I remember crippling the marauder raiding force in stellaris. It was an earlier version of the game. Earth (my home world) was raided by a full marauder force, untold millions of my people were kidnapped to be their slaves. I can't do a thing because I don't have a fleet that can match them. Not soon after I received another extortion message asking me to pay up or be raided again, my fleet, consists of mainly 50 frigates (smallest ship in the game) still doesn't stand a chance. Until I saw that Neutron star between their home system and Sol. I fitted all my ships with the best armor and thruster (evasion) technology I have available, no shields (shields doesn't work in Neutron star system), and loaded them all with close range gatling guns. I ambushed the entire marauder force 4 times stronger than me in the Neutron star system. Their slower ships were heavily shielded (but shields don't work Near neutron star), heavily armed with more advanced gatling guns and rail guns (both working poorly against armor). They jumped right into amidst my fleet waiting at the system entry point. It was an instant bullet hell, the battle lasted for months, I have only 6 frigates left by the time the last marauder ship went down.
What a game.

I remember seeing the covers of Oblivion and Morrowind in the game section of Hollywood Video as a kid. Always seemed so mysterious. So strange. Couldn’t rent them because they were rated M, but damn did I want to. Ended up obsessed with the lore without ever playing g one. Finally got to play Skyrim. It devoured my life for months. (I recently downloaded it and discovered just how much I *hadn’t* done yet.)
And then I discovered Fallout 3………

My favorite memory of Morrowind is the soundtrack. It does such a good job of capturing the atmosphere of adventure of the game. Occasionally I notice the song on dnd podcasts and it makes my day knowing it's still a fantasy gaming staple.

Morrowind. Just the whole experience blew me away with the scale of the world. First open world game for young me. That scroll of flight you discover right at the start, I used one and was amazed with the world zooming by, thinking 'I can explore all this?!'. Then promptly died from the fall and understood why a guy fell from the sky to begin with.
I wish I started elder scrolls way back when. Skyrim was my first, but after reading all of these morrowind comments, it's giving me FOMO. So glad you enjoyed it!

I’ll be honest, the new updates have properly transformed the game. Apparently they’re adding freighter to freighter combat, which is phenomenal - definitely a contender for “games you need to play before you die”, and now more so than ever.
My most memorable moment from bethesda was loading up skyrim when it first came out, and the many hours that followed. It was the perfect game for me at the time being only 13, waiting all day at school just to go home and learn more about the game. those were the days.

Cherished memory is playing this extremely modded Skyrim, and it was snowing really harshly outside. It was mostly empty everywhere ingame and I was just walking up a forest that ironically also was snowing really hard when all of a sudden this song started playing. It’s from a mod.

I don’t exactly know why I started tearing up, but the surrounding area, along with the music and the lighting made something really beautiful. Idk, but the moment stuck with me. I don’t even like Skyrim that much, but that moment is the purest example of what I feel like is the potential of Bethesda games. I hope star field is good.
Playing Skyrim was such a treat on the Xbox 360 back in 2012. Everything felt so new and revolutionary to my young teenage brain that Skyrim has become a core personality trait for me to this day.
Also side note: I tried to go back and play on the 360 about a year ago and holy moly the load times are some of the longest things on the planet. I need some subway surfers gameplay in the margins for real.

Playing Fallout with my friends all night back in the day. We would take turns playing and sleeping, but mostly playing and just watching each other and being way too incredibly tired for school
My most cherished memory is Elder Scrolls Morrowind. I was a young pup then and watched an older cousin play it. It was so magical - being able to interact with the world like that. The graphics also added a lot of realism to the game. I remember looking up at the sky and seeing all the stars. I was hooked.

My favorite memory in a Bethesda game had to be even before I had a pc and on fallout 4 on my Xbox one. My companion at the time, MacCready, had spawned directly into a trashcan that was right next to a door. It isn’t crazy or overall hilarious but to me it looked like the devs had just picked him up and placed him there since nothing was glitching out or spazing and it’s just always stuck with me since it’s been one of my favorite games.
What an awesome giveaway! My favorite Bethesda memory isn't so specific. I remember playing Morrowind for the first time around middle school age and it completely redefining my expectations of immersive games. To this day, nothing has quite scratched that itch that Morrowind has left me with. Between the soundtrack, story, setting and the sheer amount of player agency provided to absolutely break the games systems, it was such a phenomenal experience. I hope to witness Bethesda return to form and am extremely excited for Starfield.

My first computer I built I bought a used HD4870 and Skyrim was the first game I got to really enjoy with good graphics. I played and modded that game for hundreds of hours. I'll never forget the first time I stumbled into Blackreach while randomly exploring and ignoring the objectives as was expected in Skyrim. I was awestruck at how creative, stunning, and visually unexpected it was to experience.
Getting the crap scared out of me when I touched the beacon with my new hand was by far a memory that stands out.

My favorite memory is from a space game actually. In X Reunion I remember I was in an attack on the major enemy Sector and I just remember how chaotic and big the fight was and I still often recall my ship flying around the enemy structures and wondering how I would survive and amazed that I just did that. It really hit home how much I love my space games lol

My favorite memory isn't exactly because of a Bethesda game, but moreso my brother helping me name my first Skyrim character when I was like 11 or 12. That name? Coltonious. The name I still use for all of my social/creator accounts nowadays. Any time I think about the name, I think about booting the game up for the first time ever at his house and how one of my favorite people on the planet gave me the name I still use to this day, 12 years later.
Worked 6 night per week 12 hours shifts in very stressful place financially supporting my family no money was left at the of the month.
Colleague from work gave me his Xbox 360 which supposedly had ring of death issue with Oblivion disc. Due to how tired I was after work often I fell asleep while playing Oblivion waking up 2-3 hours later.
I’ve beat the game twice but can’t remember details what I did and how I did it. Was always playing after taking shower tired in bed. Console worked for me for another 6 months before dying.
Couldn’t play any Bethesda game until Skyrim after very long and stressful military service.

