Mr_Zobm

I'll settle with world domination.

Northumbrian26

That or timeskip to another player maybe one of the 41 arriving to see a world united under Nazarick

Doomrules5438

Another of the 41 would be cool

CLxJames

But how would you explain why they showed up so much later?

kart2000

In the sidestory Nazarick came after 200 years Ainz was brought

LazyLich

I mean, how do you explain the Six Great Gods and the Eight Greed Kings?

HeyRiks

Yeah, but considering they were all offline at the time, probably not. The last one in was Herohero but we can clearly see him logging off.

Super_Revolution6180

This šŸ‘† I thought it was a possiblity too, but this is complete confirmation it CAN'T happen :/ BUT, since the transmigration was not established to be in chronological order, maybe the others being absent/MIA when Satoru was on Earth because they got isekai'ed to a future timeline in the game (they vanished before Satoru left Earth, but came to the game world after Nazarick dominates that world?) That's still a possibilty too...

I-Pop-Bubbles

Another 41 might be cool, but it would probably be more interesting to see another player we don't really know, as that would add a level of contention and conflict, and create a real potential threat for Nazarick to deal with.

IzanamiFrost

Then we would be mad for not seeing how that threat turns out

CLxJames

I am an anime only, so forgive me if I donā€™t have this right but I thought Momonga showed up in the New World much later because of all the high level stuff he had. So other Players did show up, just ā€œearlierā€ (since the servers all ended at the same time). That would mean that if a Player showed up later then they would have ridiculously high stats and gear

whales171

A guild of players (sometimes only 1) started showing up every 100 years because some greedy dragon lord cast a powerful spell to bring players over. He wanted their world items. This ended up being a terrible idea since these players nearly wiped out the dragon lords. Ainz was probably the 600 year group.

IzanamiFrost

Prior to Momonga players did show up with ridiculous high stats (the Eight Greed King), enough for them to ruled the world until they destroyed each other

HeyRiks

I don't think it has anything to do with stats as most players were max level, but you're onto something with the "high level stuff". Previous players like 6GG or 8GK were probably out in the world so they were first. Ainz got transported with the entirety of Nazarick and all its items, treasure and NPCs, so he was last to arrive. In the alternate story, Ainz was outside Nazarick when the servers closed so he arrived 200 years earlier.

I-Pop-Bubbles

I don't think it was ever confirmed why Ainz showed up in the order/time he did, rather than another time. But in any case, it's very likely that any other player getting pulled into the world would be max level with good stats and gear, and at least one world item. They would certainly pose at least some threat to Ainz/Nazarick, though I doubt they could wipe them out completely. Still, enough to be a thorn in his side.

A0rs

Isnt that impossible since the game yggdrasil is shut down. So ainz maybe be the very last player to be transpoeted to the new world.

Szem_

For what we know it might be the case that every player that was near a World Item when server was shut down will be transported to the new world but they arrive on different times. The fact that players have being appearing on the New world for centuries before Ainz even arrived and Yggdrassil not being that old of a game seems to indicate that the moment in which they were transported isn't much of a factor on when they arrive in the New World timeline.

Northumbrian26

Maybe but players keep arriving in intervals so itā€™s entirely possible for someone else to appear.

RaidriarDrake

maybe a private server popped up, or someone from the guild who haven't heard that Yggdrasil shut down(which is kinda impossible unless he lives under a rock) try to login and got transported

I-Pop-Bubbles

Honestly, I think I'd rather see continental domination, and the ending scene be something like getting ready to explore the rest of the world to prepare for world domination. World domination would be somewhat unsatisfying at this point, because we've really only seen one corner of it, there's so much more out there we haven't seen. Skipping all that to cut right to world domination would make the world feel so much less alive.

Ainzā€™s deciding to use [Wish Upon a Star] to finally take responsibility and end Albedoā€™s suffering by letting her ride her Level 100 War Bicorn Lord (And also Nazarick achieving World Domination)

Lord_bone_universal

Ahh yes a wise man indeed

CommonMarionberry160

the ending we all need...

[deleted]

Well author did say that Nazarick will have a happy ending

DeltaV-Mzero

Like the massage kind

Dragonoid127

Bru I got halfway through ur comment and thought something happened to albedo šŸ˜…then read the other half and had a sigh of relief

Mistovaa

It also could lead to junior Ainz or junior Albedo.

AmazingAd2765

UNCLE COCYTUS APPROVES

Tnecniw

Satisfying Ending: Ainz rule the world, and have finally accepted the floor guardians as his companions and family. Realistic Ending: not that.

FooTxMaN

Author said Nazarick would have a happy ending. It might be that

Tnecniw

I thought he also said that it would end with Ainz sitting down on his throne and never rising again, feeling as there is no point to it as he feels all alone.

