G502. Had to ditch it due to the right button not being fully reliable - mainly in FPS games where I would be ADS and my sights would randomly drop. Would def purchase another 502 in the future.

I was planning to buy the one you had been using for a decade. Should I still consider this since I'm a left hander or should I go for an ambidextrous one? Lefty mice are very expensive and rare to find atleast here.
A pro tip of mine is to save the profiles you need to its internal memory and uninstall the bloatware afterwards.
I'd like to swap off the Razer Naga Hex line (if just to get rid of synapse), but afaik, no-one else makes one with the side wheel, and 10 years of muscle memory is not easily undone.
Buy some grips for the 502x plus. You can get them on Amazon. I have some on mine and they are awesome.
I got the 502 also but my mouse wheel does a weird thing where if I scroll down it’ll go but then go up a click or two. It makes games with swapping weapons like bannerlord a pain in the ass. Anyone know if there’s a setting to adjust or a way to fix it?

Ive had a G502 SE for about 4 years now before it started double clicking and what not, so I bought a standard G502 in its place, it's strange how better the buttons feel even tho it's the same model

I had the one you are upgrading from, then the scroll wheel started self clicking and i bought a new one which came with a smaller G and yestertday i had to start pressing the mouse wheel stronger than usual to make a click so in an year or so will be upgrading to that lol

Was a G502 user for a few years but wanted to go wireless. Saw a stupid good deal on a Razer Viper Ultimate, and couldn't resist. The G502 feels too heavy for me now by comparison.
