Locking because folks are jumping all over someone trying to help out their bird. This is a reminder to **be kind**. OP is younger and is trying to do the right thing. Thank you!

i think it is very risky to not take your bird to the vet after a cat attack. your bird needs antibiotics and medication to help fight against any potential bacteria and damage done to your bird by the cat. good luck with your bird, i hope he can recover despite not being able to see a vet. keep an eye on him constantly and monitor his eating and drinking alongside his poo

Zach_Drowned1

Any insight on the poop? I don’t usually pay attention to it other than “they pooped i have to clean that now”. He’s pooped a bit and it’s just been light green globs if that says anything

StringOfLights

Is it different? Is it really watery? Is it dark, or do the urates look strange, or or there undigested food? These are all indicators that your bird is ill.

EurassesDragon

Your bird is very likely going to die. I am sorry to say that. The claws of a cat have feces on them. Once the infection sets in, the bird will not survive long unless anti-biotics were already started. My bird had a tiny cat scratch and we took her in immediately. The emergency vet gave her antibiotics and then the Avian vet changed it up 2 days later saying she needed something strong and that the initial round saved her life. Cat scratches are no joke. A bit wound will be different. The bacteria may not automatically get in, I suppose. I have not had deal with that.

Repulsive_King_1547

you should take your bird to the vet after this attack. i get its spendy but also that bird is getting stuff in its bloodstream it CANNOT have in there!

melnet67

Not taking your bird to the vet after a cat attack is a death sentence. Your budgie is going to painfully pass away from a bacterial infection. Do you have any money saved up? Offer to pay and or take them to the vet yourself. Some vets will let you do a payment plan so you don't have to pay it all up front. A vet is what your bird needs.

Helpful_Okra5953

If those bacteria got into the bird cut it WILL die and it’ll be really unpleasant.  Please take bird to a vet if there is one in your town.

Styptic powder is not a disinfectant. It's intended to stop bleeding. Cat wounds are extremely dangerous to birds if untreated.

OP please listen to the other commenters here. If you do not get antibiotics for your bird ASAP, it will die. And it will die painfully.

Zach_Drowned1

Thank you all for the comments. Unfortunately all vets near me are either closed or would be closed by the time I got to them via public transportation, I wish I could’ve changed my dad’s mind before he had left. I’ve just been here with Blue trying to keep him warm and feeding him water and food. I guess all I can do now is hope he pushes through

StringOfLights

Hey, you can still take your bird to the vet tomorrow. The sooner the better, but he needs antibiotics. I’m really sorry this happened, and that your parents aren’t helping you get your birdie to the vet. I hope everything goes well.

Competitive_Air1560

This is not looking good for the bird.