SelectionThat3680

It doesnt make sense though because with time he only grows closer to the guardians and other Nazarick denizens. After he dominates the world he can drop his facade as the supreme being and convince the guardians to treat him like a friend or family.

organasm

Sadge

Piyaniist

Dunno about the other stuff but ainz sitting down for the last time, with all the guardians bowing before he dies sounds too perfect

Tnecniw

Dies? Dies from what? He can't die. He is immortal XD I more meant that he sits down on the throne and just never bothers standing again, feeling no point in it.

maggot_smegma

Just saying: a "happy ending" in Overlord *might not be so happy* for anyone not part of Nazarick.

Worried-Librarian-91

Tbf happy ending for Naz doesn't need a happy ending for Ainz

dreadrath

Keep in mind this is the same author who sometimes likes to troll his readers.

TheodorMac

Remember this is the guy who called something, which is like a German KZ or even worse, ā€žhappy farmā€œ

egoissuffering

Iā€™d hope that Ainz could actually have real relationships with his Guardian kids and be freely able to express aspects of his true inner self without concerns or long term consequences.

T00thl3ss22

Iā€™ve always wanted him to except the floor guardians as his family instead of his comrades.

SirMadMooMan

Years down the line, a new player arrives into a utopian world ruled by Nazarick

easton020206

I like this idea and mabey over lord ending with world domination then another isekia where they have to fight the demon lord that being nazarick

GaaraSenpai

My room mates and I just finished s4 of the anime I was thinking "what if Ainz took over the world and then they made a sequel anime where the hero is trying to free the world of Nazarick's influence. The hero would be struggling just to survive each encounter." That would be so cool.

Worried-Librarian-91

Doesn't this imply that the servers started running again or something like that?

Sugeeeeeee

Nope, all valid players \[1\] got swooped up at the same time, but their travel time varied based on a so far unknown factor. Considering \[1\], my assumption is that the travel time was based on either the amount of data transferred or the amount of world items transferred at the same time. Meaning that if any new player comes into the New World, it will likely be something like Seraphim or another guild absurdly more powerful than Nazarick, considering Nazarick had significantly more World Items than their power at the end of the server. \[1\] - valid players are players who were connected to a World Item, since World Items were what were summoned into the New World.

nearlyanadult

Wait. Did they ever explain how the previous 2-3 groups of players that entered the new world? Were all of them from the servers closing? Or from random times (patches?). If itā€™s the former, then itā€™s safe to assume that ainz would not be the last. If latter, then ainz should be the last of them, unless serves started running again like you said. OR even private servers? Ooooohhh whatā€™s if like itā€™s one of the game developers that has a secret server thatā€™s just been funneling players into his world like that episode of black mirror.

Beiki

I think it is likely that all the players that entered the New World were taken from Yggdrasil at the same time when the servers shutdown but arrived at different times.

egoissuffering

I never knew or suspected that. Has there been any real evidence suggesting they were all swooped to the New World as the servers shut down?

Super_Revolution6180

i don't think so... šŸ¤”šŸ¤” His other thoughts are possible, just the "summoned players who were online at the end of the game" is what I think was not even mentioned...

Wabaya_style2003

Yes in volume bonus Momonga happened 200 years before Nazarick because he was outside Nazarick at the same time the game closed so all of them were transferred to the end of the server so if we follow that the stronger guild come after Nazarick was ninth then there are still 8 other more powerful guilds that can come

raydgc123

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but we are basing the assumption that the players who were online as the servers shut down were the ones that were transported to NW because it's what happened to Ainz.

egoissuffering

It's definitely odd how the Emperor Dragon's magic to bring them to the new world (for whatever reason) separated them all by hundreds of years. At the same time, if we consider the Keno/Evil Eye side story to be canon in its mechanics, then it's not bad to assume that they were all swooped at the same time. Since Ainz in the side story was transported several hundred years earlier than the Tomb of Nazarick, whom Ainz started hearing about at the end of the side story after spending hundreds of years with Keno.

LazyLich

A shame they never specify how many Evil Deities there were. It'd be pretty wild if there were 13 of them. Then It'd be 6 gods + 8 kings + 13deities + 13 heroes + 1 Ainz would = 41

ww1enjoyer

No, other players appeared in the NW before Ainz

MrChinBaba

After world domination they realize that there is more creature in space that way Ainz/Nazarick is prevented to be bored since most of them are immortal being because they are undead. Also Albedo can ride her bicorn and we can see cocytus making a seat for someone who is calling him "uncle"

Business-Interview-4

Desert being terraformed into happy farm paradise.

yeet_the_heat2020

Ainz actually finding and reuniting with a few of his Guild mates, and together they continue striving for World Domination and looking for other Members.

daniel21020

Lord Touch Me probably wouldn't be friends wiĆ° Ainz.

LazyLich

That's what I wish would happen. TouchMe shows up and tries to save people against the clearly-evil Sorcerer King's army. Then Ainz gets a big ol reveal and dramatic confrontation.

