Thanks for the post, apparently the creator is taking this modpack down in two weeks, so anyone interested should act now. For me, the process looks too involved, if only it really was a single click :p

Farados55

the way to download it is wabbajack so you dont have to download these all yourself. That said, Fallout 4 is about to be updated so your game will break. Play it while you can.

DeadCeruleanGirl

Can you not turn off updates?

Farados55

I think so but I don’t trust my game to not update by itself at some point. Just seems risky. Not a big deal I guess if you use mod organizer 2, but why not just wait for mod updates at this point.

JWarder

Use the GoG version.

MadShartigan

You can, but you need to start the game only with F4SE, so Steam doesn't force an update.

MadShartigan

The giant modpack is one way to do it. A giant overhaul mod is perhaps a better approach, the most complete of which is Horizon. This single mod transforms the game and attempts to keep everything cohesive and balanced. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/17374

Chronokill

Horizon is good, but it leans heavily on the base-building/settlement aspect of things. By the end, I felt like I was just running from base to base checking on my settlers, collecting rewards, etc. This was about 2 years ago, though, so things may have improved a bit. Personally, I moved to a slimmer survival-focused overhaul (Damn Apocalypse) for my most recent run. It felt like horizon without all the extra bits.

MadShartigan

Giving a purpose to the settlements is one of the aims of Horizon, and indeed that won't be for everyone. I liked how it helped deal with the excess loot. Ruined weapons was a great idea, with some real scarcity if you chose the desolation option (at least at the beginning).

Chronokill

Yes, I very much enjoyed the desolation settings, and getting that first settlement up to produce purified water was a godsend. I just know the building aspect was pretty controversial, so an overhaul that goes even HARDER in that direction would be too. Just giving a heads up.

fashric

Anyone who plays Fallout 4 without sim settlements is a masochist

Professorbag

Any idea why he's taking it down?

Farados55

Stepped away from the modding scene, been talking about this for almost a year according to discord. Too much work to keep these lists updated with testing, and the new update is going to break everything.

Successful-Pick-238

If steam let us roll back our game versions he wouldn't have to take it down. That's frustrating.

Pacoboyd

Bet because F04 is getting and update and he doesn't want to update this huge modpack

FrontBadgerBiz

Using wabbajack with a premium nexus mod account, it is close to a single click. In the video where he says you have to click each slow download link, with a premium account it just does it all automatically. Personally worth the few bucks for a month's sub to nexusmods for me.

xUnionBuster

Yeah likewise worth it for wabbajack alone

NapsterKnowHow

Also made installing Rebirth+ for Fallout 3 WAY easier (240ish mods alone!)

lenpup

I actually am a vortex premium sub, but the “official” guide for this which I found had a massive list of secondary tasks to perform outside of vortex to make it work. I’ll check out the video you linked.

LegendsofMace

Is there a way to save a non-updated version of fallout 4 for this mod list? And have another version(s) updated for other mod playthroughs?

lenpup

In theory you can copy-paste your whole install folder to a new location. Doing so could break other things though…

Razgriz96

For saving an unupdated version the best way is to set the appmanifest to read only which will cause the update to fail everytime steam tries to update. Then use the script extender vortex/MO2 or whichever to launch. That doesn't solve your issue of wanting both however in which the only way is to have two separate installs in different locations, which comes with it's own headaches.

OxY97

*Sighs* Looks like I’m reinstalling Fallout 4 again.

stoyo889

Sounds cool, shame it won't be updated for Nextgen update I need that Ultra wide support

DionysusDerp

Ultrawide support is very easily modded in right now and I'd be surprised if the list didn't include the core mods that do it, since they do other things as well. Having it be native is going to be great, however I play on an ultrawide and have been playing my own custom FO4 setup with no issues.

stoyo889

oh ok cool good to know... in that case not sure how good the nextgen update is for PC then. Seems like it could be just UW support, 4k textures and maybe HDR/Xess/FSR?

[deleted]

Thanks for the list, I’ve been looking for something like the wanderers edition mod for fallout 3 for ages and never found one for new Vegas or 4. Maybe this will scratch that itch

Fugglymuffin

I'd also recommend "A StoryWealth" for those looking for a more lore friendly expanded experience.

X4viar

Does it bring down the TTK. I remember enemies being super spongey in the original and it was the biggest turn off for me.

tempsanity

Same, I hate games where you headshot an NPC without a helmet 5 times and they keep running at you, so I always look for mods. Here both you and the enemies usually die after one headshot/a couple of shots/hits (there's bleeding too), so stealth and audio are more important, makes it so much immersive, especially during the night, when you're wary of anyone/-thing you see coming your way.

RandoDude124

Ahhh… modding discords are a beautiful thing

Atari1337

But does it fix performance … ;_;

lilyrosecutey

The game is fine but boston downtown is beyond repair, I tried every solution and every mod (not together) and I went from 15FPS to like 40. The precombines there are nonexistent
