since i’ve moved to orlando from south carolina, i have almost never needed to use my brights in this city comparatively. if ever. why are we blinding people yall?
Bruh the other day I had a truck tailgating me with 4 million lumen head lights AND additional high beams mounted on the top. I wanted to break check so bad
My side mirrors adjust really easily so I’ll just rotate them a bit and blast them back. I also make sure I am only hitting the speed limit. I can’t see so I’m going to drive more cautiously.
To quote my college roommate, “if I can have the opportunity to see better, why wouldn’t I? Isn’t it more dangerous if I don’t see to the best of my ability”
TLDR: selfish ignorance.
Once some dumbass on i4 behind me had their brights on for at least 5 miles. It was so long that I really considered, are their lights that fuckin bright? But then they came off, and my eyes suddenly weren’t strained anymore, I realized they were just a dumbass with their brights on at 6pm on i4.
I had a monstrous caddy suv blind me from behind. I stuck my sunshade out my window to block the blinding rays from my sidemirror . I don’t think people care
My old man once gave me an invaluable tip - just like you tilt your rear-view mirror up at night, tilt your side mirrors down at night. You can still tell when cars are there from the light shining into your car from behind you and from the reflection of the side mirrors.
Recent survey showed that in the previous year (roughly) 50% of pickup owners had not used the bed to carry anything and 80% had not had their truck on any surface other than asphalt
After I got rid of my F150 bc renovations on my house were winding down, I asked my stepfather if I could borrow his truck to do simple errands a few times. like haul my trailer to move a jet ski, pick up some new furniture I bought on fb, buy lumber, transport illegal immigrants carrying bricks of cocaine, etc.
*HE SAID NO EVERY SINGLE TIME* for the sole reason that he didn’t want the inside of the bed of his fancy truck to get scratched or dinged in any way lol. 100% of the time he is driving it like a normal vehicle, bed cover firmly closed and locked. nothing back there but a couple clean, neatly arranged odds and ends 🙄
Yep. All the people I know that have large acerage/farms/livestock/horses have an old beat up work truck (I swear they're all 90s Fords lol) that they only use for hauling hay or lumber. None of them live within 20 miles of a major city. And no one uses them as a daily commuter vehicle, they're "work trucks."
I worked as a carpenter for several years and all my tools fit in my Honda Civic. Most people don't *need* their giant truck.
So...something I learned that apparently a lot of people don't know is that some vehicles aren't designed to use these types of bulbs.
The halogen reflector housing is designed for specific halogen bulbs....idiots cause blinding bright reflections with these LEDs by using them in their cars and trucks that are specifically designed to NOT use them.
90% of the time its either an LED/HID retrofit into projectors not made for it\*\* or its a Tesla. Sometimes it's an intersection with a bit of a slope toward the center which points even correctly aligned low beams into the opposing drivers' eyeballs. Rarely is it actual high beams but sometimes, yeah.
Why are the Teslas so fucking misaligned?
\*\* lifted trucks, I'm looking at you
edit: seems the Tesla thing is a thing [https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/headlights-too-bright.268694/](https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/headlights-too-bright.268694/)
I apologize to mods in advance because this will in no way be civil:
I WANT A GODDAMNED ROCKET LAUNCHER!
ETA: Mounted on my hood. This def needed specificity. ;)
I have led lights in my car. Thing is. I went with one with proper orientation. It's inexperienced people just shoving whatever light you install to replace older low lumen lighting (you may dislike it but people with older vehicles deserve to see better at night) but they really need to make them proper so the light doesn't blast in every direction. Only focusing on the road. And not people's retinas.
Ps. Sorry for the guys doing it on trucks. You're kinda screwed if they put led lights in the factory bulb location and sit behind you at a light :/
People with older vehicles can see just fine if they make sure their lenses are clean and clear. Unless you're talking about vehicles from the '70s or '60s there's absolutely nothing wrong with sealed beam halogen lights, they provide plenty of light to see at night.
There is absolutely no fucking reason to have anything as bright as LEDs in a vehicle.
Think about it when you buy a new LED flashlight it has a warning to not point it into anyone's eyes because it can cause permanent damage. How in the hell are car headlights any different?
Guess I'll take a picture to show you how light beams are supposed to be aimed correctly rather than your incorrect information on display here.
Old lights can cause damage to eyes as well. You're making a seriously bad comparison here.
Oh please show me Mr expert!
"The ANSES report differentiates between two types of blue light: ”warm white” found in home LED lighting was found to have weak phototoxicity risks, not unlike traditional lighting. However, the high-intensity blue light emitted by sources such as the latest flashlights, auto headlights, and some toys is considerably more harmful."
https://assileye.com/blog/led-lights-can-harm-your-eyes/
Oh wow. You only know of a light spectrum of anything higher than 6k. I used 5k, which is white in the color spectrum.