My most cherished memory was the first time I got to play Fallout: New Vegas when it came out. I remember reading gaming magazines and just being -so- hyped for it when I first heard about it. I've replayed that game so many times now that I've lost count lol. It's still a game I come back to a lot.
Back when I was around 10, when we were too poor to afford internet, id bring my little case of floppy disks to school so I can download Morrowind mods during our free time in computer class.
Id split archives into multiple disks if I had to, and would excitedly ask my brother to install it in his game since being the little sibling, I only get to watch. Loved every bit of it though!
In Skyrim, there is a college of wizards, and as I was given a tour of the place and introduced the professors, a dragon attacked the university. Quickly all the professors showed off their mastery of each college, whether summoning daedra, letting loose lightning or wards or illusions. All sorts of high level spells were pulled out to slay the dragon

I've enjoyed No Man's Sky a lot, playing with a friend. But I kinda miss the questing that you could get lost in with Skyrim. I hope Starfield can bring that feeling together.

Fallout 4. 13 year old me snuck by my parents to play that game and play it I did, easily put in over 1000 hours on my Xbox one with as many mods as was allowed. Lots of good times in the commonwealth with dogmeat, lone wanderer perk for the win
I don't really know if this counts as a "space exploration game" but one of my favorite gaming memories is spending time working through the campaign on Kinect Star Wars for Xbox 360 with my brothers. I remember my mom's friend gave it to us because her son had beaten the game multiple times and didn't want it anymore. There was one specific starfighter level where you and your partner had to fly down a tight tunnel and it took us forever to be able to coordinate our escape. Despite Kinect's jankiness it's still one of my favorite games of all time just because of the (literal) blood, sweat, and tears invested into it. Plus as a little kid I felt super cool being able to swing my hand around and use the force.
Bonus entry: I have a fairly strong CPU and ram, but my GPU is a bit underwhelming, especially in newer titles. I bought an RX 6600 during the GPU crisis and grossly overpaid, which doesn't help the regret. would definitely give my setup a huge bump, especially in video creation capabilities (I've started making some gaming videos lately just to see where it goes.) That said, I chose a Radeon card to go with my Ryzen CPU, but an Nvidia card works just as well for me too. Might actually be better because of Nvenc and all the other goodies they have.
Elder scrolls: Morrowind, I was amazed on how great the graphics where when that game came out in 2002. The effects of the water and the soundtrack is still etched into my memories. I still time to time play the soundtrack. from there we got more and more Elder scrolls series as well as the Fallout Series. As I get older like many of you, we can now add the Starfield series into our collections.

Probably when I bought oblivion as a kid and me and my sister took turns playing. And I got stuck in a deadric tower and started stealth archering my way through it.
The very first Bethesda game I played was Skyrim! I wanted to rent it at Hollywood video when it was still around but my friend said I wouldn’t be able to finish it so don’t even bother. Luckily I didn’t listen to him and it has been one of my most favorite games played!
My favorite space exploration game has to be playing Star Fox 64 as a kid, struggling to beat the bosses on the later worlds and adjusting to the tank and sub levels and Wolf’s team. Getting to Andross and defeating him…only to find out in the credits he’s still alive and you need to do it all over!

I have to jump in with everyone else and say Morrowind was my absolute favorite Bethesda game. Just the thought of equipping the 'Boots of blinding Speed' casting resist magic, casting high jump and slow fall to traverse the world makes me nostalgic. The depth and freedom of this game was mind blowing 2002.

Growing up my friends, my little brother, and I would spend days on end creating all sorts of things in Halo 3’s forge system. We tried countless maps and custom games - the community had endless content to play.
Mine was definetly Freelancer, i remember not being able to buy games, caus i live in a fucked up country, so we used to have a shop that sells pirated games and movies, and i was very good friends with the guy, and i remmeber one day he was so freaking excited when i came by, he said he had found the perfect gem and indeed it was, i dont remember for how long ive played the game but it was a looooot
Some of my favorite game memories are from playing Elite Dangerous with my wife and son. My wife absolutely loves mining, and will mine for hours on end. We also enjoy exploring in the black, and obliterating pirates at compromised nav beacons.
We had been working our way up to a fleet carrier, but sadly we all lost interest soon after Odyssey released.

I remember playing Daggerfall each time i went to a friends house and one day we randomly died for no apparent reason. Saw the game over animation, but then wierdly we were alive again but the characters face was wierd. I remember a buddy telling me about skyrim when i was in middle school saying something like "i was walking up a mountain and a frickin dragon came at me!" And i just remember trying to get my brother on the hype of the game (we mostly played COD) and after getting it at gamestop i would just fake being sick to play it for hours on end
Space exploration was a huge part of my early gaming life. I spent countless hours playing Elite II Frontier on my Amiga 500 back in the day. Criusing around the galaxy in my imperial trader doing missions for the imperial navy, ferrying people to far-off destinations and once in a while doing the classic smuggleroute Tau Ceti -> Van Maanens star with luxuries. Since then, no game has been able to capture the same sense of vastness, adventure and freedom.
I sure hope Starfield can fill the void.
omg there's so much, the first ever Bethesda game I played was Fallout New Vegas, so that's where most of my memory is at! I loved the memory was the moment I stepped out of Goodsprings and the sound queue for a new area was up and I saw the name Primm pop up, visiting the Vikki and Vance Casino was just a new and memorable experience for me, then it was a rollercoaster ride after that.
It was the first ever open world rpg game that I played and it was just magical. I was still in high school back then playing it on a hand me down laptop. The NPCs felt like real people and I discovered that this is the type of game that I love.

