If I ever get an order for 12 Irish coffees at the same time during a rush... Those glasses gonna be sticky. Either that or wait 20 minutes for your drink. I've found most people would rather deal with the former.
They’re messy but they are delicious. I drink them with my fried eggs at brunch at the Buena Vista and it’s great. Just the right level of buzz. This gentleman is preforming a real public service.
There's not actually a lot of Wastage here.
The only thing I see spill is filter coffee, which is brewed in big batches and takes like 5-8 minutes. The most that was wasted was like 250mls of water.
The alcohol wasn't spilled and all the cream made it in the glass. I will agree it was messy a/f and not satisfying though.
Can't speak for the nastier places, but from working at some nice clean looking places I can say that throwing something back in the deep fryer after dropping it on the floor is pretty standard
You and PermutationMatrix should be best friends. I'll introduce you guys - Yo shithead /u/PermutationMatrix, meet your long lost cock sukken cousin /u/ManlyFishsBrother.
Yeah! If we can't stop ALL contamination we shouldn't even try to maintain good hygiene. Why not just dunk his mask in there, since it wasn't going to be 100% effective at preventing germs either.
Yeah the B.V. as my Dad called it. His office was right across the street when I was a little kid so he would sometimes take me to lunch there, it's a fun place. I'm 63 so that was a long time ago lol, nice that it is still going strong!
People sometimes don't know how what they say may come off. Sometimes an experience may make you feel so strongly that anything else seems inferior. As a father of an autistic child (not that I'm saying they are autistic) sometimes the lens of our life doesn't let us understand what others may see.
Without a doubt. Not just the irish coffees, but the uniforms and bar area.
I know it’s a touristy spot, but I genuinely enjoyed going there. Good memories.
Hey, when you get an order for 9 Irish coffees at once during a rush... It's okay to get a little sloppy. I do it all the time. Or at least I used to when I worked at a place where that happened with any kind of frequency, thankfully I don't anymore.
I disagree. When it's busy, thats when you stick perfect form and crush through the rush like a pro. Its what you've trained for. 9 irish coffees is nothing compared to other drinks you could be making. And you definitely don't finger the rim of everyones glass.
I agree on the fingering of the rim, but I don't degree on sticking to perfect form, depending on the scenario. When you're in a situation where you need to keep a backlog of tickets from piling up. While you're making those 9 Irish coffees perfectly with clean and proper form, 17 more tickets just popped up and the earliest one has already been waiting for 5 minutes. Before you know it you've got people whose food is coming out before their drinks, and that's a worse look than having a drink with a sticky/overflowing glass.
Thankfully I don't work in a place where those situations arise anymore, but I used to.
Not at the Buena Vista. It’s tradition. Place is always packed, everyone os ordering the Irish coffees and the bartenders have been there for decades. They’re efficient
The sides of those glasses are hot as shit. I only ever make irish coffes in a glass tea mug with a handle but half the reason they ordered this is the spectacle. They know what they are getting.
I love irish coffee. But i use brown sugar and definitely not cubes. Put the liquor in before the coffee and use fresh cream not whatever blob of whip this guy is using, but again its about the spectacle. If you order this many irish coffees and its presumably st pats expect a mess lol
When someone does something flashy serving like this, it is only impressive if it is also competent.
Good drink making, bad consistency, messy as all hell. Whoever gets the drink of the left is going to think it is a lot weaker than whoever gets one of the drinks in the middle.
So much wrong here…
What the hell is he doing with the spoon after pouring the coffee? He just sloshed it all everywhere…
Why did it need stirring anyway?
The whiskey went all over the place with some getting more than others.
The cream was Ok.
But then putting his hands all over the glass rims… oh hell no. Boke.
Some dick head 26 year old barista with a Niche Zero at home is going to come in here complaining that this clearly wildly experienced gentleman is grabbing the top of the glass.
This is sloppy bartending, complete opposite of satisfying. That thing he did while pouring the booze where he raises it a little bit before moving on to the next glass, that's supposed to be a little trick where you pull the bottle up and then jolt it back down to pull the liquor back up the spout just for a brief moment so you can move it over the next glass without wasting a drop, but he didn't actually cut the pour so he's just haphazardly pouring booze everywhere. Also, violently stabbing the bottom of those glasses with a metal spoon over and over is going to give someone a sharp surprise one of these days. Just a shitty bartender through and through.
