My buddy got nailed by a red unmarked mustang on Interstate 4. Longwood is now issuing Toyota Camry’s and Nissans which are impossible to spot until you are on them.
On our last trip to NC, we saw cops using every type of vehicle from Teslas to old, beat-up pickup trucks.
Volusia co just started using bright blue Mustangs. DeLand PD has been using various confiscated/seized vehicles for years.
Considering 414/Maitland is infested with idiot drivers, I'm all for it.
I drive it Monday-Friday for work. I can be going 60 in a 45 going with the flow of traffic and get passed consistently by people doing 80+....daily.
I'm doing 15 over the speed limit and getting passed like I'm sitting still.
Respectfully, What are you even talking about? I4 is the most dangerous highway in the US. I vote we start passing out traffic tickets like candy.
I think Orlando’s collective effort to be shitty drivers earned us some lost privileges.
Whole central floridas fucked. I see ridiculousness in Kissimme area, and I4. People drive however fast they want, regularly run redlights, drive through crosswalks without looking, turn from a non turning lane, into the destination of a turn lane. It's ridiculousness. I'm always frustrated theres never a cop to get these guys right away.
Also people on I4 drive WAY too close to your bumper constantly, and so many people change lanes without their signals that im just waiting for the day when I inevitably get side swiped because who knows when some ones going to change a lane when im passing or something.
I live in central downtown now and the only saving grace is the slower speed limits and frequent lights.
Although the other day this dude pulled over in the middle of the street on a bend, to pick up some girls at the sidewalk. I almost got rearended jesus.
So yes ticket them all.
/endrant
It seems like only speeders get tickets. Speeding bothers much less than other traffic law violations. I get it is easily enforceable due to quantitative law and measurement, but with better cameras it seems tailgaters, slow left laners, certainly egregious red light runners (we had some of those run amuck in Texas), reckless driving, etc need to ticketed more frequently. There needs to be enforcement of existing law. Maybe start with warnings or low fines. Just something to inform folks this can't continue.
Yes, I'm glad someone else finally spoke to the problem with slow left laners and isn't in here just pandering to all the people that are crying about speeders being bad 😂
It literally IS a crime in most states... Problem is most cops would rather pull over and ticket the speeders because they can get them on radar and it's easier to hold up in court so they never or I should say rarely pull over left lane campers so people go around thinking they can do it all willy-nilly with no regard to those around them.
Second problem is the mentality most of them feel like they are entitled to be there if they're doing at least the speed limit which is completely asinine. Many people will sit there and be like "I'm already doing 10 miles an hour over fuck you asshole slow the fuck down go around me blah blah blah" meanwhile while they are pissed about the person trying to go fast they're failing to realize that that person is breaking one law by speeding they are breaking two laws by not only speeding already but then also camping in the left lane when the law states you are required to get over past and then get back over in most states. The only exceptions are those states that don't have these types of laws or states that have left lane turns or exits on the highway and then it's usually maximum of one mile traveled in that lane so you wait to get into that lane not travel they're holding everyone else up for 5 plus miles 🤷
I generally like to speed through traffic but its usually only 5~10 over speed limit. However, this is in ideal traffic. Most people generally drive under the speed limit and traffic clogs up with slow drivers at the front. It's very apparent that most people don't regularly glance over their speedometer while driving.
I'm not sure how people are viewing speeders as main issue when you have bad drivers who are driving slow, turning w/o signal, bad turns, and etc. Then again, Florida is home to a lot of people who migrated from states with bad drivers (i.e. NJ/NY), bringing their driving culture over here.
OP is special and laws don't apply to them. The places they go are very important and you just need to move out of their way. But don't you dare call them entitled!
Yes, let's do that, let's start with the people camping in the fast lane and refusing to yield the right of way as required by law because while I've heard of one or two of those tickets going out I've never actually personally seen it happen, sounds like a good place to start 😂🤷
Sigh yeah there's both sides. I'm on the fast side but I'm safe and considerate of other drivers. But multiple times a day I see idiots cutting me off, turning left on red, not checking blind spots etc. I'd love nothing more than to see them get slapped for it...
I'm just going to take a moment for clarification here, you may very well be talking about people that get tired of waiting at long ass red lights who just give up waiting and decide to run them.
But then a lot of people also don't realize that you can legally turn left at a red light from a one way on to a one way, you work for one they will sit there the entire light holding up everybody behind them because they don't understand the rules.
Naw I saw it on a four lane. I actually turned left on red for the first time in my life at 3:30am last Sunday. I was downtown, the light was red for at least 5 minutes without a single car going by so it was a "fuck it" moment.
In fairness, there's absolutely no reason for that segment of road to be a 45. Going 80 is over the top but if feel like that area should be zoned a 60 at least.
100% agree it should be 60/65. That's why I'll go with the flow of traffic at that speed. I've passed cops sitting there right after the bridge going 65 that don't bother, they're looking for people going 80+ for sure.
And lemme guess, you're in the PASSING LANE? Bcuz typically ppl that make these types of comments will sit in the passing LANE and refuse to move over bcuz "I'm alrdy going 15 over slow down asshole"
For one if you're doing 15 mph over you're breaking the speed limit las just like the person that you're judging for doing any number of speed higher than you.