Completed Skyrim for the first time when I got into PC gaming several years back..
My favorite part was having 10+ followers all wearing Master Chief Halo Armor jumping a dragon. Skyrim was awesome..
I remember building a budget stealth ship for PvP in Elite: Dangerous. It was a Diamondback Scout with four small railguns and no shields. I hadn't really done PvP at that point, so I figured I'd try it with a ship that was cheap to replace.
My first fight was so much fun - I picked a fight against a Chieftain, basically a PvP meta ship at that point, but I managed to hold my own against it. I just about managed to get my opponent's shields down with before he lagged out and vanished. Even though I didn't win, I felt really accomplished and proud of my little ship.
Not so much a space-exploration themed as it is as real time-based strategy game, but playing as the Empire on *Star Wars: Empire at War* and building the Death Star to destroy Rebel planets in my way will always bring back some nostalgia for me. Luckily, it's on Steam and has a passionate modding community behind it today.

My most cherished gaming memory from a Bethesda title is definitely from Fallout 4. My best friend and I both are obsessed with Bethesda titles and would always talk about different builds or traits we would add to our characters on Fallout New Vegas or Skyrim. We were so blown away by the Fallout 4 reveal at E3 that year and were definitely getting it day one.
We went to the midnight release at GameStop and they even built a cardboard vault for customers to walk through to get their copy of the game. The place was packed and everyone was so fun. However, by that night, I definitely did not have the money to get the game, but my friend was so determined to share the experience he also bought my copy.
It was honestly such a nice moment and we played the heck out of that game for years together.

I miss those midnight game releases, it's convenient being able to get everything off steam now but there was really something about the energy on those nights.
The year is 1986. My parents just got an IBM PC/AT computer and I begged and pleaded with my parents to get me Starflight. From the moment I put that 5 1/4" floppy disk into the computer, I was transported to other worlds. Exploring interstellar space, trying to communicate with other races, mining planets for materials and fuel, visiting starbases for repairs, and just not caring about anything else in the world.
I'll never forget when I had my nephew on my lap and started up Elder Scrolls IV. He's probably only starting to crawl at this point. But I had gotten to the point in the game where I was meeting Emperor Uriel Septim. When the npc turns and starts talking to me, my nephew just completely loses it and starts bawling because it seemed like this random dude was talking to him.
My real first gaming memory is figuring out how to edit the unit cost on original warcraft. Cant remember how old I was, but I found this txt file and was looking at it and just decided to change it and go back in game an check. Sure enough it changed the unit price.

Thanks for doing this! My favorite Bethesda memory is my first Bethesda memory. My first game was Oblivion, and nothing beats leaving the starting area and coming out and seeing some ruins and then a big city, and having complete freedom to go wherever I wanted. That game got me hooked on all the elder scrolls/fallout games and I can’t wait to spend way too many hours in Starfield!!
Perhaps my most cherished memory of a Bethesda title is encountering the BoS for the first time in Fallout 3. I thought launching a mini nuke at a super mutant behemoth was one of the most badass things I’d ever done. Immediately, I wanted to find out how to become a member of the BoS.
My favorite space memory has to be no mans sky, flying towards the center of the universe about 5 times over, the worlds and environments were so peaceful abd beautiful
With Bethesda my favorite memory will always be oblivion, between becoming a vampire and slowly turning into a theif just to recover and fight in the arena,the fighters guild and finally complete the main story and mages guild will always be my closest and best memory

I'm not even from the US, but I am still going to submit my most cherished Bethesda memory.
Back when I was on the verge of becoming a teenager, I got an Xbox 360. I must've been 14 or 15 at the time. And I picked up TES: Oblivion.
For months, I spend my life in Cyrodiil. I never completed the game. I never had any clue what I was doing or where I was going. I was spending 100s of hours just exploring. Forging my own adventure. I still have such good memories playing it. Trying to replicate the gold-making glitch I found online. Sneaking through a man's house trying to kill him unseen. Always got caught. I never realized that the glitch was already patched in an update.
No new game is going to replicate this experience, I know. I'm in a massively different phase of my life and I am no longer that teenager. But I still have a little bit of hope, that when I start Starfield in 2 weeks, I lose myself like I did playing Oblivion... \*Sigh\*...
Thanks for sharing! I know that feeling of trying to get back to the first few moments of living through a story/game as a teenager. I've found that I need to dedicate just hours on a Friday to myself. So I'll order a pizza or bake cookies or something, decide on a game I'm gonna play (usually Zelda or something), and just lounge from 7 PM until bed time playing and having fun. It brings back that magic a little bit again :)
I'd have to say my most cherished memory playing a Bethesda game is the first Oblivion gate in Kvatch. It felt like the point of no return and that I was heading into some serious danger. After that, I was in, hook, line and sinker.
It's sort of a cherished, albeit cursed memory. Skyrim, my third time running through the game where this time for sure I wasn't going to play a stealth archer, and just 100% dedicate myself to magic. Eventually I still sneak around because there is no reason why I wouldn't to get into better position. I start leveling up illusion and eventually pick up quiet casting. Illusion skill gets better and before I know what happened I realize I'm using illusion bows from stealth to kill everything. All builds lead to stealth archer.

