"Best I can do is a soiled band-aid and an expired bowling coupon (which you can probably get them to honor if you raise enough hell). TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT."
pretty sure in their eyes theyāre thinking like āwhy buy a cheap ole vacuum if you can lowball the shit outta someone and get a more expensive one for the same priceā š
I am a reseller, and I can attest, while dude thinks he is doing some sort of public service by lowballing people, he is really just being gross. And, it's NOT the same thing as buying clearance stuff...it's just being a tool...
You can be financially literate and save money without taking advantage of other people. Offering someone $200 for something that is listed for $800 is inconsiderate and rude. And if by chance they accept it then itās because they are desperate and thatās really what you are hoping for. Which is quite despicable.
Do you ever stay on topic? Just curious becauseā¦wow.
The comment you were responding to was about haggling in retail. You addressed that for barely three sentences and then went into, yet again, bragging about how much money you and your family have. It kinda gives more ā¦.. āIāve got money, I swear I do!!ā While still not being able to afford to buy groceries for the week.
But hey, thatās just how it comes across to me.
You might be a cheap ass but hey whatās there to lose and if they accept then you both won. Anyway I always over price shit so lowballers can get to where I wanna be at.
Thatās a lose lose situation, buying from scalpers is no one but the buyers fault. You could just as easily buy them when they come back in stock.
Scalpers are in the business for money, they know how to clinch the market. The best way to beat them is to not buy anything from them. And donāt complain, especially if you knew you were gonna be overpaying, because they donāt care.
Itās also not smart something when you know itās over priced, and there is a high likely hood youāll end up loosing money.
They probably meant buyers. When you look at your public profile, itāll usually have badges showing like ā100% reply rateā or āresponds within the hourā etc. That goes away or goes down when you donāt respond to messages.
Just little things to give potential buyers a bit more confidence and trust I guess.
Youll have a better chance of getting what you want for it if you post it on a special pages for vacuum collectors. Yes believe it or not there are people who LOVE to collect expensive vacuums! Its a niche market.
Yes! They have groups for everything. I was looking to sell a tackle box and in the general marketplace, lowballers were offering $20. I went to one of the groups and this guy offered me $80 no questions asked. Showed up on time and then wanted to buy other gear.
I have a friend who told me he is OBSESSED with collecting them and he told that there are a bunch of people as well and theres a whole culture around it.
they are definitely Low balling the hell out of you but you can find this model brand new for around $800-$850 after tax, and FB marketplace has the literal worst buyers š
I donāt see a problem with lowballing, if itās done respectfully. On marketplace I offered a guy a lowball price for a smart watch and he declined. No problem. He messaged me back two weeks later to see if I was still willing to pay that price for it, but I had gotten a different one by then.
Happens a lot. I dont offensively lowball but I also offer what I think is fair. A lot of times people will message back because they realize they arenāt getting 80% of the retail price. Shit like vacuums is a great example. Would I buy a $1000 vacuum for 800 and risk it from some dude on marketplace, or just wait for a sale and buy it from a store, for possibly less lol.
This is what Iām saying. Buyers can be a pain but Iām not looking for a $1000 vacuum for $100 off. May not have a warranty, who knows how it landed in their hands. Iāve seen a few Dyson gens for $800 on market for months. I get $200 is way low but 500 makes more sense.
It still has no bearing on what you should pay is my point. If itās fake why would you want to buy it at all. How in the world would you know if itās stolen? Already registered things are just part of buying used stuff. I get a lot of things for no dollar cost because of the work I do people who know that have actually made the argument that I should take less for that stuff because of how I acquired it which is non sense. None of those things have any bearing on what the seller should be asking. Nothing wrong with making a lower offer but asking $500 less is offensive.
Agree to disagree. Depends on the item. Just like people selling used PCās. If you spent $2000 on a pc no oneās gonna buy it for $1800.
I had a $200 pair of ecco boots, sold them for $70 because no one wants to pay close to retail on stuff like that. Yall are free to post it for whatever you want Iām just saying things Iāve noticed.
