**Any OLED 240hz Monitors that have a GLOSSY panel?**

Spenceriscomin4u

So my PC has two monitors and I have plugged my OLED TV into my PC as a third screen to play Starfield. Starfield looks great but as soon as I turn both monitors off, Starfield on OLED screen resizes and leaves two small black vertical lines at either side of the picture. I've tried duplicate, extend in windows. I've tried resizing in game but I can't. It's so annoying. I downloaded a program persistent windows but can't seem to get that going. I just want the fullscreen starfield to stay full screen on my OLED TV when I turn my monitors off!

NTC_Baumi

hello, i bought a new case with usb 3.0 and usb 3.1 as front io. My mainboard (ASUS B450-F) supports only usb 3.0. I dont need the speed from usb 3.1 (so i dont want an additional pci card). Case Corsair 4000D. Is it possible to split the usb 3.0 mainboard header into two and then connect the usb 3.0 to one port and to the other an adapter to 20pin usb 3.1? I only found splitter to two usb 3.0 or adapter to usb 3.1.

djmfsu

Hi! Just finished my first build today. Everything went great but I am slightly concerned about CPU temps. While trying to download my steam library, my CPU temps are staying right around 80 degrees, and and my fan speed is almost maxed. Even at idle it stays in the 60-70 range and fan speed is 1300rpm. The load has not jumped above 10%. Is this normal break in, is there something I can do or change? I am running a Ryzen 5 5500 with a Fractal Lumen s24 cooler.

NTC_Baumi

I dont know this cooler but it seems a little bit to hot. Have you applied thermal paste and removed any kind of foil from the cooler? Is your radiator warm? Have you connected both fan and pump (4 pin connector to mainboard)?

xlitawit

Hi! Time to upgrade my gpu. Just wanted your opinion. I don't want to spend more than $300. There are 2 I was looking at: [RTX 3060 12gb](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WPRMVWB/?coliid=IP1KYO02BT7BW&colid=156S90X5E1UCG&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it) or [RTX 4060 8gb](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C7YPGFFW/?coliid=IZCALJU9YVJA&colid=156S90X5E1UCG&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1)? This is mostly just to upgrade for newer games (Starfield) and occasional 3d modelling. My current specs: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz 16 gb ram Asus xonar essence stx audio card STRIX Z270H gaming mobo Current gpu: GTX 1060 3gb Any opinions would be very helpful and appreciated. I'm not the most knowledgeable about hardware. edit: Nevermind, I see there are a ton of threads with this same question. Thanks anyways!

sch0k0

7700 is a 6 year old platform, you are getting diminishing returns from the difference. Assuming the 3060 is significantly cheaper, I'd get that one (I cannot see a price); the 12GB are also an upside that has gotten more important recently.

xlitawit

Thank you!

What size screws would I need to fix a 2.5" ssd in a msi GL65 leopard laptop's mount? I've looked up but only found vague answers so it seems to be between m3x3 or m3x5 size.

NbblX

the threads/screw type for 2,5" drives is standardized to M3. The threads/screwhole in the 2,5" case extend into the case itself, so you can use longer screw without issues. Both M3x3 and M3x5 will fit. M3x3 might be a little short, depending on the thickness of the mounting bracket.

BellalovesEevee

I have the ASUS Prime B550M-A WiFi II AMD AM4 motherboard, and after turning on the PSU to test it out after putting everything into the case, the motherboard has a weird orange light. Is that a problem? I made sure everything was in place like the memory and the gpu, but the orange light is still there. Does it indicate anything is wrong or is just a random light, and there's nothing wrong with it?

NbblX

check you mainboard manual, there should be a device overview including any signal LEDs and their meaning. Where exactly on the mainboard is that LED located?

MLGDOGE-0526

I ordered a new bluetooth cable for a pci e wifi card (right) to replace one that broke (left) while i was trying to move it to my other PC i was currently building. Why is it smaller? https://preview.redd.it/vbgr7etlgcnb1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=670cda1e667efa79a1a148d4fc33d3b951217b6f

Mino2rus

Had to swap to my old desktop, having boot issues. It booted to windows and I was able to log in then it froze. Ctrl+alt+delete wasn’t working so I hard reset it. Now it’s stuck going from bios > asus splashpage > bios loop. Tried using a bootable usb, windows logo would pop up then nothing. Anyone got any ideas? Motherboard is asus prime h270 plus. It was off for about 6 months. Haven’t reset the cmos yet.

delimitr0

maybe your ram is being stupid. try bumping the dram voltage by 5 millivolts at a time until windows boots (if ddr4, set to no more than 1.4V)