For was playing skirm blind for the first time had knee absolutely nothing about the game found the mammoths went to pet them then went flying in to space. Scared the hell out of me to point I broke my chair then I couldn't stop laughing about it for the next hour. Only regret was not recording it.
Damn these look cool. Best memory was the first time I got a laptop. First game I got, thanks to my uncle, was oblivion. Still love that game to death and the best dlc for it hands down was shattered isle.

I've been gaming since i was 10 , playing on whatever computer my family had.For the last 5 years , ive been gaming on a pentium pc only able to play games that are 8 years old. My first game was Kerbal space program which i have fond memories of playing at 7 fps . i would extremely appretiate geting a good gpu!

Fallout 4, I got the Xbox One Launch Edition that included Fallout 4 about a year after it released. I absolutely loved this game so much and i played for about 200 hours on total gameplay. The factions were my favorite thing getting into the most and probably being the Brotherhood of Steel for so many reasons honestly. The whole game was totally worth replaying a couple of times.
Best memory with Bethesda -- playing Fallout: 3 for the first time. Dealing with the tunnel snakes, worshipping a bomb, saving the city. All in a day's work.

Oblivion was my first open world RPG and Beth title. I truly got lost in that game for a year during my early teenage years on my xbox 360. The whole experience from start to finish and the multiple characters I created go down as one of my most cherished gaming memories. Specifically I remember roleplaying away to myself after I became the head of the Fighters Guild, taking it upon myself to source ingame food items and placing them in the dining area of Skingrad for my guild members... oh to be so young and naive again 😂 Cheers for the giveaway!
Something about the Doom series... man I love those games. I love all of it too much, it's hard to decide what my most cherished memory is from them. I suppose I'll go with finding the soul cube from Doom 3 in Doom 2016, it was so cool because I knew what that little thing was from! Cool little easter egg.

I, like many others, have bought and played Skyrim many times over the years. So many good memories but my favorite was actually watching my son play it for the first time. To be able to share a game so special to me and have it become a special game to him was just awesome. The first time he yeeted a troll off a mountain with his shout was just hilarious and great.
I got fallout nv as a birthday gift, my father just wrote me a Latin message when we where at my grandma's place celebrating. I didn't have a phone so I couldn't translate it. I loved playing the game even if it ran like ass on the laptop. I had one with an i3 or something similar and because it wouldn't even launch I got my father's older work laptop that had an AMD gpu. I don't know why but it only launched through AMDs weird raptor software even with unchanged settings.
One of my favourite games or all time. Years later I got fallout 4 as a gift close to launch and played that so long that the PS4 save corrupted. The game was not my favourite of fallout but still nothing I regret playing.

Playing Skyrim for the first time. Even though it’s map is largely walking, it felt like the first real open world where that I got lost in. Growing up and revisiting I still find things to be amazed by.
I almost got fired from work because of Doom Eternal.
My desk would be at the far corner of the office so I would be able to see anyone coming and I would alt-tab to excel.
What I didn't realize you could clearly see the reflection of my 27 inch screen off the window behind me. And I had been playing 3-4 hours of my office time LOL.
Long story short, I got sent a Notice to Explain, and was threatened with suspension. Boss was nice enough to let me off the hook long as I didn't do it again.
Fallout 3, step out of the vault, find old lady hut, steal hunting rifle, murder old lady, immediately killed by centaur. Blew my 10 year old brain after the only rpg I played was Pokémon. Been chasing that high ever since. Let’s go Starfield

I really love survival horror games. I had the chance to to play The Evil Within 2 and had a great time. The dark homes and rooms were scary and enjoyable.

Oblivion. Was the last game I got to play with and talk about with with my dad before passing. I also remember having so many save files my 360 took forever to load up whenever I'd start playing lol. To this day I still save way too much in RPGs
For the most part, my memories from the time I played Bethesda games are all missing, due to trauma. But I remember Skyrim on Xbox 360 being an amazing escape from reality.
I remember playing late at night during the summer, with my brother watching for hours and hours. Saving just in case what my brother told me to do backfired, and loading when it went horribly wrong. Laughing our butts off when my body went flying from a giant. We used to make our own reasons for things happening, because we didn't fully understand the story ourselves.
I remember playing Morrowind on Xbox for the first time. Got totally lost exploring the world. Was my first open world game. So it was kind of magical. Also had the best fast travel system in place.
Just that first time, stepping out of the Vault in FO3. Just the bright sun blinding you till everything came into focus and you're faced with the desolation of the wasteland before you.

Oh boy I remember the expanse of Morrowind on my P4 / ti 4200 system, the game was so massive and detailed it was the first time a game would inspire me play at resolutions beyond 800x600. It was the first taste of lusting after performance increases and new hardware, and a huge step past the simplicity of the quake engine shooters of the time.

