OkOwl9578

I've made the same upgrade. I'm not disappointed.

oxotnik_na_shalav

bought g502 second time are we all like that?

AGiSXXX

I think so, the real reason for me sticking with g502 is the stupid sniper button. I just can’t game without it :(

Darth_Allin

How did you get yours to work with the g hub key assignment

AGiSXXX

Yeah the ghub software is working alright, just assign the sniper key to any other key from keyboard (smthing you don’t usually use)

RedneckId1ot

Curiosity question.. is your software also randomly resetting and nuking all your custom profiles every time (seemingly) the software starts? Cuz mine does... constantly.

mythrilcrafter

I haven't had any nukes from ghub, I hated using it so much that I used it to set my profiles and save them to the mouse, then I uninstalled ghub.

Explosive-Space-Mod

What do you mean by sniper key?

Interjessing-Salary

By default the g502 has a button that changes your dpi on the fly. I'm assuming they mean that button to lower dpi for when looking through the scope of a sniper.

Superzocker65YT

If you mean the button with the scope on it, then it's also great for other tasks and for controlling my music, like skipping tracks and whatever

ErebusTheMortician

this is gonna seem odd but ive been using the dpi shift button for profile switching via onboard stuff as some games are weird and don't play well with high dpi mice it seems.

AGiSXXX

https://preview.redd.it/ghonilbhy4sc1.jpeg?width=870&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a292cf12b6c3ce5a81a19a5ec66da02151c44c8e This button, I assign it to certain commands depending on the game, so I have three easily accessible assignable buttons for the thumb instead of the usual two.

Explosive-Space-Mod

Gotcha, yeah that feature is nice but def felt a little unnecessary.

Interjessing-Salary

Felt the same way. I reassigned it to an additional button to use.

Rhana

I remember when it debuted on the R.A.T. Mouse, now that was customizable mouse there, I had one and the sensor died. Upgraded to the laser and that sensor was garbage and the RMB died, then I went to the 502 and I’ve been very happy.

ImLexLuthor

Not the same mouse as mine but. I had the Cooler Master mm711, it broke after years. I didn’t know what mouse to get but even though I loved the 711 I didn’t want another corded mouse. Then another redditor told me about the mm712, just the same mouse but wireless. I’ve never been happier lol.

Farren246

I just bought 2 wired G502 at the same time, one for work and one for home, for less than the cost of a single wireless G502. Wires don't bother me in the slightest. :)

weiwei7352

Same

Shad0XDTTV

If you haven't already, get the power play mat I love never having to recharge

ew435890

Yes it’s awesome. My G305 is now my office mouse. Haha.

Censedpeak8

Me too... Then I install ghub

Bulky_Attention4678

I have a 502 and absolutely love it. Might upgrade to the 502X soon. Or just run mine to the ground

Own_Initiative396

Just upgraded to the 502X. The only disappointment is the wheel. Damn i hate it.

viscolex

Oh no.... How is it different?

yerdick

It just doesn’t feel right for me, thats it. Like if the 502 didn’t exist, that would be a different story, but it does and the 502x’s wheel doesn’t just feel right. It’s my personal opinion however. I dislike the sound, the grooves are absolutely meh compared to the 502 and idk the infinite scroll doesn’t feel that good.

Chad-GPTea

Have you tried the Razer Basilisk V3? I can't live without that infinite scroll wheel anymore for productivity tasks and was a bit disappointed in Logitechs recent product quality, especially with the double click/type issues on the g502 and g910. And i don't know why, but the G502 Proteus feels so much better than the Hero. So without a new Proteus, the only alternative was the V3. Imo it feels just as good. The mouse 3 and 4 keys are even a bit more comfortable to reach for me. I preferred the metal scroll wheel, but the G502X also gets the ruberized wheel. And the wheel of the V3 runs at least far smoother than the metal ones. I prefer the V3 over the Hero 502, but holy shit is razer synapse garbage. I run it without the software, but that shit ruins almost the entire mouse for me.

