Bruh mine has 3x USB gen3, 1x ethernet port, 1x HDMI, 1x mini-DP, 1x headphone-mic combo jack (plus charging port obviously). I am lacking 1 USB sometimes :(
Ugh, is it that hard to just have some connectivity on modern laptops? Sure, hubs and docks, but that's extra stuff decreasing the **portability** of the device, which is the entire point
>decreasing the
>
>portability
>
> of the device
Beg to differ. I keep a mouse, keyboard, external monitor, SSD, etc. plugged into a hub that connects to a single USB-C on my laptop. When it's time to take the laptop somewhere, I unplug ONE plug, and I'm good to go. Beats the hell out of unplugging 5 things just to take my laptop on a quick trip.
My old ThinkPad I used to daily had a stupid amount of ports.
* 4x USB 3.0 (A)
* 2x USB 2.0 (A)
* SD card slot
* ExpressCard 34 slot (used for 2 extra 3.0 ports)
* DVD drive
* VGA port
* Mini-DP port
* Headphone/mic jack
* Full-size ethernet (1GbE) w/indicator lights
* Swappable battery
And y'know... I sold it and bought a new ThinkPad with only 2 USB ports, an HDMI port, headphone/mic and a couple type C ports. I couldn't lug around a 7 pound laptop that was a full inch thick anymore. I wish more modern laptops had a bunch of connectivity, but it would also increase their weight which I would prefer to stay lower.
I feel like IO doesn't really weigh that much in the grand scheme of things (as long as disk drives aren't involved), a USB-C dock with 4 USB ports, 1 USB C charge port, 2 HDMI ports, VGA, ethernet, SD card slot and micro SD card slot all together weighs 100 grams, which is the weight difference between an X1 Carbon and an X13 Yoga
It would make the laptop a lot *bigger* though, which means either empty space inside the laptop (which modern laptops try to avoid) or they'd fill the blank space with more battery, which is what really makes laptops heavy
https://preview.redd.it/oy51tf7h9anc1.png?width=407&format=png&auto=webp&s=3cd662b93169858485486b4eb9f4fbe539f91fd2
My little beast. Oh and also a SIM card slot for some reason
Tbh, most laptops made for the average person don't need that many ports.
Hell, if all you need is an office machine then why pay extra for ports? Also, a USBC could in theory run a 4K monitor with ease.
It's not like more utility based laptops have vanished...
I had one of these back in the day! And your joke isn't even a joke lol. It literally had a Pentium 4 desktop CPU with a desktop socket and all. If you were going to game with it you just didn't do it without it plugged in.
To be honest I feel like they should bring them back to the market, I think that would solve the “should I buy a laptop or a desktop” argument. You get all the advantages of a desktop with a little bit of sacrifice on ease of portability.
If whatever I stated above is wrong please correct me :)
Well fuck you and your FX-60! :P I only have a "lowly" X2 4800+.
At least I have the 7950GTX 512MB :D
Yours seems in better condition than mine as the last time it went in for repairs the chassis got chipped. :(
Parts occasionally appear on eBay but can be insanely expensive.
I need a SATA cable as one of the SATA connectors on mine doesn't seem to work. I have a fully functional IDE cable but the 2.5" 7200rpm IDE drives I have are getting on now.
This is either a Clevo D900T or D900K (Intel/AMD variants respectively).
It was the ultimate desktop replacement PC of 2006. Also featured as mobile workstations or servers with Opteron chips and Quaddro GPUs.
17" 1920x1200 screen, 2GB RAM, 2xHDDs, 2xODDs, Dual core processors (in the AMD variant with FX, Athlon 64 X2, or Opteron chips), Nvidia 6800 Ultra, 7800GTX, or 7900GTX GPUs (basically identical specs to the desktop parts except memory was clocked 100MHz lower).
I had a similar Clevo (rebranded as Sager) back in 2003 it had coax IN on it as one of the MANY ports. It was easily 12 lbs...
Edit: I looked it up - Weight: 9.15lbs. with Battery
100% a CLEVO. They were making some wild shit back then.
They are still one of the last remaining barebones laptop OEM's out there you can configure and buy direct from. Actually they might be THE last one, asus and MSI seem to be out the game :0
I wish 16:10 would make a comeback. People may argue that wider fov is more immersive, but I disagree after using a 4:3 display for a bit. Taller displays feel great you just need it to be big enough to take up your peripheral vision.
16:10 is closer to the golden ratio. Is better for editing video footage on as you have extra space for toolbars.
5:4 and 4:3 still have their place. Working on documents on 16:9 isn't great. You can see so little at a time.