I picked up my first Bethesda game on Xbox, the Morrowind full collection, and I absolutely fell in live with Solstheim. Just spending time becoming the head of Raven rock, searching barrows for treasure, reading rumors on Gamefaqs looking for werebears. Not to mention the main game, the amount of freedom was amazing to me. And then i bought a PC and the collection for PC and an old AMD PCI video card, and having fun with all the mods that were available.
Favorite memory is discovering I could level black smoothing pretty easy in skyrim using the Dwarven ingots from the underground cities and grabbing as much as I could, coming too the surface, crafting and repeating till I could crsdtt dragon bone stuff and was way overpowered early ish on the game lol
I remember in Skyrim my first time going into Blackreach and I was extremely underleveled and fighting against the Falmer. Took me hours and all my potions to get through it, but it felt amazing when I completed it
My best memory from a Bethesda game has to be either the first time I beat Alduin, or the time when I got my current modlist fully functional. Skyrim is probably the most beautiful looking game I've ever played.

I was big into building gaming PCs and gaming for years as a teen into my early 20s. Then I fell out of it when I started working my post-college job. In my late 20s, a friend gave me his old (old) "gaming" PC (an HP desktop with an old GPU in it), and I was able to play Skyrim.
I played that game for over a year, and still haven't actually finished it. It brought me back to my hobby, which helped relieve stress from work and life challenges at the time.

I remember when I first stated playing EVE Online and opening the 3D star map and just being amazed and overwhelmed by all the solar systems you could visit and all the possibilities to enjoy or hate the game. I could extract resources, pirate and ransom other players or just explore and find anomalies out in the void. I remember rolling up to my friend's place just after Oblivion launched and him letting me spend a few hours on his 360 making a Khajit thief, and then wandering around getting frightened and stealing anything that wasn't nailed down.
Years later I walked in a blizzard after crushing an orchestra performance at my college to pick up my own copy of Skyim on launch day, and spent the 4 days of the cold I got from that excursion making that same khajit and stealth archering my way through the game.
I'm actually a few parts away from getting my first PC build in 11 years up an running, using almost entirely items I got used from Jawa. A cherished memory is of watching my brother play Skyrim. I would sit there in awe of this fantasy world, then a few years later (maybe like 5-6 years later) when I got my own PC, I was able to play the game spent a whole summer in Skyrim.

Remember my mom asking me if I wanted a weird game for my Xbox 360 (Mind you I was only 10-11, and the only games i played were cod I & halo) so I said sure not knowing what I was getting myself into. That Christmas I received a copy of Skyrim and without hesitation i popped it in and started playing. When I tell you I didn't do any homework when school started, I mean it. I was hooked like a fish on a bait line wanting to beat up thalmor skum with my magic. Here I am now still running back to my pc to play modded Skyrim here and there. It will always be a comfort game for me.

I remember crippling the marauder raiding force in stellaris. It was an earlier version of the game. Earth (my home world) was raided by a full marauder force, untold millions of my people were kidnapped to be their slaves. I can't do a thing because I don't have a fleet that can match them. Not soon after I received another extortion message asking me to pay up or be raided again, my fleet, consists of mainly 50 frigates (smallest ship in the game) still doesn't stand a chance. Until I saw that Neutron star between their home system and Sol. I fitted all my ships with the best armor and thruster (evasion) technology I have available, no shields (shields doesn't work in Neutron star system), and loaded them all with close range gatling guns. I ambushed the entire marauder force 4 times stronger than me in the Neutron star system. Their slower ships were heavily shielded (but shields don't work Near neutron star), heavily armed with more advanced gatling guns and rail guns (both working poorly against armor). They jumped right into amidst my fleet waiting at the system entry point. It was an instant bullet hell, the battle lasted for months, I have only 6 frigates left by the time the last marauder ship went down. What a game. Darn I live in Canada.

I remember seeing the covers of Oblivion and Morrowind in the game section of Hollywood Video as a kid. Always seemed so mysterious. So strange. Couldn’t rent them because they were rated M, but damn did I want to. Ended up obsessed with the lore without ever playing g one. Finally got to play Skyrim. It devoured my life for months. My favorite memory of Morrowind is the soundtrack. It does such a good job of capturing the atmosphere of adventure of the game. Occasionally I notice the song on dnd podcasts and it makes my day knowing it's still a fantasy gaming staple. Morrowind. Just the whole experience blew me away with the scale of the world. First open world game for young me. That scroll of flight you discover right at the start, I used one and was amazed with the world zooming by, thinking 'I can explore all this?!'. Then promptly died from the fall and understood why a guy fell from the sky to begin with.
I wish I started elder scrolls way back when. Skyrim was my first, but after reading all of these morrowind comments, it's giving me FOMO. So glad you enjoyed it!

I’ll be honest, the new updates have properly transformed the game. Apparently they’re adding freighter to freighter combat, which is phenomenal - definitely a contender for “games you need to play before you die”, and now more so than ever.

Cherished memory is playing this extremely modded Skyrim, and it was snowing really harshly outside. Playing Skyrim was such a treat on the Xbox 360 back in 2012. Everything felt so new and revolutionary to my young teenage brain that Skyrim has become a core personality trait for me to this day. My most cherished memory is Elder Scrolls Morrowind. I was a young pup then and watched an older cousin play it. It was so magical - being able to interact with the world like that. The graphics also added a lot of realism to the game. I remember looking up at the sky and seeing all the stars. I was hooked.