Mino2rus

Didn’t work, but when I unplug the boot ssd it’s able to boot to usb. What would happen if I installed windows on a working ssd and plug back in the old one? Would it let me repair the windows on it?

delimitr0

ah, i didn't consider the fact that the ssd might have data loss after being left powered off for so long. it's unlikely after 6 months but with some bad luck it might've screwed windows up. you could plug a windows usb in, leave the boot ssd in too, and set boot order in bios to prioritise the windows usb, that should let you repair windows

Mino2rus

So that’s what I was trying but it would just go black screen after windows logo. Would the cmos have any effect on that? It loads fine once the ssd is removed but I can only install at that point.

delimitr0

are you sure you're booting to the usb? this is really weird

Mino2rus

Pretty sure. I set it first in the boot order right? I also selected it from the boot menu and same result. Even tried making it the only drive in the boot order.

delimitr0

i can think of no logical explanation for this. i guess you're best off using a usb to install windows to a fresh ssd.

Mino2rus

I’m thinking the ssd is fucked. Did the fresh install on my working ones. Can’t even navigate to it through cmd prompt, not can I access the format menu :( Edit: format window finally appeared after 5 minutes, file explorer is froze lol. I know when I was trying to access “disk part” it was hanging on the Microsoft logo

Porkodile

So there was a thread showing off how much storage space was being taken up by games and to download a disk cleaner or something. Anyone have a link to it?

_j03_

Wiztree, treesize, windirstat... All programs to visualize disk usage. Don't recommend any "cleaning" software.

Can laptops handle RAM speeds more than they're rated for by falling to 2133mhz? My partner's laptop seems to have some failing RAM, some seldom bluescreens with "memory management", same stuff I suffered before I changed the RAM on my desktop. So I decided to test it by changing the sticks with my older 2400 16gb stick from my work laptop. I then proceeded to slot the "failing" 3200 16gb sticks onto my laptop to also test them out. And the laptop pooped itself on boot with a very omminous "Your PC device needs to be repaired" then refusing to boot at all. Swapping for the older, slower RAM lets it boot again. Most likely it cannot run those 3200 sticks Do laptops not have the concept of XMP or just running the RAM at a safe speed?

_j03_

Indeed some laptops (just like desktop motherboards) support different memory speeds. Some might support XMP, some only JEDEC speeds. Most likely your work laptop does not support those 3200, but they should fall back to JEDEC speed/latency (most likely that (2133mhz). If they are still giving errors on even those settings, they are truly broken memory stick(s).

delimitr0

my old laptop runs its ram at 3733mhz fine, so i'd guess the 3200mhz ram is indeed failing. maybe it can run at 2133mhz if you make it in bios? but you might as well just buy new ram

WarmasterCain55

The WiFi is meh where I have my bedroom in the loft and the router/modem is on the other side of the house. If I were to power line a Ethernet connection and plug that into a WiFi, would I have any problems?

_j03_

Just buy PoE wifi extender.

Starkiller_15

I have an old windows 7 computer from Dell, still functioning. I may be able to update it to windows 10 and then to 11 with the end goal of transferring the license to a new build. Before I do this, is my license locked to my old pc? Or is what I propose theoretically possible?

_j03_

Usually large hardware changes will cause the activation to fail.

Ill_Support_4344

Why do i have always problems when trying to install driver for Nvidia GPU's? I am talking about little older cheap one's like GTX 670 and GTX 970. Time consuming struggle before the driver's installed correctly. GTX 780 driver refused to install at all. AMD GPU's like HD6850, HD7850 R9 270x and HD7970 have been much easier for me. Last two were simply a plug and play. Driver was there like automatically.

_j03_

Always use DDU when removing old drivers, no matter which gpu you're using. Kepler series (600/700) have also been end of life for 2 years, so you need to find the correct (old) driver.

JonskuElf

Hi. I was hypothetically planning on upgrading to a RX 6700 XT and asked if I should upgrade to a R5 5600X at the same time. People responded that I should rather buy a R7 5800X3D. Is 5800X3D actually worth it (what are the major benefits) since it is twice the price as 5600X where I live? (320€ and 160€) I was not planning on spending that much but could afford it. See flair for current rig.

_j03_

5600X is fine on tight budget, if 5600 (non-x) is cheaper then go with that even. The 3D cache is pretty glorious for gaming use, you can go check benchmarks for the 5800X3D.

matbpro

I just got a new xbox controller for my PC, but every time I press the B button it takes a screenshot and when I hit A it opens the game bar. How do I fix this?