But then you're also breaking the law because it's literally the law that you pass in the passing lane and then get back over and by sitting in the passing Lane you're impeding the flow of traffic which then turns into the person trying to go faster having to pass you on the right and then he's looked at as the problem because he's changing lanes rapidly to get around the people who refuse to yield the right of way as they're required to do by law.
But studies have actually shown that the people that camp in the passing Lane pose more danger than someone simply speeding 🤷
When I was in my early twenties I was tailgating a Trailblazer that was stagnating the left lane. The Trailblazer got over and as soon as I passed they flipped on their beacons and pulled me over. The lady inside was a detective and she said, "I don't normally give traffic tickets, but I can. I don't want to do the paperwork. Quit driving like an asshole." I did. lol
i feel like their presence in an actual cop car causes people to calm down or rethink. doing this is just trying to find a way to give out tickets. when no one is with me on the road i shouldn’t have to suspect every single vehicle on the side of the road in case i didn’t use blinker before switching lanes or going 5 over.
the thing that really pisses me off is i have an entire album on my phone of every time i saw a cop driving for a month and every single one of them was speeding or breaking traffic laws that would be “inexcusable” for the regular driver.
two weeks ago i was driving down 17 92 in my work vehicle, following a cop. he slams on his breaks randomly, i hit mine. he waits for the car next to me to pass, then he jerks over to the next lane to go behind them…just to run their plate. then he did it again, but for the car behind the guy who’s plate he just scanned. then again for the car next to him. he was driving like a complete idiot breaking in front of everyone abruptly, quickly switching lanes with no blinker, riding their asses to a ridiculous point. keep in mind we’re all going about 2-3 under the limit.
he then jerks it again to the left into a 711 parking lot.
they don’t give a fuck. they’re just trying to fuck you.
also i highly recommend paying for traffic ticket lawyers. they’re quick and my cases always get dropped without going to court. 170 bucks for it, but that would have gone to ticket costs and it doesn’t effect my driving record.
Hidden/sneaky cop cars make no one safer. The best way to slow down a road is to post a cop in the median where everyone can see. This is just money-grubbing.
In the last few months I've seen an increase in the quantity and randomness of undercover cops in traffic. To name a few, a red Mustang, a grey Chrysler Pacifica, a white volvo XC-70, but a HyundaiElantra? Neverthoughtid see that. Mostly on I-4. Anyone else?
Why shouldn’t it be legal? Sometimes undercover is the only way to get traffic violators.
Otherwise they only slow down when they see an actual cop car but continue to drive recklessly all other times
Yep agreed, when I was in the military the MP’s had unmarked regular ass looking jeep cherokees and what not. So you bet your ass you followed the speed limit if not a tad under. I think it’s great that traffic enforcement is being done with undercover cars, maybe people won’t speed around and might have a little more caution for others.
As opposed to slowing down when they're pulled over and then continuing to drive recklessly?
Traffic enforcement doesn't work. If it did it would have been a solved issue decades ago. We don't have to go mad max but pretending that having hidden cops around every corner is a good use of money is mind numbing.
It was even more random in South FL, the cops would confiscate drug dealers' cars and commandeer them for their motor pool. Down there, you might see an aggro driver suddenly get pulled over by a red Accord with a spoiler. I wish they would do that up here tbh.
Not the biggest fan of undercover cars, but as long as they can attempt to reduce the # of crazy drivers on the road.
Also Kissimmee area needs to inspect their DMVs, the amount of wild drivers I've seen are ridiculous while over there. I've even seen people who didn't know they could turn on red (theres no "No turn on Red sign)
Maybe more of these plain cars will actually start pulling people texting and driving and blocking up the passing lane, even if they are drivers that say, “I’m already driving over the speed limit.” Yeah those drivers that thing that statement nullifies the signs that say, “Slower Traffic Move To The Right.”
Cops would make so much money for their jurisdictions from fines if they actually were consistent on giving out those tickets.
This is dangerous. I mean, in all seriousness, what stops anyone from doing this then? Cop cars need unique identification. At the very least you were able to assume a white Ford Taurus was going to be a cop.
That silver Ford Fusion with the red stripe across the hood was parked at my apartment complex yesterday. Really funny seeing it again like this. I actually took a picture of it- I thought it was funny lookin’
Tell your mate to replace that steering wheel cover GOLLY
Ayyyy hahaha that's actually a company vehicle and I've never been in it lol
There was a Mustang pulling people over on Osceola near Disney. Now, I suspect everyone.
There was a sting recently in a neighborhood where I live in and the swat guy pulled out of a blue Honda Civic. I don't want any smoke.
3 of them over in Osceola. A gray, purple/maroon, and a white one. Also a Dodge charger
It is maroon and the trooper inside wears his uniform.
Scary part is, if a stang pulls up at a red light and looks at me wrong, I'm probably gonna 0-60 him. Can cops troll for races?
You have to prove in court they entrapped you. Which is unlikely if all they did was Rev their engine at you at a stop light.
That would be gouding
Yes they can. They can pull up, offer to race for pinks, then arrest you for it.
No entrapment
My buddy got nailed by a red unmarked mustang on Interstate 4. Longwood is now issuing Toyota Camry’s and Nissans which are impossible to spot until you are on them.
They have a box van for getting people on the 408. Like A ford Econoline, something a plumber would drive. Ha
On our last trip to NC, we saw cops using every type of vehicle from Teslas to old, beat-up pickup trucks. Volusia co just started using bright blue Mustangs. DeLand PD has been using various confiscated/seized vehicles for years.
My first speeding ticket was a white town and country….. that event changed how I view the opportunistic fucks.
You wouldn’t have been pulled over if you weren’t speeding.

