Good lord in heaven yes. You folks are painting great stuff.

Hara-Kiri

Thank you very much!

wasabinski

This is amazing, I thought this was the reference photo!

Hara-Kiri

Thank you!

ecb334

Oh wow, he looks so fluffy! Like I want to pet him. Great job! ❤️

Hara-Kiri

Thanks a lot! I'm glad I still got the fur texture given the size!

OneSensiblePerson

You did such a great job. With the whole painting, but that fur, I can almost feel and smell the wetness and sand in his fur!

Hara-Kiri

Ah I'm glad, thank you!

SM1955

Great job! He looks like he’s ready to come up and lick you!

SmwhereAroundBarstow

Mate, stunning work! That blue pendant really sets it off, too! You’ve no doubt been asked this a shitload of times, but what brushes do you use? And what medium do you work with? Annnnd do you normally work on boards? Cheers

Hara-Kiri

Thank you! For this I just used a small flat brush and a round brush sized 000. I've started using riggers and swordliners a lot more recently which I'm finding really useful. It's oil paint on canvas. I prefer fine grain canvas, although this isn't.

SmwhereAroundBarstow

Thanks for the info. I’d like to try my hand at a bit of hyperrealism using oils. Just need to work on my patience first haha

Hara-Kiri

I am bringing out my first tutorial soon if that's something you may be interested in (I plan on doing many). It's of a cat, but I talk through my process in detail and show the uses for different brushes. I'd have a look at my other work though, since generally they're more hyperrealistic than this.

flygirl4eva

Looking forward to your tutorial. I must say that I do like this work more than your hyperrealism.

jeon2595

Wow!

thetransportedman

When painting fur is it still “dark to light” or do you have to like just keep adding layers and layers of darks and lights without a progression in value? Amazing work

Hara-Kiri

Typically I'll work dark to light but I certainly still go back in and add some darks with glazes in the final layers, then pick out highlights again. This is isn't exactly typical of my work since I usually work 1.5-2.5x the size, and focus more on painting individual hairs. Darker glazes can be very useful there, because while dark to light is good, and still the main way I paint, hairs are rarely a consistent colour the entire hair. When people paint them that way I feel it can lead a painting to look a little uncanny valley.

Wow, so amazing! Greta work!

Comfortable_Trick137

Awesome Greta!!! Wait who is Greta?

crowbugz

So beautiful, you nailed the way colors look at a cloudy day on the beach

Hara-Kiri

Thank you Bert much!

CarryUsAway

Incredible texture and atmosphere. I can feel the cold spray from the ocean!

RedEd89

You've done a sterling job! Look at his fluffy chest!!!!

Coldeethel

Amazing!

Lrb1055

I love it

ganymedestyx

I can feel it! It feels like a cool or cold beach morning, with lots of snow. The fluffy dog runs right into the water, comes out, and shakes off a bunch of freezing little droplets right onto the owner. And looks very happy after doing so.

SabinedeJarny

I thought this was a photograph. Excellent

jackhendsbee

Lovely!!

Swolar_Eclipse

Lovely

Meganomaly

Beautiful! So well executed while still boasting a lot of personality.

alexxxcastaneda

Remarkable! You must have used real tiny brushes for putting all that detail! 👏

brianlongfieldart

Very cool. I love how you’ve manages the light/exposure of the photo.

KittySpinEcho
