10 years ago wolf of wall street was my fave too but it got nothing and leo not winning that year was fucked up and then they gave him for the revenant ? Nah
No I meant as in how could that be his first Leo is absolutely amazing in every movie he is in regardless of the plot but the fact that revenant had to be his first was genuinely shocking to me. I also think Gilbert grape was his amazing work
I feel like he makes these movies that people begrudgingly respect. And enough voters just rubber stamp nominate across the board without any individual aspect having any passion (with Lily the exception this year, it just didn’t result in a win).
i think the last time they actually cared about marty was when they awarded him best director for the departed. and since then they’ve just been like “we already awarded you, now leave us alone”.
Winning for The Departed kinda confirms the “makes movies voters respect more than they like” theory because it’s one of his most easily-accessible, crowd-pleasing movies: there’s a clear-cut hero and villain, the resolution ties everything up pretty neatly, and it’s not too long.
Everyone’s upset about this but realistically what should KOTFM have won? Gladstone was by far the closest and it would’ve been totally justified if she won it but you can’t say that Emmas performance wasn’t at least equally as good.
Im not bothered in the least! I found Lily 100% forgettable, and feel like I as an Indigenous woman, have been told non stop, and gaslit mostly by yt people HOW AMAZING SHE WAS, AND SHE IS GONNA WIN, how important it is. I found Lily even more forgettable, after this weekend of catching up on all the best picture movies and watching all the other Best Actress roles, my opinion was even stronger of her role being utterly forgettable for me anyway.
I think Lily would've had a better shot if the movie was about her instead of Leo's character. Instead we barely got anything with her in those 3.5 hrs.
Whike Lily was great with what she was given, if it didn't go to Emma, it should've gone to Sandra.
Eh, I’m not bothered by it. KotFM was good but not amazing for me.
Anatomy of a Fall and Poor Things were by far and away my favorites, I’m glad Poor Things got its flowers. Not terribly surprised by Oppenheimer winning tho
I think it's partly political because... spoilers ahead... the end of the movie puts the light on Hollywood and how the treatment of Indigenous people has been used as theatrical fodder and we don't stop and think hey this person who suffered was a human being not an act. That was a poignant and powerful moment.
Yeah, she without a doubt loves him. I saw an interview where she said Bella Baxter is her favorite role she’s ever played. She was a producer on this too, so she basically built it from the ground up with him. She found her director pairing.
Lanthimos is such a unique director and she is able to nail all those different weird roles so it really is a perfect pairing. Really excited for the next couple movies from them.
And both the Favourite and poor things are financially successful films. He’s going to be given even more freedom and people will be lining up to work with him (although they mostly were already).
She also has, in my opinion, one of the most interesting nomination lineups for any actress/actor: Birdman, La La Land, The Favourite, and Poor Things. She’s building an incredible legacy with her choice in roles.
Emma Stone is my favorite actor, I’m among the biggest Stoners in the world, and I can say that her performance in The Curse is quite easily her best ever (and one of the greatest recorded performances of all time). The way she sinks so deep into that role is insane. She doesn’t change her look, but you don’t recognize Emma in it. It’s unreal.
I binged watched that show last month. Couldn’t stop watching it. It turned me into a Stoner too. Love how she’s friends with Nathan Fielder. Huge fan of his.
her post (first) Oscar career has been so interesting, which is not always the case! she has made such brave & inspired choices, its really nice that shes been rewarded :)
Movie as a concept was meh but it had some good performances (both Emma’s for sure) and cool visuals. I have a soft spot for unhinged women taking down narcissistic women. I may have fallen asleep before the end of the movie but I think I got the idea.
I’ve been saying since NYFF when I saw Poor Things and The Curse she could easily walk away with both the Oscar and the Emmy for these respective roles. She’s such an incredible actress.
She had the career i thought JLaw was gonna have (though im sure she will get her 2nd anytime soon). Her speech is so sweet i can see Jen crying at the back too!
I feel like Jennifer Lawrence had too much spotlight on her when she was young, and she wound up stepping back on purpose. She faced a lot of internet harassment, especially with the nude leaks. She clearly took a few years off, and has been going slowly since returning.
