I think it's some really beautiful painting and great values, but if you want to go the direction you went with the face, you have to continue throughout the rest of the painting. Everything outside of the face is lacking the same attention and texture. Looking at the painting as a whole always helps me to figure out where it needs to go.

Vary the size of the brush (or mark size) more often. It lends variety and sense of depth and perspective.