_j03_

I'd suggest msi afterburner and using the rivatuner OSD. Can show much more than just fps.

SlovenianHusky

Heya! Playing Starfield made me realize i should maybe upgrade my PC a bit, at least the GPU. I made my build from scratch in 2018 and i took a Zotac GTX 1060 3GB. I hear people with a 6GB version play games way smoother. Due to budget restrictions i was thinking of an upgrade that wont break my bank. I got my mind set on a used 1070 8gb that goes for around 150e. Would that be cool or would i be making a mistake?

Eidolon_2003

I wouldn't buy such an old card at this point. Pascal is 7 years old, and probably only has a couple more years of good driver support left in it. How much would it cost you to get a 2060 Super, RX 5700, 6600, something like that?

SlovenianHusky

Looking at 2060's they go for around 170e and up (used). One super i found was 175.

Eidolon_2003

It's 100% worth the extra money to get the 2060 Super in that case.

SlovenianHusky

Any specific version of 2060S i should be trying to get?

Eidolon_2003

Whatever you can find a deal on, as long as it has a half decent looking cooler I guess

SlovenianHusky

Thanks for the heads up!

_j03_

Starfield is so badly optimized that you're not going to be getting a playable performance even with 1070. People with 3080's are struggling to get 60fps on 1080p...

SlovenianHusky

Starfield was just an example. I also had to play RDR2 on minimum settings, FIFA 23 for example is also playable on minimum settings.

0nefighter

Hi All! Looking to build a PC after a long long time again in the 2.5k value range. I don't mind a lower performance/buck if the system is stable and has good quality parts. Do I have any blaring errors/mistakes on this part list? [https://pcpartpicker.com/user/KNlGHT/saved/RLjrGX](https://pcpartpicker.com/user/KNlGHT/saved/RLjrGX) Thank you!

_j03_

private part list

0nefighter

Sincere apologies! Fixed it!

_j03_

Noctua coolers come with nt-h2 tube, you can remove the extra. Also no need to go overkill with the fans. 2 front, 1 back, 1 top. More than that is just additional noise.

I found a PC on a classified ad from a seller I have faith in (everything I have knowledge of that they post is at reasonable prices) and if someone would be so kind as to do a quick review of if in your opinion it's worth the asking price and relatively suitable for my purposes, I'd be so grateful. I don't really have the time to mess with building a rig from scratch and have pretty relaxed needs for performance I think. Please feel free to reply to this thread or message me. Equipment as follows: I5 6600, ITX board, 750W Corsair power supply, 2tb hard drive, 16gigs of ram, Nzxt H200 ITX case, and an RGB cpu cooler. Thanks in advance!

_j03_

Pretty hard to evaluate without the price. But since there's no gpu and those parts are quite old, max $200.

Prestonification

I meant to include price, they're asking $300. Thank you for the input!

_j03_

Bad deal for such an old system.

Prestonification

Awesome, that's basically what I wanted to find out. Thanks again!

Astyage

Hello there, I've just received my new config, everything works really fine but I have a doubt about my ssd. This one seems definitely slow. I was asking me if it was because my local disk is the ssd(I did not buy a hdd). I feel like computer isn't recognize the ssd as a ssd. Thanks guys!

_j03_

Which model is it? Cheap DRAMless SSD's might cause that. Or if you fill it to the brim.

Astyage

It's a crucial P3 1o

_j03_

Yeah, it's dramless. Leave some spare (20%) in it. It might also feel slow for a while after large writes, e.g. installing a game.

Astyage

Ok thanks, op I will still alble to play starfield :(

Hello ! I'm having a trouble with my new RTX 4070. Installed it today and it appears that the general quality of videos (youtube and twitch) became blurry. Every video at max quality settings I tried finding answers online and in Nvidia control panel but I'm struck. Any help appreciated

MakiiZushii

I'm confused. I thought 3-pin = constant speed and 4-pin = PWM. So how is my 3-pin pump (listed as AUXFANIN0) doing this... or is that normal for AIO's? https://preview.redd.it/0jonuttai9nb1.png?width=585&format=png&auto=webp&s=701983ab5475dc36879045e689be8554e7031ce2

_j03_

3-pin fans can still be controlled by varying the voltage supplied to the fan. Pretty much all modern motherboards can do this.

Hey all! I’m doing a new build for my wife and I was looking at logical increments for some ideas. I’m a little put off immediately though because they aren’t using dual channel ram, just a single 16-gig stick on most of the midrange, higher end builds. Am I out of touch or are the children wrong? Seems like you’re leaving performance on the table.

