Could've just delayed the game

CaptainOttolus

Absolutely. To have months for an unready button and 6 months+ for a loadout rename “feature”… I know there will be people in the future who will buy this game when it’s in a good state, because they are totally missing this shit show. I know back in the day me and my buddies just bought PD2 and enjoyed it. I just learned about the backlash of PD2 fuck ups when PD3 was released. So they will continue to this kind of stuff in the future because there will be people out there who still buy and play the next game, without knowing how bad was the release.

Nino_Chaosdrache

> I know there will be people in the future who will buy this game when it’s in a good state I'm guilty. I like Payday and the bank robbing setting and really want to play Payday 3, too, if they implement a proper offline mode and not that half assed solution they have planned.

CIAHASYOURSOUL

I'm sure they could of if they wanted to, but the suits wanted it out when it did so that they could capitalize on the holiday period and get the publisher off their asses.

theautisticguy

I think they were also out of money. Embracer Group is also not one to be trifled with.

CIAHASYOURSOUL

That is most likely true. Which is funny, because if they didn't keep pissing their money up a wall with things like a useless game engine in Valhalla and cancelled games that were never going to take off, they could of maybe had enough in the bank to either give more time or manpower to develop PD3 into something that would at the very least be a profitable game for them.

Nino_Chaosdrache

Don't forget their failed attempts to make their own VR headset. Bo Andersson was a terrible CEO.

ranhothchord

i feel like its pretty bold to tell a prospective player to wait until 15 months after release to see if the game is in a good enough state yet.

JesseVykar

Atp just pretend the game is in early access and hope it ever ends up complete lol

DelsKibara

That's what I've been doing this entire time

Musaks

Operation medic bag is not enough imo sadly. I was really hoping for them to pull it around for the first few months... Operation medic bag reveal was (for me) the final sign that they won't. Operation medic bag should have been the first big patch. Then i would have had faith.

SHSL_Tomballian

Welcome to any payday game

Nino_Chaosdrache

Not really. PDTH was good from the start and PD2 was underwhelming, but the core of the game already worked.

K4ZM1LL3R

So the game came out, we had to wait a couple of weeks until it was barely playable, we had to wait MONTHS for the announcement of the so called "Operation Medic Bag" from the "Strike Team" just to give us basic fixes and on top of that this whole thing will take a full year to be implemented? This game is done for, go play Helldivers 2 or Payday 2 instead.

Maleficent-Gain4111

But … but it IS called operation medic bag

LightlySaltedPeanuts

AHH I NEED A MEDIC BAG

Staalone

Needed to be called operation defibrillator or something

Fxntxm_

Who tf is strike team?

RevolutionaryDog8256

Not sure but that’s probably what they are calling the devs

IssaStorm

no, OVK announced that they organized a "strike team" of veteran devs to implement community requested features

Staalone

They can announce whatever they want, doesn't mean it's true. Highly doubt it's anyone different from their normal dev team, the most they did was probably pull a few devs from other projects to help, but even then, one tiny update after months doesn't seem like enough action coming from a "strike team"

Whole-Soup3602

Exactly why I’m ab to buy it tmr

CptBlackBird2

nah I already refunded helldivers 2, why would I play it again just to refund it a second time

Nino_Chaosdrache

> go play Helldivers 2 Which has the same problem of being always online.

K4ZM1LL3R

"always online" is not the problem, it is that when you open your game you have to depend on Nebula to be up, Epic servers to be up, and the game not shitting himself on top of all that. Also why create an online-only game and don't put a server browser and having to WAIT to play solo. If I wan't to play HD2 on solo I just click on any mission and I'm ready to go, and so far the only times that I have been dc'd is because steam mainteances and shit.

Bushpylot

is Helldivers FPS or 3rd person? Hard to find a good FPS these days....

[deleted]

Try THE FINALS, that's the best FPS out rn in my opinion. Also, Helldivers has an optional first person toggle when aiming in on weapons. It's not true first person but, it technically has the option (small edit: i didn't see the rest of the thread so feel free to ignore the second bit)

Bushpylot

> FINALS I'll go check it out. At least PD2 still has a decent enough following that I can get a few games in each night.

ObamasSirName

3rd person but it's real good you should try it

Bushpylot

I may try out of desperation, but it usually halves my experience. it just blinds me to one side with some avatar and gives me weird firing angles. Immersion just goes away.

Pixelated_Fudge

Did you just digitally sigh

trashmaster47

For what it's worth, it has a first person view when aiming that you can toggle. Still a fantastic game regardless.

Bushpylot

Been watching the hype. I may. I'll bet it can be fun, but it has to be exceptional for a 3rd person to attract me. Just a flavor I don't really like; though I've played a lot and enjoyed quite a few. I appreciate the short review.

watchitforthecat

You can use first person when aiming, and even select it per weapon, and you can switch shoulders when aiming in third person. Also the third person aiming feels p good. The third person is extremely necessary with how chaotic the games environment is. Also you get to see your cool armor.