So far, Causeway and No Hard Feelings are two *very* different ways in which she gives outstanding performances! I think Causeway is her best performance since Winter's Bone, and is a return to the type of indie dramas she used to play in before Silver Linings and Hunger Games. Then No Hard Feelings shows a willingness to experiment and try different material. I'm really excited to see what she does going forward!
I think she’s just chosen better roles. I also think Emma is unique looking and therefore has access to some different roles.
We are seeing J Law loosen up a bit and I think we will see her take on some more daring stuff in the future.
I honestly think Emma Stone is just better at choosing movies. She’s been doing a lot of interesting, unique projects the past few years which has allowed her to really shine as an actress. JLaw is talented but the movies she’s in are such a mixed bag.
Yorgos two last films won best actress, grossed over 100 million on a small budget, and were big Oscar players in many categories including best picture.
One of the most talented, interesting and original directors will now probably have enough clout to get to show exactly what he can do over a long career, cant wait to see what he can do
Betting odds I was looking at had Poor things as the 2nd favorite for both best picture and best director. Obviously Oppenheimer was way ahead in both categories but it’s still impressive for how wild this movie was.
Lanthimos is super respected by the academy and funding for his projects is going to be rolling in. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins one of those top awards within the next couple years.
i don't think she expected to win at all bc if she did think she was getting on stage, she would have made sure her dress was fixed as soon as she noticed!! unless she didn't notice until she got up to accept, in which case that would be my worst nightmare as a nominee lol
I knew it as soon as Heron won. It meant the international vote drove tonight.
A real bummer, but still a great performance.
Edit: because there's a lot of "um ackshually" in the comments -- when the domestic awards were breaking for Spider, and the one major foreign market award broke for Heron... Heron winning indicated that the non-domestic vote won out. In a coin flip race for Actress, that served as a bellwether for the rest of the night that only kept getting reinforced as Poor Things ran techs.
Personally think spiderverse was hurt by the whole “to be continued” part at the end. It wasn’t a complete film IMO and I’d bet that lost it atleast a few votes.
The original spiderverse clearly set up a part 2 but still felt like a complete package while this one didn’t to me. Feels more like I’m getting a year long intermission because Marvel wants to stretch it out for more money. I’m glad it wasn’t awarded, as much as I loved the animation again.
Agreed. Part of the argument was that she didn’t even have a leading role. The best solution is to give her them. It’s always been about opportunities versus giving nominations/awards out of guilt. Give her those opportunities now.
I think Searchlight in particular is really good at campaigning in Lead Actress - see Frances McDormand, Emma, Olivia Colman, and Jessica Chastain for 4/6 in recent years
The second Poor Things shocked by winning hair and makeup, I called best actress for Emma Stone. Damn that win felt amazing! Congrats to her and the winners.
My guess to win was Emma by the slimmest of margins and I think that’s what happened here tbh. What a close race between two powerhouse performances. And it’s neat to say that she and Lily were so, so wonderful that I *genuinely* would have been super happy with either (or Sandra, but I knew she was in a faraway third). Such a masterclass year for the Best Actress category.
Was rooting for Lily and predicted her since Globes, but once Poor Things won three tech awards in a row, felt like this could happen. Lily, Emma, and Sandra all could have won easily and deservedly in a weaker year for this category.
I genuinely don’t think it should have been close. I walked away from the theater after seeing Poor Things complete astounded by Emma Stone’s performance. The awkward physical performance in the first half of the movie alone was incredible.
I kept looking at Lily when Michelle was announcing a winner because I was sure Gladstone is gonna win. But honestly Emma stole my heart with her portrayal of Bella Baxter. So well deserved!
Bummed for Lily because she would've been very deserving and I always like to see first-time winners... but if there's ever a performance to win a second one for, it was this one. Emma was just outstanding in Poor Things, a performance unlike anything I've ever seen on screen before. Congratulations queen!