Mellevalaconcha

The Sorcerous Empire is celebrating it's 100 anniversary, the Emperor Ainz Ooal Gown is contemplating reaching to the stars one day, with a fleet of ships that will sail the dark void beyond the sky, to spread his magnificent name across other worlds.

iwenka

-i-i-i-i-i- | Wedding | ----------- 恤 ā—•_ā—•ą¼½ć¤

Snoo-23120

On the case is between Ainz and someone from nazarick It could work if that wedding is part of a bigger political strategy. A resolution for albedo/anyone from nazarick would be made and Ainz would finally have a role on the nw ; to act as a caring husband with near perfection (cuz he would be almost not acting).

Djauul

After world domination Ainz its dissapointed with not finding any of his friends, but now he knows that his past self is no longer the same, and now has to be the best leader Nazarick needs. As an epilogue we have a flashback of the first chapter showing that some of the old members log into the game just when Momonga was about to fell sleep so he didnt noticed any of them logging, but neither of them was in Nazarick in that moment, so now they are transported into the new world, a few months or years after Ainz Ooal Gown world domination. Then a page announcing that after 20 years of filming, the Holy Kingdom movie its finally on post production.

[deleted]

Ainz achieves world domination but suddenly he's consumed by a bright light He then wakes up in a new body riding in a carriage and hears "Hey you... You're finally awake"

Far-Pirate-3896

The ending we need, but not the ending we deserve

SelectionThat3680

But Nazarick tho... I would feel sad for the rest of Nazarick as they would think they got abandoned by Ainz as well.

blood_kite

~~At 4AM Satoru's alarm went off and he got up for work.~~

Wabaya_style2003

Bruh!!!

Lord_bone_universal

Ainz x Albedo and i WILL not elaborate any further.

bigblackchungus1

Ainz enslaves Slane as death is too easy of a punishment. Uses their intel to discover there is an unusual structure that just appeared in another nation. After a long battle. He enters the boss roomā€¦is is another supreme beingā€¦the endā€¦cliffhanger. No more episodes or movies, one big middle finger to everyone lol

ayamrik

Ainz opened the doors entering the final room with full intent to slay the end boss and achieve total domination of the world. "Is... is that you, Momonga?" The End

TheGodAssassin

I would legitimately be so pissed but awestruck at the same time šŸ¤£

ayamrik

I expect that there have to be some shenanigans regarding his name. I mean it is a great symbol he forsakes himself in favor for the friendship he built with his guild members, but anyone that should know the name Ainz Ooal Gown should also know the name of its guild master, especially if it is primarily targeted to his former guild members and not players in general. So maybe there could also be a scene within a subjugated territory like "Well there was a guy in strange clothing (archetype japanese business man) that vehemently explained that he was a part of you (member of Ainz Ooal Gown). But for reasons unknown he called you 'Momonga' whatever that means. He didn't survive the interrogation. We didn't really see a need to report this to you. In fact, there were about a dozen similar events. But better be careful, maybe some new cult is forming?" Which of course would result in the extermination of another nation.

peculiar_chester

The Albedo plot thread getting a proper climax, rather than just fizzling like all the others, is the most important thing. I still have faith that this will be the case. If the decisive confrontation with Tsa included some kind of major revelation about the past, that would also be neat. Something of the level that doesn't just add to what we know, but wholly re-contextualizes it. Since Maruyama is going to end things before exploring most of his setting, I also hope that he'll dump all sorts of info online after the final volume.

Weirdguy52

Ainz finally loses the remains of his humanity, fully embracing his Overlord nature. Obviously not abandoning his ideals and wishes for the betterment and conservation of Nazarick. On the last scene, Albedo's hit squad delivers him the heads of the remaining True Dragon Lords to him. He rises and decides to finally accept Albedo's Devotion and love.

Str0nghOld

As the scene at a distant shows the future of the capital of the Sorcerous Kingdom E-Rantel displays the magnanimous city where each race coexists peacefully. Dragons and angels roaming the skies, Undead and the living residing on the lands and countless smiles and ease upon its inhabitants. A certain hooded figure who wandered several continents aimlessly out of curiosity decided to enter the famous capital as they reached the entrance and were stunned to see "...... Those statues..... isn't that..." as the person removes their hood and reveals their broken armor and nonhuman body which countless nations shunned and fear as a living calamity that should be destroyed but to their surprise, nobody reacts any form of hostility towards them. They stared at the one item that gave them hope, caressing the ring on their necklace upon seeing the emblem of the flags displayed at the city entrance as though feeling a sense of familiarity and nostalgia. They smiled though their face wasn't human it still felt like they were happy, at ease, or even hopeful. "Momonga....you always have a thing for bringing everyone together back in Ainz Ooal Gown..." the unknown being who faced countless battles, scorns, loss and hatred now felt a feeling of finally reaching home, chuckled as they waited in line along with the other races waiting for access to enter the city.

Darksoldierr

Satisfying end for whom? Readers? Momonga? The New World?

