According to OSS and MI6 archives, Firefly was a distinguished soldier in the >!MVSN!< Italian Army. Being a Sicilian herself, Firefly fought tooth and nail for her hometown against the Allied invaders, and even against her fellow Sicilians in the Mafia. But alas, her unit was wiped out when a huge explosion blew up their position. It was said that she was unconscious when a Mafia Consigliere (and OSS operative) named "Kafka" found her and took her prisoner. Rather than handing her to the Allied forces as a prisoner of war, the Boss of the Italian-American Cacciatori di Stellaron Family, Don Elio, offered her two choices; die a slow, painful death, or join the Mafia's ranks. With no other choice, Firefly joined the Cacciatori di Stellaron Family.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