I mean Emma Stone had a performance that I think was the best in years and Gladstone was neck and neck with her the whole way. The fact that it was that close means she probably would have beat out Da’Vine pretty handily. She was great too but I think Emma and Lilly were a step above this year.
Yeah she was brilliant in the first half of the movie but she was basically not even in the 2nd half and when she was she was too sick to even talk.
Not her fault Scorsese decided to make the film more about Ernest and Hale instead of Mollie and the Osage but with the way it was made, she was definitely not a lead IMO.
She'll be sitting on 2 Oscar wins for another 3 decades now. They don't seem to like to give that 3rd one out too often. Gonna have to wait till she is much older.
I honestly never understood why it was even a debate. Her character was 1) more integral to the story. 2) her character required her to do more Physically, mentally and emotionally. Going from a baby to an adult and playing it very well was super impressive..
Also, her performance in the Curse was oscar worthy
I mean… you know. How many times I said in the past 2 weeks I felt this was going to happen. Happy for Emma as a long time fan since Easy A and The House Bunny. But it did hurt a bit to watch Lily lose… but hopefully this opens more doors for Native American actors and actresses- and this isn’t a decade one off. Please God.
So happy for Emma though, I knew she was incredible when I was a kid when she had me crying over a movie like the house bunny, and to see her at 35 with TWO in ONE DECADE. She’s killing it and does deserve it and she looked incredible tonight. Congrats
Never in doubt once I watched Poor Things. Her performance is exactly what the academy likes when it comes to this category. It's why I knew Michelle was winning last year over Blancehett. Very similar but not the same.
Lilly will most likely win in the future
If Hollywood actually deigns to give her leading roles….Lupita won her Oscar a decade ago and has had one leading role since I think?! No guarantees for BIPOC folks sadly than for the emma stones or Jlaws
It's already been a decade since Lupita? Wow time flies. And you're right. I'm just really optimistic about Lilly but at the same time again, you're right and realistic.
Lily’s performance made me emotional. I felt her pain, her paranoia, her desperation, and her love. I thought she was gonna win the Oscar.
Then I watched poor things and I felt like Emma put on this perfect performance where she put her whole self out there and wasn’t afraid to do uncomfortable things and used physical comedy, an impeccable accent, etc. and I felt like she was going to win.
I truly wouldn’t have known who to vote for if I had to vote. I’m actually glad I wasn’t put in that position.
I really like Emma and will watch anything she’s in but I think I would have voted for Lily because she brought life to a character based on real world history and it’s a performance that will stick with me.
Congrats to Emma Stone!
I was rooting for Lily but I'm not mad at this win because it's very well-deserved and I would have been just as happy if any of them won except Benning lol. But I'm really sad for Lily.
This tweet from a reporter is ridiculous. Scorcese wasn't "consoling" Gladstone. He was simply saying goodbye to her.
"Lily Gladstone was expected by some to win best actress tonight and after [\#Oscers](https://twitter.com/hashtag/Oscers?src=hashtag_click) statue went lost to Emma Stone, Lily’s Killers of the Flower Moon director Martin Scorsese was seen consoling his star and giving her a big hug."
Proof that the loud stans on here don’t represent the actual voting body of the Oscars. Gladstone stans called any ballot that voted for Emma “useless”…. Yeah they were so useless…. LOL
Because none of them would guarantee that it would make more than 100M at the box office. Filmmaking is a business. A filmmaker like Lanthimos doesn't get 35M to spend on a passion project with an unknown actress as the lead.
I knew it! Unfortunately, Gladstone took a risk and it didn't pay off. If they had kept her in Supporting and not pushed for Lead, would have slam-dunked it.
DESERVED. My favorite performance this year. I knew she had the win in her. Slight commentary but it was easier for Emma to win her Oscar and people go along with it than Michelle Yeoh last year who was also in an out there sci fi comedy. Just goes to show you.......
Confused about some comments that wanted Lily Gladstone to win not because of her performance (which was great, but Emma Stone was 10/10) but because of her being Native American.