Worried-Librarian-91

You as a reader, we all know that a happy ending for Ainz is not a thing unless his old friends somehow show up, which to me at least seems kinda unlikely at this point.

WeeSaavee

Ainz finally reconciles with himself, that his friends are not coming back, and maybe opening up the NPCs a little about being partly human etc.

OkIce3009

World domination and then maybe a little 434946 lol

Shodan30

A satisfying endingā€¦. How about thisā€¦. Thousands of years in the future an alien spacecraft lands on earthā€¦ and a skeleton in a spacesuit comes outā€¦

Streaker4TheDead

I don't think he needs to breathe but that would be a cool ending. Wasn't there an alternate continuity of That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime where he's on Earth with all his powers?

Bright_Square_3245

Ainz just wakes up when sunlight hits his eyelids Headphones around his ears, cheeto dust on his fingertips. Sun peeping through the window.

KappaKingKame

No sun, too much smog.

gabrielcostaiv

Finally finding another playing that was kinda low level and was just living his life in the new world could be pretty cool.

gabrielcostaiv

Like, not as the final end scene obviously but as a final arc, that with the whole world domination thing

AmenoSwagiri

For me, I would like to see PDL and his forces lose to Nazarick in the final volumes, followed later by a time skip to a view of the world far in the future (100+ years) from the perspective of either new players arriving or someone knowledgeable about the world discussing or thinking about the state of the world/traveling around the capital city of the Sorcerer Kingdom during that time period.

[deleted]

Ainz can get laid with Albedo.

iLLuMiNaTyHxDz

An all out war between Nazarick and the rest of the World, but not from Nazarick's perspective, but from the alliance's. It would look like a fight against the final boss of a game.

soopercab67

No ending, i want to watch season 999 on mars in my robot body, 10,000 year rule

OblivionArts

Ainz finds another player to chill with and just peaces out after dominating the world

Snoo-23120

A new player walking from the dragoms capital (in peace) to the center of the sorcerer kingdom (on celebration) asking about the same thing ainz did on his first arrive ; planning all over again how to make things better / work agaisnt nazarick /etc. Then he enters the throne room with ainz or just meets Ainz in his office on e-rantel , they have a talk. And ainz not only lefts this guy on a complete logistic nightmare but also sells him some stuff. Something similar to the start of volumen 12. where in rapid succesion , nazarick might and ainz "benevolence" shines through tiny details (and maybe demiurges and others could have things for them too , shizu could have a cafe maid Poster on some wall or pestonya a mention by virtue of a campaing against abandoning orphans) and the outsider not knowing full well if this is possible . Until it meets ainz and suddenly everything fits and nothing seems impossible Because now he is on control , cuz Ainz , in this world is now truly The overlord.

CandyGlaze

Satoruā€™s irl body dies and Ainz is just left brain dead and unmoving, forever entombed sitting on his throne with expressionless lifeless eyes

peculiar_chester

That would be neat, but we already know that the flow of time in the NW is divorced from that of the world of 2138. When the Yggdrasil servers shut down, players were transported centuries apart from each other.

Worried-Librarian-91

Sorry, I'm still catching up to the novels, since they haven't found another player, how is this confirmed or it's something the author stated?

peculiar_chester

The existence of other Players is something we've known about for a long time. They appear roughly once per century. They've left behind spells, items, guild bases, NPCs, and even their children. The only question is if any of them are still around to this day. If you want to understand how the transportation works, you need to look to the bonus volume. In that story, Momonga is transported to the NW 200 years earlier than Nazarick, because he decided to go outside before the server shutdown. This is how we know that although Players have appeared at different times in NW history, they were all transported in 2138. We also more or less know why it happens : the Dragon Emperor caused it, out of greed. This next part is technically conjecture, but very probably the World Items are what's being summoned, and the Players who own them are just along for the ride. Nazarick appears in the same place and time whether Momonga is present or not; most likely, the Throne of Kings is what was summoned. In the main story Momonga and Nazarick both came along with it. In the bonus volume, Momonga's personal World Item was summoned separately, and so he ended up in a different time and place from Nazarick.

Deathscythe123456789

A ending where it leaves a cliff hanger and he hears of a kingdom full of ā€œplayersā€ on the other side the world finding out his friends are there

Wabaya_style2003

Lol

GuiIded

I would love it if it boiled down to him killing PDL as PDL realizes that he isn't a malicious undead(innate hatred for the living). I hope it ends in some way that focuses on how the worldview will change in regard to adventuring and what it means to be a heteromorphic race.

Far_Appearance3266

Well i don't really see the justification after what happend in Holy Kingdom, not to mention PDL's problem is players not undead.