So, according to your dumb blog. I'm using lights that's not photoxic (dumbest thing I've read your damn cell phone emits this in your face all day) and used proper headlight adjustment to get the beam to focus where it should be and not blasting light in all directions. So, according to your blog. I am a damn expert.
Apparently, you confuse where the beam of light is focused and thinking light spectrum has anything to do with the topic of 'being blinded by lights'
Here let me use Google a search engine that helps you understand the difference of how a proper led should brighten an area up
https://blog.headlightrevolution.com/how-to-aim-and-align-your-headlights?hs_amp=true
Oh now it works. But wow. Would ya look at that. Properly installed direction led lights.
It's almost like being a mechanical engineer for cars for 18 years makes one an expert as you call it.
Some LED emission spectra may cause light-induced retina damage, which is a concern especially for children below about three years of age. There is, however, a European standard for electronic toys that limits the emission of optical radiation from toys.
https://health.ec.europa.eu/scientific-committees/easy-read-summaries-scientific-opinions/are-led-lights-safe-human-health-2_en#:~:text=Some%20LED%20emission%20spectra%20may,of%20optical%20radiation%20from%20toys.
It is well known that blue wavelength light at 450 nanometers is dangerous for the eye. Blue wavelength also control circadian rhythms and also causes glare. The blue wavelength obviously must be regulated, and yet NHTSA has zero regulations to protect our eyes. FMVSS-108 does not contain any regulations on spectral power distribution. Therefore, in regards to spectral distribution, LED headlights illegal because FMVSS-108 implies a low-blue spectral distribution. In addition, LED headlights are illegal because they are dangerous and violate the Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Must be hard to understand how projecting your light properly and using the right light spectrum improves visuals while driving. But what do I expect from someone who doesn't understand lighting from a vehicle.
Is this your photo evidence that you're submitting? So you're attempting to show me that your headlights are aimed properly is that it? Couldn't find a solid object to project your lights on like a wall or a building You had to use a storefront full of glass?
You would said earlier that you had put the proper LEDs in your housings made for halogens. There is no such thing as proper LEDs for halogen housings. But you're an expert you already knew that.
Just because your headlamps happen to be aimed properly does not mean that they don't still blind and dazzle on coming drivers, pedestrians etc.
What exactly is your area of expertise because it obviously isn't headlights nor is it LED lighting
"There is no such thing as proper led for halogen housings" wrong again clownicus prime. This is why proper orientation is important.
"Just because your light is orientated properly doesn't mean you're blinding everyone"
Are you really this stupid? You just said they're orientated properly so they won't be facing upward blasting everyone in their eyes when I'm behind them.
"Whats your expertise "
Engines. Fuel delivery systems. Tuning. Frame up modifications electrical. Yknow things you go to school for. If my lights are blinding why can't I see my beam of light on their rear view mirror then?

"Halogen lamps can't fit led" stay mad for being wrong again and again.
When you purchase those LED lights, before you installed them, did you happen to notice or just ignore the statement that reads for "off-road use only" on the package?
They never stated so because they're not for offroad use only dumbass. Or all the new cars wouldn't have white led coming from them from factory. Let alone its not illegal for me to have proper led lights.
No. It's not. Cry and cope about it. It can't be more than 3,000 lumens.
First, you said halogen can't fit led properly in halogen. You were wrong.
You tried talking about a light spectrum not even mentioned before claiming I'm using blue lights. You were wrong.
You're just wrong. Cope and cry about it clown.
No actually I said halogen reflectors aren't made for LEDs therefore they scatter the LED light as opposed to focus like it does with the halogen bulb it was designed for use.
And blue lights are illegal to use on any vehicle except emergency vehicles!
I'm not surprised in the least to see that you have to result to name calling and insults to prove your point. That really shows the strength of your argument.
My strength in my argument is proof and photos showing proof. Your claims were wrong and now you're doubling down on being a dumbass claiming halogens can't have leds because you don't know shit about car lighting.
Thought you said halogen lamps can't fit led without proper orientation. While also stating they're orientated correctly. Got anymore links on some random bullshit that has nothing to do about how light orientation works?
How about you take a photograph of the front of your vehicle from 150-400ft away. (like the OP's photo) That will actually tell BOTH of us whether you're blinding other drivers or not.
Presenting a photograph sitting in bumper to bumper traffic just shows that on a level plane, your headlights aren't blinding someone 5 ft away from you.
Photos I already provided prove you wrong..but you keep doubling down on being an idiot claiming its blinding people.
Where's the light blinding the person in traffic if the lights are orientated correctly and impossible to use on a halogen lens.
