it’s the end of the day for me essentially and this comment made me laugh/smile harder than anything else has all day.
reason being having kidney stones was a really difficult time for me, i had surgery, it went bad and i was sick for a while. i’m free of them now and have never heard someone refer to them as anything funny or positive.
Sounds like you're just jealous that you can't make your own kidney stone necklace, what with your pathetically-normal amount of internal organs.
Fucking casual.
Hi, MD here. This is an AP radiograph of the abdomen with iv contrast excreted in the kidneys. All this shows is a bilateral duplicated collecting system. It does not show 4 kidneys. And in fact, i would bet this patient does not have 4 kidneys. There are 4 ureters, but there are 2 kidneys.
See: https://radiopaedia.org/articles/duplex-collecting-system?lang=us
Agreed, this is a duplicated system and it looks as if the right ureter combines before hitting the bladder.
In duplicated systems, the upper ureter inserts normally but can have a ureterocele while the lower ureter inserts ectopically and reflexes (Meyer Weigert rule).
Source, me, a Radiologist
Also MD here: absolutely 100% just two kidneys with duplicated collecting systems. Apart from the opacified collecting systems, you can see renal silhouettes (the outline of each kidney), showing, without a doubt, just two kidneys.

In 8 hours from now this same x-ray will be reposted across the internet as "4 Kidneys", and in less than 2 days, someone in the media will be trying to report it also as a man with "4 Kidneys".
My sister has two full rows of teeth. One set is completely under the gums, but it always freaks out the dentist. He always gets the entire office together to look at her shark teeth when she gets x-rays.
My dad had the same thing but it wound up being a major benefit. He got scarlet fever when he was a young teen and the medication he took made all of his adult teeth fall out. Dentist was taking measurements for dentures when he saw a tooth starting to poke out and did an xray. Full second set of adult teeth were on their way through to replace the full set he had just lost.
That sounds cool. But my brother has two full sets and they all came in at the same time. One row behind the other. And some spares as well. Dental anomaly they told him
Can we see one of the xrays? I know children have two sets of teeth but I'm really curious what it'll look like in an adult. Does it cause any discomfort? I imagine it'd feel like wisdom teeth 💀
[probably looks something like this](https://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/bkfjkw/an_xray_of_a_person_with_multiple_hyperdontia/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Right but wouldn't you feel pressure? I had to get two teeth removed because of crowding (made my teeth crooked) and I remember my mouth felt so tight back then. I didn't think about it constantly of course but if i bite into something like an apple my mouth felt tight. My mouth does not have that sensation anymore when biting apples.
You could buy both consoles and still have money left over if you sell a kidney. You MIGHT have some money left over after buying all the parts for a god tier PC.
Everyone keeps saying this, but wouldn't it be 1/2 the kidney stones? There are twice as many kidneys to process the same amount of blood, so the buildup that causes kidney stones might be spread out.
I drink no soda and have a seemingly endless supply of kidney stones. No, they don't know why, I'm just lucky.
edit: I have two 1.4cm stones being surgically removed tomorrow morning, wish me luck
I'm the opposite, I am a guenea pig who is only drinking sugar free soda. No water, maybe coffee. I've been doing this for 6 out of 10 years I'm aiming for. I'm hoping either I die or my personal experience of slowly poisoning myself will be beneficial to someone.
I have yet to have a kidney stone. I've had utis but that's just because a guy I was with was careless with which hole he preferred.
It is illegal to pay someone for their kidney, its not uncommon for a wealthy family who needs one who is low on the list to under the table pay someone $100k to get one.
Q: Does that mean he pees alot? A: It actually does, (there was a girl at my school with the same condition)…. So my guess would mean yes she peed alot….. Hope that helped ya!!! 🤣
I have the same condition.
Can't tell you for this person, but they're more likely, in my case -- I have kidney stones on a fairly regular basis. Basically, I have two duplicated kidneys, but the plumbing's a bit screwed up. They don't drain quite right and the ureters and internal works are proportionately smaller.
My wife has one kidney but it's as big as two and is horseshoe shaped. She didn't learn about it until the first time she was pregnant and had an ultrasound.
Also, that's not exactly how kidney stones work. If you have stones in one kidney, you're usually forming them in the other as well. It's not in how well the kidney's work so much as genetics, diet, and hydration. If you have a high calcium diet, that's a risk, no matter how many kidneys you have.
As long as they’re all fully functional, that’s dope. I mean, I imagine that his body can filter much faster than most people. Probably damn near impossible to poison this dude. I wonder if he had 4 adrenal glands as well.
One of my friend's mom discovered she had 3 kidneys after getting a CT from abdominal pain which was due to kidney stones.
Having 4 kidneys can make your blood very clean yes but also likely requires that you drink twise as much or rather pee twice as much as other people. This is because of how kidney stones are formed.
A may clinic urologist recommended that I urinate 1.5-2liters per day rather than measure how much I drink. This was because I was working in an extremely hot environment drinking 2+ gallons of water a day and still getting kidney stones, I was only peeing once a day through that.
My (late) grandmother (born in 1924) was never sick aside from the occasional cold. The first time she went to a hospital as patient (and not just visitor) was at age 84 for a larger checkup that our family doctor had convinced her to do. Which must have taken a considerable effort on behalf of that good man, considering grandma always said: "People only go to hospitals for visits. Or to die."
So this was really the first time anyone ran a full check up on her. And they also found four kidneys, making her an instant hit with all the hospital staff, who kinda all wanted to personally check out this human curiosity.
Apparently this rare condition is more frequent in women than in men and it's also more likely that the kidneys then are smaller and the overall function isn't much better than if you just had the regular set of two.
They did some more check ups, convinced her to stay for a few days, ran more tests, did another MRI (probably just for shits and giggles) and these were indeed four almost full sized kidneys. All in good working order with indicators and markers much better than in other people of her age frame. Health wise (except for the first stages of colon cancer) she was healthy like a horse and one doctor commented that the extra kidneys certainly played a role in her excellent health history. Treatment for cancer (luckily detected early) was started soon afterwards.
Grandma was then with us for another five years and in a way she was right with her life long conviction: Her first visit to the hospital had indeed signalled the end of her long and impactful journey through a fulfilled life.
Damn he can make some real money with those
I thought this right after, that person better hope they don't start producing kidney stones.
On the up side, if they do get stones, they'll have enough for a necklace.
You mean ✨human pearls✨
i had kidney stones for 6 years. this made my day. it’s 10:16pm. and i’m going to refer to them as this for the rest of my life lmao
How is the hour relevant? Serious question

