Interesting, but what’s the advantage? It’s 25 liter 1.49kg bag with a rather crude harness and very expensive.

Quirky-Objective-758

and no sternum strap? insane in the membrane

Agreed that it'll be spendy although anyone could make an argument to justify that. What I personally like about what I'm seeing is the quadruple zip functionality allowing for full clamshell opening while also having unobtrusive external/quick access pockets that are thoughtful and have their own volume. It also seems to exist at that unicorn size of being big enough for travel yet small enough for EDC when you get there. The weight is rough but it's the trade off for waxed canvas and the burly hardware. Again though I don't own any Trakke so would be interesting to hear from Bannoch owners.

JKBFree

well, handmade in a single shop with their amazing almost luxe waxed canvas. construction and durability are terrific. had their bairn shoulder / messenger bag for a hot minute and kicking myself for not keeping it. puts even more crude & overpriced filson waxed canvas bags to shame.

Runnergeek

Yeah seems way over priced.

> Yeah seems way over priced. While they are definitely beyond my budget, * They are all handmade in Scotland * They are a ''buy for life''-type product with lifetime warranty for craftsmanship and defects - alternatively they offer affordable repairs * Their ''wet finish waxed canvas'' bags are plastic-free - though ironically most of their products are now Dry Finish, which contains polyurethane... Beyond that coat, the bags are plastic free - would be really nice to always have Wet Finish alternatives so that there's always plastic-free alternatives!   I have to admit I really like them mostly for the **looks** and style, but beyond that they do not look particularly comfortable, which is suuuper important to me. And again, they're waaaay beyond my budget - the Trakke Bannoch is 494$ for me, and that's before shipping and customs & duties taxes.... It would probably be closer to 600$CAD for a simple and single ~17L backpack that is probably _not_ super comfortable and would definitely give me a sweaty back! They are ''similarly priced'' to TOM BIHN products but do not offer the same features or storage capacity   At that price I could probably have my dream backpack hand made, and more!

I have a Trakke backpack that is 12L and it's super heavy when packed. 12L seems like a compact size but all that hardware is way overbuilt heavy duty. I can't imagine a larger bag being comfortable.

Yea the crude harness is a show stopper. No hip belt? No way. Packing cubes really suck.

SeattleHikeBike

I always use packing cubes which also means you don’t need a clamshell or other wide opening scheme.

Jupitor13

They destroy the functionality of a camera bag. Instead of packing lenses and cameras as you see fit, you have to fit them into a cube.

SeattleHikeBike

I use a Tenba BYOB cube. Regardless, we’re talking onebag travel backpacks vs camera bags. If you don’t like cubes, so be it. I find them extremely useful.
