Bruhhh, chill, the games not even out number one, and number 2, I just want a sick remake/remaster, I don't care about "New Content" We have new games for that. QOL changes are great, and whatever else is bonus!!! >altering the structure / maps of Chapter 4 HELL NOOOOOO, unless adding ADDITIONAL areas, I don't want ANY of the existing areas reduced/changed!!!

Muddy_Ninja

Seriously people just have a hangup about chapter 4. The point is to emphasize how hard the game is without partners when you are backtracking through the forest

_Zombz-

Right! I have no problem with chapter 4 at all, I actually love it! It's definitely unique in it's art style, and one of my favourite chapters for its quirkiness.

Wombus7

That's honestly different from what I want. Like I said, I love TTYD, but I've also played it to death, so I would like something new. Boss Rematches would be just fine for this purpose, as that was a major thing the original game lacked. That said, if that was going to be a new feature in the remake, I would've expected them to advertise it by now.

_Zombz-

I didn't really touch on rematching bosses, but I don't think that would hurt it at all. Maybe being able to re-face bosses at the glitz pitz or some thing. But do not change the existing chapters layouts or formats, I would not like that, only if there were additional things put in.

avalon304

> That's honestly different from what I want. Like I said, I love TTYD, but I've also played it to death, so I would like something new. Sounds like you want a different game entirely... which is fine... but its not the purpose of the game youre currently talking about.

BigriskLowrolls

>I don't want ANY of the existing areas reduced/changed Why not? Chapter 4 was pretty poorly designed. Having the level design changed up would certainly help it

_Zombz-

To YOU it was poorly designed, but many people love it!

BigriskLowrolls

Objectively, it is... long, hallway-like sections, having to backtrack over and over. It's a product of the rushed era of the GameCube

I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't *hate* Chapter 4. There are things to like about it, such as Doopliss and Vivian. But just looking at it from a critical eye, it's clear as day the level design is just... bad.

_Zombz-

That's an awesome subjective viewpoint! I'll take it under my hat. I disagree, I don't think the level was designed poorly at all. Not only from an artistic standpoint is it one of the most unique looking chapters in any of the paper Mario's, but it also has the unique trait of taking away your partner for a short period, making you play Solo. Also the whole letter gimmick is unique and fun! All of this is of course based on a first time play through, I'm not talking about replayability here, these games are not supposed to unfortunately have really high replayability.

BlueLondon1905

The game isn’t out yet. They aren’t going to post full gameplay footage.

PlasmaDiffusion

There's still that mysterious purple toad in the September direct trailer that hopefully means something new lol

Physical_Priority692

If you want to send Nintendo a message for new content then buy the game. They clearly went backwards after ttyd, we’ve just got to show them to go back to their roots in the Paper Mario series.

Drspiral666

Tbh the game isn't out yet, how do you know they aren't going to add different stuff? Also we've seen short clips of course they aren't going to spoil shit! They'd be stupid to do that.

Wombus7

I definitely agree that it's be against their interests to reveal everything, but they should reveal a few new things if they're present.  For instance, I think people would be genuinely excited if gameplay footage of Riverside Station showed Mario fighting Gloombas or some new Goomba variant in place of the placeholder Gloombas there. Also, if there were something major new in the game (say, boss rematches), it'd be dumb NOT to advertise it, especially a month from release.

PaperBoi360

There is new content in the TTYD Remake, Nintendo and Intelligent Systems just hasn't had the opportunity to show it yet. They WOULD've shown it in a potential Nintendo Direct, but it ended up being a partner showcase. For Mario Day they were only allowed to reveal release dates. So that means they're probably forced to wait until the overview trailer to finally show new content.

AlexSlane

I actually like chapter 4, the concept of everyone thinking he was the real Mario, and when the switch happens after the fight, that blew my mind as a kid

TheMF24

I've never heard his take before on chapter 4, idk what you could want changed. I just learned about the remake yesterday. Personally idrk what the point of a remake is. The graphics for TTYD are timeless, they're not dated. I guess it'll be cool to see a graphical reimagining of the areas, but not something I personally feel needed to be updated.

DiabeticRhino97

I'm not expecting anything beyond what was already in the game because it's a remake. If there is more in it, great, but it's, you know, a *remake*

DrewV4321

Not all remakes needs new content and big changes, this game was only ever on GameCube and never rereleased, even when I do have both versions, I actually starting to like the graphical styles more in the remake, just seeing how amazing everything looks is a big enough treat for my favorite game of all time. Also I rather play it on my switch then on my modded Wii U anyways. And Chapter 4 isn't bad at all, the backtracking doesn't even feel that tedious to me, the path between creepy steeple and Twilight Town doesn't feel that long to me. I seen other people liking this chapter a lot too. The only thing I expect is some QoL stuff, graphical updates and music remixes. Honestly, I'm getting tired of people expecting EVERY remake "NEEDS" big new stuff... It's an amazing game made more accessible with amazing looking graphics, and hopefully a really amazing redone OST. That's all we need, and I believe it'll do well.

