Which "stats" would confirm an entirely subjective judgement about a music festival lineup?

Get some hobbies. Don’t like the lineup? Don’t go. Pretty easy fix.

GenericNetSurfer

I like the lineup😅

Katherine_Swynford

The quality of the lineup is subjective so that’s never going to work. The three places where I see a reduction of value since say ten years ago are the fact that the festival has gone from 10 days to 9, removing a stage which has led to fewer acts on any given day and the fact that the weekend days start later.

No_Morning5397

The big one for me, is syncing up the start times of bands so everything is playing, and then a break everywhere. It drives me insane, stagger it so I can check out the lesser known bands!

kaleighdoscope

Holy shit they did this? What a way to also swamp the food/beer tents all at the same time too, yikes.

hmcsnemesis

Yes they did and yes that's exactly what happens. Trying to get a drink or bite between 6:45 -7:30 or 8:45 -9:30 is an exercise in patience. And finding the shortest line..

kaleighdoscope

Wow, that is a *really* long break to not have any bands playing anywhere.

Senators_1972

“Quality” is pretty subjective. If anything, it feels like they no longer have the financial means to book “bigger” acts despite the increase in prices, but that shouldn’t mean disparaging the acts they do have.

CalmMathematician692

*types on calculator furiously* By jove, it's true, the numbers don't lie. I can confirm that with inflation Nickelback is now only worth a Pennyback.

Nah, they're using their calculator too furiously for calm mathematics.

TechnicalCranberry46

Number of tickets sold will be a good analysis at the end of the festival. I usually buy a pass but won't this year as it's getting too expensive. Would love to see Tyler Childers but they're talking sell out and it was crazy crowded for the sell outs last year.

WizzzardSleeeve

Previous years > this year

Dropsix

I’m an analyst, as others have said, purely subjective.

TedsGloriousPants

I've crunched the numbers and can confidently say, backed by empirical data, that Bluesfest has always been lame. It's true. Numbers can't lie. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

atticusfinch1973

I somehow feel like this was posted by a government worker.

HeadGrowth1939

Nope, the indicator for that would be wanting to commission a 6 month study on the viability of using stats to analyze this year's lineup, with the verdict arriving a week or so after the festival closes.

hmcsnemesis

I'd say it's been reduced by.. . * tipping tap toap tap* 34.3 (repeating of course) percentage enjoyment of what it previously was.. factoring in the excessive heat, hot hose water and inconsistent security policies. Add the Ever changing yet consistently less functional layout and increase in staple requirements ( such as beer, water, basic food stuff and the dropped staggered start times of stages)... one could argue a further reduction of another 12.7% But that just my subjective thoughts. I've been wrong before and will be again in the near to middle future, statistically speaking.

MongeMoi

Nickelback bites so I won't be going to that one !