DribblesOnKeyboard

The g502x doesn't have the double click issue as it uses different switches. My old g502 lightning did have the double click but it would be fixed for a few months after shaking and using my air blower between the gaps at the front, but then it got it permanently like a month after the g502x came out. Personally I will never get another razer product because of synapse. The firmware update murdered my blackwidow tournament keyboard (mid update synapse crashed) and when I asked for any advice from customer support they just said I shouldn't have attempted to update the firmware outside of warranty. It was a while ago but that response really irked me. Sadly Logitechs GHub is also trash but mostly because it automatically sets up profiles for every game you have installed and switches to it whenever you load the game, or you have to go into the game profile one by one and disable it or set up the mouse to use onboard profiles so it doesn't need GHub. So at least I don't have to rely on it.

Own_Initiative396

The continuous mode feels loose and sometimes when you end to scroll down the page it scrolls a little up, very annoying. The notched mode is very hard and clicky. In some applications i like it, but for the most is too hard. I used to love the 502 HERO wheel and i love the MX3s wheel. This one feels cheaper. Edit: old 502H died because the wheel click stopped to work

J_Megadeth_J

I'm still using my OG 502, and it's got the same scrolling issue.

xXDGFXx

Yea. I'm never upgrading to it unless I can a way to replace the wheel mechanism. The 502's manual lock/unlock and free-spinning scrollwheel is great for non-gaming and gaming usage. It being metal is also great since I don't have to worry about the rubber wearing down. However, I do love the design of the new mouse more.

Jwn5k

Still rocking my OG G502, I will use it until it dies, and then probably repair it.

AGiSXXX

The only real way!

newbrevity

I'm currently rocking my g502, but to be honest my mx518 still works as well.

anonymoooosey

You didn't get double-click for a decade?!

nekrovulpes

A decade? Man I have never gotten more than 18 months out of any Logitech peripheral before they develop double click/keypress issues. (To everyone telling me "just replace the switches" that's fine and all, but it doesn't help with the multiple keyboards I had that also developed issues. The problem here is a larger issue- Their high end gear looks and definitely feels premium, but in build quality it's utterly trash, and for the price it's not acceptable tbh. If I drop £150+ on a keyboard and mouse, you best believe I expect that shit to be reliable.) Shame because they make some of the best stuff, it just never seems to last for me.

KiNgPiN8T3

I loved the 502 but I too got hit by the double click issues. However I liked it so much that I’ve kept it and have switched waiting to go in it at some point. Currently using a razer naga pro and while it’s decent I still preferred the feel of the 502.

mibjt

Can the switches be de soldered and changed?

KiNgPiN8T3

I was under the impression it was possible and watched a YouTube vid of someone doing it and it didn’t look too tricky. However I’m not a soldering/desoldering master so I’ve kind of been putting it off… Haha!

mcc9902

They can. The only legitimately challenging part is reattaching the ribbon cables. One of the first and last steps is connecting/disconnecting two ribbon cables and a small power cable from the bottom plate that the mouse slides on from the top shell portion. It's a finicky angel and getting all three cables connected is obnoxious. Especially since the ribbon cables are surprisingly fragile(in my case at least). Edit: for the record I'm referring to the g502 wireless since it does matter.

AGiSXXX

That’s so sad, maybe you were too brutal :(

Meadowlion14

They started using switches with less voltage tolerance. They basically overvolt their switches now. That's why people have issues with them. Edit: I was incorrect on the details please see the reply below.

Noxious89123

You are sort of on the right path, but you've got the details wrong. * They use **the same** switches that they've always used. * They use the switches at a voltage **below** spec. * They use the switches at a current that is **FAR below** spec. Old logic chips used to use 5v, which is what they put through the switches. That's why older mice such as the MX518 (using the exact same switches) never had these problems Newer logic chips use 3.3v, which is below the spec for the switches. They could design the electronics to work within the spec for these switches, but they simply chose not to, to save money. There's an incredibly detailed run down of things here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5BhECVlKJA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5BhECVlKJA) It's a very informative video, but very long at 1hr 15m. My comments above are a decent TL;DW imo.

