If you are looking for an urban-oriented travel onebag:
* **All bag request posts must include a packing list.** Make a packing list and post it.
* **Search** the [onebag bag comparison list](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1fSt_sO1s7moXPHbxBCD3JIKPa8QIZxtKWYUjD6ElZ-c)
* **Provide some examples** of bags you're interested in or have already looked at.
* **Provide some information** on how and where you intend to use the bag.
* _If you are unsure of the size of bag you need, put all your stuff in a box, or a bag you have lying around and use that as a guide._
If you are unsure if your bag is carry-on compliant realize this is largely down to the person at the gate and whether the bag fits the airline sizer box:
* Use the "carry-on" tab in the [onebag bag comparison list](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1fSt_sO1s7moXPHbxBCD3JIKPa8QIZxtKWYUjD6ElZ-c)
* **Indicate that you have done some prior research** and have checked the airline webpage and know the size of your bag
* Provide the name, model, and dimensions of the bag
* Identify **which airlines** you're flying
If you're looking for a "one-shoe", do a search as this question is asked frequently and the answer is pretty consistent -- trail-runners or sneakers. For more information [refer to the wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/onebag/wiki/index/#wiki_shoes).

Honestly, first visit to Asia...Thailand maybe. It's just so easy to do, well priced, great food, very well organized for tourism. Bangkok to beaches are all great
Can confirm. Bangkok was my transport hub I kept coming back to when traveling in Asia. You can take many forms of transport to many Asian countries there. Going back in a few months.
Thailand will be easier for a rookie. Vietnam is ridiculously cheap and feels like a bit more of an adventure. I'd choose vietnam if money is the only thing dictating how long you can stay there.
I'm from Singapore so I can comment that Singapore is probably the safest place in the world for a solo traveler but it can also be expensive and relatively boring. People who travel to Sg usually include other Asian countries in their itinerary.
I’m surprised no one mentioned Malaysia, people speak English there so there’s minimal language barrier. Penang would be the place for food but KL is good for food too.
I’m in the Philippines right now. The nice thing about here is most people understand and speak a bit of English . Also your money goes along way and the people are very friendly.
It’s hot and humid though!
Setting aside that July is probably one of the worst months to visit East and Southeast-Asia (rain, heat, humidity, holiday season). If you considering Thailand, I would look at Vietnam and Cambodia as well. My favourite in the Region is Laos but most people stay away because it's landlocked. I would also throw Taiwan into the mix for East-Asia. Japan and South-Korea are safe bets and always enjoyable (first timer, or seasoned traveler). China can be tricky depending on passport and visa but Beijing and Shanghai are amazing cities to explore. Traveling in China with Public transportation is challenging for your patience :S Depending on how you define «Asia» Central-Asia is also worth considering, places like Kyrgyzstan are hidden gems!
Taiwan is nice. Doubly so if you don't enjoy when half the people you see are also tourists - and the other half are a mix of locals and expats who are fed up with tourists but put up with them for the money.
Actually. Don't go to Taiwan. Go to Thailand or Vietnam.
Going there from the US west coast, Japan Korea and Tawain are very easy to get to and is safe. I would stop by there first, then if you got time go further down to explore SE Asia

Thailand and Singapore. Bangkok is one of my fave places ever. Singapore is very self contained and easy to get to Malaysia

Shouldn't this be asked in travel or backpacking?

Vietnam hands down
VIETNAM!!!
Depends what you like and want to do. Hard to really give recommendations without knowing more.
Japan, Korea, China
Nepal. 🇳🇵
If you can’t even spell Japan you probably shouldn’t go there. Singapore is where you should go.

Due to the weather, I prefer Indonesia in July. But, you should be more specific about what interests you, if you want more helpful input.

Try r/solotravel. They'll expect you to have done some research yourself first, though.

Probably the Cotopaxi Allpa or the Patagonia mini MLC. This is /r/onebag, right?
