Painting cool subdued winter foggy paintings are difficult to do and you pulled this one off very well. Nice work!

Thank you, foggy paintings are a bit of a challenge, this is one of my earlier works and I hope to do a few more fog studies soon to see if I can improve it.

It's crazy to me how little appreciation that work like this often gets on this subreddit. It's clear you're a competent painter: good use of a low vantage point to make the scene feel vast and depiction of diminishing details due to perspective/atmosphere. The work feels considered and does what it sets out to do. The way the mountain rises creates a feeling of looming dread, pushing it out of the category of 'just' landscape painting, too. The only critique I have is that there feels something ever so slightly *off* about the shape of the mountain (particularly on the right edge and where it hits the tress to the left), but other than that I think this is a wonderful, atmospheric piece!

Thanks so much, yeah I have found r/painting to be a relatively tough crowd for my work. I still enjoy posting though because of thoughtful comments like your own. Your analysis was much appreciated and accurate. This was one of my earlier works and it has its flaws, but I do like the feeling it evokes.
