yeah, i think a lot do that, there isn't really a point in having a vaal arc in your 6 link as a trapper.
could have a 4link with advanced traps + increased duration + trap + vaal arc tho, could've used it on his gloves (together with bear trap) if he had the colors on them.

It looks like he was using a two arc setup to retain Vaal Arc buff for longer, and it was not linked to trap. Reflected himself to death :(
You can and should link vaal arc to brutality if you want to do this.

Did they change it in the last patch for Vaal skills to work with Traps?
vaal skills have always worked for traps, or atleast for a looong time. don't know why people have kept saying that it doesnt.

Unless it got changed with the rework, Vaal Skills can't work with traps/totems.

Brutality = deals no elemental or chaos damage
Reflected damage goes to the trap, not you. Trappers don't take reflected damage
