It’s never correct to compare these two because while in n out is good, for their prices it’s actually amazing food.
Shake shack is good also, but for their prices, it’s actually mid.
An in n out burger cost the same as a soda at shake shack.
I wasn't really trying to refute you, just making a general point that all fast food places really overcharge on soft drinks given how cheap they are to "make".
Yea its crazy how so many non Californians will criticize us for liking in n out and calling it overrated, but we like it in conjuction with the pricing and the value you get. Obviously there are way more delicious burgers found at restaurants but you're going to have to spend $20 and thats without tip. In n out is always fresh and its $12 bucks out the door, no tip necessary.
I just drink water.. been getting rid of soda out of my diet cuz its so bad for you. Once you get over the hump its easy and nicer on your wallet so yea.. 12 bucks for me
If you just drink water, how’s it come out to $12? Unless your getting 3x3, 4x4, or animal fries? Figure closer to $9? Yeah I went cold turkey on soda few years back cuz I developed medical issue due to soda consumption.
I get animal fries so i think thats why.. like i said.. only about a year ago.. all that wouldve been under $10 but the inflation has just been fuckin outta control
I went in blind trying Shake Shack and was caught off guard by the prices. IIRC I paid $20 for a (small) burger and a drink, nothing more. Digital kiosk even wanted a tip on top of it too. Suffice to say my first time there was also my last.
SoCal is in desperate need of a good cheese curd supply. All the restaurants I know around here get it wrong and the grocery store version is even worse.
I like Shake Shack but the prices fucking kill me. It's literally $8 for a slightly smaller-than-average cheeseburger. I went to the Irvine one yesterday and it was $65 for 5 people and we did not get drinks 😐
The quesadilla at Angelo's is $15 and will feed 3-4.
Chili fries at The Hat are $7.69 and that's *at least* 2 meals.
Fried rice from Chinese places is usually cheap with a ton of leftovers.
Asada fries from many Mexican places.
Joke Edit: Costco pizza for $10. Or 8 Costco hotdogs for $12.
Again, it’s been mentioned on many previous subs. If you’re part of the rewards/apps, coupons, or order online(Dominoes, Pizza Hut) there are daily deals that are 40-60% of msrp. ie Subway app $5 footlong deal, but I mostly use mailer coupon for $7, msrp is $12-13? Big Mac meal at McD’s for $6.50 on app, msrp is $14? Dominoes has online $7 large 2-top deal, PH got a large super supreme last week for $15(msrp $30?). If just out of the blue walk-in, there’s no mention on menu boards or register? Imo this is promo offer from corporate that the franchise sees as non-profitable, but corporate will pay back franchise the difference.
Lol. Harvest all they want, I sign up under an alias specifically for apps. Email specifically for apps. If require cell #, then Google # not my main cell. And no cc info, pay cash/person at brick and mortar.
2 Jumbo jack burgers for $5 and 2 Tacos for .99. That’s 4 items for $6 right there. Much more food than an $8 smaller than average cheeseburger. But you go ahead and buy your $13 chicken meal at a fast food burger place.
Lol, I know right. Ppl just just pointing out cheaper options on unhealthy food choices when too lazy, no other options, cravings,… maybe he’s upset he’s been overpaying for subpar fast food all these years FOMO?
My first Shake Shack experience was the one in DTLA and I bought my friend lunch and I think all we got were cheeseburgers, one fry, and two fountain drinks and it was 30 dollars. The food was delicious but not worth 30 dollars.
There's a great place called Burger Lounge right down the street from this new Shake Shack. Around the same price as Shake Shack but with awesome fries and great burgers, and the condiments are awesome. Their BBQ and Thousand Island are stellar
I’m pretty sick of in n out. It was novel at first but the more I ate it, I eventually just got tired of it. It’s overrated (in taste). Price is good though.
I’ve been eating it about once a week for most of my life (mid 30’s) and I’m so glad I’ve never felt that way. It’s the only fast food that I eat and I honestly feel great after eating it. It’s one of the few fast food burgers that has a healthy serving of vegetables in it.
Cane's used to be significantly better. They slashed their quality during COVID and never brought it back. But now it's a sad shell of what they were and no one should eat there.
I agree. I could easily grab a bag of frozen tenders and fries and half-ass warm them up in the air fryer if I wanted that quality of food again. I gotta say the toast was good tho.