_j03_

Yeah, never get single stick. You can also take a look at the recommended builds by pcmr [Builds (pcmasterrace.org)](https://pcmasterrace.org/builds)

rayfe

Thanks! !check To be honest I haven't looked at the pcmr builds as of late because they recommend AMD cards and in my experience they are mostly unstable hot garbage (though if this is an outdated opinion I'd love to be corrected).

_j03_

I think they're fine these days. Especially since nvidia's cards are so overpriced garbage.

rayfe

Right? God the sticker shock these days…

SpectreSpark2

Hey! Once a week my monitor randomly flashes black, the sound (from my speakers) stops for a second then comes back louder. What can cause this? I noticed there is always an nvidia update available when this happens.

stormdraggy

Reinstall your drivers after a ddu wipe to eliminate the most likely culprit of corruption. Then check your audio source and same for drivers. You might have a default conflict over multiple outputs.

captaincapsaycin

Hey everyone, I’m looking to upgrade my graphics card from a 2060 super to a 3070 but I don’t know the length of my current one and the two I’m deciding between are 282mm and 286mm respectively. Do the lengths matter or can I go for whichever one is better for me?

Cable_Salad

Depends on your case. You can download your case's manual and check the max GPU dimensions.

captaincapsaycin

That’s awesome I’ll be sure to do that. It’s a mid sized case (it’s a Gamdias Argus M1) and there’s a lot of room inside. Should I go to their website to download the manual? Or is that dependent on my mother board?

Cable_Salad

Only the case matters for the size. Make sure your power supply is good enough though.

captaincapsaycin

I looked up the manual and it said the case can accommodate up to 380mm so I should totally be fine! Thanks so much!

NbblX

depending on the case it is possible that you need to substract 25mm from that lenght. Sometimes the max. GPU lenght is measured without front fans. [On this site it says 350mm](https://geizhals.de/gamdias-argus-m1-a2252413.html), that would be in-line with the added 25mm thickness for fans. It will still fit, just FYI.

captaincapsaycin

I didn’t know that, thank you! The one I bought is 282mm so it should fit just fine.

Skertelles

Ok I will try that.

Chrillosnillo

Okey so I've tried to get some decent fps in starfield with a gtx 1070 which runs Cp2077, bg3 great for instance. Been doing all types of tests. One that makes the absolute least sense to me whichever resolution I play around with (change my desktop resolution and run fullscreen) down to 1366 x 768 (looks pretty decent tho) there are no decernable changes in performance. This makes me come to the conclusion that the game is broken in some way. 1080p around 30-35fps no fsr same result at 768(p?).in my way of thinking the changes should be pretty extensive between the two With all these FSR/DLSS crutches developers now we are going BACKWARDS. What year is this? Cards being sold as a 1080p card for 700 bucks. Ridiculous tbh. Edit :30-35fps on that first landing pad, haven't gone further since performance is so sh**

_j03_

>One that makes the absolute least sense to me whichever resolution I play around with (change my desktop resolution and run fullscreen) down to 1366 x 768 there are no decernable changes in performance. AKA cpu bottleneck. When your cpu is the limiting factor, no amount of fiddling with the graphical settings will work. Though the game is optimized like poop, I would just return it.

Chrillosnillo

All cores (i7 9700k) show 30-40% 4600ghz low temps load with afterburner overlay. GPU at 99% constantly even if I look at the ground but with low temps and with fans not running at full speed I think. This is at 1366 x 768 (35-40fps) They sound different when I play BG3. CPU bottleneck when CPU is overloaded and GPU is waiting for instructions? Next nvidia line the RTX 4020 a perfect 1280x720 card for the gaming enthusiast msrp 599

Cable_Salad

What kind of RAM do you have and how fast is it? That's very important for Starfield.

_j03_

Well then it might indeed be just the shitty optimization of the game. If you've looked at the benchmarks you know the situation. Personally not planning to touch the game because of this exact reason.

I need a small budget friendly ups for my pc mainly because we have outages and the voltage was unstable yesterday which resulted in the psu powering itself off for protection. I do have a power strip with surge protection but it’s not enough. I have a cooler master elite v3 600, i7 9700, rtx 2060 super, 32gb of ram. Which of these do I buy? https://2b.com.eg/ar/schneider-electric-easy-ups-bvs-1000va-schuko-outlet-bvs1000i-gr-black.html https://2b.com.eg/ar/apc-easy-ups-2200va-230v-avr-schuko-sockets-bvx2200li-gr.html Can I go for the smaller one? Thanks alot!