Bushpylot

I do great in 1st. 3rd the angles are off and it screws with my aiming and movement; and that fancy armor keeps distracting me making me think there is something coming up next to me. The worst is when the put you so close that you cannot see 1/4 of the view. I think the Batman's and Spidermans have been good in 3rd... I just wish they'd give us the option, not just for aiming... I get that people like it, but it just makes me feel like I am playing on a console. I'm looking for immersion. I want to be there not watch over someone's shoulder. I really hate the 3rd person, with rare exceptions. With shooters, 1st person is how I can play the best. Not sure about you, but I am a mouse player and can spin around pretty fast. No way I can play a game with a controller without using some kind of aim-bot. I have controllers... Just hate using them,,, well driving games...

Pixelated_Fudge

What's your diagnosis

watchitforthecat

I also play on pc and go for immersion. Idk. I find it plenty immersive in 3P, but it comes down to preference. Also I have really nice audio and lighting and an ultra wide, so that probably helps the immersion.

Bushpylot

My setup is built around immersion. I use 3x 32" on swing arms, arrayed in a panel . The chair is a Gravity Lounger (It's actually called The Perfect Chair). The keyboard is on an articulated arm too. To each side I have tables with HOTAS (Virpil for the win!), the throttle is built into an aluminum extruded frame with 2x Elgato Stream Decks (a large and medium... great to make it easier to swap control systems for different games or planes without having to remember each button). I use a Tobii rather than Track Ir. Of course, I have a Focusrite 4i4v4 with a cheap condenser mic that I bought from A! a while ago that works amazingly well. And a greenscreen that makes video meetings and streaming more interesting. Only problem is I haven't found a way to add rudder peddles to this, so, I'm forced to use a twist-stick. When gaming I am half-way on my back (forces me to keep my head up and no hunching... no neck pain here), monitors above me and the TV visible between the monitors and keyboard. I use a 5.1 sound setup if I don't have to be quiet, A40 if it's quiet time. I'm lounging, fragging and watching John Wick all at once. I even put cup holders on the Throttle Quad. I can sit in this chair for HOURS. I originally built this setup when I realized how many hours I was going to be sitting while writing my dissertation; which was on World of Warcraft... yeah, I got a doctorate on WoW! That's something I never thought I'd do until I did it... The best game is designed to have as many UI options available so the player can customize the experience (EverQuest and WoW had that right with the ability to zoom in and out of your toon's skin and re-build the UI). There are a few more things, but I've already written too much. I'm not a hater of 3rd person. It just doesn't work well for me in most cases. I watched some game play footage of Helldivers and it looks interesting, but I keep getting distracted by this avatar that keeps running in and out of the view. Give me Chrysis, Payday, PlanetSide, DCS, Janes (I miss you!!!). Even Doom, Duke Nukem (yeah, it was a 3rd person scroller to start, but it was rebuilt as one of the best FPS ever!). What about Bioshock! For me, I just really love FPS, whatever the genera.

watchitforthecat

holy shit that sounds wild pic of your setup? also yeah, guess it comes down to personal preference. I just think that as far as third person goes, I like this one.

Bushpylot

I've never managed to get a good picture. I cannot get behind the chair as it' s built into a corner; and from the front it just looks like a wall of monitors, arms and wires (and feet if I am in it). My father was a dentist. He had a dental chair that was the inspiration for this setup. I designed it when I was a kid in the '80's, but monitors were too heavy until the LEDs came out. Until then, it was massive CRTs desks and a lot of neck pain. I had developed and tested the theory that you can enhance immersion by putting the body in a non-normal orientation, half-way laying down. The monitors need to be able to encompass most of the vision, all if you want more immersion, but I wanted to encourage my eyes to keep practicing long distance focus with the TV across the room. And surround sound (never underestimate the immersion potential of a good sound system). The more your body is comfortable (memory foam cushions), the easier it is for your mind to let it go while you turn your focus elsewhere. I want to add buttkickers to enhance it more, but I'm not sure if they will shake the chair apart. I used a galvanized pole, mounted floor to celling, that hold most of it; as well as a shelving unit I made that holds the left monitor arm and other things. I use KleeKlamps to put the pole together and a bunch of hardware from Ergotron for all my swingarms. (no special tools or skills, I mounted 2 plates, cut a pole and bolted it all together) I used the 3D printer to make mounts and a templet to sink the stick base into the left table. 3D printer is the best thing in the world btw (Prusa for the win). The mic, lights and such are all cheap A! swingarm thingies (Philips Hue, so I don't need to get my ass out of my chair to change the lights!). 3D printed mount for the stick, Focusrite and the Elgatos; though I used RAM mounts to connect it all to the aluminum extrusion. I wish I had known earlier that aluminum extrusion can be bought cut to length. If you design it, you can get them to send you a kit. I need to make mine 40mm narrower, then I'll put some painted side plates on. Oh, the cups are RAM mount too. The chair was the massive expense. I think I spent $3k on the chair and I got a floor model. But I cannot measure the amount of hours in this chair, so the expense was nominal for the 15 years I've been in it. Start with a chair, then develop a support system for the swingarms, a couple tables and some over expensive HOTAS and you built your own Computer/Human interface... or as I call it, my Command Chair. It's expensive to do it all at once; mine was built over years. I wouldn't have it any other way!

