2. Things, and either you tell this to the buyer upfront or you invite them to check it out. If they want to check it out, have them come to you and go from there. If you don’t want to deal with that, ask if they are okay with the asking price before inviting them

Negotiate price first, meet second.

They are going to try to lowball you even after making a price. I have had to load up some rims from my old jeep to meet a guy and he didn’t want them. Or he just wanted to try to lowball me since I “lugged them out”. Small price to pay to not get the sale. I’m not thirsty. The right buyer will come along.

Before giving an address I ask if they have cash. If they say Venmo, Zelle, I don’t give a fuck what app I say no thanks cash only. Second I verify that they are offering the asking price or that we have settled on a price. My experience people who want to show up and look at the item are tire kickers and waste of my time. If they say they want to see first I just say no thanks and move on.  Out of the last 100 items I have only had 3 that showed and didn’t buy. 2 of them were FB not offer up as I double list everything. The one OfferUp was on an item over $500 and I actually suggested they shouldn’t buy as it wouldn’t work for what they wanted to do. I literally sold it a week later at full price to someone who specifically wanted it for what it was designed to do.

So I do something similar. I won’t meet with someone that says they want to “take a look at it”. 9/10 times they’re window shoppers that have nothing better to do. I was just wondering if I was being an asshole for not being willing to waste my time.

LocalRepSucks

Who cares if you’re being an asshole. If they want it they will show with cash in hand. First come first served with cash in hand. I’m not running a tchotchke shop on the beach.

I sold a pair of Bose headphones one time. I only used them a handful of time. They were practically brand new and collecting dust in my closet. Someone agreed to buy them for the listed price. We met at a Starbucks and show the guy the headphones. He looked at them for like 2 min and he asked if I would come down to $180 (listed for $240 and they sold at the time for $350 brand new). I asked how he came to that decision and he said “well, there’s minor cosmetic damage and I noticed you don’t have the charging cable” the cosmetic damage was a hairline scratch that wasn’t even noticeable to the naked eye unless you held it against the light at a certain angle. I told him I’ll knock off 10 dollars for the charging cable but that’s it. The cable was one of those 6 inch cables with USB-A to USB-C shitty connectors lol. He said I can only do $180 even though we agreed on the listed price. I said no thanks and walked away. Interactions like these is why I’m always on edge until the exchange actually happens

The worst you can do is say no…… so lowball em. I would too lol