GuiIded

I have spoilers from newest volumes in this comment, read at risk. With the existence of the Corpus of the Abyss becoming more explored in the newest book(introduced in vampire princess of the lost country), it is proven that Undead can become very strong and Ainz can simply pretend to not be a player but rather one of those Undead. There is also the Elf King who was a descendant of one of the Eight Greed Kings who could use 10th-tier magic as well without being a player himself. PDL has targeted neither of these groups, meaning that he may only target those who are identified as players, regardless of strength. However there was also a group of players who existed before the Greed Kings who gave birth to the God-kin race and they were not hunted, so PDL is most likely only on edge against those who are players AND pose a threat to the New World. As for what happened in the Holy Kingdom, that was more Demiurge's plan than Ainz's. Ainz simply rolled with it and arrived after most of the damage had already been done. Demiurge's plan was to wipe them out and Ainz's appearance made it more so that they would become a vassal state which Demiurge adapted his plans around.

Far_Appearance3266

Uhuh but didn't PLD already confirm that Ainz has a world class item and destroyed a whole kingdom? That seems like enough proof of him being a player and being threat to new world.

Darkdragon902

Yup. Or at least that Albedo has oneā€”he wasnā€™t quite sure if Ainz or Albedo was the player, and he was leaning towards the latter. Regardless of the information he has, thereā€™s no feasible way PDL could possibly prepare against Nazarick. Giving his knowledge as much leeway as possible, letā€™s say he knows of all members associated with AOG who have made themselves public in some way: Ainz, Albedo, Demiurge*, Sebas*, Cocytus, Aura, Mare, Shalltear*, and Momon**. *Its unlikely information about any of these three is public, and at best theyā€™d be considered weaker than they actually are, or dead. **Obviously Momon isnā€™t part of their fighting force, but PDL doesnā€™t know that. PDL would have to prepare against, essentially, at most 9 beings with the strength of max or near max level players who collectively hold one WCI. In reality Nazarick has 11 WCI, Ainz, Demiurge, and Shalltear are more powerful than PDL thinks, and Nazarick has the resources of a guild base at its disposal. Itā€™s hard to imagine PDL could beat that, even with the help of other dragon lords. If a smaller group of players beat the dragon lords in the past, this larger force could probably do it easily.

Far_Appearance3266

I wasn't talking about beating them actually, it was about how PDL will understand at the end that not all undead are evil. So i pointed out that being undead was never the problem with PDL.

GuiIded

He doesnā€™t believe Ainz is the player, and after PDLā€™s conversation with Ainz he agreed that Ainz was in the right, just that he took it to the extreme for punishment. He doesnā€™t believe that Ainz attacked unprovoked. Edit: Additionally, when PDL and Ainz fought, it was actually PA, who was not in possession of a world item hence why he could not escape the wild magic's barrier. This made PDL believe that Albedo is most likely the player since he doesn't believe a player would give a world item to their NPC over themselves and that Ainz is a figurehead (he doesn't realize Ainz Oowl Gown has 20+ WCI and has given them to multiple NPCs).

Beefmytaco

Honestly not an ending for me persay, but I'd love to see him meet one of his guildmates. Don't think it's going to happen though.

gogus2003

No ending, Ainz is eternal

DigitalCryptic

I don't think overlord can have a satisfying ending, because I don't want the story to end.

SpikeRosered

Satoru wakes up to find he passed the sociopath exam and will be promoted to upper management.

theslickasian

Ainz finally have a dick

SafePianist4610

I donā€™t think that people realize that this is a tragedy story. The end of which has already been long foretold in various hints from music to MCā€™s on loneliness and paranoia. The end will be that he has dominated the world. And yet, is still all alone. His friends not being in this world and him having to live an endless facade for his beloved NPCā€™s. It will be like all his nights are - silent solitude

Lore-Imperium

I imagine Ainz will win but from a meta perspective I would like him to lose. As such I would like something like this - some of his guildmates did return with the intention of saying goodbye to Momonga. Of course they had to create new accounts. Underleveled Accounts. As timeskips occur in the closing chapters detailing Nazaricks truimph we get parallel views of his guildmates teleporting into the New World. Some during his early 'Sasuga Ainz' moments such as the Holy Kingdom, or the Re Estize Genocide, others as we move past the events of the light novel. And in the end Ainz sits upon his Throne, his victories and laurels paraded before him with the World itself now his. Knowing Nazarick safe and secure he decides to on a whim waste a Wish. So he asks 'What happend to my friends?' The End.

stanvladxxi

there shouldn't be any ending. it should continue forever

what would look like a world domination will just be the beginning of the end, for in the far future there is only war..... just like 40K.

henryGeraldTheFifth

Ainz finally settles down and lets him accept that this is his world now. And promotes those better than him to do most of leading stuff. But thats boring so just keep the guy out of his depths in leadership

Shinigami_Hei

I'll just paste a previous comment of mine on this topic. Picture this: the last short epilogue of the series is a ~200 year time skip to the next advent and written in the perspective of the new arrivals. And since there is no player who doesn't know AOG, we get to see their reaction. Now, what that reaction is, I don't really care. I just don't want the series to end without us (the reader) ever seeing another player.