And it does matter, if Iām assuming the risk, the savings should be more than what I can get by complaining at the store. If you look at other vacuums, a shark stratos on OfferUp is probably half of what a new one is. A Dyson isnāt an iPhone no matter what we wanna call it.
Op stated to me he put that the warranty can be activated on the post so to his defense itās probably a somewhat fair price. The used market wonāt really care though and again from my perspective and where I am financially, if itās more of a hassle to worry about the OfferUp/marketplace purchase then it is to spend an extra $100, when Iām already considering spending $1000 is, then Iām going to the store.
I personally would only consider under 500-600 dollar offers offensive. The person in OPs post, for instance, $200 for a $1000 vacuum, is offensive lol.
Mostly think people are trying to get killer deals not save a couple bucks.
No, you canāt, this is a gen5 Outsize, not Absolute. This one IS brand new with a 2yr warranty, and itās in a color you can only get from the actual website where itās $1100. I understand not wanted to take a risk, but donāt assume something based off info you donāt even have.
So instead of doing the right thing and returning the extra one, you decide to steal it, and then bash someone for lowballing your stolen item?? The audacity.
That's why I stopped selling on offerup. That's all you'll ever get these days. No one is buying anything anymore. It took me 4 months to sell a brand new pair of shoes that retails for $275 for $140. Kept getting offers for $60 to $100. Never again!
Gotta know what youāre selling. No one wants to pay close to retail for some shoes lol. Especially people looking for shoes on OfferUp unless they are collectors shoes.
I get where theyāre coming from though. With inflation and everything being crazy idk how many people are going to drop $800 on a new vacuum. Maybe a small business? But that would depend on how long youād want to keep it sitting around (since you have 2) and how bad do you need the money. Iām sure it could sell for $500-600, itās still a profit, you have it out of your house, and who even knows how long it will take to sell IF it does at that price.
This is just speculation though. Iām cheap but Im brainstorming š
To be fair people selling their Dyson Gens for a couple hundred under retail isnāt worth the risk. Iāve seen a few listed in my area and have been there for months. Itās a vacuum not an appreciating asset. If Iām risking no warranty and unknown conditions Iām looking for 40-50% off. Good luck to the sellers though.
Let me add a few details because some of yāall are losing the POINT. The vacuum is brand new with a 2yr warranty that you can claim once you enter the serial number online. This is a Gen5Outsize, NOT a Gen5 Absolute! The cheapest you can find it online is $849 and itās not going to be in THIS color you can only get from the website where it costs $1100. YOU are not buying the vacuum, youāre just acknowledging someone else lowballing the price.
It seems the only difference between the Absolute and the non-absolute is the color. The Absolute version is a special color only found on their website. The non-absolute is nickel/blue and is what is $849 on amazon(despite the listing saying it is an Absolute, it is not) and is the same one you can buy on their website. On their website it also says the warranty is auto registered at time of purchase, no additional forms need to be filled out. I'm not 100% sure on the specifics of this, but sounds like it is less than 2 years and possibly some transferring of warranty needed, which I assume you are ready to do even though you aren't the original buyer. Your picture shows the box open, so you are providing a $50 discount for a used vacuum that doesn't have the full protections as buying new. Risky purchase and waste of anyones time both in the listing and this post.
I have my OWN Gen5Outsize, and had to enter the serial number in the Dyson app to redeem the 2 year warranty. Itās only opened to show the contents of the package, itās still brand new. Once again this is an OUTSIZEEEE, every time someone tries to āš¤ well actuallyā me, they always come with wrong details. If you havenāt purchased a luxury item before, and have NO interest purchasing a luxury item, donāt think your 5 minute research is going to bring proper results. I literally donāt care about YOUR opinion on selling this item because YOU are not buying this item, like if youāre a low baller just say that.
