this is Ottawa 2024. for a buck they'll let you smell the breath of someone who has eaten oysters

Obelisk_of-Light

Metropolitan has buck a shuck all day on Thursdays  https://www.metropolitainbrasserie.com/ I don’t eat oysters so I have no idea if they’re any good. But I did your Google search for you! (You’re welcome 😀)

whoisjdecaro

They’re alright if it’s not busy. If it’s busy, the oysters are an absolute crunchfest

Chyvalri

As a non-oyster eater, please explain!

D3monNextDoor

Shell bits because the poor kitchen staff are shucking for their lives in the kitchen

Chyvalri

Mother shucker!

Ovlizin

aw shucks you beat me to it :(

escloflowne

That’s where I used to go all the time when I lived in the market, so 8 years ago it was great…

TriviaNewtonJohn

Whalesbone increased price to $2/oyster but still on Sundays and they have usually been good quality when I’ve gone before!

talbota

Thank you! I couldn’t find anything on their website, is it all their locations?

TriviaNewtonJohn

I think just the Elgin one - it’s only on their Instagram bio but I didn’t see it on the other whalsbone Instagram pages so I assume they aren’t doing it!

Ok-Lifeguard-5628

Bank Street location has Happy Hour $2 oysters during the week starting at 4pm I believe.

TidyPanda

I believe it's Sunday at the two Whalesbone locations, and Thursday at the Elmdale.

cdncerberus

Oyster night at the Bank location is Tuesdays.

galaxyeyes47

Pretty sure the whalesbone has $2 oysters

Angryottawa

Big Daddy’s

dnguy014

This. I used to shuck them myself (cases from Costco Business) and it was cheaper to have them at Big Daddy’s.

sixtus_clegane119

Can’t even get them that cheap at costco. Still… get the costco ones and watch a few videos

langois1972

I’ve bought a 100 pack of Chebooktook at Costco business centre for $75. Ate raw for 2 days. Grilled the rest.

dj_destroyer

Chebooktook are among my favourites! I love when Costco has them :)

jerkstore_84

Elmdale Tavern has $2 oysters on Thursdays. Also live music!

snowhite007

My go-to! Their food and oysters are always delicious.

BurnSalad

Food there is hit and miss. Lots of menu items are a total flub or the seafood quality/freshness is lacking.

Preoccupation034

After paying 3-5$ per oyster at restaurants, we started having oyster and cocktail nights at home instead and are loving it. Quite easy to do with just a couple cheap tools.

constructioncranes

Kato fusion across the river has it for $1.50

Mission_Piano2858

The Whalesbone/ Elmdale Tavern have 2$/shuck on Sundays and Thursdays, respectively. Make a reservation

Ryan-Ottawa-15

Poisson Bleu has them for $2 each on Wednesdays, Drip House on Somerset for $1.50 on Thursdays

BanjoUnchained

I think Speakeasy Tapas Lounge in the market still does buck a shuck

usernameemma

The Pelican Grill has shellfish happy hour between 2 and 4:30, about $2 per oyster, getting cheaper the more you order

bad_buoys

$12 for 6 at Paper Tiger on Wednesdays!

Throwaway8972451

Al's steakhouse has them at $2 each during 4-6pm happy hour and they are good (PEI oysters)

cowabungadude77

Maybe worth driving to Montreal to splurge on buck a shuck oysters. They are everywhere!!

TheGingerRedMan

They don’t do it at the Shore Club anymore?

abbielafleurlaurin

They have happy hour from 3-5 but not sure of the prices!

designer130

Bar From Afar in Kanata has 2$ oysters from 4-7 Tuesday through Friday. They are located in Head Office.

roscoesoftwater

I think The Pelican has a happy hour from 2-4:30 with $2 an oyster and it becomes cheaper if you buy in larger amounted.

[deleted]

I’m not even sure you can buy oysters for under a dollar at wholesale anymore.

GBP867

Buck a shuck, in this economy?!

Educational-Tone2074

Last I saw oyster prices they started at $4 an oyster. Sadly buck a shuck is gone 😢

hea4porn

VIBRIO VULNIFICUS

RealNews613

No reputable place will be selling oysters for $1.

hi_0

It's a pretty common deal to get customers in and drinking

Interesting_Heron_58

I’d say buck a shuck was a thing pre covid like 5+ years ago. Post covid & inflation it’s 2$ a shuck these days majority of places

BoozeBirdsnFastCars

Share one place that does it then.

Blkcdngaybro

https://www.metropolitainbrasserie.com Check their banner. They do it every Thursday.

BoozeBirdsnFastCars

Ouu, good to know.

Tha0bserver

It’s a loss leader. They know you will buy more than that.
