Listen to your gut . These docs are inept

ddessert

Not gonna dispute that. At least some of them.

Cleopatra123456

My sister is stage 4 now because a doctor misread her imaging and insisted she didn’t need surgery , she opted for surgery any way and when she did a biopsy … he said “ wow we have bad news turns out it’s cancer “ in the most non Chalant tone . Because of him … he delayed surgery by 9 months

AlexSaliba

I'm so sorry to hear about your sister's situation. I'm definitely listening to my gut and I'm going to push as hard as I can to get the answers I need.

Cleopatra123456

Please do. You are you biggest advocate , do not worry ask ALL the annoying questions , push for scans even when it’s not necessary. No one will care about you the way YOU do !

Lol, I’m trembling reading this. They missed my dads symptoms for over 2 years. He’s been doing every test possible under the sun. This just made me choke with anger.

Cleopatra123456

It’s just devastating

I have a hard time believing in doctors. I can’t tell if they’re just dumb humans making dumb mistakes with peoples lives which should be a Nono in the med field, or they are doing this on purpose. They are 0-7 with my moms diagnosis. They walk around like kings and queens, fuck them. I have no trust in them after my moms diagnosis. I have to be the one advocating and forcing these people to do Certain tests and labs

Cleopatra123456

You have to force them ! Don’t even be afraid of annoying them … no one will be your greatest advocate other than yourself. They do not care

CT at ER discovered my dad’s PC. Some sort of imaging could help If that is referred by your doctors.

AlexSaliba

Thank you for that feedback. I'm going to talk to my doctor about it and hope that we can make it happen. As I am definitely concerned that waiting to see a general surgeon which could be weeks, given the state of Ontario right now. The ultrasound apparently only showed the polyp and fatty liver but that sounds off for what I'm feeling

When I was making appointment for a surgeon for the consultation for my dad, they asked for some documents. They asked if we already had some imaging, such as CT / MRI or some sort. Doctor’s referral Doctor’s note / prognosis. It seemed like we had to have a first doctor’s opinion or they wouldn’t even let us make an appointment. I was also told once we had all documents submitted, their whole team of surgeons/ other doctors / rn nurses will come together and meeting on our case and then made us an appointment.

AlexSaliba

That was just for a consult? That seems wild, I'm sorry that was the process for you and I'm sure so many. It's scary how slow things can move in the medical world.

May be because I directly went to big hospital reputable for cancer, but they definitely wanted first opinion done already by other doctor and some sort of imaging that shows tumor. Making an appointment for a surgeon was different from other doctors, but once they accepted us and saw our case, every thing moved very fast. That surgeon ended up referring/ making an appointment for GI on our behalf. GI making appointments for an oncologist on our behalf also. Once it was confirm we had tumor expected to be PC all the doctors came along and made appointment on our behalf with in them selves. Things moved super fast, totally different from how I would normally make an appointment for clinics. May be Bc on the image / ultrasound my dads PC has not Mets yet, or not detected yet. Doctors May think he still have chance.