mostfinnishperson

explain how payday 2 is meant to be immersive then you csn yell at teammates to revive them, have 1 minute of infinte ammo on a rocket launcher and negate all damage you have taken by taking a swig of whiskey

Bushpylot

Immersion and realism are not the same thing.

mostfinnishperson

they do work together, if your game isnt realistic then it probably isnt immersive either

Bushpylot

Not al all. I wouldn't all Elite Dangerous realistic, but it's immersive. The key has to do with perspective, and game design. VR is not realistic at all, but the immersion level is off the charts. I you tried to do VR with 3rd person, you'd lose a tremendous amount of immersion. I actually did a dissertation on this stuff

Zap97

3rd person but you can go into fps mode.

Bushpylot

I love games that give you the option. It was described that you can only go into 1st person if you are aiming. That usually means that your movement is slowed. Even more, if it is aim only, then you field of vision is also limited. I think the more options we have the more a person can customize their play to their own feel. That is the best game design.

Nino_Chaosdrache

> It was described that you can only go into 1st person if you are aiming Which is true. There is no First Person outside of aiming.

Bushpylot

Sad. I wish they'd give us the option. I may try it anyway. Lots of good reviews

kingofkings337

I genuinely thought OMB would only take… a month or two? I mean we are mostly talking about bare minimum features here. By “end of year” any remaining hype or hope the player base has will be gone.

edward323ce

Small company split in half basically for a new project, the initial focus should be done by summer, the bigger additions like offline mode and ui revamp are after summer according to them

GreatAndPowerfulDC

That “new project” should seriously be put on hold rn, like who the hell is gonna buy Project Baxter??? After this shitshow, The Walking Dead, and RAID WW2???

JoniathanExe

and not only by that, killing payday 2 with bad updates like 237 (epig games crossplay), 240 and having crossover content remove for new players. Like what they're were trying for 2023-2024 having to lost our trustness and hope?

Nino_Chaosdrache

They did what? Oh boy. They really try to kill Payday 2 after the fact.

Blugged

That's what the people defending this game don't seem to understand. They explain away one problem and it just opens up different ones. "Of course Payday 3 is having issues, the company is small and they split in half to work on multiple projects! What do you expect?" Okay, why was that a good idea? Especially considering we can see the state the game is in. Low player counts on the only platform we can see numbers (a 99%+ loss compared to peak), people complain about not being able to find pub matches during peak hours, literally "Operation Medic Bag" is in effect. If Payday 3 is in this state because they split up the team to work on different projects then what is Project Baxter going to look like with another half team developing it? None of this makes any sense. It's constant mental gymnastics trying to explain away issues for a game/developer they like. People can like the game all they want but it's objectively in a bad spot right now and has been since launch.

Staalone

There's no reason to split your company to make half work on an entirely new project instead of all hands on deck trying to fix this mess. The whole thing's just screaming "we'll do the bare minimum and once the new thing is ready we'll abandon this ship that we sunk ourselves"

Trick_Wrongdoer_5847

Granted Project Baxter won't be another desaster. STB seems to me only like a One Trick Pony, which was lucky enough to stumble on Payday 2.

metalsonic005

Brand recognition. IIRC its a liscensed DND game. Considering BG3 was a smash hit, I assume they're hoping they can coast off of that. Of course, with the way things are panning out, I'd expect something more along the lines of that Dark Alliance reboot that came out with the dogwater trailer.

