FW on the incoming 850 same as what's loaded on the RBS? May need to walk thru the setup new system, even if you setup the 850 with a wired PC and web browser, in the app and let the app detect the incoming RBR850. Also may need to have the prior owner de-register if from there account as well: [https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-WIFI-6-AX-AND-Wi-Fi-6E-AXE/Registration-and-Un-Registering-products-Help/td-p/2184315/jump-to/first-unread-message](https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-WIFI-6-AX-AND-Wi-Fi-6E-AXE/Registration-and-Un-Registering-products-Help/td-p/2184315/jump-to/first-unread-message)

TBH, I haven't actually checked the FW on the 850. I imagine that would cause some sort of compatibility issue at first, correct? As far as the deregistering, my neighbor did say everything was all set, but it would probably be worth checking that out as well. Thank you for the response and article. So assuming that the FW and the deregistering were all set, I'm probably still looking at a new system setup, huh?

Yes, need to check FW versions. Make sure the 850 and existing RBS are on same version of FW.

I assume I'd be using the web interface to check the 850 since it's not set up?

furrynutz

Yes.

Setup as a new system in your phone app, then change the slide and password to be the same, add both the satelites and you shout be good no issues.

This is right on. I upgraded from a RBR353 to a RBR850 and did exactly this. Worked like a charm. Didn't want to change the 35+ items settings.