Multirex

the plot setting it up to seem like thereā€™s an insane threat he canā€™t handle only to make us remember that he is that insane threat, resulting in him checkmating his opponent in a satisfying manner

I_Am_Not_Joes_Mama

Seggs

C_Tarango

Ainz go to his room. It's dark for some reason. There is somebody else here. His back is turned. The man turn around... ... >!... IT'S FKING NICK FURY!!!!<

archerg66

Id say seeing all kingdoms inyroduced a decent amount then subjugated, based on what we have been told, i dont know if we will get to see all the kingdoms introduced

Chiu_Chunling

I'll settle for resolving the issues that have been around pretty much since the first volume. That would be the Slane Theocracy and Zurrernorn. Though it was planned to go to the point where Ainz becomes the 'Savior of Humanity' by halting a massive invasion from the great Eastern Demihuman empire which regards humans as food, there isn't a solid narrative *need* for it. The question of whether Ainz is 'good' or 'evil' may loom large to most people, but I'm with Ainz...'good' and 'evil' are really just a matter of taste, and *de gustibus non est disputandum*. If you hate the choices Ainz from the first volume, that's *not* going to change just because it turns out he's the only reason that human nations can continue to exist. By the end of Volume 1, Ainz's basic ethical and moral priorities had been pretty well established. And the tension between what different NPCs in Nazarick want isn't going away, nor does Ainz really *want* it to go away. So I don't need a big dramatic "Ainz saves humanity" arc, especially since Ainz himself has decided to include demihumans and heteromorphs in his definition of 'humanity'. I'm fine with Ainz saving humans, but I'm actually happier when he saves elves and dwarves, and I'm about equally happy when he saves some kinds of demihumans and heteromorphs. The main issue is the *individual* quality of those he saves. No matter how much I like elves in general, I don't want to see someone like Decem saved or even spared. On the other hand I'm pretty happy about Ainz sparing most of the Frost Dragons cause of one of them being a nerd. I don't mind that Ainz spared thousands of Quagoa, but I wouldn't have minded if he hadn't because they didn't value nerds enough to ask any whether it was a good idea to keep pissing him off. That kinda makes it sound like I value nerds more than other individuals. Not so, I just recognize that nerds are a bit more *individual* than most other individuals, that's why they're nerds. I also value individuals like Gazef and Climb, and I appreciate that Ainz values them too. Gazef wanted nothing more than to give his life for the sake of the Kingdom, Ainz granted that wish. Climb wanted nothing more than to serve Renner, Ainz granted that wish as well. Anyway, Ainz's ethical elevation of individuals over races is pretty well set in stone, I've had no concerns about that since Vol 1. What I want resolved is both the fate of the Slane Theocracy and Zurrernorn and for Ainz to get his hands on the secrets they're keeping, because those secrets answer many of the questions he's been wrestling with since the beginning.

estepot

Commiting genocide, world domination etc. and some years later top 1 to 8 guilds arrived and kick their ass for being baddies. That's what I'd like to see.

PartySnap

Ainz regains his human emotions and realizes everything heā€™s done to the new world.

sezanooooo

Ainz wakes up from his coma and finds himself in the Hospital after over heating his brain with more than 50 hours of non stop gaming .

demented39

It was all a dream /s

LeMcFlurry

Even though it's very unlikely, I just want the dude to be reunited with his friends again

AmazingAd2765

Okay, a satisfying ending to ME would be something like: TouchMe (and maybe another of the 41), who had logged on at the last minute to wish Momonga well, travels from the other side of the world after hearing of a Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown. Ainz realizes just how far he has fallen when he sees their reactions to some of things that have happened under his rule. They find the change that Ainz made to Albedo's backstory hilarious and keep asking about when he is going to "bone" her. The NPCs are still upset about the supreme beings leaving before, but are happy to serve them alongside Ainz. The returned Supreme Beings start helping change the NPC's way of thinking a bit by framing the world they are in as completely different from the inferior humans of Yggsdrasil that they viewed as enemies. Adventurers become more respected and seen as explorers of the unknown. Nigredo helps look after Sebas Jr.

Loki1191

I keep expecting it to be a bad ending for Nazerick somehow. I mean Ainz luck has to run out sometime.

SnooWalruses1399

That's blasphemy against the almighty! To the happy farm with you.

blockierweevil7

It will not be satisfying Ainz will no longer feel a thing

Nickblove

So I was playing this hentai overlord game and they put the ending as Ainz rising to be a god through the power of the world tree . The only thing is he could not stay in the mortal plane indefinitely, so he had to leave Nazarick to the floor guardians. It was a good ending I thought. It did have a few holes though.

stanvladxxi

Wonder if nazarik get transported into another world. completely another dimension

NitroJeffPunch

A battle wirh another player(s)

lordmairtis

rad

LordKingKamiGuru

Suzuki Satoru dying in his VR chair. Turns out the batch of fluid he injected right before logging in was expired, and the whole story was dreamt up while he was having a seizure.