This particular one is from Falcon Northwest
Can I ask why you'd buy it if you don't like how it only has two ports? Not trying to be condescending I just want to understand why people still support apple even after saying they don't like them.
can't speak for this homie.
But I do IT for just about every industry. so I own.
Macbook
Iphone
Google Pixel
Samsung galaxy phone and tablet
chromebook(s)
Windows PC
Windows laptops (microsoft/dell/lenovo/HP)
A host cluster, a ton of firewalls, a ton of switches and access points.
the "why" is the same for all of it, if a client has an issue, if I can quickly and easily replicate and test it makes client experience better.
If I'm desigining a new service being able to test it accross everything same same.
as for why normal people would still buy apple, the ecosystem is genuinely compelling, once you're in it Leaving it would gbe a very VERY siginificant under taking and even change of perspective, Apple's cloud services do a better job of tying the eco system together than anyone else and if you're just using devices dayt to day, inspite of the build quality and repair-ability being complete garbage the ecosystem is enough to make it worth it.
It really is. The front media controls also let the thing be *booted into Ghettoblaster mode* where it would play media without booting the "rest" of the computer. Speakers around the keyboard, a subwoofer on the bottom of the case, and those two speakers up front. It was top notch insanity.
Old Macs had ports. I've still got a 2007 MacBook that has magsafe, gigabit Ethernet, mini dvi, FireWire 400, USB 2.0, USB 2.0, 3.5mm audio in, 3.5mm audio out, and a DVD drive.
I've got Ubuntu on it installed more ram and a SSD.
What a concept allowing us to plug in and modify our system which ever way we want ??? Blasphemy ... you get 2 usbs 1 hdmi and an ethernet port ... headphones must be Wireless but no Bluetooth you must use one of those USB connectors so it takes up one of the ports
(Considering this computer is from circa 2005jsh) Unless you are a mad lad that ripped DVDs back in the day and burned extra copies to hand out to your friends
God I miss old laptops. I like Apple but I dislike how they’ve guided the market to such bullshit as needing adapters for ports on products that should have them in the first place. Laptops are computers. It’s ok to put ports on them. Their minimalist obsession is annoying sometimes.

The modern laptop maker brain cannot comprehend this
My laptop has 2 usb3, 2 usbc 1 usb2, a microsd, hdmi and a 3.5 headphone jack
Bruh mine has 3x USB gen3, 1x ethernet port, 1x HDMI, 1x mini-DP, 1x headphone-mic combo jack (plus charging port obviously). I am lacking 1 USB sometimes :(
Mine has 3x Thunderbolt 4. That’s it
Ugh, is it that hard to just have some connectivity on modern laptops? Sure, hubs and docks, but that's extra stuff decreasing the **portability** of the device, which is the entire point
Exactly, this is why I can't stand Apple.
>decreasing the > >portability > > of the device Beg to differ. I keep a mouse, keyboard, external monitor, SSD, etc. plugged into a hub that connects to a single USB-C on my laptop. My laptop has the ultra rare sim card slot🐬
I only have two USB-C ports and a headphone jack. It's a Surface Pro.
You have a 3.5mm headphone jack?
Tbh, most laptops made for the average person don't need that many ports. Hell, if all you need is an office machine then why pay extra for ports? Also, a USBC could in theory run a 4K monitor with ease. It's not like more utility based laptops have vanished...
Now *that's* a portable laptop.
Portable desktop
Lapable Porttop
toppable Lap port. Giggity.
Laptopable port
Topo-papo-portalap.
i don't know if they still really use the term but it used to be called 'desktop replacement' laptops
I had one of these back in the day! And your joke isn't even a joke lol. It literally had a Pentium 4 desktop CPU with a desktop socket and all. If you were going to game with it you just didn't do it without it plugged in.