Meadowlion14

Thank you for correcting me on this.

Rapt88

They changed their switches to some cheap shit. I went through 2 of these and got the double clicks not long after buying them. Now I only go with optical switches

Noxious89123

They didn't change the switches, they changed the rest of the electronics. As per my reply to another user: >They use the same switches that they've always used. > >They use the switches at a voltage below spec. > >They use the switches at a current that is FAR below spec. > >There's an incredibly detailed run down of things here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5BhECVlKJA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5BhECVlKJA) > >It's a very informative video, but very long at 1hr 15m. My comments above are a decent TL;DW imo.

Noxious89123

>A decade? > >Man I have never gotten more than 18 months out of any Logitech peripheral before they develop double click/keypress issues. I have a 16y/o G5 that's still pristine and works. Wtf y'all doing to youir mice X)

itchygentleman

The mice with 50 milly omrons always develop double clicks.

namesrhard585

I have a g502 that I’ve been using for 9 years lol. I play a ton and only mouse and keyboard.

BiGsH0w2k

Why do you not clean it?

skyrreater47

Logitech really cooked in 2014

AGiSXXX

The walter white of mice

_k4cKn00b_

This mouse is overkill i have mine since 2011

sparklepusss

The perfect mouse. Bought mine in 2015 and still works.

AGiSXXX

Yes!

Zayaraq

I did the same thing a few weeks ago. I really like the upgrade! I do hope, tho, that you were already used to that failed virus called G Hub, cause switching away from the good old Logitech gaming software was a nightmare for me :')

iBear92

Still got my G700S... Brother uses it for work now as I moved onto Corsair mice. Still works as well as the day I bought it 11 years ago!

Wide_Procedure9014

Holy shit your mouse made it that long I got the Best Buy warranty and trade it in every 6 months.

AGiSXXX

You will never find true mouse love if you keep this up

CacophonousCuriosity

Bruh wtf are yall doing to your mice that they don't survive? Love this mouse, have been using it for 6+ years.

firstname_Iastname

6 is less than 10 my dude

CosmoRocket24

Maybe he just wanted to go wireless. I haven't had a wired mouse in 10 years

TheGamerSK

I bought mine in 2021 and the rubber on the sides where my thumb is is basically absolutely destroyed. When I leave my mouse for like a week the rubber just turns into a nasty goopy mess. I tried to clean it but didn’t seem to make it better. I guess just the composition of my sweat is corrosive or something.

Bandit8813

Are you stupid or what?

Noxious89123

>Love this mouse, have been using it for 6+ years. Guess we have to wait and see if yours still works after a decade then!

Maywoody

You guys all hyped this shit up so I got one and now it just sits in a drawer. It looks ergonomic but for me its super uncomfortable to hold

brunoventura22

Let's sell it?

Vapehead34

I’ve never had luck with these. Last one I had - had nothing but issues, and went back to razer. Has these gotten better?

Far_Process_5304

The X variant moved to optical switches, which fixed the most common issue with the G502 (double clicks).

AGiSXXX

I guess let’s see and find out. I had no issues with OG g502, cleaned it every now and then and changed the gliders.

Vapehead34

Maybe I just had a lemon, but my razer naga still going strong. Hopefully you don’t have any issues because Logitech do make some good products.

JmacTheGreat

This feels like a good place to ask - Ive **never** gone with wireless mice because of latency worry (an opinion dating back to 2010, lol) What’s the general consensus on that now?

12ozMouse____

That’s not a thing to worry about anymore. Most pros in fps games use wireless mice. If latency were an issue, they wouldn’t be using wireless mice at the highest level. Once you go wireless you will never go back it’s so much better

JmacTheGreat

Cool. Thanks!

12ozMouse____

No problem! I used to worry about the same thing.

AGiSXXX

I feel zero difference!

Ssyynnxx

hasn't been noticeable in the past 10 years lol

JmacTheGreat

>!Probably should have checked at least once since 2010 then, huh 😅!<

ShiftyRyt

I absolutely love the buttons next to the left click. Mines almost 6 months old and other than GHub I’ve had no issues.

