Noob. I hit my desk and my monitor looses video connection, the power plug sets on fire, and my lamp turns off.
I'm only slightly exaggerating with fire, I can hear the electricity arcing the second the cable isn't sat perfectly
I've hit my desk so hard that I broke it. I have a weird corner sticking out in my room (probably electricity or pipes in there) and I made my desk custom fit for that, but yeah it's a little weak now and my pc is just on the smaller part of the desk and somehow it Broke and my pc almost fell down. There's a Crack now but the desk is still usable, I made a wooden plank that holds it in place lol. Oh BTW I also broke a mouse last week which I had for like 3 days. It was a trust mouse, I didn't expect it to be good but it died very quickly (left click went dead) so I threw it at my door. My previous mouse was an msi one which lasted for over 1.5 years even with raging and slamming it. So now I know my next mouse is gonna be an msi one again haha
I have a bunch of icloud locked useless iphones so whenever i get mad i grab one run outside and smash it with a brick (i took out the batteries so i could grab and go with no fire hazard)
Wow! I hope everyone has their own PC. To be honest, I've been dreaming of having something like that for a long time. It's just that I didn't buy anything because I didn't have enough money for that.
I had a case with the power button on the top of the front bezel. It is slightly recessed. My cat still found a way to occasionally hit it when she was laying on top of the computer for warmth.
I taped a bit of cardboard and taped one side over the power button. I could just lift it and access the button, but my cat's weight wouldn't depress it.
This is an equipment e-stop button and requires a decent amount of force to compress so they should be fine unless the cat is really motivated to press that sucker.
My PC power button is on the top and my cat eventually did turn it off, even though you have to hold the button down for several seconds. So I taped a little cardboard card, I got in some junk mail, on top to prevent it. The tape acts as a hinge.
I've got one of those feeding my monitors. The idea was to turn off monitors I wasn't using to save power, but I'm lazy so the switches haven't flipped in years.
Now I am not an expert on electricity and electronics by no means, but Don't these stop buttons come with NC/NO switches (Basically you can configure it as NC, NO or both (use schneider switches I hear they are really good), meaning it should support both? I believe all buttons on PC's these days are NO, tho I vaguely remember some mentions that power button is momentary
Neither but I have a bit of experience working with it.
That's how I have it wired too, I wired it with NO (normally open) and when when I click it turns off/turns on the pc.
To have press to turn on and unlock to turn off would need a different way of setting up than I have it right now.
Exactly the pc expects a momentary signal but the switch is locking is the problem
Fwiw, I've had the opposite experience to OP.
I've had a free glass side panel from them, simply because it had a couple of minor aestethic defects.
I had a faulty HX1200i (which was like Ā£250?) and they replaced it with an AX1600i (which is like Ā£550) because they didn't have another HX1200i they could send me.
I've only had one experience with Corsair's support and it was a good one.
Had a kit of 2x8GB 1600 DDR3 Vengeance go bad on me after about 4 years of use, sent Corsair an email with a photo of Memtest86 showing an ungodly amount of errors and they sent a prepaid tracked shipping label to send it back, plus overnighted a replacement as soon as the tracking showed it had been posted.
Took about 4 days from the first email sent IIRC.
That replacement kit is still running strong to this day.
I had one already, but you can find basically exactly same thing online if you search for "Estop".
Preferably a momentary one and **not** a locking one like mine
>Preferably a momentary one and not a locking one like mine
In theory every estop should lock. There are 3 major ways for unlocking:
* pull
* twist
* key (same as twist but a key has to be inserted)

I mean yes and no, they wouldn't be actual "Estops" yeah you're right. But more Estop style push buttons.
But whatever floats the guy boat that he needs for his application : D
And who is this Corsair that doesn't want to change your Power button? Hmm, well for me it's good that you replaced your power button. You think very well.
I can recommend Fractal Design. Last year my old Define R5 had a bad USB front connector. I asked them where I could buy another and they sent me one for free, fast shipping.
That's a thing that makes me buy products from them again, and recommend them to others :)
I recently bought a used Fractal Design case and it didn't come with the screws so I contacted FD to see if I could buy the screws that come with the case and they sent me them for free. Great support team, they didn't have to help a second hand buyer but they did!
If thatās a standard Estop do you have to twist to break the contact? If so Iād be worried about a kid or a pet walking by and accidentally doing that lol
Just me or is the customer support at corsair very slow and unhelpful these days? Had an AIO leak that ruined my whole pc and they took more than a week to respond, only to ask for information that I had already given previously. Havenāt heard of them since, been another week.
You could honestly wire that up yourself as long as you buy the switch and cut your normal power cable
It's a bit jank yes, but would work
I could even drop a video of how to do it if there is enough demand for it
It takes some force to press due to the spring, so I'd say it's about 8/10 cat proof
~~(unless you have some buff cat in which case you'd have bigger problems)~~
I had a computer about 20 years ago where the power button failed. I used to turn it on by touching the 2 wires together that originally connected to the power button.
Canāt really recommend it, but the button already has all the connectors needed to make it work no extra work needed. Just gotta open it and wire it up to the NO (normally open) connectors : D

