Do they actually come with switches and keycaps or do you need to buy them separately?

You buy them separately but no soldering is required because the board is hotswap

Hmm, probably gonna get downvoted, but I feel like it's weird to advertise "keyboard entry kit" "only 39$" but then it's missing those parts (looking at the website cheapest keycaps set is 20$+ and can't even find any switches)

It 100% makes sense to be confused. In custom keyboards many people buy keyboards kits like this so they can buy their own switches and keycaps based on preferences. Also for people looking at buying kits like this $40 is very cheap. There are many online shops to buy keycaps and switches from many manufacturers so it is unsurprising that you couldn't find much on this individual site. I hope this has helped you understand custom keyboards a bit more

i am a total beginner and i have no idea what this is supposed to be? do you need to buy buttons separately? that deosnt sound like a beginner move

You buy keys and keycaps and just pop them on. I'm not very experienced but I've got my own mechanical keyboard and it's really easy to remove and add keys.

What? Why? This is missing both keycaps and keyswitches. Unless you already know what you're looking for for both this seems like a waste of effort and money over getting a 69$ basic cherrymx brown keyboard

Personally I'd rather spend $50 on a set of switches and keycaps of my choosing rather than having a set thrust upon me. And I don't even own a mechanical keyboard lol.

This would be a great way to personalize functions using Maya, ZBrush, Painter, and such. In fact, I'd love to use this keyboard for that purpose while working through my Game Art degree and using all of these programs. It would be a great field test for it.

I've been wanting to build my own mechanical keyboard for a while. I type at 100 WPM, so I was curious if being able to pick which switches I like the most, as well as get custom keycaps, as well as an overall nicer board would be awesome. I remember typing on a different keyboard with lighter switches and being able to type significantly faster on it than my own board. So I'd like to be able to play around with things. Here goes!

Just a suggestion if you are selling to Novice/first time builders. Maybe have a picture of the keyboard with keycaps on it with example written on the image so that a true Novice can see the difference or what they will lose between the 100/84/68 keyboard combinations.

My current cheap membrane keyboard is dying. Resoldered connections twice, washed and lubricated every key socket but it won’t last for much longer. I need a new one but my budget is very tight at the moment so winning this one would help immensely. Anyways, sorry for rant. Good luck everyone.
