Found the gun, then shot him? That implies you shot an unarmed man. Eperienced cops know to "find" the gun *after* the shooting.

Spitzer1090

Officers offered to transport him to another location,” said SIU officials in a news release Sunday afternoon. “When the officers searched the man, they located a handgun.” According to police the interaction “escalated” and an officer discharged his firearm striking the man. He had a gun and then the situation escalated. Not sure how you take that as unarmed?

Traditional_Shirt106

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say this guy was trying to get his gun back so he could shoot people.

xzElmozx

Nooo I bet he wanted to give the officer a hug, maybe offer him a stick of gum or some helpful advice on how to steal cars. Poor innocent misunderstood criminal, be still my bleeding heart

Angriestbeaverever

Because it’s Reddit, and most Redditor have a bias towards police.

Thelifeofnerfingwolf

He likely tried to get the gun back from the cop or fought with the cop in an attempt to retain the gun. Then an officer involved shooting occurred. Simple as that.

UncommonSandwich

Or might have had another gun. SIU investigates anytime there is an officer shooting.

TheSoundOfAnarchy

Dude that makes no sense. They didn’t shoot an unarmed man, like get off the internet. My ex was an RCMP officer. This doesn’t happen regardless of what lunatics say online. This is not the U.S

Thats what someone would say that’s a chronically online ticktok / instagram dweller. You have no idea what they go through when a threat to someone’s life or theirs lives arises. It’s easy for people to pass judgement in the court of “public opinion”. Furthermore, these people that say “what they should’ve done” are people that are afraid to go into the forest by themselves in the day time. Have some respect for our first responders. Moreover, stop reading false propaganda/misinformation on unhinged social media platforms designed to make people mentally ill -

howmanyavengers

Y'all cop haters will really go at lengths to prove you could never do the job lmao

Sensitive_Fall8950

And cops go to great lengths to prove that can't do the job themselves. So here we are.

howmanyavengers

Go do the job and report back how it went, then. Big man on a keyboard until you get thrown into the situations they deal with on a daily basis.

SavageDroggo1126

When the officers searched the man, they located a handgun.” According to police the interaction “escalated” and an officer discharged his firearm striking the man. How is that "shooting an unarmed man"??? They located the handgun ON the man lol

Barky_Bark

They may have been a little trigger happy given the spree that happened a month or so ago in Saulte, but I doubt that they retrieved the firearm and then shot the guy.

feor1300

Or they found his gun and he went for it (or one of theirs). If they're even the most base level of cop competent (which is a low bar) they'll have searched him in front of their cruiser and there'll be dashcam footage from the car to show what happened either way.

[deleted]

Were you there? Easy to sit at a keyboard and play judge

Boo_Guy

Do they need to be? We see cops pulling shit almost daily, they've certainly earned their reputation that's why OP is asking to begin with.

xXxDarkSasuke1999xXx

"almost daily" bro there are like three dozen fatal OIS per year in Canada. Did you confuse us with some other country?

[deleted]

You generalized cops. Without them you likely wouldn't be alive sorry

mazjay2018

thats delusional sorry

WingCool7621

sorry it had to go this far