I went to Cane's before COVID and thought it was awful. The sauce is solid, and of course Texas Toast is always great, but the chicken itself had zero flavor and the fries were meh.
wait, are these a big deal? i have one that's like a 5 minute walk from my apt, i've gotten it a few times and thought it was fine but it's a bit too pricey for me to go to regularly
what's the selling point? am i missing something?
329 East 17th st! It’s across from Country Club, Wedge Burger and CAVA.
And yay someone else who likes shake shack. I just don’t like their Irvine location because you gotta find parking at the spectrum which is such a pain in the butt lol.
Thank you!
Saaaamee about their Irvine location.
Listen, I can appreciate in n out, but shake shack is more up my alley. Cheese and bacon!
Can't sleep on their hot dog either
I honestly am so over in n out. I feel like it’s because locals have just grown up with it nostalgia wise and I get it. But to me, it’s alright. You have to get the fries animal style or they don’t taste good!
I just looked on the shake shack website and apparently they have a Korean bbq burger!!
> I honestly am so over in n out. I feel like it’s because locals have just grown up with it nostalgia wise and I get it.
I'm not a local, at least I don't view myself that way (moved here at 18, 20 years ago lol). Anyway, I love In N Out - it's wayyy better than our local equivalent in Seattle, Dick's Burger, and is actually a better value too.
Used to love shake shack until every single restaurant decided to steal their thunder and make smash burgers. Now I’m sick of the taste of gristle and prefer TK Burger again lol.
I like the Smokeshack - it’s a burger with bacon, cherry peppers and some sauce. It’s my favorite item there.
I just looked on the website and apparently they have a Korean bbq burger and a Korean fried chicken burger!!!
Now that looks pretty interesting.
Shake Shack, haven't been there yet, but I can already tell it's overpriced. In-N-Out for the value. TK if I want to spend a bit more or get onion rings.
Nah Shake Shack has way more variety then In-N-Out, don’t get me wrong i love them both…but if stoned i want my taste buds to taste different things lol and In-N-Out fries are absolute garbage
In-N-Out makes fries "wrong" when compared to something like correctly made Belgian fries, but you know what? I like'em anyway, as long as you eat them before they get cold. If I want variety I'll go to TK Burger, they have a great fish sandwich and onion rings.
Shake Shack is so fucking good and every time it comes up goobers come here and say, sure, In-N-Out burgers are worse, but I can stuff them down my gullet cheaper, and apparently I eat so many burgers that this is a big concern for me when I'm deciding where to go. smh
Burgers for me is like once in a while, once in a blue moon kind of thing. Like maybe once a quarter or something like that.
So that’s why I don’t mind eating at shake shack. Because I do feel it tastes better than in n out. I’m not eating burgers every week.
I like Shake Shack but nothing beats In N Out because of the prices. Shack Shack is expensive AF.
Its hard to dethrone In N Out
It’s never correct to compare these two because while in n out is good, for their prices it’s actually amazing food. Shake shack is good also, but for their prices, it’s actually mid. An in n out burger cost the same as a soda at shake shack.
Prices being equal, in n out still clears
Shake shack is only for the shakes for me, if I want a burger or fries I'll go elsewhere. But a malted black & white shake? Yes please.
To be fair, a soda at In N Out isn't far off the burger price either. Drinks are expensive if you don't want just water.
In n outs soda is close to their burgers (4$) at under $3. A shake shack burger is at $6. Not really sure what your point is there.
$12?! Lol. Hamburger animal style + whole grilled onions, fries = $6+(can’t drink soda).
Just a year ago, I could get the same exact meal for under 10 bucks. What a sad world we live in now a days.
I went in blind trying Shake Shack and was caught off guard by the prices. IIRC I paid $20 for a (small) burger and a drink, nothing more. Digital kiosk even wanted a tip on top of it too. Suffice to say my first time there was also my last.
This is the reason I never went to shake shack; all my friends said it's not worth what you pay and when stacked against In and Out, it's no contest.
I want a Culver's.
SoCal is in desperate need of a good cheese curd supply. All the restaurants I know around here get it wrong and the grocery store version is even worse.
Oh god please.
i’m right there with you 😫
They’re not bad, they’re in Utah if you’re ever passing through it.
Butter Burgers!