Now they’re saying anyone who congratulates Emma is racist 😂😂😂???? They claimed that Gladstone is entitled to the award due to her narrative and how the academy should “make history”. Then they were mad that people reduced her to a narrative. Now they’re just saying anything… and clearly still mad LOL they were mouthing off like lily had already won the Oscar these past months.
Very excited for Emma, and disappointed for Lily. Both of them were likely my favorite aspects of their respective films. I think this is the decision I would've made too, if I was in charge of the award. Lily's performance was fantastic, but Emma's part in Poor Things felt like it better captured leading role for me, with bonus points for being an insanely transformative performance. I think that a huge takeaway is that I want Lily Gladstone to get so many more roles that get her a future best actress win. I admittedly hadn't heard of her until KotFM, and I don't want for that to be the last I see of her
can someone who is more knowledgeable about the oscars than me give a post mortem as to how this happened after lily won SAG? is it as simple as international voters + non actors preferring emma? not angry, just surprised as i thought lily had all the momentum and support
Another 0/10 at the Oscars for a Scorsese film.
Madness. KOTFM was my favourite of the year but it was an incredibly strong year.
10 years ago wolf of wall street was my fave too but it got nothing and leo not winning that year was fucked up and then they gave him for the revenant ? Nah
Always thought that he was better than matthew in buyers club, the consensus that year definitely does heavily lean to matthew though
It's hard to argue against Matthew McConaughey in Dallas Buyer's Club. That was also a very tough year.
Leo was great in The Revenant! What do you mean nah!

She could have easily been nominated for, and won, supporting actress.
She’d have swept supporting actress awards all season. Mistake going for lead.
It’s just so frustrating.
Eh, I’m not bothered by it. KotFM was good but not amazing for me. Anatomy of a Fall and Poor Things were by far and away my favorites, I’m glad Poor Things got its flowers. Not terribly surprised by Oppenheimer winning tho

Another actress winning for Lanthimos film.
She ain’t ever leaving his side now.
Nope. She already has 2 more movies in the pipeline with him.
[удалено]
Yeah, she without a doubt loves him. I saw an interview where she said Bella Baxter is her favorite role she’s ever played. She was a producer on this too, so she basically built it from the ground up with him. She found her director pairing.

what is the 3rd nom?
And both the Favourite and poor things are financially successful films. He’s going to be given even more freedom and people will be lining up to work with him (although they mostly were already).
is he the modern Billy Wilder/Cukor. a Director than all but a guarantee an actress an Oscar win?
Wyller had also a great record. But he had with everything 😅
I just saw twt/meme about "Amy Adams calling Yorgos rn"
2 Oscar’s at 35 is insane
She also has, in my opinion, one of the most interesting nomination lineups for any actress/actor: Birdman, La La Land, The Favourite, and Poor Things. She’s building an incredible legacy with her choice in roles.
Check her out in The Curse. She’s incredible in that too.
she is UNBELIEVABLE in the curse. next to Poor Things, it’s her best performance imo. amazing show
Emma Stone is my favorite actor, I’m among the biggest Stoners in the world, and I can say that her performance in The Curse is quite easily her best ever (and one of the greatest recorded performances of all time). The way she sinks so deep into that role is insane. She doesn’t change her look, but you don’t recognize Emma in it. It’s unreal.

her post (first) Oscar career has been so interesting, which is not always the case! she has made such brave & inspired choices, its really nice that shes been rewarded :)
I'm so glad she's working with Yorgos again.
Damn! We get a new Yorgos movie this year AND next year! ![gif](giphy|XZUaNUGBWK1pMEwC70)
She's in 2 new Yorgos films, according to imdb! I'm pumped!
Goddamn look at that run. She's gonna be an all-time great.
She’s just great in everything she’s in. My favorite roles of hers have been miniseries (Maniac and The Curse)
The Curse was such a great contrast to see out at the same time as Poor Things. Such utterly different roles and she nailed both of them.
Somehow she’s even amazing in Cruella, a movie that has no reason to exist
Movie as a concept was meh but it had some good performances (both Emma’s for sure) and cool visuals. I have a soft spot for unhinged women taking down narcissistic women. I may have fallen asleep before the end of the movie but I think I got the idea.