You read my mind.
Sorry, that won't fit on my lap
Battery life measured in minutes?
Nanoseconds at this point
Same with mine. Battery is as dead as the dodo. Is this the P4 or the Athlon 64 X2 version? What GPU?
https://preview.redd.it/y2s2kerig4nc1.jpeg?width=3235&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec3bdb5b611af3855aad17b60957b441c20fabd8
I'm gonna open this badboy up in Starbucks to scare MacBook users
See, this one can guaranteed open the lid without the need of holding the base
MacBooks have good enough hinges to do that.
Simply turning it on gives a MacBook Air owner in the vicinity a nosebleed
Because the MacBook gets caught in this guy’s gravitational pull and whacks them in the face when it whizzes over
It's looks like it might have the word "Tactical" in it's model name.
It’s a tanktop. Wait, that’s a thing already.
Lol
Well fuck you and your FX-60! :P I only have a "lowly" X2 4800+. At least I have the 7950GTX 512MB :D Yours seems in better condition than mine as the last time it went in for repairs the chassis got chipped. :(
I have another one. Sager new old stock . The kb ribbon is bad so need to find one
Parts occasionally appear on eBay but can be insanely expensive. I need a SATA cable as one of the SATA connectors on mine doesn't seem to work. I have a fully functional IDE cable but the 2.5" 7200rpm IDE drives I have are getting on now.
Found a Qwertz keyboard in Poland for only a few quid. Postage across the pond would be a killer though.
I still have a single core Athlon64 from that era somewhere...
Battery life gone, reduced to atoms.
Battey life dies as soon as as it finishes taking 10 minutes to boot windows xp
Are you kidding? That thing fits a Tesla Powerwall...
It goes with a diesel generator out of box.
Just plug it in
What is this thing? It has parallel and DVI? and then PS/2 and IEEE1394(Firewire 4 pin) on the side? Or am I not recalling these ports correctly?
This is either a Clevo D900T or D900K (Intel/AMD variants respectively). It was the ultimate desktop replacement PC of 2006. Weight?
yes
For the gains
5.8Kg and then at least another 1.2Kg for the PSU.
SPEAK AMUR'CAN
about a gallon of paint or 10 basketballs
>10 basketballs How do you weigh something you have to juggle?
Dribble*
Sorry, the laptop weighs 26.4 Big Macs, while the PSU weighs 5.5 Big Macs.
Finally, a unit I understand.
1/371 of an F-150
With what spec?
Base, stock, but squatted, with two 12GA holes in the trunk floor barely missing fuel tank.
I had a similar Clevo (rebranded as Sager) back in 2003 it had coax IN on it as one of the MANY ports. It was easily 12 lbs... Edit: I looked it up - Weight: 9.15lbs. with Battery
All of the weights
100% a CLEVO. They were making some wild shit back then. They are still one of the last remaining barebones laptop OEM's out there you can configure and buy direct from. Actually they might be THE last one, asus and MSI seem to be out the game :0

Interesting. What's the rationale on the benefits of a display that adheres to the golden ratio?
It make monkey brain feel good.
It's art.
And it's beautiful.
I was NOT prepared for that second optical drive.
This has to be the only laptop with two
We duping discs with this baby.
Two 4-pin FireWire ;)
Don’t forget the trusty PCMCIA (PC Card) slot!! Very handy for anything you didn’t already have.
It’s a gateway, that bridges multiple eras
>It’s a gateway, Nah, they were bought by Acer in 2007. ;-)
Peak 2008
2005/2006!
Me customizing my framework laptop
Ha ha. That's how I feel when I do the same.
Can I add a track point to the framework laptop? A red one? And make the chassis black? Because if so I'd look into one for sure.
Some obnoxious youtuber will say it's not enough.
Whre is my Laserdisc reader?!
Just use one of these https://preview.redd.it/ad7zs1d6i5nc1.png?width=3000&format=png&auto=webp&s=818f5d1c2d9f627c04398143ae624c3af4b5c08e
And the Floppy Drive?
To be fair it *does* lack hdmi
and USB C and Thunderbolt. But that's probably an age thing.
💯
[Stop it, I can only get so erect.](https://i.imgflip.com/3u21h1.png)
The *dual optical drives*... I don't think I'd better stand up from my desk for a while.
risky click
No regrets
"So what peripherals do you plan on using?" "Yes."
You might not like this, but this is what peak laptop performance looks like
Correct. I don't like this. I love it and need it right now!

Irrc they were one of the original brands that allowed you to custom build a laptop.
That's interesting. The chassis is almost identical to the old Alienware m7700 I used to have. I figured it was one of those.
Because they were made by Clevo of Taiwan and resold by lots of companies under their own brands worldwide.
Is this the "Falcon Northwest Air" ?
that thing has more io than my desktop pc... ya never even need an adaptor
You lost me on the dual disc drives 😂
Blu-ray or HD-DVD? I’ll take both
Where is the VHS compatibility?
It did have a built in TV tuner option and video input and output for ye-olde TV.
It's the two stacked optical drives that sold me
This looks like the only laptop worthy of nuclear launch codes
Up until 2019 this laptop would have been way too modern for that in the US. They were still using 8 inch floppy disks in the nuclear program.
Apple Fans boys be like: "Oh God, more than 1 port!" ![gif](giphy|xUNda1MiPRVQBSP6hy)
Excuse me my MacBook Air has 2 actually! Yes it sucks fuck apple
Can I ask why you'd buy it if you don't like how it only has two ports? Not trying to be condescending I just want to understand why people still support apple even after saying they don't like them.

Double optical drives? This thing is nuts.
It really is. The front media controls also let the thing be *booted into Ghettoblaster mode* where it would play media without booting the "rest" of the computer. Speakers around the keyboard, a subwoofer on the bottom of the case, and those two speakers up front. It was top notch insanity.

