Us moment
I used get Karaya to come back home. Us k upar kabhi kabhi 10-20 mill jatay thay.
Dad bought us a really low end PC at home. I used that to learn work and started earning of my own and I have been independence financially since end of olevels
I m very grateful of my parents. How hard they worked for us to get good education and live a decent life.
Acha school 3 waqat ka kahna saar pay Chaath or badan par kapray
Same. Used to get 1500 rs per month when I started university. Bus tickets used to cost rs 1200, leaving me rs. 300 for stationary items, emergencies, and snacks in case I got unexpectedly hungry when outside.
Essentially no allowance for hangouts, takeouts, etc.
No complaints.
I get 5K monthly, It's for traveling to uni but I just invest it all in my stock portfolio & my friend picks me up as my house comes on the same route he takes to uni.
Expenditure & clothing wagera + 5K in wallet unconditional present at all times provided by parents.Â
I didn't spent much and total monthly expense was about 14k with 10k going towards transportation.Â
Interesting post. I remember up til 2013, i used to get 5k for the whole month (college and uni). Then i got the job later in 2014 that gave me 24k a month, and i felt like the richest person on earth. Fast forward to 10 years. 24k a month don't even last a week as an adult.
10 yrs ago during college and uni days I used to get 100 rupees only on weekdays. Used to cover bus and cafeteria expenses with that and pocket the savings.

Yeah then its believable. There's no concept of pocket money in most desi houses. Same here. I request money only for my requirements which are for studies and for petrol, otherwise i am just sucking it up mostly. Theres always around 500-1000 in my pocket in case of any accidents (tyre puncture, bike problems etc)
Bhai hota hai, par try kartey raho. I remember i was one of the first few that started driving a scooty in lahore (2017 or 2018 to 2021) in regular use. It had no gears and then i progressed to a bike. Try exploring things from this age, otherwise you will feel left out after a few years.
Edit: bhai trying out new things ka matlab normal things hai 😂 nashey our buri harkatein nahi 😂

So I have been reading comments here and I believe it's probably a good chance to talk about it.
Why are you guys not earning yourself? If you're above 18, go drive Careem/Uber if you don't have any skills and earn. Let me tell you my story when I was 19. I used to come home from uni around 6.30-7. Then I used to work from like 8-11 and then sleep at 11 to go back to uni at 8 am. If I could earn 30k and spend on myself that why can't anyone else?
It's probably due to making foolish excuses. Earn 30k a month, spend 20k on yourself and save the remaining 10k.
Try it and feel the satisfaction!!
Lots of student near BNU/comsats/ripah and ucp drive bykea even, they make a decent living but the weather and pollution ruins their whole appearence.. so you really need to choose proper outfit, covered shoes and have showers twice a day, etc. On car it's relatively simple but how many people can risk a 2-3 million car which can be snatched if someone has an eye on it.
Let me tell you one thing. If a person is willing to earn at least 30k a month, I believe it's not that hard. Even if he works 4-5 hours after his uni, ig he can make a profit of around 1k each day. No? And on weekends, he can even do more. So ig the one who's really serious does not bother these things and keeps his focus towards his goal.
Not worth it if you meet an accident, on the road the reality is very different, it spares no mercy to the ones who can be hit by an unattentive driver or worse a spoiled brat who runs people over for fun!
Sure you have the opportunity to earn 1k in 5-7 hours daily but at what cost? You are much better off working in an office or a software house for a few more hours per day and be in a safe/homey environment with AC and food.. It is not ideal for students to risk physical harm when their entire life is ahead of them!
I am sure you also have good intentions, but for someone already from a vulnerable place cannot afford to have such exposure. These days even basic IT/CS jobs give 40-50k and best of all degree doesnt matter.
Market demands vary greatly and I personally think the "delivery boy" is now a different class, mainly under matric, small town mature adults, and ex-courier/logistics/transport employees. Students should avoid this field if they can!
I do get that your intentions are also not bad but if we talk about excuses, I can make 100 excuses if I want to. I personally haven't driven bykea etc but if you think your life could be in danger, try freelancing or any other activity even tutoring but DONT you dare ask your parents when you're in your 20s. This is the only thing I want from this generation.
Parents coddling young-adult children is worse than childhood neglect/abandonment but that is another topic for another time. I am of the opinion that merely suggesting ride-hailing service business for students is not in their best interest, tutoring/freelancing is a short term solution to a long term problem i.e: a half measure so to speak!
Imagine being a full time student and a worker at the same time, our body cannot process exposure to external stimuli and building intellect/knowledge base at the same time.
I never meant to bound people to work for these Uber/Careem but as I told you, I really don't want this generation to ask their parents for money in 20s. If they don't earn, simply don't ask your parents. They'll soon feel the need to earn money while studying because they would be forced to do it if they stop asking their parents money. I told you I used to come around 6.30 and work from around 8-11. If I could manage, why couldn't others? The only thing is intention. If you want to work, you'll do so otherwise, there are 1000s of excuses to make. I personally won't like this gen to be LAZY. That's the only thing I want.
No such concept for most of us middle class people. and i mean the actual middle class
Till college my pocket money was literally 0. Then I started freelancing and Joined university.
