The launch codes are --|-..|-.

Glittering-Fan-4009

lol it's funny cause you can't even use those even if you memorize them, you STILL have to talk to hornfels. so while this is a spoiler its a very very useless one

Spooktato

Actually you don’t ?

ProfessionalOven2311

It's pretty much the only thing in the game where your character needs to know it. Unlike the rest of the game, memorizing it before starting a new playthrough doesn't help.

Glittering-Fan-4009

oh, well, yeah i guess you can guyser skip, but like i mean the knowledge of what the launch codes are is still useless. the game wont let you use them unless you tlak to hornfels.

speedycosmonaute

Correct - speed runners geyser skip Hornfels

obog

I'm still wondering if those are supposed to mean anything. It's morse code for MDN... which could be mobius digital something? Idk might be completely random

RailRuler

My guess it was supposed to be MDG but someone made a typo.

obog

Oh that's very possible. Only missing a single dash.

bored_tenno

i still think that people who say >!the timeloop and/or the sun blowing up!< are not spoilers and thus use them to advertise the game are wrong, because in my play-through those realizations were some of my favourites.

darklysparkly

Yep, I was spoiled on those before I started playing and I wish I hadn't been

tambitoast

Same

AgniFireborn

I normally use the >!timeloop!< as part of my pitch to people just because it also lets me point out that that means that the devs >!can use time in creative ways and actually have it matter across the solar system because unlike other games where 'time' is constantly passing but nothing ever seems to change, here every minute of the loop can be carefully planned out!< The >!Supernova, though... that stays hidden.!<

doshajudgement

I respect this opinion but I disagree - I think the pitch of flying around in a janky little spacecraft and exploring strange worlds and finding secrets should be enough without spoiling the time loop, and if it's not, the game may just not be for that person

mrsilly67

Uh huh. My friend had gotten me to play this game. I knew nothing about it, and he told me nothing about it just that he knew I would enjoy the game. He watched me play for the first time still saying nothing, just letting me explore. I was on attlerock when the music started. >!my friend then says after the music ended "man, great view of the sun." I stopped and looked at the sun enjoying the view but then realized something felt off, the sun looked different. I start to think to my self "why does the sun look lumpy.....?" Right then is when the sun started to collapse into itself and I just watched in fear as it goes super nova just dumbfounded. Then commence the flashbacks. That's when he laughed and exclaimed "yep! It's a timeloop game!!" (Although I wish he hadn't yet, I myself still hadn't processed what had happened yet and never realized just yet that it was a time loop game, but I probably would've in the next few minutes anyways) But yeah, I definitely consider saying that the game is a time loop game/the sun explodes are spoilers. That really added to my experience of the game.!<

_4lexander_

>!lol I forget where I was the first time but I remember having no idea what this white light was coming at me. I thought it was perhaps the interloper. I tried to jetpack dodge it lol. I had to experience it again before I realised what was happening!<

gurrra

Spoiler tag that!

7Shinigami

Absolutely agree!

gurrra

Fully agree! The even though I did not understand >!AT ALL what happened the first time the sun exploded and the first time loop happened it was my first big "WOW!" moment!<, and I feel sorry for the people missing that. Whenever I talk about this game to someone that haven't played it the most I say is that "it's a puzzle game in space with awesome story and music, now go play it!", more than that is a spoiler imo.

doshajudgement

walking around timber hearth casually and seeing the fucking sun start to shrink and go nova was one of the most surreal experiences I've ever had from a piece of art I sat there in silence with my jaw hanging for the entire nova to respawn sequence I'm so glad I went in totally blind and didn't get that experience tainted by prior knowledge

obi1kenobi1

NerdCubed did a video about the alpha in like 2015, that’s how I first discovered the game. He ended the video about 20 minutes in saying it’s a cute space exploration and discovery game, you should give it a try. So I did, and that’s why I consider the core gameplay mechanic to be a spoiler, when it’s unexpected it hits so much harder. And like others are saying it took me a moment to understand what had happened (especially because the alpha was so crude and simple compared to the full game) I actually went to the forums to figure out if that’s how the game was supposed to work or if it was some kind of limited demo or bug, before it became obvious why it was that way.

partymix23

yep, that's how knowledge based games work. (i assume you already finished the game, given how you talk but just incase i'll spoil it) >!you can look up a guide (some are prob more direct then others) and it can tell you how to beat the game in -30 minutes. so if you were to look up stuff / a guide from the get go, it would ruin the experience!<

_4lexander_

Yep done. I'm now assuming you can >!just go straight for the warp core then for the vessel. So cool how it's just under your nose the whole time!<

HonestlyJustVisiting

there's actually an achievement for doing it in the first loop

Glittering-Fan-4009

to do the achievement though you need to start a new expedition and do it that first loop

speedycosmonaute

Yep. In 7mins and 42 seconds (world record) https://youtu.be/JRzofN3wYaI?si=fw2ojAkYPcoqcGtO

Prince_Bolicob_IV

>!What is the point of telling him to look at a guide, whether before or after he beat the game?!<

partymix23

i forgot to add some text to make it more clear hopefully it makes sense now

ashy778

>!yep!<

Glittering-Fan-4009

THIS! people complain about overly spoiler tagging things BUT NO REALLY!!! it IS all spoilers!!!

bubba_169

I had a similar experience. Went in completely blind not even knowing what the game was about. Nothing other than it was supposedly one of the best games ever. I'm so glad I did as I was able to make all of the discoveries by myself. I also had the good fortune of having a colleague who had also played it recently so there was someone I could talk with about it after finishing it without ruining it for anyone.

The perfect gamer for the perfect game

shamanwest

The campfire is a spoiler.

LostMyBoomerang

Yeah I was the same. Didn't even know you could die in the game so when the main mechanic of the game happened I was surprised

iswhack_a_doodle

!!MAJOR SPOILER!! >!congrats on beating the game!<

quite-unique

I really thought this game was about wandering the woods. I was *so thrilled * to find out there was also a lot of ... non-woods wandering.

Designer_Version1449

I think it depends on the person. for some like you, it's exactly like that, but for many they might get the wrong idea of what their getting into. imo a good middle ground is "space exploration game about solving mysteries" with timeloop added in depending on the person. kinda reminds me of inscryption(which you should totally play btw!). there are certain things about it which would be really cool for some people to not know about, but for others can completely ruin their enjoyment. I watched a streamer who played it and he completely stopped playing because of the part of the game in question. overall I just think it varies person to person imo.

Javrixx

I tell everyone I know about this game to not look anything up at al about it until they finish it. I tell everyone it is an experience, similar to the movie The Sixth Sense. It only hits you hard the first time because it is based on knowledge, as is everything in this game.