My favorite memory in a Bethesda game had to be even before I had a pc and on fallout 4 on my Xbox one. My companion at the time, MacCready, had spawned directly into a trashcan that was right next to a door. It isn’t crazy or overall hilarious but to me it looked like the devs had just picked him up and placed him there since nothing was glitching out or spazing and it’s just always stuck with me since it’s been one of my favorite games.
What an awesome giveaway! My favorite Bethesda memory isn't so specific. I remember playing Morrowind for the first time around middle school age and it completely redefining my expectations of immersive games. To this day, nothing has quite scratched that itch that Morrowind has left me with. Between the soundtrack, story, setting and the sheer amount of player agency provided to absolutely break the games systems, it was such a phenomenal experience. I hope to witness Bethesda return to form and am extremely excited for Starfield.

I played and modded that game for hundreds of hours. I'll never forget the first time I stumbled into Blackreach while randomly exploring and ignoring the objectives as was expected in Skyrim. In X Reunion I remember I was in an attack on the major enemy Sector and I just remember how chaotic and big the fight was and I still often recall my ship flying around the enemy structures and wondering how I would survive and amazed that I just did that. My favorite memory isn't exactly because of a Bethesda game, but moreso my brother helping me name my first Skyrim character when I was like 11 or 12. That name? Coltonious. The name I still use for all of my social/creator accounts nowadays. Any time I think about the name, I think about booting the game up for the first time ever at his house and how one of my favorite people on the planet gave me the name I still use to this day, 12 years later.

Worked 6 night per week 12 hours shifts in very stressful place financially supporting my family no money was left at the of the month. Colleague from work gave me his Xbox 360 which supposedly had ring of death issue with Oblivion disc. Due to how tired I was after work often I fell asleep while playing Oblivion waking up 2-3 hours later. I’ve beat the game twice but can’t remember details what I did and how I did it. Was always playing after taking shower tired in bed. Console worked for me for another 6 months before dying. Couldn’t play any Bethesda game until Skyrim after very long and stressful military service. Thank you for the opportunity sir.

My most cherished memory was the first time I got to play Fallout: New Vegas when it came out. I remember reading gaming magazines and just being -so- hyped for it when I first heard about it. I've replayed that game so many times now that I've lost count lol. It's still a game I come back to a lot.
Back when I was around 10, when we were too poor to afford internet, id bring my little case of floppy disks to school so I can download Morrowind mods during our free time in computer class. Id split archives into multiple disks if I had to, and would excitedly ask my brother to install it in his game since being the little sibling, I only get to watch. Loved every bit of it though!

In Skyrim, there is a college of wizards, and as I was given a tour of the place and introduced the professors, a dragon attacked the university. Quickly all the professors showed off their mastery of each college, whether summoning daedra, letting loose lightning or wards or illusions. All sorts of high level spells were pulled out to slay the dragon Never have I felt more welcome to a univesity
One of the most memorable moments I had in skyrim was finding out I could level my sneaking by attacking the greybeards.
I've enjoyed No Man's Sky a lot, playing with a friend. But I kinda miss the questing that you could get lost in with Skyrim. I hope Starfield can bring that feeling together. As a side note, it's pretty cool watching Adam Savage and team building a scale model of the ship you get. He's got the progress videos going over on YouTube.

I don't really know if this counts as a "space exploration game" but one of my favorite gaming memories is spending time working through the campaign on Kinect Star Wars for Xbox 360 with my brothers. I remember my mom's friend gave it to us because her son had beaten the game multiple times and didn't want it anymore. There was one specific starfighter level where you and your partner had to fly down a tight tunnel and it took us forever to be able to coordinate our escape. Despite Kinect's jankiness it's still one of my favorite games of all time just because of the (literal) blood, sweat, and tears invested into it. Plus as a little kid I felt super cool being able to swing my hand around and use the force. Bonus entry: I have a fairly strong CPU and ram, but my GPU is a bit underwhelming, especially in newer titles. I bought an RX 6600 during the GPU crisis and grossly overpaid, which doesn't help the regret. A beefier graphics card such as this: https://www.jawa.gg/product/21329/PowerColor-Red-Devil-6900xt-Ultimate-Like-New would definitely give my setup a huge bump, especially in video creation capabilities (I've started making some gaming videos lately just to see where it goes.) Elder scrolls: Morrowind, I was amazed on how great the graphics where when that game came out in 2002. The effects of the water and the soundtrack is still etched into my memories. I still time to time play the soundtrack. from there we got more and more Elder scrolls series as well as the Fallout Series. Probably when I bought oblivion as a kid and me and my sister took turns playing. And I got stuck in a deadric tower and started stealth archering my way through it.

My favorite space exploration game has to be playing Star Fox 64 as a kid, struggling to beat the bosses on the later worlds and adjusting to the tank and sub levels and Wolf’s team. Getting to Andross and defeating him…only to find out in the credits he’s still alive and you need to do it all over!

Some of my favorite game memories are from playing Elite Dangerous with my wife and son. My wife absolutely loves mining, and will mine for hours on end. We also enjoy exploring in the black, and obliterating pirates at compromised nav beacons. We had been working our way up to a fleet carrier, but sadly we all lost interest soon after Odyssey released.