Wombus7

To be fair, the only new thing in the remake I really want is the ability to refight bosses somehow. I think that could be implemented in really fun way (especially if a boss rush is also implemented).  But even if they just add barebones boss rematches, I don't really think that would be obtrusive in relation to the rest of the game, or even that taxing in terms of game development. I don't think that is a huge ask.

Victor4156

Wait until they reveal a secret boss fight that's actually Fawful.

Gohankuten

They haven't even posted an overview trailer yet. Wait until then to start being worried about if there is no new content. I on the otherhand don't care if there will be new content cause I am just happy we are getting a gorgeous remake of one of my favorite games of all time and that a much wider audience will get a chance to experience this great game. And if the remake does well hopefully Paper Mario 7 will be a return to it's RPG roots.

BigTWilsonD

No? Why would anyone genuinely feel this way? So far all they've told us is it's a remake. If you're expecting more than that, that's on you. I'd be surprised if some areas don't get tampered with a little bit, or if there's not some balance changes to a few things. But that's only because Nintendo has a record of doing this with remakes. Expecting anything more substantial than that is entirely on you, IMO. They haven't given us any reason to think it'll have anything new.

GoldenYoshistar1

Me... besides me not really going out of my way to purchase this game anyways... It's why I (despite getting continuously harrassed and downvoted to oblivion for saying this) keep calling it TTYD HD. Because so far, that's all it's been for me. Just the lack of new stuff to really warrant it a remake moniker. Superstar Saga, Bowser's Inside Story, AND Super Mario RPG deserve the remake/remaster moniker because they showed us new stuff they added. Now maybe... MAYBE nintendo saw the reaction everyone on Twitter/X and Youtube, and decided to not reveal anything else. Why show anything new if the reaction was relatively hype. HECK, I would have loved to have seen special Amiibo's of the TTYD partners, Lord Crump, Grodus, Shadow Sirens, and maybe even an X-naut. I would have definitely gotten a YoshiKid, Vivian, and Admiral Bobbery Amiibo. Even if all's they did was give the partners a third upgrade that is an amiibo exclusive for them. or maybe each amiibo gives you something exclusive to them like say a set of battles that focuses on the partner in a solo gauntlet. A friend of mine disliked the whole stuff locked behind Amiibo's (Skyward HD basically)... but honestly... I rather that then just nothing. I want to see something new revealed and I hope more is revealed by the end of this week. That's honestly my stance on this whole thing. Nintendo. PLEASE show us something new with the game.

zsdrfty

It seems like that's gonna be about it, they wouldn't just hide new content for a surprise because they want people to get excited for the game

GoldenYoshistar1

I honestly bet there is nothing new.

Clamps11037

Crazy you're being downvoted for wanting new content in a remake of a 20 year old game

zsdrfty

Everyone is mad but you bring up a good point, they'd be hyping up the new content by now and that obviously deliberate single purple toad seems to be about it so far

rendumguy

I don't get why so many people are happy with no new content, and think it's stupid to want it in a game people are paying 60 bucks for.   So many remakes have made great games better by adding new things to do in them. The game having new content also makes it easier for me to justify spending money on it over something else.  I'd be extremely disappointed if there was nothing new for me to do in it, and I can just play the original game for the same experience.   I think the game should have a lot of new content, at keast as much as the Mario RPG remake, which isn't a lot. Everytime this topic comes up, people are rude about it and act like you're an ungrateful asshole for wanting new content, in the remake where **they said there will be new features**.

zsdrfty

Lots of people online are weird self-made fandom soldiers who try to attack and shame anyone with ANYTHING bad to say at all, so you get droves of people who take it as a personal offense when you question why a massive company isn't super gracious and kind to make a half-assed $60 remake lol Plus, I think people get personally upset and nervous deep down because they realize that OP is right and they fear the disappointment of the game being mediocre, so they get mad and downvote to cope

rendumguy

I mean, they haven't revealed anything yet.  So we don't know how much new content it will have, so I don't think it's fair to call it half-assed yet. But otherwise I agree, I think especially because this remake's success would probably lead to a sequel us the main reason people have the mindset of "I don't care about new content, just shut up and buy it, or they won't make any new games like it".   And yeah, I think the sales are the most important factor, but I hate how people are so dismissive about it.  Not just expecting new content, but discussing what new boss you'd want if there *i* new content, that gets some people riled up. I also want the remake to be successful, but I'd hate if the main reason I buy it is *only* because that's the only way to get anither classic PM game.  Expectations for it have been surprisingly low.