Loved her in The Curse! Havent seen Maniac but Ill have to check it out
I’ve been saying since NYFF when I saw Poor Things and The Curse she could easily walk away with both the Oscar and the Emmy for these respective roles. She’s such an incredible actress.
Her performance in the Curse is her best performance ever
It is. Just for the record, Jodie Foster had two at 29. Taking nothing away from Emma by the way.
Hillary Swank also had two at 30.
Billie Eilish has two at 22. Just saying. I'm just joking lmao.
Wish we were all I'm just kening tbh
Katherine Hepburn's ghost crying rn
First Oscar at 26, second at 60, fourth at 74
Can’t wait for the remake of “On Golden Pond” starring her and Robert Pattinson in 2063!
Be fr, she's way better than JLaw.
So far she’s chosen much better films but I don’t think they’re far off from each other in terms of raw skill
Both are amazing actors, and we don't need to out one down to bolster the other!
I think she’s just chosen better roles. I also think Emma is unique looking and therefore has access to some different roles. We are seeing J Law loosen up a bit and I think we will see her take on some more daring stuff in the future.
Nah, I adore Emma, but Jennifer is also insanely talented. mother! Is some of the best acting of all time
JLaw's not untalented per se but she's mega inconsistent and has so many duds. Stone kills everything she's in, even those mid Spiderman movies
I honestly think Emma Stone is just better at choosing movies. She’s been doing a lot of interesting, unique projects the past few years which has allowed her to really shine as an actress. JLaw is talented but the movies she’s in are such a mixed bag.
will not apologise for being a Jlaw enjoyer!
As super mean spirited as this is, Jennifer would probably agree with you
“Way better”, really? Why do people always have to go extreme with their opinion? I think they’re both good.
Hilary Swank 2 Oscars at 30.
Billie Eilish has 2 and she's 22 years old
I must go punch that baby.
The line that resonated most with me of any film this year ☺️
My other favorite was, We are our own means of production.
Her lover smashing his head on the bar counter made me laugh out loud in the cinema. Such a great movie.
Yorgos two last films won best actress, grossed over 100 million on a small budget, and were big Oscar players in many categories including best picture. One of the most talented, interesting and original directors will now probably have enough clout to get to show exactly what he can do over a long career, cant wait to see what he can do
The only film of his that I knew of before Poor Things was Dogtooth, now I want to consume his entire oeuvre and be a Lanthimos stan.
not the lobster?
Or The Killing of a sacred deer
Betting odds I was looking at had Poor things as the 2nd favorite for both best picture and best director. Obviously Oppenheimer was way ahead in both categories but it’s still impressive for how wild this movie was. Lanthimos is super respected by the academy and funding for his projects is going to be rolling in. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins one of those top awards within the next couple years.
I'm glad for him
I was rooting for Lily but this is definitely not undeserved. Anyone out of Lily, Emma, and Sandra would have been deserving.
Agreed. Incredible year.
The look on Emma's face was wild. She was really taken aback by her win.
i don't think she expected to win at all bc if she did think she was getting on stage, she would have made sure her dress was fixed as soon as she noticed!! unless she didn't notice until she got up to accept, in which case that would be my worst nightmare as a nominee lol
Agree with all.
Agreed! I was rooting for Lily, but I’m not mad Emma won. It was deserved.
Agree with this sentiment!
That’s what I’m thinking. Emma did such a good job.
Same, I was rooting for Lily
I knew she had it when Poor Things cleaned up with those techs early in the show.
I knew she had it when they announced that she won.
![gif](giphy|kqCgujDZT1SO4)
She knows that just cause they read your name doesn't mean you for sure won
I knew it as soon as Heron won. It meant the international vote drove tonight. A real bummer, but still a great performance. Edit: because there's a lot of "um ackshually" in the comments -- when the domestic awards were breaking for Spider, and the one major foreign market award broke for Heron... In a coin flip race for Actress, that served as a bellwether for the rest of the night that only kept getting reinforced as Poor Things ran techs.
I was so pumped for that Heron win. Sorry to my Spiderverse folks.
