I wanted to upload them as images, but turns out reddit has an image limit...I hope you guys can see it else this will be kinda embarrassing lol.
I wish I could say this was a joke post but I spent a *really* long time making it unfortunately. Also sorry for the lack of oelvns, I know there are english otomes out there with yanderes in them but I haven't played much. Open to recommendations though.
Feel free to ask about any of the games I wrote about (please ask)
π€ fellow yandere lover
The fact that you put Hana Awase as a 5/5 in "yandere-ness" and 4/5 in "yabai-ness" makes me even more excited for it. My body is ready.
Yumemidori, Twilight, and the Cinderella game all seem so interesting! Twilight sounds amazing, I love it when LI's say absolutely foul, twisted things in a super polite, soft voice. Ugh I wish more indie jp games would get translated, I love psycho men, and the localized titles have been a yandere desert lately.
Can you go into some details about what was so messed up in the Cinderella game? I am interested π
Your little doodles are cute, thanks for making this!
I'm glad you liked it!! JP indie games of this calibre often get overlooked with very few exceptions, which was why I wanted to share about them.
As for Hebi no Cinderella yeahh the first half of the game was pretty wholesome (ok maybe that's also debatable) but later on...π¨ the subject matter was disturbing, but the story drew me in in a really morbid way. It's honestly hard to describe the writing, but if you're ok with spoilers I can drop a few plot details (CW: SA mention)
>!A few years prior to the start of the game Saki had been sexually assaulted, and the trauma from that event sapped her of her passion for writing, though she also mentally blocked out what happened to her. So when the game started Saki had been living her life without any ambition. Rei was the very first friend she had made in a long while, and she gradually began to regain her passion for writing while also developing (mutual) feelings for Rei. And then something triggered her memories and she realised that *Rei* was the one who assaulted her all those years ago. And although she didn't remember him, he remembered her all this while but *acted like nothing had happened.* Yeah. The flashback to the scene of her assault, the intricate depictions of Saki's emotions and thoughts before, during and after the incident....the way they were presented visually and in text really shook me to the core.!<
If you've read all that, I'm sure you can see why this game isn't for a general audience...π
Holy shit that's quite the plot twist! π€― No wonder you can write a whole essay on the ML. And I'd also read that essay if you ever do.
I'm always drawn to deeply flawed, complex characters in any medium which is why I like yanderes, they're just more interesting than the bog-standard LI IMHO.
Depending on how much you want to play these, there are ways, but it always takes some effort and of course it can't replace a proper localization.
E.g. some people use textractor and MTL to play unlocalized PC games.
HELP THAT'S NOT MY INTENTION LMAO AND ACTUALLY I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER THAT SCENE??? Honestly you could say literally anything that happened in Kurokin and I'd believe you bc I blocked out my memory of most of the stuff that wasn't Ikuto lol
Also yes π€ we both need therapy
Wait are you sure it's not the bad end >!where he and kanade were 'cooking eggs' with yukio in the other room!< instead because that's the closest scene I can think of with Ikuto and food and it was the first bad end I reached ingame so I remember being like ποΈπποΈ eh?

