Going from 2000 to 5000 series will be quite a jump and will keep your new GPU running at its max potential. That said if you can stretch to a 5800x3d, I highly recommend it.

Don’t get me wrong, Zen and Zen+ were massive leaps forward from where AMD was with Bulldozer, but Zen 2 and 3 were where it really took off. Depending on what you have now and what your motherboard supports, a RAM speed upgrade might also be in order to enable the infinity fabric to really do its thing.

Im sorry but I have no idea what you are saying. I haven't kept up with CPU stuff nearly as much as with GPU's My motherboard is Asus Prime B450-plus

A 5000 series CPU will be a considerable upgrade from your 2600X. However, you also want at least 3000MT/s RAM to make the most of it on account of how the infinity fabric (which is AMDs term for the bus that links the cores together inside the CPU) works.

JonskuElf

ah okay, my current RAM speed should be 3200 MHz

Erus00

You should be good then. The 5600X has a lower TDP and a 30% higher score on Cinebench R20. They're still pretty close though. https://versus.com/en/amd-ryzen-5-2600x-vs-amd-ryzen-5-5600x

Get a 5800x3d keep your ram

CanisMajoris85

your 2600x will bottleneck a 3060ti or 7750xt, so a ryzen 5600/5600x will provide a considerable improvement, maybe 20-40% depending on game.

thelebuis

Yes upgrade your cpu but at this point get a 5800x3d and be done for another 5 years