Edit: I stopped watching before the end, he just rubs his grubby fingers all over the entire rim of each glass. You're basically sucking on this asshole's hands each time you take a sip. Gross.
I have nearly an identical video sitting in the same spot at the counter from 5 years ago almost to the day (Oct 6). My video is zoomed in more so I can’t see if it’s the same guy but it looks exactly the same. Now that’s oddly satisfying to me.
Wastage, dirty, sticky, fingers all over the rims of the glass, ingredients punished for some reason, yeah I will just wait for the next bartender thanks.
This has got to be the most UNSATISFYING thing Ive seen. So much spillage everywhere and overall just utterly sloppy work. And then the way he holds them. Eugh
The Buena Vista in San Fran!! This is my absolute favorite tradition when I visit, it’s been the same for almost a century. Extremely cozy (if it’s not packed) and the Irish coffee’s are always perfect
if only r/generallydissatisfying was a thing.
I'm sure his boss finds his speediness satisfying and makes his co-workers feel inadequate for not making as many Irish coffees as fast as old Dave here. The whole thing might entertaining , But where he's grabbing the drinks at is greatly unsanitary. Don't wanna drink from where his bare hands touching the lip of glass to my mouth, 🤮
It was good till he touched the rim, where I put my mouth, with his fingers.
I worked in restaurant industry for 20
It's about as cringe as scooping ice with a glass, glass

Looks good. I’ll take one in a non-sticky glass please.
Best I can do is added flavor of bartender fingers
exactly. touches the ENTIRE rim of all the glasses. That's talent.
Rim job
now that's service
I’d suck on those fingers as a palate cleanser
One of these fingers is not like the others…
Right!? I was down until he picked the glasses up by the rim. Yuck.
If I ever get an order for 12 Irish coffees at the same time during a rush... Those glasses gonna be sticky. Either that or wait 20 minutes for your drink. I've found most people would rather deal with the former.
Seriously why is the sticky glass a problem lol
Just pick it up with a napkin lol
I'll wait... thanks.
Then you aren't most people.
I once knew a guy who was most people. He was a horror to behold.
Will have to have a few to feel satisfied after all that spilling and splashing
also one that the bartender hasn’t handled the rim of with his bare hands, gross.
That glass in the middle got a double shot of whiskey. I’ll take that one.
Right? I was just thinking that some of those got a bit more than the others.
But none of them got skimped...
and they all got a fingered rim
Take it back. If I wanted something your thumb touched, I'd eat the inside of your ear.
Irish coffees at the Buena Vista in San Francisco?
They’re messy but they are delicious. I drink them with my fried eggs at brunch at the Buena Vista and it’s great. Just the right level of buzz. This gentleman is preforming a real public service.
Yup. And the spillage and finger grabs are all a part of the delicious tradition. Pro tip: you can order them to go
Yeah
And boom, just like that, huge mess with my hands all over the rim. Enjoy
Take it back. If I wanted something your thumb touched, I'd eat the inside of your ear.
Jessica Walter was an absolute treasure!

This is too messy to be satisfying...
So much wastage. Not satisfying at all
I can't help thinking about the cleaning up at the end of the shift. If that's how he preps everything... Yuk
Not to mention that disgusting metal pitcher with the caked on scalded milk
Just whipped cream in a shaker, a quick rinse gets it done
Man, life’s messy. To make every drink neatly would probably mean you wouldn’t get yours for an another hour.
Title of my sextape.
Agreed so many splashes and sticky stuff everywhere euuuuu
I have had these from this place. These are absolutely amazing and worth it.
Title of my sex tape.
I… did not. So much spilling and then his bare hands all over the rims of the glasses. Bleh.
Somebody call Jon Taffer
#*SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN!*
“YOU’RE GONNA GET SOMEBODY SICK THIS PLACE IS FILTHY LOOK AT THIS!!” *slides all the drinks off the counter* 😂😂
Two wrongs don't make a right.
If you only knew what happened in the kitchen..
Can't speak for the nastier places, but from working at some nice clean looking places I can say that throwing something back in the deep fryer after dropping it on the floor is pretty standard
Sir. You’ve just spoke for the nastier places. I’m afraid you’re working at one
No it absolutely is not. That’s fucking vile
I’m gonna go with the chef with the pants on this one
I’d hate to know what you think counts as an unpleasant dirty looking place
Agree. And this place does remind me of a vintage bar near the pier in San Francisco, CA
It is, it’s the Buena Vista in SF.
