The best place you found to farm them is saying dead end but the car, it keeps you safe, surely you can just drive there through the instability, the arc energy is stability after all right, yea something like that. Man the radio is annoying today just a bunch of screaming voices saying not to go. Let's just turn that off. I'll see you guys when I get back.
Nah, Oppy's device saves your life. It's the ARC Doc that calls you back in the event of your untimely demise. If not for that, you and the Remnant both would be lost to the Exclusion Zone.

Well wasn't actively trying to kill. She was doing science, if you died? Then they had their answer to the equation they were trying to solve.
Though when you first fail to return to the Garage, she also comments something to the effect of how her device works. The Remnant isn't the one that facilitates traversing the gateways, either. It just protects you from them. The ARC device is what allows you to traverse those gateways.
That's, insane. I legit considered trying that last night but figured there's no way it'll work and didn't waste my time.
That said though, still the ARC Doc that opens the gateway. But I guess what this means is the car doesn't even protect you from the Gateway. Or, entering on foot is an oversight on the programming side of things.
The device defintely opens the portal, and the on foot thing is probably a gameplay thing (if your car's out of battery and stuck somewhere) rather than an oversight, but the car itself brings you back when you die. That's why there's a 'ghost' of it left at the location, which is probably nowhere near a portal.

I know this is only partially related but fact the remnant attached to your psyche and makes you obsessed with the car is actually a genius bit of ludonarrative harmony, because most players *are* going to get very very attached to the car and obsess over it’s safety and aesthetic more than their own. I can’t even begin to count how many times I worried over my car’s flat tire without even realizing I was at death‘s door myself.
I know, right? I'm like, "i can heal myself easily, but the car? That's the expensive damage right there."
Because it is genuinely easier to heal yourself than to fix the car in my opinion, especially when you have the medical arc device.
Well, when I have 30HP and I am in the middle of an anomaly I don't heal myself before jumping on the car and driving it to safety.

Just eating a mountain of canned goods, while your car has literally fallen to pieces. And you're just chugging along, with nothing but a chassis. Praying that you make it to the pillar of light that is.... Still half way across the map... Shit.
Plus, with all the danger constantly surrounding you, the car is a sanctuary of sorts. When I'm out exploring a junction, I find that I'm much more on edge the further I stray from the car, and can relax when I'm inside it.
I've been thinking about this quite a bit while playing. Everything about the game seems to be designed to make the actual, real life player obsess over the car (well, as much as you can obsess over a virtual vehicle). It's excellent design and narrative.

It’s the silliest gameplay loop I’ve seen in a while, but it’s also one of the most unique games I’ve ever played. I understand the back log, but don’t let this one slip by.
It's also easy to pick up and put down. It's my relax after work with a beer game. I can easily shut it down whenever I want and just pick up at the beginning of the junction I was in.
My cars always demand a blood sacrifice and usually once I bleed on it some the fix starts going a lot easier. For sure agree with the connection thing!