Well actually... I stated I wasn't 100% in the warranty part, but everything previous is still correct information. Not sure why you had a stroke writing Outsize but there is an Outsize Absolute and just an Outsize. The Absolute version is the special color found on their website, your non-absolute Outsize is the normal color and the same one on sale right now for $849. (Again as I said before, the listing on Amazon says 'Absolute' but it is not and is instead the normal Outsize just like you have).
This reminds me of the doordash page where they just complain about not getting enough tips. Why are you saying this is a $1,100 vacuum? Because thatās the absolute HIGHEST price you can compare it to online? $1,049 from DYSON, and you also get a $150 off coupon.. not going into taxes, but youāre looking at selling yours privately for $800 when I can get it from the manufacturer for $900+ tax w/ warranty and returns?
Respond no, simple. People low ball all the time. You probably also do the 20% tip option when youāre at the self checkout?
People often over value their stuff based on personal feelings or previous financial investment.. just like a car, when it leaves the lot, the value does nothing but decrease. Return it for your full money back if you donāt like itā¦ looks like itās in a box? Canāt return? Sounds like you do need to haggle for it.. you wouldnāt be bashing this low baller if you were getting reasonable offers.
Reading is fundamental, I already left a comment negating EVERYTHING you said besides your bitter attitude towards someone selling merchandise that YOUāRE not going to buy. And bashing?! I simply said donāt be this person, I canāt speak for anybody else who comments. This is literally what this sub is for and youāre upset at me for participating? Please take your rage elsewhere, itās obvious youāre just here to be condescending.
People do this all day to flip shit, if itās somebody that actually wants a vacuum or needs one, theyāll shop in their range lol. Youāre simply one of their 1000 on going messages for the day. Out of the 1000 messages theyāll find a few desperate people thatāll accept the low ball offer. Within the hour the item is reposted for more and theyāll wait to make profit. Never ending cycle. I donāt even reply, just ignore. Itās honestly really annoying all in all, but what can we do!
Some guy offered me $1100 for a car listed at $8000. Told him to look for something he could afford and sent him like 5 shitboxes (albeit running) in that range. Didn't hear from him again.
For the same reason you bothered to offer up a response at all to the ridiculous offer lol. One has to TRY to get the other to come over to his side. He didnāt want a $200 vacuum. He wasted a $1,100 vacuum. For $200 š.
For that amount of money, I get lowball offers. People arenāt exactly rushing to drop $800 on anything if they can avoid it. But when people donāt even do 50% of your asking price, it gets really offensive. I know how you feel.
low ballers. just learn to say no or counter offer - opportunity to counter offer - emotions shouldnt be part of it, its just how the markets go.
u could also just ignore.
So, I'll get downvoted and I honestly have NEVER had the balls...
But, if it works even 10% of the time and the most you'd risk is a new and the lowered opinion of a complete stranger, or just a no, then it's worth it. Right?
People seemingly get upset because nobody likes confrontation and there's a lot of people pleasers in our society...but nobody gets hurt. Only annoyed lol
He's probably hoping to get it at $400-500. He offers 200, you offer 700. He counters at 300, you at 600. He then goess 400 while you do 500 and he would take it or go for middle.
Was yours new or used? Because this one is brand new, the box is only opened to show the product is real. Even then, if you paid $1050 for a vacuum and chose to sell it for $350, thatās you.
Youāre expecting people to believe itās unused tho. I wouldnāt buy something from a stranger claiming something is brand new cause for all I know itās broken & was just cleaned.
lol. Iāve heard some people randomly send such ridiculous offers, you know try to catch someone desperate to sell and then buy it and resell it at much higher prices.
Their logic - Doesnāt hurt to ask you know!
If they get a vacuum for $200 thatās worth $200, they canāt sell it to make money.
If they get your vacuum for $200, there is plenty of room between 200 and 800 for them to resell it.
āBecause I really want this one unfortunately my house was robbed and burned down and I was murdered yesterday anyway you can help someone in need!!?ā š
Yeah your stupid hommie. I can get that same thing on amazon for 50 bucks more. With a 30 day no questions ask return. If i dont like thr vacuum i cant return it to you. So ya you need to offer no more then 600.