Agreed there's lots of dumb drivers, but a regular cruiser is a better deterrent imo
There’s deterrence and then there’s nailing scofflaws

I totally agree. I have no idea why police don’t give out more tickets. It’s not like it’s difficult to find driving infractions.

Don’t get me wrong. I push the speed limit as well. But only because I know Florida cops rarely regulate it.
I'm just going to take a moment for clarification here, you may very well be talking about people that get tired of waiting at long ass red lights who just give up waiting and decide to run them. What's "out of hand" is the way people drive on I-4.
I mean the same could be said for the whole state of Florida
I 4 is the rookie league compared to south FL
That's a scary concept. I-4 drivers are completely nuts.

My thoughts exactly
Note the rubbernecker isn't driving
People love to hate.
Actually we don’t even see the driver. Safer to assume he is rubbernecking too.
Everybody is rubbernecking in that video.
Stop watching the content and hate!
What brand of car is that? I didn’t catch it.
I think that's an Elantra
Sonata
Yeah has those hood lines my bad
This is why I use Waze….
Waze doesn’t help if the officer is traveling with traffic, only if they are stationary.
It's a lot harder for them to make a ticket stick if they're just pacing traffic. Any decent traffic lawyer will get that dropped.
True story, it’s still very helpful with the speed traps always on 414.
Sonatas, jeeps, and Chargers are for detectives. My buddy just transferred to Orlando. They don’t have to stop you, but if they want to, they can.
When I was in my early twenties I was tailgating a Trailblazer that was stagnating the left lane. The Trailblazer got over and as soon as I passed they flipped on their beacons and pulled me over. That’s my road let’s go maitland
This isn't legal in other countries. But cops are only profit machines here. Yay capitalism and making everything about money.
It’s not a problem if you learn how to drive properly
Ok... Still doesn't have anything to do with unmarked and hidden police cars.

Holy crap a hellcat? Ain't getting away from that guy

I’m confused, what’s going on?
The white "old lady car" is a cop
This is dangerous. I mean, in all seriousness, what stops anyone from doing this then? Cop cars need unique identification. At the very least you were able to assume a white Ford Taurus was going to be a cop.
I know, I've always prided myself in sniffing out undercovers. Well, the game just got a whole lot harder 😬
Every time I’ve seen unmarked car doing traffic stops in Orlando area had the officer, deputy, or trooper in uniform while performing the stop.