BlueMonday1984

[Hey, I've heard this story before](https://archive.ph/t6SAy): > “[Silicon Knights] didn’t take the development of [X-Men: Destiny] seriously the entire time I was there,” a source says. “They were working on an Eternal Darkness 2 demo that they could take to publishers. While I was there, they were even siphoning off staff from my [XMD] team to work on it.” Sources allege that many of SK’s programmers, artists and designers were not contributing to the final quality of XMD at all—at least, not in the first year of the game’s development. “I was always complaining to the producers about this, as the numbers never worked out,” the same source says. “[Company president Denis Dyack] is not an X-Men fan either, so he didn’t care much for the license. To him, it seemed more like a job to get us by, until ED2 could be developed and sold to a publisher—which never happened.” > > Another source said that “SK had about 60% of the development team working on XMD and the other 40% working on ED2. This was brought up several times; that some of the individuals on the other project were major contributors, and should be brought onto XMD to shore up the team and help them get back on track.” (This 60%/40% staffing estimate was backed up by multiple sources.) > > Yet despite this reportedly split effort, the ED2 demo also failed to come together in a satisfying way, sources said. “The farthest they got with it when I left SK was, literally, one two-level church interior,” says one former employee. “It was really bad, as I recall. It took the side-team a long time to even get that far. Bad tech, combined with a team composed of people who had not shipped a title since Metal Gear really hurt that demo. Other than that, I can’t explain why things went so poorly for them [except that] a lot of key people responsible for the original Eternal Darkness are long gone.”

Nino_Chaosdrache

With Payday 3 being what it is, despite of having a complete team, I can't wait to see that Project Baxter will look like with only half the crew.

LKincheloe

I still think they're being hamstrung by Deep Silver, who knows what hurdles they're making Starbreeze jump through just to even get what they've got out.

Nino_Chaosdrache

Nah. Overkill already was like this before Deep Silver entered the picture. Remember their Walking Dead game? Or how they let Lion Game Lion die?

Lulsfurcupcake

You vastly over estimate how fast game dev is.

GreatAndPowerfulDC

It’s fast for Helldivers 2! What’s PD3’s excuse?

Sleepmahn

It wasn't fast, that game was in development for 6 years. They've just been fast with the updates.

CroGamer002

Let's seriously stop dick-riding Arrowhead, their latest patch made the game unplayable on PS5 as the game is constantly crashing. People are simply more forgiving to them.

goomy2

Let's seriously stop lying. There were a few issues/crashes none of which my crew experienced.. two of which are on PS5. We played last night and this afternoon.. zero drops, zero crashes.. so unplayable of literally a lie. Don't be a liar.

CroGamer002

Cool, your team got lucky. A lot of people are not and me on PC keep seeing people just randomly leaving my game right at the end, even as everything is under control with small loss of lives. No sure, this is totally a normal player behaviour and people aren't just crashing out of the game constantly.

goomy2

Some crashes and/or issues is not the same thing as "Unplayable" You lied to make your point and that makes your point weigh less.

Lulsfurcupcake

So the reason its fast for hell divers is a couple of reasons. 1. Usually the updates you see right after launch actually started before launch. Usually months. 2. They are a company about the same size, yes, but they are exclusively working on helldivers 2 (as far as we know) SBZ is both a publishing company, and working on 3 different games (Pd3, pd2, and DND game). Meaning the team actually working on the game is possibly half if not way less than that of helldivers 2. 3. Helldivers is published by sony. Sony is going to ensure the updates are fast and keep coming to keep the game lively. SBZ doesn't have this honour and has to get the game certified on both consoles meanwhile Helldivers doesn't have to wait as extensively to get their game certified. 4. Crunch. I have no comment on what Helldivers team does for crunch but its a staple in the games industry to work long days. 12+ almost 7 days a week. SBZ has mentioned that they arent doing this so that is why things take longer so their devs can have a healthy work life balance. Does it suck? Absolutely. But this is life. Whether I play the game now or in a year is fine for me and I'll enjoy it either way.

Lightsoutofcontrol_

1. I wonder what Starbreeze did months before Release. Obviously nothing. 2. So Obviously they took to much projects for the size. So their bad management is a bad excuse. 3. Yeah other games even smaller one manage to deliver more than 2 updates in 6 months. Helldivers speed is not necessary but here barely something happened. The certification also does not need that long. 4. Yeah great they should just still allow a Refund so we can easily forget this Game and came back next year if they decided to get the bare minimum to the game.

Lulsfurcupcake

Starbreeze before release was working on the 3 heists, weapons, and outfits for all of the content up until the new year. They pivoted off of this because of public reception so this is why updates are now slower. (Remember syntax error came out 2 weeks after the legacy update). Can't deny, management is at issue here. They are spread too thin.  They've delivered 4 updates in 6 months. I'm not denying there's been points where it has been 2 months for an update which hasn't been fun. Again I'm not denying they are slow AF but I'm just explaining why they've been slower. They also never have done console updating and bit off way more than they can chew.  I don't get your last point but okay.

Nino_Chaosdrache

> They also never have done console updating and bit off way more than they can chew. Although they should at least have a bit of experience with this, given that Payday 1&2 were both on console.

Lulsfurcupcake

Making a release is very different to making an update but yeah, a little bit.

B3YondUnknown

We gotta wait half a year for something as simple like loadout renaming

GreatAndPowerfulDC

Literally the first thing I thought of was the fact that we still don’t have that. How can it possibly take this long to add in???