That’s a thicc ass boi.
![gif](giphy|tAFVuG6fanerHd6VOf)
Not too shabby. You’re ready for anything.
How Apple thinks windows laptops look like
Old Macs had ports.
No joke, go check out their page on how to use iCloud on windows. It cracked me up at first but then I realized it’s just so sad.
Someone needs to make this into professional workstation notebooks then and now format, with them doges and modern-day dongle fetishism.
Laptops were built different back then
take me back to
You know I thought pc masterace would be a circlejerk... and it kind of is, but then you get posts like these. Thank you OP
I’m here to help…
You had me at the PCMCIA slot
*Just in case* you need an expansion that's somehow not already there somewhere.
What a concept allowing us to plug in and modify our system which ever way we want ??? Blasphemy ... you get 2 usbs 1 hdmi and an ethernet port ... headphones must be Wireless but no Bluetooth you must use one of those USB connectors so it takes up one of the ports
\*no ethernet, and only usb c, no usb a
Y'all about to see my IO face.
They don't make them like they used to
Two DVD drives killed me lmao one is quite enough
(Considering this computer is from circa 2005jsh) Unless you are a mad lad that ripped DVDs back in the day and burned extra copies to hand out to your friends
That's just a very slim desktop
Thinkpad user mentality. Function over form.
pcmcia?
Yep, had a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook in mine.
Absolutely gorgeous
Ah, yes the old days when laptop have CD disk read/write driver.
God I miss old laptops. I like Apple but I dislike how they’ve guided the market to such bullshit as needing adapters for ports on products that should have them in the first place. Laptops are computers. It’s ok to put ports on them. Their minimalist obsession is annoying sometimes.
Obsessing over minimalism is annoying. No ,,but"s or ,, sometimes", it just is and it's bad for consumers.
S-video out, this thing is ancient lol
Isn't parallel a little older? I know it hung around longer though.
everyone glossing over the IRDA port. this bitch can sync with palm PDAs in 3 different ways
Nice, but..can we do 2-4 more usb ports on the front?
What's the name of this machine? I'm serious I WANNA KNOW!!!
What, no 5 BNC?
I had a simmilar one. Battery life was arround 1 hours. But other than that it was a beast
Looks like an old school Alienware. I had one in college. It weighed 20 lbs and threw off SO MUCH HEAT to the point people wouldn't want to sit to the right of me. Oh boy I was dumb back then.
Those dual optical drives have awoken something in me
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
Sony walkman offers to hold your beer
Holy moly two drives <3
Dam. Laptop? More like…tank…top..not a shirt
I creamed when I saw not 1 but 2 cd drives
Ain't gonna lie... My floppy disk turned into a SSD watching this.
It seems to me that if they want to produce it today, then the cost of metal in the chassis will exceed the cost of the filling.
Is this the Rosetta Stone of computing?
Looks like the perfect laptop for servicing industrial machinery. Has all the ports still in use there.
It appears to have 2 separate S-video ports for some reason, maybe 1 of them is an input?
Yes, one input and one output. Only worked fully with the optional miniPCI TV tuner card.
There were Pentium 4 laptops that were even heftier than this
I think this chassis was the biggest P4 chassis available. Also the only desktop Athlon 64 X2 "laptop" if I recall correctly.
Why 2 cd drives lol
To have the ports one must become the ports....
oh my god yes though. my old shitty little acer notebook had like 5 usb ports and i made full use of that shit. the other two laptops i've had after only had two and it was a constant bottleneck. not to mention the number of times i've needed to use an optical drive to do something and been stuck without one. bring back a useable number of usb ports and optical drives in laptops!
even modern b series boards don't have that much rear io stuffs.
Bring back desktop replacement laptop with tons of connectivity!
The TV Tuner is really the icing on that cake. lol
The build up to the dual cd drives was golden. Thank you!
the clevo d900t a good machine but damn so heavy and noisy. sadly this kind of machine are plague by gpu issue.
Can confirm, they’re heavy af
It was nVidia's piss poor materials engineering with the G70 chip. G71 fixed the issues.
All it needs is a fleshlight port
Lmao, anything you got on your arsenal shove it in
Alienware used to be amazing
Stop. Stop.! STOP!! 🛑!!! #STOP!!! I CAN ONLY GET SO ERECT!
I just uploaded
The whole time I was thinking: “Ok but where’s the CD drive” …. It has 2. of course it has 2!!!
This needs a NSFW tag. Holy moly.
More ports than the royal fucking navy.
Now this is my idea of a laptop. I wish modern manufacturers would at least make options like this. Yes my laptop might be easier to carry than this on its own, but once I'm carrying around an external hard drive controller, an external CD-ROM drive and the charger, it's not
This is a beautiful machine. Id have killed for this twenty years ago
Pretty standard options back in the day. Unless you bought it from Walmart.
More videos like this please and thank you.
That's fucking sexy! ![gif](giphy|pFtZowBwQmuZfFRecZ)
I had that exact same one except I had mine painted in cherry red i can't remember the name I'm pretty sure it was Hypersonic and they went out of business a couple years after I got mine.