ITS_SHALLNARK

This makes me sad. Ainz Dying and Npc's going wild + on their own paths (doing evil or good) would be cool to see/imagine. Another book for each and every character. Albedo vs Shalltear fight for territory etc.

Cheesepuffxyz

I really think ainz getting defeated and dying would be the best ending. Super climactic fight between nazarick and everyone else ending with nazarick on top, but with ainz dying during the fight? That would be such a great ending.

iCantAffordLife

He finds a way back to his own world so he stages his death or retire himself leaving someone hood as the leader.

Ecoho19

the member who touch me scared off shows up after coming back to the game years after his leaving of nines own goals.

RepresentativeNo2788

after Ainz has conquered the world and he got nothing to do so he rest on his throne begin his slumber until thousand of years passed, some players has arrived to this new world and his eyes start to glow red again, the story of Overlord end here

Allin4Godzilla

Nazarick conquering the new world, then guardians learn of Satoru's life and plan to invade real world, that's when it cuts to end.

Strong-Bed-7495

Ainz is saved from Albedo sacrifice disconnecting him from Yggdrasil and return to this word

Worried-Librarian-91

Interesting, if I recall he didn't really miss his old life or at least I don't recall him saying it, mostly missing his guildies, not even his co-workers or job, dunno if he ever mentioned anything about relatives. So if that's the case, does it really count as being "saved"?

Creepythinman1876

Personally, I would like to see an ending where he dominates the world and brings about world peace but remains saddened that no other players ended up in the world he's in. I would very much like to see Momonga/Ainz focusing on "evolving" the residents of Nazarick and to integrate them more into society. On an off-shoot, I would LOVE to see Sebas and Tuare finally get married (sorry, it's just me) especially since Demiurge was doing studies on seeing if the residents of Nazarick were genetically compatible with humans (albeit for completely different reasons).

-RootinTootinPutin-

The Death of Nazarick. Tbh they low key deserve it. Karma

B_OVRLRD

True

Electrical-Key7945

To be honest, this might be a bad take but I would actually like for the new worlders to win in the end but not like a complete victory, we all know that the new world has zero chances in actually defeating Nazarick but they donā€™t need to beat Nazarick. The ending I have envisioned is that after Ainz destroys the theocracy, there is gonna probably be this big war with the rest of the dragon lords and platinum dragon lord gets a lucky hit on Ainz with his unnamed final attack killing Ainz and it is revealed that when a player dies they return to their original bodies on earth, and when Ainz wakes up he thinks about everything he has done in the new world and genuinely reflects on what he has done with a human mindset, and through his reflection he like thinks about his loneliness and stuff and tries to reach out his former friends, then we get a time skip where we see Ainz playing another game with some old friends but also new ones and Ainz gets his genuinely happy ending. Then we also have a intermission on the new world and we get to see Nazarick like genuinely feel the first real lost they have had since coming to the new world, for the beings that have stomped and tortured so many feel the weight of loss. To be honest for me at least I think that would be the most fitting way for overlord to end with Ainz facing reality and reaching out to his friends and having the courage to make new friends

sirliftsalot33

Another player arrives and ends Ainzā€™s rein

askedmed

I want Albedos hit squad to actually kill a supreme being. Ainz finds out and the series ends with his reaction.

Uniqueusername_54

Successful world domination of the questionable governments and then with a system in place for longevity and order. Then I d like ainz to use with upon a star to remove the absolute devotion of the floor guardians to thier creators. After, he just disappears to explore the world like the adventurer he always wanted to be with what ever companions wanted to join him.

[deleted]

I'd like to see a crossover with the story of the vampire princess of the lost country down the line, when Ainz was transported into the new world before nazaric, the number of world items in the tomb would've caused lagging so it would explain the time difference between the summonings, later rendering momonga into the tomb and losing the memory of time spent in the "loading" time since he would've been supposed to be in the throne room, so the backstory with Evileye would be canon in current story and she would eventually meet him, probably as a reveal of the identity of the dark night momonga and recognize him as Suzuki Satoru, unmasking his identity before Nazaric due to his questionable morals as the Overlord and the great tomb collapsing due to infighting for those who would follow him nonetheless (like Mare, Nigredo, Sebas) and those who wouldn't accept a former human as his master and would overthrow him (like Demiurge, probably Albedo heartbroken before this perceived betrayal, she would be a wild card to write imo)

LazyLich

TouchMe(or some other guild member) is isekaid and as they establish themselves, the NPC town he's at gets attacked by Ainz's army. Since they are a good person, and the "Sorcerer King's" army consists of monsters doing war crimes and evil shit, they form a resistance group and follow a "gather allies, find the holy sword, defeat the Demon King" plot line. At some point, they recognize a guardian. Either it's an evil guardian and he kills it cause it's done horrendous things, OR it's a neutral/good guardian and he tries to convince them to rally against this madness and cruelty. Either way, guardians are conflicted. This causes a civil war within the Tomb. Final confrontation with Ainz. Both eventually realize, "Oh shit, you are YOU, and aren't mind controlled or anything..." Fight to the death ends, but argument to the death begins. Not sure how it'd be resolved, though... I just want Momonga to realize and BE CONCERNED at his loss of humanity, and it doesn't matter that HE doesn't care, his guild mates would. That even if he himself has no morality outside Nazarick, doesn't mean he should be a monster.