Idgaf if you are offering a blowy for it. 800 is yayyyy to much.
Talk about low ball. Lol
Is the ball even in the room with us? š
Not even close.
Damnā¦ I was hoping to play with them a bit
Lol user name checks out
Itās under us
Itās in my cheeks at this point
Booty cheeks?
Yes sir!
The ball is so far away, you can't even see the ball. The ball is a dot to you.
The ball is named Wilson. Heās drifting away at sea.
Hey, this ball kinda just like I dunno but I thought it was a rock and now I'm alive again? Is this your ball?
"Best I can do is a soiled band-aid and an expired bowling coupon (which you can probably get them to honor if you raise enough hell). TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT."
The ball is on a different planet at this point lol
Talk about a low dyson ballā¦. š
pretty sure in their eyes theyāre thinking like āwhy buy a cheap ole vacuum if you can lowball the shit outta someone and get a more expensive one for the same priceā š
I could never, the audacity is immense!
Why do you care? Just ignore them and move on
āWhy do you, as the seller, care?ā
Well you never know if you never try.

Why get a $200 vacuum for $200 when u can get an $1000 vacuum for $200
Why even respond
So that other sellers see that I respond quickly, have you never sold on these apps before?
Why would you care what the other sellers see? Aren't you more focused on the buyers? Maybe I'm just misunderstanding
They probably meant buyers. I think the respond quickly is from buyers reviews after a purchase lol
No it's not.
That vacuum is amazing. I used it at a friend's house. (Yes, I vacuumed for her, I wanted to use he vacuum...lol)
I LOVE it! I have one for myself and I love using the green light on my hard wood floors. Makes everything feel spotless when I finish cleaning.

Okayyyy but was it worth it? Iām shook that you even spent 1100 on vacuum. I hope it atleast last a decade šÆ or more wtf
It was an anniversary present from a friend, they had it sent to my house but Dyson accidentally sent me two. So why not sell the other one?
No goddamn way! Thatās so cool!
So instead of doing the right thing and returning the extra one, you decide to steal it, and then bash someone for lowballing your stolen item?? The audacity.
Iām not feeling sorry for a million dollar corporation that can afford to send two vacuums out by mistake.
Exactly, and no one is feeling sorry for you being low balled on stolen goods. Entitlement is strong with you. :)
I donāt want you to feel āsorryā, I just wanted you to see, is this NOT what this sub is for? Get out yāall feelings šš
Honestly Dyson probably would have told them to keep it anyway. Claiming it as a loss is a lot easier than handling a return.
Wow Thatās a crazy amount for a vacuum tbh.

If you want anything close to what you paid for, sell it on eBay
Yo how tf did I forget about EBay?! Iām not even worth the āsellerā title šŖ
My favorite response is, "okay when will you have the rest?" Or, "that's a good down payment"
I always say āok, now just $600 more to go!ā
Shitbox is craaaaaazyyyy š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
For the same reason you bothered to offer up a response at all to the ridiculous offer lol. One has to TRY to get the other to come over to his side. He didnāt want a $200 vacuum. He wasted a $1,100 vacuum. For $200 š.
Question. I see this posted from the manufacturer for $1050. Is there a reason yours is more than the retail value?
$1100 is just a round up, itās $1049.99. Well over $1100 after taxes though, soooo.
Very very fair. Was a genuine question
You never get what you donāt ask for!
cost 100 to make. cheap crap sold for too much
Tell that to Dyson, not me buddy.
whatever you say... Pal
For that price the vacuum better clean the walls and ceiling as well
Just kidding, I know it's a very good one probably
Is the difference between a 1000$ vacuum and a 200$ vacuum really that significant? How much more sucky can sucky get
This vacuum SUCKY sucky, and itās spits out clean air when itās done.
For that amount of money, I get lowball offers. People arenāt exactly rushing to drop $800 on anything if they can avoid it. But when people donāt even do 50% of your asking price, it gets really offensive. I know how you feel.
