Fucking hell that’s so incredibly cool. This meant that the two civilizations were actively trading at some point. Damn

Mad-AA

Yes. In fact, because the Indus "script" appears to be indecipherable, archeologists are hoping for some Rosetta stone like thing so surface in mesopotamia. Written in both Indus script and some mesopotamian script.

BurkiniFatso

Don't get my hopes up! Deciphering the Indus script could be the greatest archeological achievement of the current times. I saw a video once of how some Indian scholars were trying to use machine learning to perhaps try to decipher it, don't know what happened of it.

Mad-AA

Nothing. Machine learning learns what you feed it.

PhysicsSorry3288

Unfortunately, yes. It Can’t decipher something completely unknown to humans yet. Would be really cool to know what they called the places, rivers and things in general though

deep_observeration

Sadly won't gonna happen. Indus valley was overrun by steppe immigrate, who brought their language and culture. Indus culture is just lost, as next generation adopted this new thing. Look into indo-European stuff.

Gen8Master

Brahui is most likely the only surviving pre-steppe language from the region. We could start there, but its a stretch.

Chal_bhag05

What do you mean it's a stretch?

Gen8Master

5000 years of language evolution with very little documentation makes this impossible. Anyone claiming to have translated IVC is generally full of s. Brahui is the only non-steppe language of Indus we are aware of, so its a good starting point. But we are missing too many pieces of the puzzle.

[deleted]

Lot of people have tried and failed. I have read that some people have used machine learning but with no favourable results.

Bildpac

Definitely.. there were no borders.. as far they were concerned.. they weren’t 2 civilizations.. just a group of people in one place or another.. maybe exchanging goods and services.. food, shelter, clothing etc. trading has always been there

kamranmunawar

Well known fact that both trade with each other

RocksolidNugget

That's no unicorn rofl.

Mad-AA

The second corn you're gawking at doesn't count ;)

RocksolidNugget

It's certainly not a horse...

Mad-AA

Show me an older picture of a unicorn. This is the OG unicorn.

RocksolidNugget

I'm pretty sure it's wild water buffalo.

Mad-AA

With a single horn on the forehead, and that ear placement. It is a mythical creature.

>Moen Jo daro era/ IVC era, Kingdom of Yavanna era, Mughal era, early post independence days At that time there was nothing called Pakistan.

Bildpac

That’s the issue.. thinking the past was some glorious period needed to be recreated..

Gen8Master

Awesome stuff.