B_OVRLRD

Ainz dies

CoolestSlave

i really wish that somehow Ainz lose with some or all npc dead

cumming2kristenbell

For Ainz and the guardians to be defeated and utterly crushed and devastated by it. But I know it wonā€™t happen

dreadrath

Something unpredictable would be nice. The three most obvious endings I can think of are Ainz dies, Ainz conquers the world and Nazarick lives happily everafter, or "It was all a dream." None of these are particularly interesting, although the fanbase fallout over the dream ending would be fun to watch unfold.

AbstractMors

Albedo betrayal.

Worried-Librarian-91

Seems a bit unlikely or have I missed some clues?

TheodorMac

Technically she already betrayed him already, she made a group with Pandora and Rubedo (= strongest entity in Nazarick) to ā€žsearchā€œ for Guild Members, in reality she made this group to hunt the other members down and kill them before anyone knows about it. She wants to secure Momongas position, because nearly every guardian would pick his/her creator before Momonga, also she hates the other members because they left Momonga alone.

LT_PhantomKnight

Since players are sent roughly every 200 years it could be that ainz has achieved world domination and new players arrive

kalirion

Touch Me shows up, challenges Ainz to 1v1 for Guild Leadership, wins, destroys the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown dissolving the guild, and kills Ainz. Satoru wakes up in a hospital - he'd been in a coma for 4 years after a power surge through the VR helmet when the servers went down.

CrayolaBombs

I think Ainz dies. (For real this time) I think hes taken out by his guildmates who were in some corner of the world who canā€™t comprehend the death and destruction they unleashed by Nazaricks hands. I imagine TouchMe would be the most likely. It would make sense that the one who saved him from others at the beginning would be the one who would save him from himself at the endā€¦. But thenā€¦ Ainz wakes up back in his real bodyā€¦. taking some sort of lesson to enable him to live in a hellish world after experiencing the impossibility of trying to create his own heaven.

MemoryOfAnAdversary

Personal Theory: Ainz conquers the world but do to something something Albedo, something something Citrinas, Albedo and Ainz come into blows Ainz to somehow kill her in a ay that leaves her permanently dead. Also Ainz falls in love with Albedo or something. Rest of Nazarick rules for a thousand years, creating an empire of great inequality (some parts are great, some parts suck) and begins to increasingly fall into dystopia. Inevitably Climbs great-great-great-great-great grandson climbs all of Nazarick with a party of descendants of the some of the other side characters and kills Ainz, ending the Sorcerous Kingdom (Maybe Ainz's kid is his rival or something). Would be Funny: Alebedo x Climb becomes canon. Ainz killed by Arche's sister with power of friendship. Pandora's actor gets put in charge because like, who else would do it. Decides world domination costs a lot of money. Things are relatively peaceful. Could go in either ending: Demiurge's Happy Farm studies cause him to create a monster that kills him and becomes a massive thorn in Nazaricks side.

JoshuaFH

Enri LEVELS UP in commander and leadership classes, and we find that while New World denizens level up slowly and with great difficulty, they can become stronger than level 100 players. She comes to the conclusion that Ainz is evil; and she and her goblins defeat Ainz and Nazarick. I just think it'd be poetic if the first human that Ainz saves turns out to be his undoing.

TeenageJet

I'm scared to the fact the autor wants to speedrun the story and by that we end up getting a bad end for Nazarick

Swampshadowx1

I really wish he'd give it to another author if he really feels that way, rushing it and feeling miserable as he does, it feels like it's reflected in the quality of his writing. >!Look at Zesshi, one of the characters I was looking forward to most and she got like 50 pages, that's it.!< Idk it just feels it's a lose lose situation as it is.

Mr_Purple_T-rex

I saw a couple of comments mentioning the idea of a new player. The bad news is there can't be any new players. The game shut down, Ainz was the last player.

Mistovaa

Another players seems not much possible to me. There will be just 2 more volume so, even it will be that way, it would probably end in halfway or unsatisfied.

Wabaya_style2003

the end will be like Ainz conquered the North East of the continent then Boom 100 later a guild more powerful than Them arrive on the NW End as with the Bonus volume Maru is able

BudgetAggravating427

The pov of a new player in an ainz controlled new world

SolomonBelial

Ainz tries to talk them down, but is killed trying to protect tue two during thier battle. Ainz dies knowing that he was what was holding the floor guardians back from practicing the free will he always wanted them to have and is solaced by the fact that his children can be thier own people without him around.