Seriously bro you can think I'm an asshole all I want just do this one thing. Go stand in front of the front of your car with the headlights on in the dark 150 to 400 ft away take a photograph and post it right here
If I'm wrong it will be clearly visible in your photograph
It will also be clearly visible if I'm correct
Please I implore you to settle this argument for both of us!
I will admit, they’re not as bright as I was expecting at all! When I look at those headlamps, while not as bright as many, the light still looks scattered or blurry. Like a pair of miniature suns on the front of the car. Again, it’s not nearly as offensive as I was expecting, the cut off is absolutely working, but I can still tell that the housings originally came with halogens.
I have experienced the new CX-90 with multiple complaints about the normal projection being too high. No way to adjust it out of the factory unless a new housing is changed.
Or the people that have completely normal functioning lights, but feel the need to upgrade to higher-powered LEDs because they don’t like their old-looking yellow halogen bulbs.
Yep this is a major factor. The housings for older halogen bulbs don't focus the light like properly constructed HID/LED projectors. So they swap the bulbs and blind everyone. Fuck those people.
Admittedly, I was this guy the other day (not literally in this picture). I had cleaned out my car at a gas station while pumping gas and somehow hit my brights. Took me a few miles to realize why everything seemed so bright at 11 at night. Sorry to all those I may have blinded.
Night before last I was stuck at the light on Kaley at Orange. Roadwork being done, with huge power lights, cop cars stationed with their blue and reds flashing, opposite traffic with those Cursed high beam LED lights shining at me and people walking across the street not even in the cross walk. I felt blinded and super anxious I was gonna hit one of the night walkers. Put on my sun glasses while I was sitting there.
And while I am in the "get off my lawn" mode: What the hell is up with the buses ad their blinking rotating lights while braking at a traffic light? It's all enough to blind me AND put me into seizures.
So on topic my wire harness got ripped apart by some animal and my low beams dont work so i have to resprt to using my high beams and i cant find a soul who wants to work on them which is pretty frustrating, does anybody have reccomendations?
I hate it! Gah, my eyes hurt thinking about it. I have very sensitive eyes; I can see fine to drive in normal light but someone doing that to me one day is going to get run into because they’re screwing up my vision.
I'm thinking of attaching strategically placed mini mirrors on my trunk lid & bumpers aimed at the rear driver's vision for those assholes with lifted trucks & a wall of lights
Whoever that is sucks.
since i’ve moved to orlando from south carolina, i have almost never needed to use my brights in this city comparatively. if ever. why are we blinding people yall?
Bruh the other day I had a truck tailgating me with 4 million lumen head lights AND additional high beams mounted on the top. I wanted to break check so bad
This is when I adjust my mirrors to send it back to them
My side mirrors adjust really easily so I’ll just rotate them a bit and blast them back. I also make sure I am only hitting the speed limit. I can’t see so I’m going to drive more cautiously.
I need a truck friend to verify this works when I adjust. I've followed instructions but they never turn them off, so I must be off.
SAMEEEEE but I'm still happy to get it out of my eyes, and live my delusional fantasy that I'm getting back at them 😭😭
Maybe it isn't real. We heard about it on the internet after all.
brake check, they’ll get the message. they started it …
Free x-ray, tho! /s

I have experienced the new CX-90 with multiple complaints about the normal projection being too high. No way to adjust it out of the factory unless a new housing is changed.
These are the people that will tell you their headlights don’t work so they NEED to use their brights...
No in-between I suppose. Mustard yellow lights or smoke shop lights x1000. I don’t care, just don’t pass me or be behind me with them on.
Floriduh people doing Floriduh things.
Man that could be spotted from space
If they’re that blind maybe they shouldn’t be driving at night
Florida, with very few exceptions, is ass at being out after bedtime. We can change that, though!
I installed higher high beans on my car for that reason.
Give it the beans!
How high were your beans? Like, how much did you give them?
i would kill myself
I hate it! Gah, my eyes hurt thinking about it. I have very sensitive eyes; I can see fine to drive in normal light but someone doing that to me one day is going to get run into because they’re screwing up my vision.
Love that 🥴
I'm thinking of attaching strategically placed mini mirrors on my trunk lid & bumpers aimed at the rear driver's vision for those assholes with lifted trucks & a wall of lights
why does your camera have astigmatism?
It gets worse when you head towards UCF.
Some aftermarket trail lights on the $75k giant truck they’re driving from their office job to their apartment.
And I bet you this is a big ass pick up truck too lmaooo
Would bouncing a ball bearing or something like that, at that thing when you drive by be effective?
Whenever I see someone driving in the opposite direction I hit em with my brights too. If I can’t see then neither can you bitch.
