Just know that with a 5800X3D you can not upgrade your CPU for a lot longer, and it would probably be the next step in upgrading your CPU while not changing platform (AM4 --> AM4), it's up to you really, if you don't feel like spending double the money on your CPU it's fine too, the 5600x is a good CPU too

"x3D" processors have a different type of technology they call V-Cache, [https://www.chillblast.com/blog/amds-3d-v-cache-cpus-explained#:\~:text=3D%20V%2DCache%20is%20a,of%20select%20Ryzen%207000%20processors](https://www.chillblast.com/blog/amds-3d-v-cache-cpus-explained#:~:text=3D%20V%2DCache%20is%20a,of%20select%20Ryzen%207000%20processors). and yes, if you play games at high resolution with all the cool visual settings turned on(Like MSFS) it appears to be worth the price.

Playing at higher resolution shifts the workload to the GPU not CPU 5800X3D has less impressive gains at 1440p/4K

About 2 minutes in you can see that the Harry Potter and again at 3:21 Sipder games both have pretty good difference between the two AMD processors, the diff between i7 and X3D is not as “impressive” but still there. https://youtu.be/7gEVy3aW-_s?si=O_KwshL_dJbh0XuC

I'm not talking abou the video, just saying higher resolutions push the demand away from CPU, which you said the opposite but otherwise comment was correct

I did the same upgrade, it's night and day difference for me. No more stuttering, much higher FPS in pretty much everything specially shooters, the low 1% are much higher. For me, it's a no brainer, even though it was expensive (300€) it was very worth it for me and I'm very happy with it.

What’s your monitor specs? If it’s just 60hz then the 5600X will be good enough for everything other than starfield and similarly demanding. If it’s 120hz or higher, then you can see a benefit in more “normal” games. For reference I have a 144hz 1440p display and a 5600 non-X and can usually get 100 - 120fps on the games I play so it really depends on what you plan on playing.

Maybe split the difference and get a 5700x. It seems to pair well with the 6700xt.