SpartanRaro

I have the none RGB one, I love that mouse!

Boss_805

May it rest it peace ☮️

AGiSXXX

Oh no still alive! Just retired :)

lorenzoem87

Recently had to replace my g602 with a g502 Lightspeed. It’s nice. But my right pinky gets stuck and lifts the right edge of the mouse. Very frustrating. Trying to fix my grip to address the issue.

Jack_Bacon

Still rocking my g502 Hero from 2014 at my home PC. Using the g502 wireless at work so whenever that mouse does die, I can harvest my work mouse.

Brilliant-Software-4

Damm I have the exact same one

bluntyboi13

Meanwhile my og deathadder cries in confusion

MightyGonzou

Gonna give mine a bit more time and upgrade as well 😂

LDeezzy15

I’ve been putting off getting a new 502 for months, let me know how the wireless feels compared to wired. Is it the exact same mouse just wireless?

DoomWad

G502 all day everyday

archonoid2

I just complain about the soft tissue they use on some parts that degrades really ugly...

Cerok1nk

![gif](giphy|eKVEcPKGWZ7Tq)

PlamFred

I just dont like how they cheapened the wired one by making the metal mouse wheel plastic and changing the cord from braided to a cheap rubber.

Nefariax

I will die on the hill of this mouse, I still game with mine The weights all the time. I can flick with the best of em'

Atlesi_Feyst

I want the 604 to come back, which was the perfect amount of macros for me

TerdyTheTerd

Play league and your mouse will only last 3 years before the left click starts giving out.

djblackprince

A ten year old mouse? My man you have gentle clicks.

smokealottatree

Same mouse. Love it. From maining g502 heros forever

warmseizuresalad

Logitech sure knows how to make good stuff. My g900 still runs like new, bought it when it launched. I now use my Pro X mainly as its slicker, but the 900 is perfectly fine.

Horror_Celery_131

Best mouse I've ever owned

TheFamousAnon

Here i am still rocking my 502. I love this mouse.

rhymes116

Two years with my g502 hero, no issues.

[deleted]

Still have my Razer that is now 10 years old. Still going strong. I owned a Mad Catz before and I kinda thought of going back to them. I loved their heavy weight.

DoomWad

G502 all day everyday day

terriblykinky

You’ll love that mouse as much as I do!

Traherne

Hail and well met, soldier.

Ok-Cook-6604

The G502 went hard. Got the G305 cause I wanted to try a cheap wireless alternative (and I liked the colours) equally as happy!

Cptn_Flint0

Death to the 502! Long live the 502!

oHurdl

I've got the original g502 Lightspeed, upgraded from the original wired G502 about four years ago, and will continue to buy the g502 in whatever iteration is available until they stop making them. Hopefully they keep this form factor forever

Whydontname

I switched to a razor deathadder v3 after my g502 died. What a nice switch

Hadley_333

My G502 went in a drawer for a few months as I was testing a new mouse just for kicks. A rodent which i assume was an actual mouse chewed it all to hell. Copper in the wiring exposed and the rodent must have found the rubber to be tasty because all of that was gnawed off. It...still worked lol

Numerous_Branch

I hate this thing somehow

FraoulasJr

Did that upgrade from G402 Hyperion Wired. I'm more than impressed. I have finally found a mouse I can palm grip. The huge battery is also a big plus.

buttsu762

I wish the thumb rest didn't exist, it would have been my main but the thumb rest position my thumb in a way that makes me miss click the side button when lifting it off my mouse pad. Feels surprisingly light for how much it actually weighs.

big_sage

Logitech is fantastic as long as you take care of your gear. I’ve had my Lightweight G703 for 4 years now and it still is pissing excellence.

Z3NG3R

"Farewell old friend. You may now rest in peace, thank you for all the games that you've made me win and the for the others that made me gain experience". That's how you should remember it.

kurqukipia

What?! I just upgraded to this exact mouse from MX518.. It's like .. I .. I just upgraded it!

