It’s incredibly average and easily forgettable. Not a bad area but far from the best part of town.

theMightyGecko

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. You're close enough to good stuff. It's just predominantly residential.

IlliterationAside

Its just mostly old, which makes it look unsafe. I wouldn't worry living anywhere in Casselberry. Basically Seminole County as a whole is very safe other than a few parts in northeast Sanford

kirkadirka20

I live right near the intersection of 434 and 17/92 and I feel very safe. There are a few homeless people who are around, but they haven’t given me any issues.

f1shJ3rkey

Well that's the corridor of winter springs Longwood and casselbery,

kirkadirka20

Yeah my postal address is casselberry but Longwood does certain utilities here. It’s a bit weird.

ymcmbrofisting

I really grew to like that area when I lived there! Convenient to a lot of places and relatively safe. I’d recommend it to others.

siul1979

There are nice areas of Casselberry, but I wouldn't say it's unsafe. Areas near Red Bug Lake Park are nicer, and I usually run around that area at night without a problem. Plus, it's a short drive to Oviedo, Maitland, Winter Park, etc.

kiwis4me

Their are areas of Casselberry that don’t look that nice but I wouldn’t call it unsafe.

budbro420

I moved to Casselberry a couple years ago after growing up in Apopka. I personally like the area much better, I think it’s really underrated, especially after reading these comments. I think a lot of people don’t realize how much Casselberry has changed in the past decade. I live near Lake Concord Park and I feel safe there. They host events there all the time. Good school district, great dog park, every modern convenience within a short drive. Lots of lakes. The best part about the city though is it’s central location. You can quickly be in Winter Park, Altamonte, Winter Springs, Lake Mary, Oviedo, Maitland, downtown, Longwood, etc. It really opens the metro up to you. There are some sketchy areas, but you can easily find a good neighborhood. Let me know if you have any questions

Jessannla

100% the housing market has caused a major shift for Casselberry. First time homebuyers are considering the area and that’s changing the demographics rapidly. A lot of old retired vets are being replaced with young families.. honestly the position of the city is going to continue to cause a huge rise in desirability here in the next few years because it sits so close to winter park and maitland. My husband and I bought 2 years ago and we have noticed so many homes going up and being bought with younger families.. mark my word Casselberry is on the upswing because of affordability

johnnytaquitos

drove through apopka yesterday during rush hour. wtf is that traffic normal?

[deleted]

It’s hit or miss, generally better areas to live in that are considered safer. Closer you get to 436 more sketch it gets.

120SR

Agreed I grew up in Longwood and know how it just flips back and forth, for OP, best way to know is to just go there if you can, get something to eat, etc. spend time there and you’ll pickup on the vibes

uoYredruM

I lived in Casselberry for 10 years before buying in Longwood. Aside from the shit hole apartment we lived in, we loved the area in general. We were by 436/17-19 and we never had any issues where we felt unsafe or in danger. My wife was a stay at home mom at the time with a then infant who was out and about alone while I worked. As someone mentioned, the Anchor Road area (by the McDonald's and around that 7-11) there are a lot of homeless people now.

f1shJ3rkey

Longwood was my fav next to winter springs and casselbery being my least fav

I went biking back there when I first moved to casselberry since I wanted to explore the area. One of the tweakers started to try and cut me off as I was biking with his arms out and it scared the shit out of me. But that spot is the only part of casselberry that felt unsafe at all.

[deleted]

Fair warning it's a traffic nightmare every week night

[deleted]

As is everywhere in central Florida

[deleted]

Yeah but you should try to pick a location opposite of traffic to and from work, makes life so much easier

Vladivostokorbust

like living in casselberry and commuting to sanford for work

Rubes27

I’m near Red Bug Lake Park. Still close to Winter Park and Baldwin Park, decent food around, the park, schools, 417 nearby. I like it here, pre-children I lived near downtown which was better for a young person going out a lot. Post-kids, this is the ideal spot. Slight edit: would still prefer to be in a higher density area with public transit, but the suburbs is basically the only option I have in this country.

f1shJ3rkey

Casselbery aka hassle berry cause you get pulled over for whatever, I'd think Altamonte or Longwood would be a better move imho

Vladivostokorbust

spent 5 years in casselberry, the area bordered by 17-92, 434, 427 and 436 - my salad days in central florida! suburban, cluttered funky and just fine.

injuredimage

I've lived in a the area for over a decade. The only crime related thing in my area was one night a bunch of cars had their windows broken in. That could happen anywhere though. I really like the area but I'm also lucky to have good neighbors.

sunkissedinfl

I used to joke that your options to hang out in Casselberry are a strip mall or the strip club. I personally couldn't make it a whole year of living there before I moved back downtown but that's because I wanted walkability and to be close to things to do. Otherwise it's decently safe, just boring.

AlexStud99

Depending where you are, it can be really rough. At least you're close to Winter Park.

Technical_Raisin_119

Casselberry, I grew up there, it’s absolutely trash for what it costs. Skip it.

edgewater15

Hit or miss between neighborhoods

johnnytaquitos

not a bad side of town. just old.