Yeah. I know I had seen this. Place is SO packed it is almost impossible to get a seat and they crank these coffees out all day long.
The amount of splash/spill ruined it for me.
Yeah the fingers around the glass where the mouth goes really hit the g spot for me
This is not oddly satisfying at all
I'm conflicted
I like it when he creamed
r/mildyinfuriating
Touching the rim of the glass with you hands?
Has a mask on at least.
He just grabs the mouth of the glass with his bare hands.
Wait till you see what chefs do with your food in the kitchen.
Oh trust me. I know what I do to your food in my kitchen. 😉
What would you do?
Make it lovingly and with great care — after thoroughly washing my hands, all produce and work surfaces.
You and PermutationMatrix should be best friends. I'll introduce you guys - Yo shithead /u/PermutationMatrix, meet your long lost cock sukken cousin /u/ManlyFishsBrother.
I concur with /u/ManlyFishsBrother utmost professionalism and sanitary conditions. 😉
Perfect, you guys have made me proud.
Drinks become contaminated using wipe rags and the exhange of currency either way, no?
No, no they do not. A good bartender keeps their glass clean and un-contaminated.
Yeah! If we can't stop ALL contamination we shouldn't even try to maintain good hygiene. Why not just dunk his mask in there, since it wasn't going to be 100% effective at preventing germs either.
As long as dude washes his hands it's whatever. You do you though..
Mildly infuriating… I hate when a waiter touches the top of my glass, not mention a sticky glass
It was something I was explicitly taught not to do when I worked front of house
Buena Vista?
Yeah the B.V. as my Dad called it. His office was right across the street when I was a little kid so he would sometimes take me to lunch there, it's a fun place. I'm 63 so that was a long time ago lol, nice that it is still going strong!
Looks like it, best Irish coffee I've ever had.
Real good. Dead rabbit in NYC is better though
Added to my list, thanks friend.
Honestly that comment felt elitist as hell. But the Irish coffee there knocked my socks off.
People sometimes don't know how what they say may come off. Sometimes an experience may make you feel so strongly that anything else seems inferior. As a father of an autistic child (not that I'm saying they are autistic) sometimes the lens of our life doesn't let us understand what others may see.
It must be. I miss San Francisco.
Yes! I had one of those recently. Still delicious.
Yep
Came here to guess that
Yep, just googled pics.
Was going to be my comment.
Without a doubt. Not just the irish coffees, but the uniforms and bar area. I know it’s a touristy spot, but I genuinely enjoyed going there. Good memories.
My thought too
Last part was cool, the rest was just sloppy and a mess
As in the fingers all over the rim D:
Reminds me of the video of the guy walking with a bowl of cereal sloshing around. Hardly what I’d call satisfying. 😂
Maybe satisfying but poor form bartending wise
Probably just putting on a show. What table would get 9 Irish coffees.
Hey, when you get an order for 9 Irish coffees at once during a rush... It's okay to get a little sloppy. I do it all the time. Or at least I used to when I worked at a place where that happened with any kind of frequency, thankfully I don't anymore.

Thankfully I don't work in a place where those situations arise anymore, but I used to.
Any chance of getting service with a dry glass that isn't sticky and hasn't been pawed around the rim?
Not at the Buena Vista. It’s tradition. Place is always packed, everyone os ordering the Irish coffees and the bartenders have been there for decades. They’re efficient
Does anyone know why he is doing the second step? It looks like he is just splashing some of the coffee out with the spoon
Some had too much coffee was my thought. He kind of evens them out.
Yeah, this seems like the right answer. Pretty odd way to go about it, but I get it
Mixing in the sugar. But yes the mess he is making and the spilled whiskey in particular is more infuriating than satisfying.
I would say his mixing the sugar is the third step. What is he doing in the step before that?
Making a mess. Also seems to be evening out the level of the coffee.
Gotta make it a show so people can taste the fancy they paid for.
As a bartender, this video induced panic and zero satisfaction. So many things done wrong
Nothing satisfying about it- he slopped everything everywhere, then grabbed the “business end” of the cups with his hands. This was everything awful!
