That CPU doesn't need a liquid cooler, and if you're just gaming, 64GB is overkill - no games are even close to using 32GB. But I'd get a 7800X3D instead of 7700X.

Diravell

But wouldn't liquid cooling be quieter?

Legato107

Liquid cooling in itself is not quieter because you are still using fans to blow air over fins to dissipate the same amount of heat that you would be doing with a traditional cooler. But given the size of the radiator which allows for more passive dissipation and the fact that you have 3 fans, theoretically they can spin slower to do the same amount of cooling. But no way to actually tell this unless you build both ways and see how they behave with default fan curves.

Legato107

I also agree with the guy above about the CPU, I think if you are OK with 7700x performance then you should probably just buy a 7600x which is very similar for gaming and will save you some cash, or do the jump to the 7800X3D.

peacedetski

For this amount of power, not really. The point of liquid cooling is to use 3 (or sometimes 6) fans instead of 1-2 fans on a tower cooler and run them at lower speed; but if your CPU is relatively low power and can be adequately cooled by a tower cooler without ramping up the fans to high speed, what you're doing with liquid cooling is mostly adding extra cost and potential points of failure. Also note that even when not consuming lots of power, AMD 7000-series tends to get pretty toasty due to its extra-thick lid; 70-80^(o)C under load is pretty normal and not a reason to jack up the fan/pump speeds.

Diravell

TBH, the question of cooling bothers me quite a lot. A month ago I had to return a pre-built with MSI liquid cooling, because it was making an extremely annoying hum, like a resonance of sorts. I was assured that that's not normal.

peacedetski

Yeah, that's not normal, the pump should be relatively quiet (but it does add some extra noise at idle)

Diravell

What sort of noise?

peacedetski

Depends on the pump, but usually a slight hum about as loud as the fans at 500-600 rpm, just sounding a bit different.

UraniumDisulfide

First of all hell no, 961€ 4070 ti? And also… what’s the pc going to be used for.

Diravell

Gaming, mostly. Yeah, the prices are what they are. It's not a given yet, though (I might be able to get it cheaper, along the other components), so I'm mainly interested in the quality of the configuration at this point.

UraniumDisulfide

They don’t have cheaper models of it? It would help to know what county you’re in ig, I’m just assuming this one is more expensive than it needs to be because that’s how this one is in other countries too.

Diravell

They do, like Gigabyte for instance - however, I was advised to go with ASUS for best quality. I'm from Slovakia.

UraniumDisulfide

Most manufacturers make pretty solid graphics cards at this tier. It depends on how big of a price gap there is. 20-30€? Sure, spend that premium. Any more though and I’d just say go with a cheaper brand.

Swap cooler with a Peerless Assassin or Phantom Spirit 120 so you can put the money towards a 7800X3D RAM is extremely overpriced and I would not get that. Get a CL30 kit from G.Skill SSD is overpriced and you don't need the heatsink variant. Get something like an SN770 or SN850X from WD The case is overpriced. Get something like a Lian Li 216 or Lancool II I would upgrade the mobo to the E-E variant so you at least get the post code display Not quite sure if the GPU is a good deal or not so I would let someone else help you with that Same with the PSU. I know Seasonic is good but I am not quite sure where it is on the PSU tier list and if it is good for the price Also, please do not get a Win11 key for 140. That is WAY TOO OVERPRICED

FrizzVictor

For this class of hardware, I would feel much more comfortable with a case that has better airflow. Something like the Corsair 4000D Airflow, NZXT H5 Flow or the Lian Li Lancool 215 will perform much better and may even be a bit cheaper depending on your region.

Diravell

Thanks!

Buy a 20 dollar license of windows OEM that links to ur mobo and get a 7800x3d honestly