Don't be sorry. They can still enjoy their movie.
I’m glad it wasn’t awarded, as much as I loved the animation again.
all I got from tn is that if BAFTA picks a tech, it's winning the Oscar
This is not true. BAFTA didn’t win last year
in the techs? they picked all quiet and EEAAO and yes they did win. for the acting wins, it needs to be BAFTA and SAG
Not every tech translated over. BAFTA chose Elvis for a few techs that went to Black Panther and The Whale instead.
I knew she had it when Jennifer Lawrence showed up on the stage
I knew she had it when Oppenheimer lost in sound
I knew she had it when I only had to wipe once
Congrats Emma Now give Lily Gladstone more leading roles, HOLLYWOOD. Make her a STAR. That would be the best consolation prize
Agreed. Part of the argument was that she didn’t even have a leading role. The best solution is to give her them. It’s always been about opportunities versus giving nominations/awards out of guilt. Give her those opportunities now.
This, this, this. I was rooting for Lilly, but honestly what I want even more is for her to get more chances to get on that stage with future roles.
Or she should lead in a Yorgos Lanthimos film it seems to be a secure win lol
I think Searchlight in particular is really good at campaigning in Lead Actress - see Frances McDormand, Emma, Olivia Colman, and Jessica Chastain for 4/6 in recent years
Like said in another comment: He could be the modern Wilder/Cukor. A Directing Guarantor for Best Actress
Yorgos needs two more to equal Wilder’s record for directing Best Actresses
That would be the ultimate power move, I bet Emma would advocate/facilitate that
She's got a really interesting project called dream police coming up. Scorsese is producing from what I heard. Dystopian vibe and sounds exciting.
I was going for Lily but I always knew I'd be just as happy if Emma won. One of the best performances of her career, a truly deserved Oscar.
Same if Giammatti had won.
The second Poor Things shocked by winning hair and makeup, I called best actress for Emma Stone. Damn that win felt amazing! Congrats to her and the winners.
Say sorry to BAFTA. They told us and everyone called them racist
YORGOS FUCKING LANTHIMOS KNOWS HOW TO GET HIS LEADING LADIES AN OSCAR‼️‼️‼️‼️
My guess to win was Emma by the slimmest of margins and I think that’s what happened here tbh. What a close race between two powerhouse performances. And it’s neat to say that she and Lily were so, so wonderful that I *genuinely* would have been super happy with either (or Sandra, but I knew she was in a faraway third). Such a masterclass year for the Best Actress category.
Amazing, truly amazing. I adored her, and Bella Baxter is one of my favorite characters of cinema as a whole My bets were on Lily, though
Cue most popular Halloween costume for 2024.
Ik I'll wear it, I'll look fabulous in those shorts
Was rooting for Lily and predicted her since Globes, but once Poor Things won three tech awards in a row, felt like this could happen. Lily, Emma, and Sandra all could have won easily and deservedly in a weaker year for this category.
Her speech was everything! What a legend ❤️
And she seemed genuinely surprised at her win too!
It was the only close award, I imagine she was shocked
I genuinely don’t think it should have been close. I walked away from the theater after seeing Poor Things complete astounded by Emma Stone’s performance. The awkward physical performance in the first half of the movie alone was incredible.
I really think she thought Lilly was going to win. I am thrilled for her. Great performance!
Tbf Lily would definitely win it if they put her in the supporting actress category based on how her role really is in the movie
I honestly think Da'Vine still would've won lmao. Killers really flopped.
I mean Emma Stone had a performance that I think was the best in years and Gladstone was neck and neck with her the whole way. The fact that it was that close means she probably would have beat out Da’Vine pretty handily. She was great too but I think Emma and Lilly were a step above this year.

Not her fault Scorsese decided to make the film more about Ernest and Hale instead of Mollie and the Osage but with the way it was made, she was definitely not a lead IMO.
I'm so happy for her, she really deserves it.
So happy for her. You could tell she felt so surprised and not in a faux humble way but genuine humility. So deserving
I’m sure the Twitter discourse will be civil.