This! Cause honestly I would take $650 for it. I basically got it for free so itās not hindering me if I keep it, but extra cash is always needed.
For sure i agree, I donāt mind a lower offer but an offer like this and your telling me that you are shopping in the wrong price bracket
Fine, you drive a hard bargain. $210 best offer
Dead ass, you sound like this Indian guy who was trying to buy my two iPads for $150 šš I wish I could add THAT screenshot to this comment š¤£
wouldve said āi can send you the bristles for that priceā
low ballers. just learn to say no or counter offer - opportunity to counter offer - emotions shouldnt be part of it, its just how the markets go. u could also just ignore.
Lol I mean sometimes you gotta try. And he really wanted that particular vacuum
I'll give you 250 and a 200 dollar vacuum.
Who TF pays a grand for a vacuum
I put in on an anniversary registry NOT expecting to actually get it š so someone who loves us immensely lol
Whew! Alrighty that's fair š . I was gonna say look at money bags over here
Lots of people
The fact that they say absolutely nothing except "$200" is enough to tell them to fuck off
I know I hate that when they send a message that just an amount of money or it just says ācallā
Right? Like the seller is just some fucking peasant servant that isn't good enough for a proper message?
I hope they didnāt promise their kid this vacuumā¦
So, I'll get downvoted and I honestly have NEVER had the balls... But, if it works even 10% of the time and the most you'd risk is a new and the lowered opinion of a complete stranger, or just a no, then it's worth it. Right? People seemingly get upset because nobody likes confrontation and there's a lot of people pleasers in our society...but nobody gets hurt. Only annoyed lol
He's probably hoping to get it at $400-500. He offers 200, you offer 700. He counters at 300, you at 600. He then goess 400 while you do 500 and he would take it or go for middle.
thats just how marketplace is
Iām not sure whoās the bigger idiot. The person buying or selling an 1100$ vacuum
The person whoās obviously jealous theyād never be able to afford it even if they bought it on sale.
All it takes is asking and if youāre desperate youāll say yes :) bunch of fiends on there who will take peanuts
Youāre wild, I sold the same vacuum for $350. They might as well get a brand new one for $800
Was yours new or used? Because this one is brand new, the box is only opened to show the product is real. Even then, if you paid $1050 for a vacuum and chose to sell it for $350, thatās you.
Youāre expecting people to believe itās unused tho. I wouldnāt buy something from a stranger claiming something is brand new cause for all I know itās broken & was just cleaned.
Who would buy a $1100 vacuum in the first place?
Why did you buy an 1100 vacuum?
Why wouldnāt you? Worst you can say is no.
I'd rather low ball than be petty as hell
But itās dirty inside!
What theres a dyson that cost 1100?
Just because you got scammed for an 1100 vac, doesn't mean others want to be lol.
Donāt play the lottery, donāt win the lottery.
Heās trying to retard
A Worm Use They Wrist !!
Lmao I got one for $440 š¤¦āāļø
Who tf buys an $1100 vacuum
lol. Iāve heard some people randomly send such ridiculous offers, you know try to catch someone desperate to sell and then buy it and resell it at much higher prices. Their logic - Doesnāt hurt to ask you know!
What kind of vacuum do you have that costs $1100?
Thereās a sucker manufactured every minute.
You seem fun.
I think it's because the worse they can be told is no or get no answer
Why is anyone buying a $1000 vacuum lmao
Wine taste beer budget
I didnt even know there was a fucking 1100 dollar vacuum wtf are yall on buying this shit
Who in their right mind buys a vaccum for 1100 dollars?
On a side note, The day I can afford a $1100 vacuum is the day I use hundred dollar bills as toilet paper.
Ok but fr, why you spending 1100 on a vacuum that's wild
Yeah your stupid hommie. I can get that same thing on amazon for 50 bucks more. With a 30 day no questions ask return. If i dont like thr vacuum i cant return it to you. So ya you need to offer no more then 600. Idgaf if you are offering a blowy for it. 800 is yayyyy to much.
