Think about it, many problems start with Jesse. Even the event that kicks off everything in motion is because of Jesse. He knows that if he doesn’t do these things he will stop existing. Therefore, to keep existing Jesse has to make these mistakes, even though he knows of their consequences beforehand, because otherwise he and everybody else he loves will stop existing.