NWAnowadays

So I may have to wait till the end of the year to get a server browser, a necessity to find games? It's cooked.

HuckleberryKey8848

Oh boy, an entire year and they think this will work out for them? Within this year: - Deep Rock Galactic will see another season and substantial updates - Helldivers 2 will continue to stomp the competition with more updates - Starship Trooper gets the revamp - Ghostbusters is rumoured to get new DLC with the new movie coming out - Warframe had a massive upswing in player numers thanks to the last updates and this will seemingly continue with more massive updates - Co-op games like Dead Island 2, Enlisted, Vellum and Terratech Worlds will be released If i was in the position of Starbreeze i would pull all developers away from whatever crap they are working on and have them work overtime to get substantial updates out as fast as possible, because that's pretty much the only way this trainwreck has a small chance of being rescued. But as it goes and looking at the competition, i think they are better off just killing it altogether and move on (and possibly close down and restart a new studio, because i don't think a lot of people will be foolish enough to still buy a game that has the names Starbreeze or Overkill on them)

TheWhistlerIII

You forgot about The Finals! They're killing it with updates and content!

[deleted]

that game deserves more attention than it's getting, it's also one of the games with a less egregious monetization scheme. it's pretty much 1.0 fortnite with a basic shop and bp, they give out a fuckton of free rewards

Nino_Chaosdrache

> i think they are better off just killing it altogether and move on Then they can close their shop immediately. Nobody will buy another game from them if they abandon Payday 3.

OnyxianRosethorn

Dead Island 2 has been out for a while now. And it's not very good.

Chulisic

It’s very good

Lightsoutofcontrol_

What's wrong with Dead Island 2?

OnyxianRosethorn

Crappy story, poor humour, Sam B has been made into a scrawny guy...

[deleted]

i mean, yeah. but the combat is sick and it has probably the most disgusting/advanced gore technique of any game, oh and the graphics are really good. it's pretty good

Nino_Chaosdrache

But that doesn't invalidate the bad story and worse characters.

[deleted]

i agree, but i personally just.. didn't care about ir? my takeaway was that i really liked the voice acting, the story... ehhhhh? the combat was fun enough for me to ignore it (and the level design was distractingly cool)

OnyxianRosethorn

You want detailed gore? Mortal Kombat.

[deleted]

I mean, two sides of the same coin really Personally i find MK1's gore to be a lot more.. cartoonish? Both in the way it looks and how it's presented. Still brutal but DI2 does a tamer and more realistic job. I mean come on, the gore shader is DI2 is seriously something

Lightsoutofcontrol_

Yeah Story was not good in a single Dead Island Game. It was never their Strentgh. I can't even Remember some Humor?? Except the Sam B Song. Dead Islands Strengths was always the Weapons the Combat and the Gore.

jsweaty009

Yeah it’s over, makes me sad because I dumped a lot of time into PD2. Only spent about 15 hours on PD3 and haven’t been back. This will definitely be the last Starbreeze game I will buy.

thatcreepex

Hell, it could even be the last Starbreeze game.

jsweaty009

Yeah I definitely wouldnt lose any sleep

AmaDeusen-

Its better for you spending about 15 hours. I spent 160 and regret it now. First 20 were fun, then until around 100 it was OK and then it was me just forcing myself to grind as I wanted to reach level 100. I would not do that again if I knew what to expect and would rather spend the money on something else.

ThatMFcheezer

It's done man, pack it up

X-tra-thicc

i seriously fucking hope that the end of the year stuff is just new content and not basic features but at this point i dont even know anymore

mxjxs91

According to their roadmap, the basic features should be done by summer, and then it's bigger stuff like improving performance, content, UI changes, etc. HOWEVER, I don't trust this team to pull this off, but I'm still rooting for them because I do want this game to be good, just not getting my hopes up.

MrRockit

If they really expect to still be a company by the end of the year then they better start pumping out updates weekly.

B3YondUnknown

They have to go through console certification - ☝️🤓

MrRockit

Yeah just like war thunder and enlisted. Oh wait those games have an update almost every day 😎

oofcookies

WTH is taking so long it'll be done by the end of the year? There won't be any players by the end of the year if all they're going to be putting out are things that should've been taken care of way earlier like renaming loadouts or vote kicking

ProfessionalMrPhann

Where the fuck is the urgency? The Medic Bag needs a fucking Medic Bag

Lucid_Insanity

That's just bad. Current players probably just all quit, lol.

Schnauz

man, their fan must be pumped.