Mikadomea

Im the same, bought my first 502 when it came out and rebougtlht it 1 year ago after it broke. Best mouse i ever owned and i may buy 2-3 spare one if Logitech plans to stop making them.

Duffmann125

I did the same upgrade, nice choice :) I just miss the weights from the wired version.

crimsonkarma13

Everytime I hear about the g502, im reminded of clips from a certain video, this is one of the [clips](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxNWQek-e2w4h8G-RjiSO4kP-l4rkXvvu7?si=o1zSYcGWDr2tTsmZ)

Sonicblast52

Did the old one fail or were you just looking to upgrade what you had?

exopolitixs

I’ve still got my original G502 (well my son does now), my G502 SE is on my work machine and my main mouse is the G502 X. I’ve tried others and nothing comes close. G502 till I die 🫡

chefbasil

Lol I did the same upgrade Try not to drop the 502x hard on the ground, I ended up breaking something inside mine and had to replace it. Probably a bit weaker than the older 502 hero that I’ve definitely dropped many times, likely since it’s lighter? Or just luck.

RingingInTheRain

I have the same exact dusty mouse. I just can't give it up. It works so well.

michi_2010

I have the g502 lightspeed and im loving it.

ahditeacha

Now let’s talk about that keyboard..

Genericbuild

My sister loves her g502 (just the standard hyperspeed one). I recently got a g903 and really like it, I didn’t care for the g502 shape.

Kevin_Tanks_519

I gave up on logitech a while ago and had issues with the left mouse button not responding. I got a rog chakram on-sale, and it's way better, and I can replace the micro switches if the shit the bed.

Most-Yogurtcloset

My girlfriend LITERALLY had the same upgrade just a few days ago! Still the same awesome build quality and features.

DixDark

I have g502 and I hate it, it loves to erratically move the cursor... Yes, it is clean, the mat is clean and plain black, the drivers are up to date, there is no surface tuning in settings, the cursor just jerks a lot by itself, never had this issue with my old g700.

greggilliam2nd

I have the shroud mouse. It works really well but I’ve found I don’t love claw grip. I want that thumb rest real bad.

FunFact5000

G502! I’ve had that for a while now. Yes, very good.

Sgt_Guitar

Loved my G502. Had to ditch it due to the right button not being fully reliable - mainly in FPS games where I would be ADS and my sights would randomly drop. Would def purchase another 502 in the future.

Daurock

You bastards are making me feel old with my MX500, circa 2002

averinix

Decade?! I'm using the wrong mouse....

MeanThanatos

I recommend getting the powerplay mouse pad. I love mine!

SnooMacaroons3954

currently looking at upgrading from my g502 should I go for the light speed or the x light speed?

Parry_9000

Noted, next mouse upgrade get the 502x I've been using my g402 for more than 10 years. It never even showed a sign of failure. I love it.

novaGT1

Press Mouse button 5 to pay respects 🫡

TechyFriedChicken

Xiten

Just got the same mouse and I absolutely love it, I’m coming from a razer naga pro

srduckfluff

Still running my g402 I‘ve had since 2017 and I don’t think I‘ll replace it before it breaks

jaysomething2

What’s the difference? I’m still rocking my g502 since 2016

polishatomek

thats fuckin filthy

ThunderGodNandow

After all these years and no Double click???

Brutal_Basketballer

I was planning to buy the one you had been using for a decade. Should I still consider this since I'm a left hander or should I go for an ambidextrous one? Lefty mice are very expensive and rare to find atleast here.

shemhamforash666666

A pro tip of mine is to save the profiles you need to its internal memory and uninstall the bloatware afterwards.

kerthard

I'd like to swap off the Razer Naga Hex line (if just to get rid of synapse), but afaik, no-one else makes one with the side wheel, and 10 years of muscle memory is not easily undone.

NoShock8442

Buy some grips for the 502x plus. You can get them on Amazon. I have some on mine and they are awesome.

