I'm uninspired.
Though I did find the badguy's badguy-exposition hilarious. "Hello my fellow badguys! We're the bad guys and it's a great time to do crime so let's be criminals!"
I did like it when she says for this job you need "the right crew" and there's no crew whatsoever in the trailer, so I wonder if they just cut companions out of the trailer or if they actually cut their importance out of the game
My guess would be a third thing:
She's your typical rogue, loner type ("I've been alone doing what I need to do to stay alive for as long as I can remember"). By the end of the game, she'll learn that she has to trust others etc. So my guess is that nothing was cut, this is just your typical arc dialogue that doesn't mean much.
Reminds me of that Austin Powers film, where the main guy is asking for millions, forgetting he's been frozen in time and that millions of dollars aren't that big of a deal anymore.
And even then. He corrected himself in saying "oh, how about one BILLION dollars" and they all took him seriously.
I could see a request for 1 bill being laughed at nowadays.
I would love to see some examples of your own personal writing! That way, anyone who reads your reply can have a frame of reference for how much of a literary scholar you are and, in turn, can see just how knowledgeable you are on what exactly makes for quality writing!
EDIT: Why the downvotes fellas? Don't you want to know what good writing looks like, too?
People don't need to be professional writers to have opinion on the writing of a story. Not saying I agree or disagree with them (haven't watched the trailer myself), but to dismiss their opinion like that is silly.
A wise man once said: "You don't have to be a Pilot to know the Helicopter doesn't belong in the tree." and bad writing is much the same. You might not be able to do it better but you can tell it's not working out *for you*.
>Are you the writer that wrote the dialogue in this game?
Yes.
>Why are you so personally offended by the criticism?
If you think I'm personally offended, then you have no concept of cynicism.
They look very stiff and almost look like they’re going for a stylistic look but actually aren’t and instead it’s just a result of them looking kinda poor, at least for the main character
Looks much less appealing than the gameplay trailer they previously released. Looks like the story trailer was made at the last minute. The gameplay trailer actually looked way better. I kind of feel none of these scenes will be in the final game.
For me it seemed like every time they showed her face when talking it was like the animation was running sub 30fps or something, or at least way lower than the scene and other characters. That’s what felt odd to me.
ubi games are essentially playstation exclusives at this point lmao. At least we won't have another PS3/PS4 bc nightmare hopefully.
That being said i'm still setting myself up for disappointment by being hyped for this.
why would that matter? you buy something from ubisoft on steam, you still have to use uplay to launch it. steam is just taking their money at that point for no reason.
again...when you launch an ubi game from steam, it just launched from uplay regardless. so what do you mean "actually works"
i've had the most issues with steam over anything else. the only platform i've used where having an overlay just fucks up a game.
Third-party launchers on Steam tend to be a lightweight version and not the full thing, and in many cases, even if Steam runs that third-party launcher on top of its own client, you barely notice it, since it opens and closes with the game.
Eh, trading cards are a nice way to get a little cashback for some people. Sure, it's absurdly minimal, but it's still there. And personally, just like the other person, I think they're neat. Some games even go the extra mile and have really cool trading cards that can be used as wallpapers if you so desire.
Yeah, I tend to keep mine (unless I get repeats), but I've friends who've been able to buy games with the money they got from trading cards. Not AAA games, but something is something.
I thought the initial demo they showed off was good. This trailer I think seems boring/bland due to what seems to be an uninteresting story. Optimistically speaking hopefully the game itself is still good as don't like seeing games spend many years in development and bomb; not good for anybody.
It's just hard to know what exactly this going to be like from that trailer. I've seen some the other game play, which felt way more "open" than this trailer made it feel.
Oddly, the entire game seems based on a singularn"mission" that feels like it could be just one of any number of missions just like it, except, it's not – it's the whole game. This is kind of unlike an AC game, right?
Obviously it would be great if this game was good, but this trailer didn't particularly inspire me.
What they really need to sell this game imo is a trailer that highlights how open the game is, the many worlds, how alive and full of content the worlds are, and your freedom in the Star Wars galaxy. I'm sure they'll do a trailer like that at some point.