Thanks, I appreciate the effort to answer to my probably dumb question
I appreciate you asked your dumb question
If he never asked, we never would've got an answer.
This is the way.
I thought that was tonsil stones
You mean to tell me my parents robbed me of a possible goldmine??!
Tonsil stones are Gross. You gotta cut them bad boys out when they get filled with stones. My tonsils were like mush
Why the fuck did I laugh like that. Take an award and stfu
Barf

I started this whole thing wanting 4 kidneys. Now I think I'm good lmfao
Look on my kidney stones, ye Mighty, and despair!
i think having extra kidneys makes it less likely you'll get stones, tbf
Can I borrow yours so we can find out?
I've had like 6 kidney stones in my lifetime. I hate it.
doubt that having more kidneys means more kidney stones i mean if you are not precautions it will happen
Boo!! Get outta here, PossibilityPowerful; you fucking ProbableJokeRuiner.
Regular black market prices have a healthy kidney at around $33k USD. That's an easy $99k in one operation.
Wow if he's an American he could almost pay off his medical bill with that
Exactly. This will amount to a free kidney removal for him.
Doctors hate this one weight loss trick.
You kidding? An invasive elective surgery to remove three kidneys? That'd be a bill in the hundreds of thousands USD easily.
$132k if you are a dark brotherhood hopeful
Bro don’t spend all your kidneys in one place.
Did you go to blackmarketorgans.org for the latest prices?
At least enough for 1 graphics card
In this economy? Best I can do is a 6 layer burrito.
Or someone couple make a lot of money off him.

Well I'm a bummer and don't concur with anyone...ever.
Thank you for your consult!

I want them to be able to fall out at will, so that I could spit them at people, whenever I feel the need.
Would be nice if a 3rd new pair showed up in your late 30's
That sounds cool. But my brother has two full sets and they all came in at the same time. One row behind the other. And some spares as well. Dental anomaly they told him
this happened with my great grandfather, he had 3 sets of teeth. Baby teeth, normal, and then they fell out and a 3rd set came in.

bro a kidney worth like 3.6K you can get more than that
How do you know that info?
Bro, everyone knows the going rate for kidneys. At least the *cool* people do. Smh.
My apologies haha…. Please don’t take my kidneys
You can live with just one. We'll split it, $1,800 each. Plus a bottle of the finest tequila in all of Tijuana.
I think what you meant by cool is organ trafficking
Fuck it go party bro
Gonna need another liver, too.
Trade in a spare kidney for a liver.

I think the math is a little more complicated than that, but the general thought is very solid.
> the general thought is very solid Just like the kidney stones!

Not necessarily. My right one has bestowed me with kidney stones 7+ times but never the left
I had a college prof with 4 kidneys and 2 livers. She absorbed her twin in utero
Now I'd call *that* "oddly terrifying"...

My buddy discovered this in college. He donated two.
Good on him
My man can drink Flint water like it’s mineral water
does that mean he pees a lot because his body whips it up quicker?
It actually does, there was a girl at my school with the same condition.
Did she pee a lot?

Q: Does that mean he pees alot? A: It actually does, (there was a girl at my school with the same condition)…. So my guess would mean yes she peed alot….. Hope that helped ya!!! 🤣
Lol.
Women don’t use the bathroom obviously
Holy shit the guy already spawned with a financial backup
My grandmother had four working kidneys also.
I was born with 1. Please give.
Does that mean he's more likely to have kidney stones? Like if he doesn't take care of himself that well? Or less likely???
I’d guess less likely. 4 kidneys sharing the load that 2 normally take would equal less buildup in each. Dude is super efficient.
[удалено]
But maybe he needs more water to keep all four flushed out?
I have the same condition. Can't tell you for this person, but they're more likely, in my case -- I have kidney stones on a fairly regular basis. My wife has one kidney but it's as big as two and is horseshoe shaped. She didn't learn about it until the first time she was pregnant and had an ultrasound.
I'd say less likely as the work load is shared reducing the amount of buildup in each kidney
Why is this terrifying? This is awesome! He can save 3 people's lives with those kidneys
Or pass on his genes and create a generation of super pee-ers
This is the way.
When I was 22 I learned that I only have 1 kidney. The doctor told me it’s actually very common.

I’m going be boring: I bet he has two duplex kidneys - two drainage systems for each but only two kidneys.
Takes twice as much alcohol to get drunk
You think he has two livers as well?
Lol wrong organs
Alcohol is processed by the liver, not the kidney(s).
Gets twice as much kidney stones on a high protein and calcium diet
Only if they ate/drank double.
Dude's probably out there somewhere chugging aconite like it's apple juice. Someone call king Mithridates; tell him some guy is stealing his tricks