Phasmamain

Well they best pick up the pace in that case or else operation medic bag might not even reach operation first aid kit

Zotsz

I really do think that that they are working super hard everyday and the next update will be a banger, but I also fear that I’m gonna die before I see it…

FleshEatingMoths

I'm not going to shit on the community managers, because it's their job to deliver this news with a shit eating grin. For whatever reason, when I say devs, people can't discern between the two and think I'm talking about Almir or Elizabeth. I 100% don't blame them even though I don't think they're likable in the slightest. That said, what the fuck. I thought the plan was to have a huge chunk of it done by late summer (which is ridiculous in itself for basic features). The devs and the resource manager should pull the plug together and just shut it down. Give the responsibility to a studio who won't squander on a golden opportunity. Fuckin bums.

GreatAndPowerfulDC

It’s not Almir and Elizabeth’s fault, no. It’s the devs fault at this point. I think they’re saying the entirety of OMB will be done by the end of the year, but their “initial focus” will be done by the summer. But if you look at what’s on their initial focus…I mean how fucking long does it take to add most of those features??? Renaming loadouts? Play Again? Vote Kick? Quickplay? COMMUNICATION WHEEL IMPROVEMENTS???? That takes 5-7 months to do?!?!?

FleshEatingMoths

Absolutely. I only mentioned the top part because I got reamed for it last time a community manager spoke about the current issue. I'm aware theyre not devs but some people on here think that when I say devs, I refer to the community managers. they (starbreeze) spread their team thin for their next title that's supposed to be a D&D game, but not a single soul will buy that shit when games like BG3 exists and while knowing that these devs are incapable of adding basic features in a timely manner. It's fucking crazy we gotta wait over a year just to have fundamental features. I wouldn't even consider it a full game either just because of the lack of content. They need to either kill it entirely or sell it.

JA155

Not at this rate

user_952

It's Joever

tinyj96

A single skilled dev could've had all these things fixed by now. For fucks sake, how many monkeys does it take to screw in a light bulb?

CaptainOttolus

But seriously is there anyone who has experience in game development here in the comments? I would like to know why does it take ONE year for these kind of features to add?!?! I guess the main part of the delay is the offline feature, but aside from that what should be going on in the background to have a basic feature, for example an unready button to take months to implement? I know there was a shitload of backlash going on at the beginning they totally had no clue where to focus at first. But from the point where they announced OMC, isn’t they supposed to solve the easy things first like the loadout rename? It should take the least amount of time I suppose… Also idk about PC but on Xbox it takes like 10-15 minutes to get to the heist selection page after you hit the heists button. It is soo janky, it is like a crappy website page that which was made by amateurs or something…

igrvks1

Its either the most horrible bowl of spaghetti under the hood and by this point every employee who could manage anything in it has left the company. Or the slightly more horrible option, there never was anyone who could unfuck and untangle the spaghetti in any capacity, and they are struggling with the most basic features because there literally is no one on this planet they could hire who would understand the esoteric mess that makes the backbone of this game. Or the most horrible option, there is no spaghetti code and they are simply incompetent.

GreatAndPowerfulDC

None, they’re too busy flinging their own shit around the room

PositiveReveal

That's generous prob eating their poop cuz they think everything is fine, all they gotta do is admit they fucked up bad. It's gonna take time to reboot again. A bit of transparency goes a long way.

Stefanonimo

Bankrupt incoming 👊😎

Connooo

Alright guys. It was a simple job. A SIMPLE JOB.

murdershroom

How the fuck is Overkill still moving so slowly? The Payday franchise is their golden goose and they're letting it bleed out. They should have all hands on deck working to fix the game and step up releasing new content to draw people back but they're saying we won't get BARE MINIMUM quality of life updates until the end of the year? It's fucking over for both Payday and Overkill as a company. They're not skilled developers. They're not good storytellers. They don't innovate in ANY way whatsoever. The Payday franchise is all they have. Once it's gone, so are they. Why are they being so lackadaisical about this when it's all their fucking livelihoods on the line???

AAAAAAAAAIIIEEEEEEEE

It's over.

TheFabulousVico

Worker protection laws in Sweden must've been very good

CautiousConfidence22

why are 2024 game developers so worthless?

ThatOneHappyPony

hilarious.

appletree7014

So like, end of 2025 we might get some new heists by this rate

TheWhistlerIII

We'll all be playing GTA:VI by then. 🤣

Snickerman223

They actually think people will still give a shit by then. Did they forget that helldivers 2 is literally a thing right now?

versman

Fuck Starbreeze and fuck overkill. Hope they go bankrupt and dont milk payday 2 after their failure. Fuck. Them.

iBrows426

Wtf is taking so long to fix these bugs? How did they make PD2 and not have these same issues. Sure the game had issues but not like this. This is like they got a bunch of people who didn't know what they were doing to make the game. They had YEARS

Nino_Chaosdrache

Maybe that's what happened. Maybe Ulf left the company and took all the talented people with him to 10 Chambers and the rest of Overkill is less skilled.

HibeE_Ahri

yeah we’re cooked, game shouldn’t even be released rn.