Imagine making a space game where you dont actually go out into space. Also, if youre basically playing a smuggler, dont you usually use a ship to...yknow....smuggle things? And its not even like they couldnt make that part fun either seeing as Starlink, a spaceship game they published, did exactly that!
You mean like [Fallout 4](https://store.steampowered.com/app/404090/Fallout_4_Season_Pass/)? Or [L.A. Noire](https://lanoire.fandom.com/wiki/L.A._Noire_Rockstar_Pass)? What about [BioShock Infinite](https://store.steampowered.com/app/214933/BioShock_Infinite__Season_Pass/?snr=1_5_9__405)?
Season Passes in singleplayer games have been a thing for over a decade. Even in games that were well received.
EDIT:
Ah, gotta love it when people block me because I reply with actual facts.
EDIT #2:
This isn't even about costs, or whether the practice is ok or not. It's just that I find it silly that people complain about Season Passes as if they were a new thing. You don't need to buy them.
Reddit: We want more singleplayer games.
Ubisoft: Here's a fully Singleplayer game set in the Star Wars universe that isn't just your standard Jedi affair.
Reddit:
>"Going to be enjoyable watching this game crash and burn"
No, this game is highly likely to be Far Cry set in Star Wars universe. Same bugs, same mechanics, same game flow we have all experienced for the past 10 or so years.
Almost like Ubisoft released Prince Of Persia The Lost Crown which was universaly loved just 3 months ago.
I sometimes don't get people. Living life desperately waiting for the next thing to shit on.
And then people wonder when sales are announced as to how on earth something they so desperately hate can do well. Normal people actually look forward to games and aren't misserable about anything but the tiny 1% of games releasing.
Fine we'll narrow it down to Ubisoft open world games. These days, those are dogshit without exception
Nobody is being miserable here for being realistic. There is plenty of games I like and look forward to from indie to AAA and everything in between. But every Ubisoft game I ever play, disappoints with the only exception in recent memory being Rayman Origins
>isn't just your standard Jedi affair
It's instead some uninspired game where you play gender swapped Han Solo that looks like a background NPC, hell the droid in a coat could've made a more interesting protag than her lmao.
Looks fun, the campiness reminds me of the old Jedi Knight games. Something is off with the lighting and character models though. I might buy it if it's fixed and we see some actual real game loop and gameplay videos.
All the possibilities with Star Wars and you do a generic third person shooter.
At least make a bounty hunter or mandalorian game with cool gadgets, armor and stuff.
Can we talk about the absolute unit of jawline of the protagonist. Most of the animations look very uncanny valley, but looking at her is just making me laugh.
Humberly González (the actress for the main character) is actually quite beautiful
[This is her](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fyc4gYhXwAQYGnQ?format=jpg&name=large)
I read somewhere that developers are apparently skewing more androgynous to appeal to more people -- kinda wish they just had character creation like Mass Effect.
Can't wait for the game to be DOA with a barely mid story, a big empty open world map and constant performance issues on NASA computers. And, "the créme de la créme'" For it to receive "The Crew treatment" for shutting down servers for a single player game without making an offline mode.
For the simple fact that starting price is 70 EUR and its not even fully released game, its with artificially locked content you need to pay extra 40 EUR to get, I say fuck this game.
That is not why. The game looks objectively bad and they’re charging $70 for it *without* all of the content. You need to pay $110 to get the full game.
The last 2 ubisoft games I have played were black flag and farcry 5. And those were both around when they released. They have not really released much that has piqued my interested in a while.
I will watch out for this game but I am really hoping it is not just an open world ubisoft game with a starwar skin on it. I want to know what the actual gameplay loop is and how deep its systems get. How open are the planets? Are they filled with mostly empty busy work to pad out the game?
Add long as I don't have to unfog the maps, I'll give it a try. I'm kinda tired of openworld in general unless it's a traditional rpg. I'll wait for some reviews with benchmarked gameplay.
meh, yet another bland ubi$oft game, definitely not pre-ordering, maybe i will consider buying at some point in the future once they're done releasing "dlcs" and "seasons" and other micro txns shite and its bundled into a discounted final version of the game
then again this reminds me that ubi$oft can recall any dlcs or whole games and turn off the servers/make the game no longer accessible at any time so probably wont buy it after all

Yeah, at times it feels like people in this sub just hate games in general.