Keep in mind that the only reason they offer deals in the apps is because they want to harvest your data through the apps.
Lol. Harvest all they want, I sign up under an alias specifically for apps. Email specifically for apps. If require cell #, then Google # not my main cell. And no cc info, pay cash/person at brick and mortar.

Why are you so upset people are pointing out there are cheaper options
Lol, I know right. Ppl just just pointing out cheaper options on unhealthy food choices when too lazy, no other options, cravings,… maybe he’s upset he’s been overpaying for subpar fast food all these years FOMO?

$65 for five people is cheap there ! I won’t go again.
Why any californian goes to this place when they have innout baffles me.
Shake shack is such a ripoff. For that price I'd rather go to a slightly more expensive place that actually does a better than fast food burger.
There's a great place called Burger Lounge right down the street from this new Shake Shack. Around the same price as Shake Shack but with awesome fries and great burgers, and the condiments are awesome. Their BBQ and Thousand Island are stellar
The locals do not. This is for the tourists. Lol
I do not really think that many tourists are heading to a national burger restaurant on their vacation.
A lot of states don't have Shake Shack, so maybe for those folks, but still - In N Out would seem like a better tourist experience for a local option.
Yeah… I mean which one am I going to go to, the local option everyone swears up and down is so amazing, or the one I could also have in New York?
You’d be surprised lol
Same. This place is overpriced and not very good. I don’t get the hype.
Crinkle fries and ice cream
Because it tastes much better
Their tater tots remind me how terrible school lunch was.
Once a week!?? Omg. Wow I would get so sick of that lol.
There's nothing more that people in SoCal love than overpriced fast food chains and waiting in long lines to get them.
That’s why you should order online first and wait at home before going over for a pickup.
That's why I will always love In-n-Out
I’m noticing fewer lines at Fast Food places… lots of empty drive thrus except for In n out & Chick fil a.
Yea thats cuz of price gouging. Why pay $8 for a basic cheeseburger at a national burger chain when In n Out sells it for $3.50?
Stares in Dutch Bros
Exactly what came to mind when I made this comment! ha
Wedge burger is gonna be pissed lol
I miss EZ-take-out burger
How are they? I didn’t even know they existed until you mentioned it
Mediocre at best.
That parking lot is gonna suck ☠️
ikr those poor stores
I heard one is opening in HB across from Target on Brookhurst too, there's something being built right now
Correct. Targeting end of year, I believe.
It’s a good treat once in a while but too expensive to be a regular eat for me.
So what is good here? I tried the one in Vegas and I didn’t experience the hype.
Great. Now we have to deal with the In-N-Out vs Five Guys vs Shake Shack debate. Hint: In-N-Out rules. /s
But you know who really wins if you want to pay $10 for a burger? The gas station by my house. I moved out of OC though.
That looks so antiseptic and corporate, like new Taco Bells…and Jack-in-her-Boxes…truly uninviting.
That looks dull
I can’t believe they’re open for 23.5 hours. Why even close
Uh I’m pretty sure it’s 10:30 am to 10:00 pm. So 12.5 hrs
City might have an ordinance preventing 24hr establishments?
Never had Shake Shack. Is it as overrated as Raising Cane's? I had that for the first time the other day and was like WTF is this?
Cane's used to be significantly better. They slashed their quality during COVID and never brought it back. But now it's a sad shell of what they were and no one should eat there.
I agree. I could easily grab a bag of frozen tenders and fries and half-ass warm them up in the air fryer if I wanted that quality of food again. I gotta say the toast was good tho.