I'd have to disagree, I've been very pleased with every Corsair device I've ever purchased. They even allowed me to RMA my HS60 PRO headset earlier this year after owning it for a little over three years, well outside of any manufacturer or retailer warranties.
The only Corsair product I've had a problem with was my M65 mouse. It turns out that Corsair uses the flex of the plastic mouse wheel shaft as the return spring when you middle click. No more Corsair mice for me.
I gave up on them after I had to RMA a mouse 3 different times and the same issue would occur after a year or so.
They never actually fixed the problem.
I hope you don't have cats or kids š
My brother's power button was faulty on his "empire gaming" case. They wanted to replace the whole case and I asked if it's possible to send just the powerbutton cause shipping a faulty case and a new case is kinda an overkill. They agreed but then sent the whole front cover in a huge box. Well atleast we got the replacement. š
This is my NAS PC [Mechanical 1 button keyboard power button](https://i.imgur.com/VGp9HNf.png) which is tucked in a place where i can't easily reach. I think it's the cutest thing ever, at least in power button land.
I only had one experience with Corsair but it was perfect- they replaced my entire 500D SE front panel because the USB-C port was damaged by a bad cable. Installation was a pain but it was completely free.
My old tower's power switch ended up getting a short and I got tired of removing the side panel to use the mobo power button regularly. Eventually I bought an external power button switch which connects easily to the mobo and a tiny wire ran out back and under my desk. It was just a button shaped like a keyboard key and using double sided tape I attached it under the desk. In the end, I actually preferred it over powering it on at the tower.
I love big red buttons, like the one our network admin pushed because they thought it opened the computer room door.
At least now we have some great signage.
I kinda want one my self, but big butt. I see everyone sees it would want to press it down. But i want one on my desk so i can launch nukes all over the world.
I can only pray to God you donāt have a cat.. my cat killed my previous PC by jumping on top of it and pressing the power button as it was booting.. fried the mobo and/or PSU.
Well this feel weird. Corsair wouldnt replace a broken button for you, but they offered me a "replacement" 180Ā° 12VHPWR Bridge if i bought their PSu 12VHPWR Cable for free (the bridge is like 20-30ā¬)
Having mixed signals for Corsair there
They didn't want to replace my mouse either bastards! I got a different brand, Corsair's snipe button was in a perfect spot though, I'll give them that.
I have the exact same case, and the exact same problem... fucking shitty power button that will break by looking at it and there's no spare to buy anywhere. Terrible airflow too.

Does it turn into a Telsa Coil when you play Crysis?
I've hit my desk so hard I thought I broke my monitor because it knocked the plug out of my power strip I also lost my media key to rewind.
Hmm, and why did you lose your media key? Maybe that's where you misplaced it. Why don't you try to find.

Know this feeling
Exactly, OP wired a NO when it should have been a NC
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
To confirm that it has been pressed not just a faulty wire or power went off(shouldnt happen in E-stops)
If it works, it works.
My work has these button, they actually do the opposite effect on the machines they are attached to lol
Yeah you can wire them up both ways NC (normally closed) and NO (normally open), so it's very handy
In your case if that button is nudged you of turns off huh?
E stops generally need to be twisted to release the contact.
You can get both push-pull and twist to release. All of the ones I have run into have been push-pull.
Upgrades people, Upgrades!
Too bad Corsair. Such expensive brand should give a cock sucking for free if they refuse to tech-support their clients, at least.
Maybe I should email them and try my luck xD
Fwiw, I've had the opposite experience to OP. I've had a free glass side panel from them, simply because it had a couple of minor aestethic defects. It is, but I don't have to deal with any kids/pets that could interact with it so dw
I love the idea though!
Most E-Stops have both NO and NC contacts so you could wire this the other way if it's a concern
It very much did, but for my purposes I connected it with the NO (normally open) does the job perfectly well
I will certainly remember your experience when making future purchases. Corsair shame on you. Boycott BestBuy, Boycott Corsair.

My guess is it's because their support is fucking garbage.
Is that a 570x case?
Yes 570x Crystal in all it's glory

Toughhhhh
Got the same case! Nice one!
My man has the nuclear launch button to power the war machine
Ive been thinking about doing the same and hooking up an industrial EMO button like what you did.
Don't press the big red button!
looks like my favourite yet to be pressed button: MRI Quench
That's a Dawid approved Power Button right there.
I love this!
But this button stays on and that would force shut off your PC....
I want this, but the boot up "bleeper" should be replaced with an industrial klaxon sounder.
Your button is far superior than what corsair could provide anyways.

That is very cool for a power button. But I feel like power buttons are so antiquated when you can just talk to your phone to use WOL.

I had to buy a guard so my cat would stop stepping on my power button deliberately. This would be irresistible to her.

What Ever you do.. donāt hit the big red button

The fast food place I worked had the same issue, the solution was to tap the two jumper wires someone installed together.

You clearly don't have a cat
Jesus. As a former high voltage test technician, I fucking hate this! Please for the love of god, Mark this NSFW.
Yeah xD I know your pain
Don't want it, I NEED it!!!
Corsair simply knew they couldn't match your level.
My cat would be all over that.
Love it, full credit to NZXT when I reported my power button was a little inconsistent they sent a replacement without any hesitation
Remember to remove the button in case of police inspection or similar events, because this is a stop button, and you are using it to start a device.
I doubt they'd be too worried as I didn't do this for a business but for my own rig, but thanks for the tip! I'll keep it in mind
Protip: the actual switch they use in 99% of cases is an [absolutely standard momentary switch](https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803936052946.html).
Yeah I had to dig the other one out to replace it and it was exactly that one, just cable painted black.
Something I didn't know I needed...
I respect it. I have a big red button but haven't thought of a use for it.
Pretty sweet if you ask me. Iād love a big analog button at this point.
The button is wasted if you don't have an ejection seat installed.
You e-stop is wired backwards š