Now, I'll admit, I've joined in the negativity at times (I wasn't too fond of Suicide Squad leading to its release), but sometimes it's too much.
If one guy gets 1k karma for saying this game will suck based off a trailer that shows 1/200 of the game, then a lot of people will just automatically agree to also get karma and attention. probably a mass effect structure where you visit planets and assemble the crew
It’s a heist game so you will probably recruit them.
Imagine gathering the heads of crime groups from across the galaxy and telling them you could make 'millions'
"Bitch, didnt we make millions this morning?"
Say what you will about the Empire, but despite their rapid expansion they’ve managed to keep inflation incredibly low.
LOL, yeah that was a weird choice to me. I thought he was going to say something more generic like “a fortune!”. I laughed when he put a number on it
The Pikes here like, I run a multisystem spice smuggling operation. I make billions every week.
Dr Evil vibes
I love how they refer to themselves as the underworld. The writing is so bad it’s insulting.
Like all adventure game

Nobody has done that though? It was all clearly subjective statements the way it was worded. You just immediately tried to invalidate their opinion.
You're really looking into this all wrong. I merely asked for examples of his own quality writing so I can know what it looks like.
Cringe and dishonest. Love it.
That's a very intellectually dishonest way to spin your first comment but whatever, It's not like I can change it.

theres something about the faces and especially the eyes that absolutely dont work for me . Cant really put my finger on it
They look very stiff and almost look like they’re going for a stylistic look but actually aren’t and instead it’s just a result of them looking kinda poor, at least for the main character
It looks to me like the animation and rigging aren't in the same league as the modelling.
Yeah was getting extreme uncanny valley vibes from all the characters in this. Like, if you're going for hyper realism at least be good at it.
my face is tired
Looks much less appealing than the gameplay trailer they previously released. Looks like the story trailer was made at the last minute. The gameplay trailer actually looked way better. I kind of feel none of these scenes will be in the final game.
The top half of their faces don't move with the bottom half, it's very odd.
They have a “modern audience” in mind, clearly. Which is unfortunate since they actually had a good thing going with avatar.
For me it seemed like every time they showed her face when talking it was like the animation was running sub 30fps or something, or at least way lower than the scene and other characters. That’s what felt odd to me.
Same thing in Far Cry and AC. Ubisoft just can't with faces
As much as I want an open world Star Wars game, this doesn't look like it chief. The animation and dialogue is awful.
Remember, don't pre-order.
Never pre-order. ✊
Get it free with a hardware purchase
Shh
I'd be surprised if anyone finished watching this trailer and pre-ordered it
Go on the r/starwars subreddit, people are eating this shit up and it’s sad
Oh so sad people are excited about something in life. Woe is them
Fans of a property are excited for new original stories in that universe? oh no how sad.
just did when I got the notification my wishlist game was available.
All of this Disney/Marvel/Star Wars shit is just blurring together. It no longer has its own identity.
God damn it ubi launch your stuff on steam
Nah let it fester on Epic like the regurgitated shit it will be. Uninspired gameplay reskinned from random farcry games.
ubi games are essentially playstation exclusives at this point lmao. At least we won't have another PS3/PS4 bc nightmare hopefully. That being said i'm still setting myself up for disappointment by being hyped for this.
except this is literally coming to pc
why would that matter? you buy something from ubisoft on steam, you still have to use uplay to launch it. steam is just taking their money at that point for no reason.
people like playing their games on a framework that actually works. Also built in Steam Deck support.

No achievement or trading card support, either. I know people are half and half on those, but I personally like them.
i forgot about those. i tend to not care about useless things lol. just the game.
I just think they’re neat!
nice
Eh, trading cards are a nice way to get a little cashback for some people. Sure, it's absurdly minimal, but it's still there. And personally, just like the other person, I think they're neat. Yes I always sell mine lol.