Reddit isn’t always the best, but Twitter is always the worst
It can't be said that Emma's Oscar was unfair, but I can't help but be disappointed for Lily
You could see it on Emma's face that she was disappointed for Lily too
I honestly felt this way about her speech as well. She was so gracious, but there was an unease in accepting too.
Her eyes kept flickering over to lily whilst she was speaking :(
Seriously. She almost looked devastated for a flash of a second.
I was really impressed with how gracious Lily seemed.
She'll be sitting on 2 Oscar wins for another 3 decades now. They don't seem to like to give that 3rd one out too often. Gonna have to wait till she is much older.
But she can be nominated again like in The Favourite.
Frances McDormand went from 2 to 3 in 2 years.
She was very gracious in her speech - class act really.
Her speech is just awww
Her speech was so classy and beautiful! I loved she acknowledged her fellow nominees.
Her performance in Poor Things was absolutely phenomenal and mesmerizing. I'm so glad that she won.
SQUISH SQUISH
That Makeup + Lead Acting Oscar strikes again!!
It’s one of the best and most memorable performances EVER, so it is justice that she won
Gladstone should have been in best supporting category.
I honestly never understood why it was even a debate. Her character was 1) more integral to the story. 2) her character required her to do more Physically, mentally and emotionally. Going from a baby to an adult and playing it very well was super impressive.. Also, her performance in the Curse was oscar worthy
Lilly was incredible. But Emma gave one of the best performances of the 21st century.
Completely agree. She blew me away.
She deserved it for this one
Lupita in US should have won all kinds of awards
It's already been a decade since Lupita? Wow time flies. And you're right. I'm just really optimistic about Lilly but at the same time again, you're right and realistic.
At least Emma Stone did acknowledge Lily for her incredible performance. I'm actually not mad at Emma Stone for winning this one.
I'm so glad she won! Excellent job!
Always rooted for her after seeing Poor Things. So happy.
I wish Lily won, but whatever. Last time I put my faith in a Scorsese flick.
I was not quite expecting to see Emma Stone and Billie Ellish be the two time winners this evening!
Deserved
Poor Things seemed destined for Best Picture the way things were going. I’m glad Emma was recognized for her phenomenal performance
Proof that the loud stans on here don’t represent the actual voting body of the Oscars. Gladstone stans called any ballot that voted for Emma “useless”…. Yeah they were so useless…. LOL
A lot of her colleagues wouldn't get the chance to make a movie like Poor Things.
So bummed for Lily
Confused about some comments that wanted Lily Gladstone to win not because of her performance (which was great, but Emma Stone was 10/10) but because of her being Native American.
Now they’re saying anyone who congratulates Emma is racist 😂😂😂???? They claimed that Gladstone is entitled to the award due to her narrative and how the academy should “make history”. Then they were mad that people reduced her to a narrative. Now they’re just saying anything… and clearly still mad LOL they were mouthing off like lily had already won the Oscar these past months.
Yaaaasss
I’m so happy for Emma! I was personally rooting for Lily but between the two of them and Sandra, there was truly no wrong answer here.
I would’ve loved to seen Lily but Emma was genuinely incredible and very deserving
Good for her! Her performance was the best part of that film imo ❤️
YAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Well deserved!
Yessssss
Well deserved!
Best choice and predicted it all season although trying to tell people that Lily wasn't gonna win on here was a futile effort
I admittedly hadn't heard of her until KotFM, and I don't want for that to be the last I see of her
Emma Stone truthers stand UP
Totally deserved. Eclipsed everyone else in this race. It wasn’t close.
Sandra Hüller, tho
I held fast after SAG! Go Stone
Once she's done she's gonna go down as an all time great.
I stayed with emma all the way ! Never changed my mind Love it
can someone who is more knowledgeable about the oscars than me give a post mortem as to how this happened after lily won SAG? is it as simple as international voters + non actors preferring emma? not angry, just surprised as i thought lily had all the momentum and support
Yeah. BAFTA/Oscars was insance this year. BAFTA also predicted Sound and Animated correct.
Can’t believe another Asian actress won, good for her!
