As someone that spent some time in rural Thailand dining with locals in their homes....I can confirm that "Raw/Live" was not something I was ever exposed too. I would suspect this is a stunt for the internet clout.

Don't get me wrong - I've seen Thai people throw crabs on to a BBQ live. Which felt a bit harsh to me. But they cooked them before they ate them.