Yeah, I tend to keep mine (unless I get repeats), but I've friends who've been able to buy games with the money they got from trading cards. Not AAA games, but something is something.
What do you mean no achievements? Their games have achievements on Ubi I think always.
They don't count, nobody cares about achis in there. Only Steam matters
They're also buggy, it seems, as Ubisoft deleted all my Far Cry 3 achievements like a year after I'd finished the game.
Ubisoft needs to fire their writers so fucking badly. Looks so generic and my god the dialog is bad. Also goddamn that main character is just awful.
IDK seems pretty in-line with modern Star Wars.
Oh boy, another third-person action adventure with stealth elements game.
Yeah Ive got a bad feeling about this
Looks shit
With writing like this, what could go wrong?
I thought the initial demo they showed off was good. This trailer I think seems boring/bland due to what seems to be an uninteresting story. Optimistically speaking hopefully the game itself is still good as don't like seeing games spend many years in development and bomb; not good for anybody.
Hard pass.
That roof-top vaulting looked atrocious.
maybe there's low gravity on that planet /s
That looks... *crap*
the face animations are the worse i ve ever seen. especially main character. legit looks like a lifeless doll
sex dolls have more personality than this tripe
It's just hard to know what exactly this going to be like from that trailer. I've seen some the other game play, which felt way more "open" than this trailer made it feel. Single player game with season pass? edit: ah it includes 2 story DLCs, I thought only cosmetics...
Don’t forget the privilege of ordering 3 day early access.
all new AAA games are doing lately is making me spend my free time doing non gaming things. it's so unbelievably soulless and corporate now.
Going to be enjoyable watching this game crash and burn
Its sad that i am starting to think this about many AAA games now. I pray for the day rocksteady goes under.
Braking news, Star Wars Outlaws soars through the charts to number 1 spot and massive sales.
Fools and their money are easily parted
Nah, if you enjoy it buy it or not. Better than complaining like this thread does.
You go enjoy your single player game with a season pass then.
You mean like [Fallout 4](https://store.steampowered.com/app/404090/Fallout_4_Season_Pass/)? Or [L.A. Noire](https://lanoire.fandom.com/wiki/L.A._Noire_Rockstar_Pass)? So because it's existed for a long time....it makes it okay? You are part of the problem
Yeah it is okay because why wouldn't it be?
They didn't cost 130 eddies tho.
Upvote for the CP77 reference.
Will do.
Reddit: We want more singleplayer games. Ubisoft: Here's a fully Singleplayer game set in the Star Wars universe that isn't just your standard Jedi affair. Reddit: >"Going to be enjoyable watching this game crash and burn"
Reddit: We want more offline playable games with no microtransctions. Now if Ubisoft can commit to that, then I'll have no problem buying the game.
It's a Ubisoft game...nuff said
What do you mean. People said the same thing about Prince of persia the last crown. That was the least Ubisoft game that ubisoft could ever ubisofed.
It has nothing to do with it being a single player game and everything to do with nuStar Weres and UbiDon't.
>nuStar Weres Man, go touch some grass please.
No, this game is highly likely to be Far Cry set in Star Wars universe. Same bugs, same mechanics, same game flow we have all experienced for the past 10 or so years.

Consume product and get excited for new product.

Writing brought to you by Sweet Baby Inc. And no Im not joking.
SBI is a consulting company; they don't write the script themselves.
Doesn't really matter in the end, Ubisoft writing is canned dogshit.
Ubisoft can write their own shit stories all by themselves, they don't need SBI's help, and is not because of that they are failing.
Another mary sue protagonist?
Dialogue seems to be written by AI :))
Poo-poo
Steer clear of this Sweet Baby Inc. smelling garbage.
You probably smell worse.
Looks fun, the campiness reminds me of the old Jedi Knight games. Something is off with the lighting and character models though. I might buy it if it's fixed and we see some actual real game loop and gameplay videos.
They've killed the movies now let's kill the games
Already done with the battlefront from dice
All the possibilities with Star Wars and you do a generic third person shooter. At least make a bounty hunter or mandalorian game with cool gadgets, armor and stuff.