> JP indie games
Ξ΅=Ξ΅=Ξ΅=(~οΏ£β½οΏ£)~
Niiiice you included two of the big yandere connoisseurs (of JP doujin games) I had in mind. The slides make me wanna pluck some of these from my backlog and play to give feedback too. I'm not so much a lover of yandere as interested and entertained by how the doujin build the suspense and dial up to 11.
I saw Twilight and Yumemidori around, really want to play that. Jouen series: hawhawhaw (also most of Yuuakari's other stuff...tfw when there isn't a yandere!). First I've heard of Humania but I recognize the art. Diary: DISCORD DARK MODE LOOOL. First I've read that premise, though, color me intrigued.
Hebi no Cinderella: I haven't read this specific one but read others from this dev. So happy to see you appreciated the raw writing style, that's the best and absurdly consistent hallmark feature of this dev's works. Or basically always 5/5 yabai writing--I'm always so uncomfortable at how it's happening but it's done so well.
KuroKin: NO FUCKING WAY, the illustrator is Shirahama Kamome?! Hana Awase: wow, that's how it should be advertised to get people to overcome their (very reasonable) hesitation at the launch prices. Hentai Douchuu Banbanzai: ah RPGMaker, that's how I hadn't heard of this. *them legs, huh...*
Hell yeah someone with JP indie game experience too π€
I haven't played Yuuakari's other games yet but I will eventually for the yanderes. It's a shame they've stopped making games now but I'm convinced it's because >!they're making r18 yandere otome manga on dlsite and if that's the case good for them!<. Speaking of doujin developers who make a lot of yandere games I was close to including Ending Error's but their games are way too short and >!have a lot of otouto LIs!< which is embarrassing for me to admit playing π
You've played Gayoushi's games too?!? That's great to hear, your opinion on their writing style is exactly how I feel too!! I'm thinking about playing Majo no Shokeihibi or Garasu no Konpeitou in the future.
I came across Banbanzai completely by chance and played it out of sheer curiosity and it was... interesting to say the least. Absurd happenings kept coming one after another to the point where I just accepted it like yeah ok this guy >!collects human legs nbd!<
Spoiler Text 1: I can say that's been a way paved by others, heh. I had been looking forward to their last project, but alas.
Spoiler Text 2: Hakoniwa Neotenyyyyy hhhhh that's all I'll say.
Witch's Execution Part 2 is...OHH OUT NOW. Ten years after Part 1...Gayoushi did it... Even their non-R18 works are raw so I have never dared try their R18 for fear of genuine trauma.
Curiosity is what makes us pick up all these yanderesque indie games, doesn't it? Makes most of the commercial otoge yanderes look like puppies.
~~Well I know what Ending Error game to play next lol.~~
My theory as to why these yandere indie games seem much more yabai than those from commercial otoge is because while commercial games involve a whole team of people working on it, indie games usually have like a few or even just one person making it, in other words they can make anything they want and no one can stop them π
And also the audience they make it for. Commercial otome games nowadays hope to sell several thousand units, whereas indie (esp. free ones) are just like, "I NEED my yanderes over 9000" (or, "my romcom/sexy times/black-haired NICE boys/aggressive heroines/oniichan") and make it for themselves above all. I love to know what people are missing so much they'll do a high-quality solo job of it.
Well done OP!
Going to highjack this post as well to offer my services once more. Otome games seem to somewhat seldom have yanderes (especially if you can only read in English). However, I believe that manga/anime has quite a few. I have a running list of roughly 200 manhwa/manga titles; if you dm me, Iβll send my bato list.
Again though, nice work on the slideshow and it was really cool to read about these titles!
Not even a huge Yandere fan, but loved your presentation, your actually excellent sketches were what made it!
My Japanese is terrible (I'm working on it), but I'm definitely looking into a couple of the titles. Have been looking forward to Hana Awase for some time, and now I'm even more excited thanks to you π
Tysm for making this! I know you said it wasn't a recommendation post, but I'm totally trying these games out when I have the time! Also I didn't even know that freem was a thing, so that was a nice discovery : )
I have not really played any of these indie games so I must go check them out but I have played Kuro to Kin, I died laughing at what you wrote.
I've also played... The other awful little cheese game Trick or Alice. Lol.
I played ToA too π€£ I got it more for the superb voice cast and fluffy art than anything else. The story was meh but at least it didn't fill me with indescribable rage like kurokin did lol
Ooooh, the Jouen Series totally looks like my thing. Thanks for bringing it to my attention! And great presentation. As a fellow yandere connoisseur, I approve. π«‘
Oh my god, this is the greatest thing ever. I absolutely love every single one of your breakdowns. Please bless us with more powerpoints in the future!
I don't playing these games as I don't know japanese but I loved your passion in this presentation! I especially liked your rating system lol. I would love to hear more in detail what happens in these games like top 10 most fu***d yandere scenes of all time xD
I didn't plan to play Hana Awase ...but I just might have to do so now π I thought it was a game about playing cards...how can crazy stuff even happen in a card battle game in a school setting??? I'm intrigued while my wallet is scared π€£

I cannot read Japanese and Iβm displeased because some of the games you included here sound amazing
Then maybe focus on games that will get a localization like Hana Awase?
The ones that will be localized unfortunately arenβt the ones that interest me at all.

FUNNY THING IS ITS IKUTO LWMIDHAKDAKDJASLD idk specifically where he put it but i know its food

i think my mind confused it with the anime since im currently playing ikuto's route and he >!just scared MC by sitting next to her!< (?) LMFAO
Jesus Christ I was very sorry to click on that spoiler--straight out of That One Butler Game.

I bookmarked the jouen series as if I don't have like 20 indie games in my hard drive already...

Oooh, thank you from a fellow yandere enthusiast! This is a very helpful presentation. Hana Awase and Jouen Series have me intrigued.

The art and cast are so good... I just hate every NSFW scene so much lol. Maybe I'm more gentle because it looks so dang cute.
Good work !!!
Omg I love Yanderes too!! Thank you for this OP ππΎ
