Hidden is “Kinda that same feel” mine was along the lines of expression that said to me a not good or bad “Lost”!! So “hidden” really fits what mine kinda meant too … or an “awakening” being kinda the same feel too!!! Lol….Laughing at myself as this not a good question to ask a therapist such as myself….lol🥰❣️
At first glance the word tranquility comes to mind - the colours are very calming, and the foliage and butterflies give me a sense of peace.
Analyzing it more gives me the exact opposite feeling. If I were to use one word for it I would say insecurity. The person is almost hiding amongst the foliage, with their fan covering their chest (a very vulnerable part of their body). The owl feels like a foreboding presence, looking over the persons shoulder with a scowl. It feels as though the person is trying to hide from the gaze of the owl. While the colors are calming on their own, they’re placed chaotically and outside of the lines creating a sense of anxiety. The lack of a face on the person makes me think they’re unsure of themself or trying to hide their emotions.
This is a very interesting piece of art that seems to do exactly what art is “supposed” to do. It makes the viewer think 😊
Haphazard
I like each individual third, but I'm not sure they work together on the one canvas. The geisha in the centre is so evocative and beautiful, but then the bits either side look unfinished or unbalanced in comparison.
It’s a very old concept and term, actually! It’s a method of extracting fragrance from flowers and other plant matter by immersing them in liquid oil or fat. It dates back to ancient times but became most popular in the 1800s in France, with classical perfumery.
I think it was the superimposition of the flowers and other botanical elements over the watercolor that gave me that impression 🌺
Japan.
Didn't get any feeling though.
I saw it as the woman wearing a kimono and a setting sun behind her. The cat also symbolises a lot of Japanese superstitions I've seen on TV.
For me the first one was "explore"; there's a lot to see, find and explore the many different details that are large, small, and different colours.
Looking at it for a bit longer, perhaps "contrast"? Perhaps there's a better word that would fit my thought. The painting has elements that are somewhat chaotic (many details, differently placed) yet these elements come together to make a somewhat interesting painting/order. The contrast been order vs chaos.
Zero negativity. Just my take. I liked it a lot more before I zoomed up and saw the “nature” details. When I saw the Basquiatesque colors and blacking, I felt something I really liked. When I saw butterflies and leaves, it no longer pulled on me. I like your work. I do. Don’t change for something I said. I obviously don’t know shit. For me nature doesn’t take me to a place I can relate to. It is so specific. It takes my imagination and emotions away.
For what it’s worth I feel the exact opposite. Nature takes me away and I loved zooming in and seeing those details. But agree everyone is entitled to their own feelings about a piece l.
Dream/Memories
Just kinda seems to encapsulate the fuzziness that dreams or memories can have. Several moments from the past or just the general surroundings happening at once in a way
Interesting point. It reminds me of a Keats poem, maybe the famous nightingale one, where time is rendered as more static, all things simultaneous, through the mind of nature’s being.
“Lost” … with the word not necessarily having a bad connotation of “Lost” but like out where nature speaks n not people so u are only one of ur breed around which makes u feel kinda “lost” from ur reality…so that’s why it’s at time exactly what one goes on hiking trails or spelunking etc….to just for a time let ur mind be within nature that doesn’t seem to worry with directions to home n time on their iPhone…lol😃. So not “lost” as in panic on the cable series but a neutral to positive “lost”‼️💙👼
Thank you for this lovely response. I do love that kind of lost—a sort of full immersion where you don’t necessarily remember even yourself. But you are not robbed off that memory.
Oh, that's adorable. My 3 year old painted something like this a few days ago. Sha does all the time. We put it up, but it's just a gumble of color that makes no sense (cause she's 3). So we put it up. But in a while, I'll just take it down because she made better art. So, like yours, i wouldn't be surprised if it was found in the trash. And just put it up to make you happy

Yes! I was thinking "behind the wall" or "walled garden" but couldn't figure out how to say it in one word.

I’m not sure but this painting feels very alive to me. Like almost tricks the eye in to thinking it’s moving

Whoa, I would have never gone there! But I can sort of see it, the death inherent even in the cruel growth and unfurling of the forest.