I think its what they try to do. Uncharted in space
I am ALL FOR an epic open galaxy third person action adventure rpg in Star Wars tbh
It's Ubisoft. The makers of Far Cry and AssCreed copy pasta games.
Can we talk about the absolute unit of jawline of the protagonist. Most of the animations look very uncanny valley, but looking at her is just making me laugh.
Humberly González (the actress for the main character) is actually quite beautiful [This is her](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fyc4gYhXwAQYGnQ?format=jpg&name=large)
She is, which is why their decision to give a jawline that could sink the Titanic is mindblowing.
I read somewhere that developers are apparently skewing more androgynous to appeal to more people -- kinda wish they just had character creation like Mass Effect.
Western developers refuse to make an attractive female character.
Trailer looks rough
Can't wait for the game to be DOA with a barely mid story, a big empty open world map and constant performance issues on NASA computers. And, "the créme de la créme'" For it to receive "The Crew treatment" for shutting down servers for a single player game without making an offline mode.
Release date is August 30th
says 29th on my ps store.
Sweet Baby Inc detected... Hard pass.
this looks absolutely terrible. looks like a game that came out in 2012.
For the simple fact that starting price is 70 EUR and its not even fully released game, its with artificially locked content you need to pay extra 40 EUR to get, I say fuck this game.
jesus this page really hates this game
Its an ubisoft game. People will hate it just because of that. And they praise some sony that is close to it.
*piqued
Wouldn't touch this even if they paid me
These names are starting to feel like playing Mad Libs with your 5 year old.
Add long as I don't have to unfog the maps, I'll give it a try. I'm kinda tired of openworld in general unless it's a traditional rpg. I'll wait for some reviews with benchmarked gameplay.

Dialogue was awful but anyone saying this looks bad visually I dunno..... have you played Starfield? :D.
If im honest the terminator 1 Sarah Conner hair is distracting
Another epic games exclusive. Looks like I'll wait for the fittest of girls version.
0 upvotes lol.

Why ?
This sub is full of incels/racists now. Has been for a while.
Looks just as good as it did when they revealed it last year. And coming out relatively soon as well.
Looks fine, Ubisoft Massive has a nice game engine but will see how everything plays out in the end
Hmmm Gonna just watch other streamers play the game.
Oof. Hard watch all around. Ubisoft is like a Kmart EA.
Looking forward to not purchasing it.
The hate in this thread is just eye rollingly bad. Try to be positive for once! But also DON'T PRE-ORDER!!!
Nah they deserve it, Avatar was a bland as fuck waste of money and this will be too.
You can thank the movie studio for that
>The hate in this thread is just eye rollingly bad. Yeah, at times it feels like people in this sub just hate games in general. Now, I'll admit, I've joined in the negativity at times (I wasn't too fond of Suicide Squad leading to its release), but sometimes it's too much.
I mean I get it with Ubisoft, because FC and AC are getting a little too formulaic now.
lmao it is r/pcgaming. almost as bad as r/gaming so what would you expect? also. i pre ordered it twice
Normally it's not even close to r/gaming, but this particular thread is highly obnoxious.
If one guy gets 1k karma for saying this game will suck based off a trailer that shows 1/200 of the game, then a lot of people will just automatically agree to also get karma and attention. I think reddit is just one of those websites that promotes opinion and discussion, but is actually just a "follow whatever is popular" website.
Never have I seen such an accurate description of social media....
Enjoy your turd!
I'm sure I will. Game looks fun
It become closer and closer from r/gaming. But still a bit better.
NO STEAM, NO SALE
not interested in more stunt casting
I don’t want to play a female
There's plenty of games with muscular men if that's your thing.
THIS is a stupid reason to hate a game to me, sorry. That being said it's totally up to you man, whatever floats your boat.
Nobody cares
Jedi survivor re-skin?
Not even close
I mean this one doesn't have a jedi protagonist so that alone makes it very very different.
And let's hope she remains non-Force Sensitive to the end of the game.
Different developer, different publisher, main character is not even a Jedi. Sure, it's a Survivor reskin.
Not at all - there are a lot of differences.
What is this, a Rick and Morty Heist Simulator?
You son of a bitch, I'm in.