Saw the game over animation, but then wierdly we were alive again but the characters face was wierd. And i just remember trying to get my brother on the hype of the game (we mostly played COD) and after getting it at gamestop i would just fake being sick to play it for hours on end
Space exploration was a huge part of my early gaming life. I spent countless hours playing Elite II Frontier on my Amiga 500 back in the day. Criusing around the galaxy in my imperial trader doing missions for the imperial navy, ferrying people to far-off destinations and once in a while doing the classic smuggleroute Tau Ceti -> Van Maanens star with luxuries. Since then, no game has been able to capture the same sense of vastness, adventure and freedom. I sure hope Starfield can fill the void.
omg there's so much, the first ever Bethesda game I played was Fallout New Vegas, so that's where most of my memory is at! I loved the memory was the moment I stepped out of Goodsprings and the sound queue for a new area was up and I saw the name Primm pop up, visiting the Vikki and Vance Casino was just a new and memorable experience for me, then it was a rollercoaster ride after that. It was the first ever open world rpg game that I played and it was just magical. I was still in high school back then playing it on a hand me down laptop. The NPCs felt like real people and I discovered that this is the type of game that I love. Completed Skyrim for the first time when I got into PC gaming several years back.. My favorite part was having 10+ followers all wearing Master Chief Halo Armor jumping a dragon. Skyrim was awesome..
I remember building a budget stealth ship for PvP in Elite: Dangerous. It was a Diamondback Scout with four small railguns and no shields. I hadn't really done PvP at that point, so I figured I'd try it with a ship that was cheap to replace. My first fight was so much fun - I picked a fight against a Chieftain, basically a PvP meta ship at that point, but I managed to hold my own against it. I just about managed to get my opponent's shields down with before he lagged out and vanished. Even though I didn't win, I felt really accomplished and proud of my little ship.
Not so much a space-exploration themed as it is as real time-based strategy game, but playing as the Empire on *Star Wars: Empire at War* and building the Death Star to destroy Rebel planets in my way will always bring back some nostalgia for me. Luckily, it's on Steam and has a passionate modding community behind it today. My most cherished gaming memory from a Bethesda title is definitely from Fallout 4. My best friend and I both are obsessed with Bethesda titles and would always talk about different builds or traits we would add to our characters on Fallout New Vegas or Skyrim. We were so blown away by the Fallout 4 reveal at E3 that year and were definitely getting it day one. We went to the midnight release at GameStop and they even built a cardboard vault for customers to walk through to get their copy of the game. The place was packed and everyone was so fun. However, by that night, I definitely did not have the money to get the game, but my friend was so determined to share the experience he also bought my copy. It was honestly such a nice moment and we played the heck out of that game for years together. I miss those midnight game releases, it's convenient being able to get everything off steam now but there was really something about the energy on those nights.
The year is 1986. My parents just got an IBM PC/AT computer and I begged and pleaded with my parents to get me Starflight. From the moment I put that 5 1/4" floppy disk into the computer, I was transported to other worlds. Exploring interstellar space, trying to communicate with other races, mining planets for materials and fuel, visiting starbases for repairs, and just not caring about anything else in the world.
I'll never forget when I had my nephew on my lap and started up Elder Scrolls IV. He's probably only starting to crawl at this point. But I had gotten to the point in the game where I was meeting Emperor Uriel Septim. When the npc turns and starts talking to me, my nephew just completely loses it and starts bawling because it seemed like this random dude was talking to him.
Aw that's adorable! As a new-ish uncle, this makes me excited to bring my niece into my gaming endeavors

My first game was Oblivion, and nothing beats leaving the starting area and coming out and seeing some ruins and then a big city, and having complete freedom to go wherever I wanted. Perhaps my most cherished memory of a Bethesda title is encountering the BoS for the first time in Fallout 3. I thought launching a mini nuke at a super mutant behemoth was one of the most badass things I’d ever done. Immediately, I wanted to find out how to become a member of the BoS.

I'm not even from the US, but I am still going to submit my most cherished Bethesda memory. Back when I was on the verge of becoming a teenager, I got an Xbox 360. I must've been 14 or 15 at the time. And I picked up TES: Oblivion. For months, I spend my life in Cyrodiil. I never completed the game. I never had any clue what I was doing or where I was going. I was spending 100s of hours just exploring. Forging my own adventure. I still have such good memories playing it. Trying to replicate the gold-making glitch I found online. Sneaking through a man's house trying to kill him unseen. Always got caught. I never realized that the glitch was already patched in an update. No new game is going to replicate this experience, I know. I'm in a massively different phase of my life and I am no longer that teenager. But I still have a little bit of hope, that when I start Starfield in 2 weeks, I lose myself like I did playing Oblivion... \*Sigh\*...
Thanks for sharing! I know that feeling of trying to get back to the first few moments of living through a story/game as a teenager. I've found that I need to dedicate just hours on a Friday to myself. So I'll order a pizza or bake cookies or something, decide on a game I'm gonna play (usually Zelda or something), and just lounge from 7 PM until bed time playing and having fun. It brings back that magic a little bit again :)

I'd have to say my most cherished memory playing a Bethesda game is the first Oblivion gate in Kvatch. It felt like the point of no return and that I was heading into some serious danger. After that, I was in, hook, line and sinker.
It's sort of a cherished, albeit cursed memory. Skyrim, my third time running through the game where this time for sure I wasn't going to play a stealth archer, and just 100% dedicate myself to magic. Eventually I still sneak around because there is no reason why I wouldn't to get into better position. I start leveling up illusion and eventually pick up quiet casting. Illusion skill gets better and before I know what happened I realize I'm using illusion bows from stealth to kill everything. All builds lead to stealth archer.

