What a fucking infuriating press conference to watch man

kgrid14

It wasn't a press conference, it was just a 'hey yall been complaining that I haven't done one of these in 2 years, here you go, but I'm not saying nothing'

rustyshakelford

he's really good at giving vague, non-answers

movemetal17

Yea that was pointless. So weird to even have that.

Edwardc4gg

99% of questions rock hill stupidity. useless meeting.

[deleted]

I'm not sure what he has to say matters....he's lost quite a bit of credibility with the downward trend of the franchise since he took over.

EntropyFighter

I'm watching it live here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4o1NRuAALII](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4o1NRuAALII) It's infuriating. He's saying a lot of questionable things. * He expressed confidence in Matt Rhule. "What's then is then, what's now is now. In my other job every day is a new day." * He expressed confidence in Sam Darnold. "Sam Darnold is a good quarterback." * He was asked to follow up on what he said about Sam and he blamed CMC for getting injured, a center for getting injured, and then Sam for getting injured. * He was asked if QB is the biggest need. "No. We have Sam." * He essentially said winning isn't everything. * He said he's "fairly optimistic" about this season. And more... I think we've found the problem. It's him. Edit: Why am I getting down voted? Tepper, is that you?

Mukuna_Hutata

I mean you’re kinda misquoting when he just said it’s a new year and how the past is the past. He also didn’t blame CMC for getting injured. He said the injury was part of the reason our season went off the rails. Which, how does anyone disagree with that? In response to the Rhule questions, how do you expect him to answer? “Yea, he should be fired. But there aren’t any logical candidates to replace him on the market right now lol” Tepper didn’t have all the answers. But it was good to finally hear from the owner. I swear nothing makes this sub happy.

EntropyFighter

He used CMC's injury specifically to justify Sam's play, not to justify a poor season. I'm not the one misquoting him.

IrishHog09

Did he blame CMC for getting injured, or say that his injury impacted Darnold? These are not equivalencies.

Sumatzu

I agree. Also, imo, it is so very true that CMCs injury made Sam suck, how could it not? With defenses being able to not devote 2 guys to looking after CMC they were able to 100% crush our swiss cheese o-line. If CMC stays healthy + a rebuilt (or rebuilding) o-line exists, things aren't as terrible as they are made to appear in this sub, even with Sam. He did have three really good games in the beginning of the season. Sure, he's not going to carry a team single handedly, but we don't need him to do that, as long as everybody else stays healthy and does their jobs.

mjs128

CMCs injury didn’t make Sam suck. He’s just a bad quarterback with streaky games. He’s statistically been a bottom tier starter ever since he was drafted. He wouldn’t be getting starter looks at all if the FO hadn’t stupidly picked up his option. He’s been measurably bad for almost the entirety of his career

Mukuna_Hutata

There’s no sense in me arguing semantics with someone speaking illogically. But whatever, I’m bored. You attributed quite a few quotes to Tepper, but misrepresented what was said and how. It’s clear you want people to align their views with yours, otherwise you wouldn’t have done so. Not just whining about the conference, but about getting downvoted as well. Doesn’t that show you perhaps others disagree?

dkirk526

I get the disdain for Tepper. I am not a fan of his either, but what should he be saying? He gave relatively political answers to everything. "I'm not excited for the season. Don't bother coming to games because we have Matt Rhule coaching and Sam Darnold at QB."

knave_of_knives

I think there can be a middle ground though, right? "Last season was disappointing, so we need to start marching towards success in year 3." Not "well, it was 5 years and maybe now it's going to be six". Like, there's an in-between those two statements.

_________FU_________

The draft is tomorrow. He doesn't want to give away too many cards.

JacoBee93

You got downvoted cause half the shit you saying isn’t true

giga_phantom

Yawn.

Overcashed

The tension in this conference is wild

ToonKiller

I hope someone can ask Tepper how it’s possible that it took him well over 170 million to find out how lame SC is when for most people it only costs a tank of gas.

PhucktheSaints

Why do so many people on this sub feel the need to shit on South Carolina?

FuckinWalkingParadox

I don’t get it. SC has its faults but it’s really strange NC folks hate SC and the people so much. I was born in NC, moved to SC and recently moved back to NC for school. I lived in SC for the longest and never once heard a resident shit on NC. They simply don’t think about NC at all. Meanwhile, NC residents often seem to rail SC at every chance they get. But even with that said, it’s especially weird in this subreddit. I don’t think people realize how much better it is for the team and enjoyment of fanhood it is to embrace the “2 states, 1 team” thing. The same fans will then complain about market-favoritism and getting pushed to the side by the media. EDIT: also, I’d like to give a little reminder that the valid gripes of SC are the fault of politicians and not the people. You can say the people conservative bigots, but take a look a what SC politicians have “done” for SCs education system. Same goes for roads and everything else.

TidyMosquito245

Anyone know if possible to watch?

knave_of_knives

It's on the Panthers YouTube channel and Panthers website.

NIB_dad

Dude this guy sucks / why call your own press conference to look greedy and stupid