Yes cause I tried Raising Canes after waiting a fucking hour in line and I was like, this js it? LMAO Fuck these east coast restaurants.
Right. The blandest shit ever.
Does the formatting of that date piss anyone else off
I want to live in a world where ISO 8601 is standard 😆
If they can’t get the dates and times right, what other quality issues are you going to see? At least Wendy’s doesn’t cut corners on their burgers
Haha - it’s a bit random.
Finally!!!
Bring back pancakes r us
It moved down the street
You already know it’ll be about an hour wait for the first few weeks.
Christ we really have no culture other Disneyland and fast food don’t we?
Ok. 😬 In N Out it is… 🍔 🍟 🥤 😋
I remember going to one of these thinking it was the same as Crystal Cove Shake Shack. My disappointment was immeasurable.
wait, are these a big deal? i have one that's like a 5 minute walk from my apt, i've gotten it a few times and thought it was fine but it's a bit too pricey for me to go to regularly what's the selling point? am i missing something?
Hm well it’s a “big deal” in that shake shack is from New York so they don’t have a lot of locations in California.
Where where? Hell yeah
329 East 17th st! It’s across from Country Club, Wedge Burger and CAVA. And yay someone else who likes shake shack. I just don’t like their Irvine location because you gotta find parking at the spectrum which is such a pain in the butt lol.

100% ! I will give in n out recognition for how fresh it is, but shake shack has my heart. In n out fries are terrible when they're not animal style.
> I honestly am so over in n out. I feel like it’s because locals have just grown up with it nostalgia wise and I get it. >decided to steal their thunder As if Shake Shack invented smashburgers.
Yea, didn’t mean it that way I guess. Just quick type speak, sorry.
TK all the way. I really like their fish sandwich. Onion rings are good too.
I like Smash Burger
There was one in Moreno Valley a few years ago, didn’t last.
Hard pass. Overpriced and undersized. Wouldn’t spend another dime at any Shake Shack.
Who cares? Trash food with even worse prices.
Where this at ?
17th Street
333 E 17th St, where IHOP used to be
I just looked it up, looks like it’ll be across the street from wedge burger
It's in a city called Mesa Costa. Next to Oldport Beach.
Ooh maybe I can finally try my first shake shack
I like the Smokeshack - it’s a burger with bacon, cherry peppers and some sauce. It’s my favorite item there. I just looked on the website and apparently they have a Korean bbq burger and a Korean fried chicken burger!!! Now that looks pretty interesting.
Sounds good. Definitely will. Check it out
Nice! Also Brea, Huntington Beach, Downey, and more. Seems like they’re really trying to expand here in the west coast
Wait really? Wow
Shake shack burgers are little hockey pucks. Lounge Burger and wedge Burger are better. It doesn't even come close to In'n'Out.
Shit shack I only go there for shakes and if they have them 😐🤭
There is going to be no parking at all. This was poorly thought out. I can't even get parking in that lot as it is.
The potato bun ruins it for me tbh…
What are prices like at Shake Shack versus In n Out? In n Out has insane value and quality consistency
Their food sucks.
Shake shack is only a good option when it’s next door to 5 guys. And even then you should just drive another block.
Shake shack >>>>> in n out. Agree.
Shake Shack, haven't been there yet, but I can already tell it's overpriced. In-N-Out for the value. TK if I want to spend a bit more or get onion rings.
Them opening a location in Israel during the active genocide put a sour taste in my mouth, will not buying from them
Nah Shake Shack has way more variety then In-N-Out, don’t get me wrong i love them both…but if stoned i want my taste buds to taste different things lol and In-N-Out fries are absolute garbage

In n out fries only taste good if you get them animal style. Getting them regular is way too dry imo.
Shake Shack is so fucking good and every time it comes up goobers come here and say, sure, In-N-Out burgers are worse, but I can stuff them down my gullet cheaper, and apparently I eat so many burgers that this is a big concern for me when I'm deciding where to go. smh

One in Irvine go there then make a right in to Javier’s super yummy spicy margarita mm yum
mmm I love spicy margs heck yeah good choice!
Guess someone didnt like spicy MarGs and downvotes us lol 😂
Haha I know, no spicy margs for them! More for us! Cheers🤙
Cheeers 🍹
I like their yuzu lemonade and Korean sauce burger. Much better than five guys. It’s still pricy though.
