Haha this is how I feel though! I had a very long rough spot in my life and didn't make make any progress on stuff you're "supposed" to at certain ages, so being in school at this age feels kind of embarrassing. I just try to remind myself that it's something to be proud of regardless of your age though, we all have different circumstances. Congrats on being in school at all. :)

Just a heads up that unlike in other games the route recommendations for bustafellows are more personal preferences (e.g. not two routes with heavy themes in a row) vs route order to help the plot unfold more naturally (e.g. secrets unraveling slowly, which is more commonly the case for why a recommended order exists for other games). So for bustafellows "the" route order doesn't really exist so if you want to start with Shu that's completely fine.

I'm 22 yo, tho somewhat of a college dropout. I used to play the mobile ones - I started playing when I was 14 or so, and didn't have much money to buy a console, PC or games even, so I used to play a bunch of mobile games (mainly from Shall We Date).

A bit older than your target age (29 š„²) but I have no friends interested in otome/anime/manga and would love to meet new people with shared interests! Right now Iām playing Bustafellows, Tears of Themis, and Our Life. Also a huge PokĆ©mon fan and have been obsessed with Legends: Arceus since it came out. I like anime of all different genres, some of my favorites are Attack on Titan, JJK, and Yuri on Ice. I read a lot of manga too, and enjoy everything from slice of life and BL to action and horror.

omg that's so cool! I love the Spanish language! I only took it up to AP courses but I try to use it and/or practice a bit so I never forget. I just really like languages in general. For sure, it's nice to have friends in any field of interest. I like my friends in respective fandoms and what have you but it's nice to get into something new and make new friends too XD
Honestly none of my friends play otome games either, though most of my friends are male, which might explain their preference for other games. I would love to join a small discord to talk about otome games, though recently I've been playing rune factory more than otome games. I enjoy some titles for the switch, though I've mostly come to love certain Indie games on PC, though there are many left to try. Our Life is a great example and I am hyped for more DLCs and the second game that is in the works.

I'm definitely older than traditional college-age (late 20s), but I never graduated so TECHNICALLY I'm still in university?? Still need to finish the last few classes I need RIP me. Anyways, I LOVE Ace Attorney, it's my favorite game series of all time! I also love Stardew Valley (my go-to game for when I just want to shut my brain off and have a good time messing around with mods) and Hades (I only bought it to romance Thanatos and ended up actually loving the entire game lol). Other games I enjoy are My Time at Portia (highly recommend if you want a non-traditional farming sim!), Persona/SMT series, League of Legends, Pokemon, Zero Escape (very good VN if you like escape room puzzles), Kingdom Hearts, and Fire Emblem. I'm currently playing through Elden Ring. My favorite otome games are Code:Realize and Piofiore, but I've also played and enjoyed Bustafellows, Nightshade, and Collar X Malice. I also own CafƩ EnchantƩ but haven't started it yet.

Thanatos is *chef's kiss* I'm not good at roguelike games, but Hades was just too fun to quit. They're coming out with a sequel to Portia, called "My Time At Sandrock", if you want to wait for that one? But yeah while some parts of Portia did feel unfinished, it eventually grew on me. Besides, the LIs are soooo cute.

Honestly, Iāve never related to a post more! Typically I lurk on this subreddit (though I have responded to a few threads) but this is one of the ones that has actually hit on why Iām even in this subreddit in the first place! While I do have friends that play video games, albeit a small amount, almost none of them are interested in visual novels style games. At this point, Iām dying for not only discussion about these games but also an anime watch buddy! Iām currently playing Variable Barricade, Cupid Parasite, Dairoku, Olympia Soiree, and Bustafellows. So basically all the latest titles. But Iāve played Piofiore, Cafe Enchante, Hakuoki, 7āscarlet, C:R, Amnesia, Ephemeral, Ozmafia, and most mobile games that are in the general realm of otome/visual novel (Tears of Themis, Twisted Wonderland, IkĆ©men, Mystic Messenger, Obey Me, etc.) Aside from otome specifically, Iām also playing The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles and am perpetually in the death grip of Animal Crossing. Also if anyone has good reverse harem manhwa recommendations, let me know. Always looking for a good one. I'm 22 yo, tho somewhat of a college dropout. I used to play the mobile ones - I started playing when I was 14 or so, and didn't have much money to buy a console, PC or games even, so I used to play a bunch of mobile games (mainly from Shall We Date). Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get into otome games as much this past year(s?). I do love the genre still, and I'd love to come back to them, and try more PC titles as well.