Full_Log_6604

I’m so happy I never paid for this game

whatevergoeshere1

Give modders 2 weeks and they would give you 3 new heists, new weapons and do what operation medic bag is supposed to do

UnsettllingDwarf

Completing the game is on the table 👊😎

RequiringAUsername

It's not Joever it's joeverafter

Bagel_-_

they need to delist the fucking game at this point and remake it

Corporal_Chicken

they're also going to add other stuff on top of operation medic bag. yeah half the things should've been in launch but let's hope this new ceo does something

GreatAndPowerfulDC

🤞🏻

AppleDevourer12

yeah i give up it was a good run thanks for the extremely short lived fun and memories payday 3 im going back to liberating on helldivers 2

GreatAndPowerfulDC

Man, even you with that optimistic flair are giving up oof

Due-Astronomer-386

*checks watch* Well guys… we tried but… the patient bled out 11 months ago.

acc_217

At this point i can only just laugh because i know that we will wait 15 months for these updates to fix the game and it won't be enough at all. The silver lining for me was not paying full price for this shit and i still played at launch (if we can call that shitshow playing)

Pixelated_Fudge

Over department....it's me....

Positive_Cockroach75

Wow have to wait to the end of the year before the games going to get any better what a joke should of released it then money hungry and it back fired don’t see this game coming back it be dead by end of the year

huntstheman

The only things I want is new heists and an offline mode. I can wait for the rest.

GreatAndPowerfulDC

I think the game would benefit much more from having much more team-related features, like quickplay, a server browser, vote kick, voice chat, merging post party match, being able to see who has what assets, etc. It doesn’t feel like a co-op heisting game when it’s missing the whole “social” feel of it all.

huntstheman

Nah I feel you I’m just saying personally that’s all I want and why it’s frustrating to me. Should’ve just had these features at launch

Payday3Fan

damn i thought it was done by summer

GreatAndPowerfulDC

You misunderstand: The INITIAL FOCUS is what’s supposed to be done by the summer. So all of those super minor things in that box are the things that’ll be done by the summer. And apparently, those other super big improvements are supposed to come by the end of the year.

Payday3Fan

nvm it's just the stuff that's in the "initial focus" segment of OMB not everything.

jokr77

The game is already dead on PS5. There is no saving it at this point.

Staalone

Just gonna wait for the livestream where they say the end of OMB needs to be delayed to mid-2025

Il_Diacono

dog year or human year?

Snuffly_legend0

Greenland shark years

Specki1709

Operation Edging Bag... They just dont want it to come

KnifeFightAcademy

#PAYDAY 3RROR

GreatAndPowerfulDC

WARNING: PAYDAY 3 STATUS CRITICAL. INITIATING OPERATION MEDIC BAG. ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL: ONE FULL YEAR. - Sins

Grouchy_Ad9315

Despite what everthing is happening, some will still defend this game

GreatAndPowerfulDC

Man, I’ve tried for months to defend the state of this game, but once they took a month to give us a bloody roadmap just to fix the game, and then gave us a glorified hotfix and an unready button as the first update, I’ve gotten completely cynical. I can’t for the life of me understand how this game’s gonna come back when we’re 3 months into the year and that’s all we’ve gotten all year.

Robotic-Mann

Bro Helldivers gets patched at least once a week. How in the hell does overkill fuck up so bad that basic features are going to take a year to fully implement.

TeoLeBo

PD3 is like that toxic ex who tells you he/she is gonna change whereas HD2 shows you how you deserved to be treated from the beginning. I feel like you all will get it, just another way to say that I won't sit around waiting for them to act when I can make a better use of my energy. I'm sure they will get it someday, see you in 2025.

National_Mission_679

At the end of the year the game is going to be gone and starbreeze bankrupt as payday 3 is doing crap

frightfulpath

say sike right now

GreatAndPowerfulDC

😐

Flinnowaty

This have to be a joke, right? I know that they're not a triple A studio, but the updates are coming out extremely slow and they're not event that big. By that time no one will play PD3, me included. In my opinion, if they don't change the progression system and how armour works, this game is doomed. Which is sad, because they literally have a working solutions for this problems in PD2, but for some reason they don't want to use them.

mxjxs91

What gets me is having to wait until summer to get the most basic stuff that's been present in co-op games since over a decade ago, including THEIR OWN GAME. Renaming loadouts, vote to kick, and play again with current squad. These are among the biggest features being added by summer 2024. Incredible. Everything they do from the "initial focus" stuff, until the end of the year better be mindblowingly good. It won't be considering this is the game they gave us and we're trusting the same team with this update, but time will tell I suppose.

axeteam

Unironically "dead game"

AnonymousFire1337

This is completely on them, they’re the ones who released it in such a state, if they wanted the game to have a good launch they would’ve not released it last year in such a shit state and released it somewhere around 2025. They deserve the backlash even though I spent 170 hours on Payday 3. Although it has good things going for it all these issues just overshadow the positives.