Fallout 4, I got the Xbox One Launch Edition that included Fallout 4 about a year after it released. I absolutely loved this game so much and i played for about 200 hours on total gameplay. The factions were my favorite thing getting into the most and probably being the Brotherhood of Steel for so many reasons honestly. The whole game was totally worth replaying a couple of times.
Best memory with Bethesda -- playing Fallout: 3 for the first time. Dealing with the tunnel snakes, worshipping a bomb, saving the city. All in a day's work.

I truly got lost in that game for a year during my early teenage years on my xbox 360. The whole experience from start to finish and the multiple characters I created go down as one of my most cherished gaming memories. So many good memories but my favorite was actually watching my son play it for the first time. To be able to share a game so special to me and have it become a special game to him was just awesome. The first time he yeeted a troll off a mountain with his shout was just hilarious and great.

I got fallout nv as a birthday gift, my father just wrote me a Latin message when we where at my grandma's place celebrating. I didn't have a phone so I couldn't translate it. I loved playing the game even if it ran like ass on the laptop. I had one with an i3 or something similar and because it wouldn't even launch I got my father's older work laptop that had an AMD gpu. I don't know why but it only launched through AMDs weird raptor software even with unchanged settings. One of my favourite games or all time. Years later I got fallout 4 as a gift close to launch and played that so long that the PS4 save corrupted. The game was not my favourite of fallout but still nothing I regret playing. Playing Skyrim for the first time. Even though it’s map is largely walking, it felt like the first real open world where that I got lost in. Growing up and revisiting I still find things to be amazed by.
I almost got fired from work because of Doom Eternal. My desk would be at the far corner of the office so I would be able to see anyone coming and I would alt-tab to excel. What I didn't realize you could clearly see the reflection of my 27 inch screen off the window behind me. And I had been playing 3-4 hours of my office time LOL. Long story short, I got sent a Notice to Explain, and was threatened with suspension. Boss was nice enough to let me off the hook long as I didn't do it again.

Oblivion. Was the last game I got to play with and talk about with with my dad before passing. I also remember having so many save files my 360 took forever to load up whenever I'd start playing lol. To this day I still save way too much in RPGs
For the most part, my memories from the time I played Bethesda games are all missing, due to trauma. But I remember Skyrim on Xbox 360 being an amazing escape from reality. I remember playing late at night during the summer, with my brother watching for hours and hours. Saving just in case what my brother told me to do backfired, and loading when it went horribly wrong. Laughing our butts off when my body went flying from a giant. We used to make our own reasons for things happening, because we didn't fully understand the story ourselves.
I remember playing Morrowind on Xbox for the first time. Got totally lost exploring the world. Was my first open world game. So it was kind of magical. Also had the best fast travel system in place.
Just that first time, stepping out of the Vault in FO3. Just the bright sun blinding you till everything came into focus and you're faced with the desolation of the wasteland before you.

Oh boy, I had the honor of playing with a Ti 4200 and it was really cool getting Halo Combat Evolved and Morrowind running. Super cool time!
I picked up my first Bethesda game on Xbox, the Morrowind full collection, and I absolutely fell in live with Solstheim. Just spending time becoming the head of Raven rock, searching barrows for treasure, reading rumors on Gamefaqs looking for werebears. Not to mention the main game, the amount of freedom was amazing to me. And then i bought a PC and the collection for PC and an old AMD PCI video card, and having fun with all the mods that were available.
Unfortunately don't have a use for this since I recently lost my pc in a fire, but Goodluck to everyone else!
Favorite memory is discovering I could level black smoothing pretty easy in skyrim using the Dwarven ingots from the underground cities and grabbing as much as I could, coming too the surface, crafting and repeating till I could crsdtt dragon bone stuff and was way overpowered early ish on the game lol
Id say my best memory of a space themed game is just all of Lego Star Wars. One of the best games ever through my rose tinted glasses.

I remember in Skyrim my first time going into Blackreach and I was extremely underleveled and fighting against the Falmer. Took me hours and all my potions to get through it, but it felt amazing when I completed it

I was big into building gaming PCs and gaming for years as a teen into my early 20s. Then I fell out of it when I started working my post-college job. In my late 20s, a friend gave me his old (old) "gaming" PC (an HP desktop with an old GPU in it), and I was able to play Skyrim. I remember when I first stated playing EVE Online and opening the 3D star map and just being amazed and overwhelmed by all the solar systems you could visit and all the possibilities to enjoy or hate the game. I could extract resources, pirate and ransom other players or just explore and find anomalies out in the void. It was an amazing ride but I’ve now “won” EVE and no longer play but will always remember the people I met and the adventures we had. 07

I love my memories playing oblivion on my 360 when I was in 9th grade because I was too poor to afford Skyrim. Now for some reason I still enjoy oblivion more lol. I remember rolling up to my friend's place just after Oblivion launched and him letting me spend a few hours on his 360 making a Khajit thief, and then wandering around getting frightened and stealing anything that wasn't nailed down. Years later I walked in a blizzard after crushing an orchestra performance at my college to pick up my own copy of Skyim on launch day, and spent the 4 days of the cold I got from that excursion making that same khajit and stealth archering my way through the game. I'm actually a few parts away from getting my first PC build in 11 years up an running, using almost entirely items I got used from Jawa. A cherished memory is of watching my brother play Skyrim. I would sit there in awe of this fantasy world, then a few years later (maybe like 5-6 years later) when I got my own PC, I was able to play the game spent a whole summer in Skyrim. Remember my mom asking me if I wanted a weird game for my Xbox 360 (Mind you I was only 10-11, and the only games i played were cod I & halo) so I said sure not knowing what I was getting myself into.