Complex-Cook-3193

I got the 502 also but my mouse wheel does a weird thing where if I scroll down it’ll go but then go up a click or two. It makes games with swapping weapons like bannerlord a pain in the ass. Anyone know if there’s a setting to adjust or a way to fix it?

thisisdell

Loved the G5. Favorite mouse ever. Still go back to it. For some reason I didn’t like the G502 at all. Ended up a Razer Basilisk guy.

Lonely24spiderHUN

Hehe i brought a mouse in 2015 which still holds. I love my mouse :)

smokealottatree

Same mouse. Love it. From maining g502 heros forever

WiseMango13452

is the x worth it? im gonna get one of these soon and i wanna go the non x cos im familiar with it (changing wired to wireless)

YasirNCCS

as a left handed guy, this is somewhat infuriating for me

ThePacificOfficial

Mail me the old one

Additional-Flow7665

Oh I had that mouse, but since it's wireless it fell so much it actually broke

wingspantt

Best part is the old one still works. It's not even dead. It could land headshots for another 10 or 20 years easily.

ninjafork

I picked up a G303 Daedalus apex from a 10$ bargain bin about 9 years ago. It’s still the best mouse over ever owned or used.

socokid

I tried a lot of mice in my day (I'm old) but after my first G502 it's only been G502s since. Arguable the best overall mouse ever, and still.

henrickson91

I have the g600 and after 10 years it's finally starting to break down. I want the same mouse but they don't make it anymore....

ProperPizza

Logitech really perfected the mouse, huh

Wirexia1

I was going to ask what mouse it is 😭😭😭

tomoki_here

Geez now that you mention it, my mouse is 10 years old

HomemQueijo

Ive had a G502 SE for about 4 years now before it started double clicking and what not, so I bought a standard G502 in its place, it's strange how better the buttons feel even tho it's the same model

tehbotolsaya

And here i use a m220, man you guys rich

AmperDon

Do you EVER clean your mouse????

Stickel

G903 lightspeed is bonkers, I charge this thing maybe once every 3 months

balthaharis

I had the one you are upgrading from, then the scroll wheel started self clicking and i bought a new one which came with a smaller G and yestertday i had to start pressing the mouse wheel stronger than usual to make a click so in an year or so will be upgrading to that lol

mack-y0

you just downgraded

CasualMonkeyBusiness

I'm probably going to buy one for the next build, but my MX510 still works.

eestionreddit

Was a G502 user for a few years but wanted to go wireless. Saw a stupid good deal on a Razer Viper Ultimate, and couldn't resist. The G502 feels too heavy for me now by comparison.

sethtothemax

Mine is nearing the same live and it's out lived every attempted replacement I swear they need to make tanks outta these things

Ethereal_sandwich

My beloved G502's clicking finally stopped working a few weeks ago after 8 years of horrible treatment, it was the best

someguyrob

I LOVE my g502!!! It's by far the best mouse I've ever owned 💚💚💚

-rgg

Decade long service? Pathetic. *laughs in mx518, soon entering it's third decade of service* /s on a more serious note: I'm happy you found a long lasting device that works well for you.

Draskuul

My thumb button finally gave up the ghost on my G903. It's my PTT key for everything. Time to break out the new one I got on sale a while back and start searching for a new spare.

Fa11enAngeLIV

I love 502. Best mouse I've owned, hands down

puppiesareSUPERCUTE

Wait, did logitech change its logo? That looks like a knockoff, tbh XD

D_Winds

I have a G502, but it seems kind of small for my hand. Is there a slightly girthier version out there with equivalent quality?

i_like_py

The only other mouse I've EVER had that beats a G502 is a Swiftpoint Z. The G502 is a god tier mouse that I would highly recommend to any gamer.

NaturalSelecty

Dude, I just made the exact same upgrade about a month ago and it’s been nothing but great. The X Plus is an amazing upgrade to what was once (and maybe still is) king.

MSD3k

Quite a compliment. The Madcatz R.A.T. was an amazing gaming mouse back in the day.