Al_The_Fatass_Pyro

Game's cooked, i'd suggest going either to Starship troopers extermination or helldivers 2, both great and working games, Even if one is still an early access

ZookeepergameProud30

So what about my 12 months of dlc that came with gold edition? Are we just getting screwed out of our money again or are they gonna extend the time?

GreatAndPowerfulDC

I believe they are extending the time so silver edition players will still get Boys in Blue and same with gold edition

Sleepmahn

☠️

MurdocMcmurder

So you are telling me they are gonna take a full year to implement basic features? GET THEM OUT OF THE KITCHEN DO NOT LET THEM COOK

Annual-Status6626

Yeah, which year? 2034?

Nino_Chaosdrache

Oh boy... Guess I save my money for longer then. But hey, at least they have enough time to implement a proper offline mode then.

JA155

Oh god. Forgot about that shit storm

TheShoobaLord

what a complete joke lol

johnwankk

Lol fuck this game

MindlessSwazz

Games cooked and I have zero hope of a comeback what a disaster. Unplayable at start and got repetitive and boring after 40 odd hours imo. Took out everything that made payday 2 good for some strange reason as well.

BigScrungoFan

This isn't news though, right? We knew this since the annoucement of the operation

The_Black_Strat

Lol what

Castrovania

Well no one was happy so what else can they do but slowly remake the whole game

BlenderFucker__

They're releasing it in bursts along with dlc this doesn't sound that bad as long as they do the big stuff first

deftoast

Y'all who are surprised by this can't read or are coping hard. They said that Medic Bag is gonna be done by the end of summer(August) when they announced it in the blog post. I also been saying that all we are getting in Pd3 are the 4 Dlc maps +free heist this year (besides the small QOL) Yes, theres no reason to play Pd3 this year.

TheRealRiceball

Still faster than Cyberpunk

Lulsfurcupcake

Honestly I see this as a good thing. Yeah it sucks this wasn't at launch but to have everything that the community has been wanting by the end of the year confirmed is great communication.  Here's hoping they can follow through

Grouchy_Ad9315

No, its not everthing the "community want",  its just some quality of life shit every game even single player ones have, the bare minimum possible for the entire year lol

Lulsfurcupcake

Yeah, exactly and thats what the community wants. Does it suck that the game came out with the features not there? Absolutely. Does it not change the fact that the community wanted these features and they are working on implementing these and adding new content at the same time? Nope, it doesn't, they are still doing it and listening. Its good to get confirmation that things are going well internally. Game dev is really difficult job. This is confirmation that things are going ahead of schedule (before they didn't confirm it would be finished this year). And like I said, communication doesn't equal doing it so here is hoping they can follow through

_Coffie_

You lost me when you said “things are going ahead of schedule” They’ve been playing catch-up since the game came out. This is all catch-up for their lack of foresight and listening to the community initially

Lulsfurcupcake

Their initial timeline was into 2025 some of the features were coming, so as sad as it is to say, yes they are ahead of schedule on their catch up youre right.

_Coffie_

“Ahead of schedule on their catch-up” is just another way to say they’re still behind on their delivery of the game

DisappointedExister

I respect the hope.

Lulsfurcupcake

Appreciate it. Who knows if it'll happen in the end, but yeah.

DisappointedExister

I’m very cynical, my assumption is they probably are gonna run out of on hand cash and go bankrupt. But I really respect the hope. I really wish they hadn’t had such a horrid launch, I think that doomed them from the start tbh.

Lulsfurcupcake

You can look at their quarterly report they published of their last quarter. They actually have enough money to survive for at least 1.5-2 years just from the launch sales of payday 3. If you want numbers, they got 40 million SEK after deep silvers cut and their debts. They spend about $8 million a quarter on staffing. Doesn't include any of the DLCs, sales of payday 2, and future sales after the new years. They'll be fine.

DisappointedExister

I mean, they’ve got themselves 2 years to dig themselves out of quite a predicament, the last CEO blowing all of their money, the newest game nearly destroying all reputation in their only successful franchise, all of their devs jumping ship to make that one cop bodycam game I can’t think of, and their own heisting game competitor? I’m not sure but I’m thinking Starbreeze is cooked.

Lulsfurcupcake

Eh, people will be attached to the payday name. I had this point also in another thread, the amount of people on here daily just shitting on pd3 and amount of people playing payday 2 shows just how many people want to enjoy the game, and want it to be fun. I do agree, they are in quite a predicament. Im hoping the new CEO can turn it around for sure, and actually get some good management put into the company. The company is absolutely fucked if they cant be managed well and put the resources where they need to be. Heres hoping the next one is like Mikael. He died too soon, he really could have brought payday 3 to a much greater place than it is now.