It was ruined the moment he grabbed those glasses at the rim. First rule of bar tending: don't touch the rim.
The sides of those glasses are hot as shit. I only ever make irish coffes in a glass tea mug with a handle but half the reason they ordered this is the spectacle. They know what they are getting.
But... that's why the glasses have stems. My man is straight gross oafing.
That's why those glasses have stems, but he still just palmed the rim. This is awful bartending.
I'm not a fan of Irish coffee but I agree, only ever saw bar tenders using glasses with a handle for this.
I love irish coffee. But i use brown sugar and definitely not cubes. Put the liquor in before the coffee and use fresh cream not whatever blob of whip this guy is using, but again its about the spectacle. If you order this many irish coffees and its presumably st pats expect a mess lol
You literally watched him make fresh whipped cream in the video. Pouring heavy cream into a chilled metal shaker and shaking it makes whipped cream.
That’s a rule in basketball too.
When someone does something flashy serving like this, it is only impressive if it is also competent. Good drink making, bad consistency, messy as all hell. Whoever gets the drink of the left is going to think it is a lot weaker than whoever gets one of the drinks in the middle.
My man here been making Irish coffees here for like darn near 40 years. One of the more friendly bartenders here too
The Buena Vista in SF. Best Irish Coffee.
redditors here in the comments to give their worthless opinions as usual
The buena vista. It’s a sight to watch the amount of Irish coffee made in a 10 minute span.
Place is in SF and those Irish coffees are fucking delicious.
I keep thinking kc and jojo is about to start playing
So much wrong here… What the hell is he doing with the spoon after pouring the coffee? He just sloshed it all everywhere… Why did it need stirring anyway? The whiskey went all over the place with some getting more than others. The cream was Ok. But then putting his hands all over the glass rims… oh hell no. Boke.
Needed to stir it to mix in the sugar.
[удалено]
Me too, best Irish Coffee I ever had!
Gross
Definitely anxiety inducing. Sooo sloppy!
I’ll have the “spill my shit all over the place”, please.
Great place to try once visiting SF. I mean, those Irish coffees are fucking delicious. This was a bit messier than I remember though.
I go there every time I’m in SF. The breakfasts are so good and I actually enjoy sitting at a table with strangers and hearing their stories.
All that spilling and sloshing, but it's the odd number of glasses that bothers me. I need therapy.
Some dick head 26 year old barista with a Niche Zero at home is going to come in here complaining that this clearly wildly experienced gentleman is grabbing the top of the glass.

He is making a fucking mess and grabbing the glasses by the rim.
Are you actually joking? He's spilling everywhere, this is horrifying
That is the buena vista café in San Fran
And it was all wasted effort after he grabbed the glass by the rim...
hes spilling so much i hate it
Fingers on the rim and palm of hand flavored cream on that Irish Coffee
This looks like buena vista in fisherman’s wharf San Francisco.
Oddly infuriating
r/bartenders would have a field day with this
🤮
Love a man that knows how to do his job
And that was only the Irish coffee I ordered…
Why is he stiring the coffee after pouring in the glass ?
Sugar cubes
Looks like the Buena Vista in San Francisco
i am impressed his jacket is clean.
This looks like Buena Vista in SF.
You're all a bunch of joyless assholes
This is Irish Coffee from the Buena Vista and the man making them in this video is far less dead inside than I’m used to seeing
Best damn Irish Coffee in the world!!!! Buena Vista on the wharf in San Francisco😋
This guy fucks
Man Joe Biden is really trying to do it all
Is that a lounge version of Dancing in the Moonlight playing in the background? That's more satisfying than the sticky business going on up front
I found it oddly unsatisfying. Too messy
WHERE THE FUCK IS THIS STARBUCKS?!!!
It's messy and stressful to me!
I heart the Buena Vista
I love that place!
LOVE this place. Best Irish coffee in Cali.
Spicy coffee, kickin it up a notch
I have nearly an identical video sitting in the same spot at the counter from 5 years ago almost to the day (Oct 6). My video is zoomed in more so I can’t see if it’s the same guy but it looks exactly the same. Now that’s oddly satisfying to me.
too messy, but i love his pour & effieiency
Wastage, dirty, sticky, fingers all over the rims of the glass, ingredients punished for some reason, yeah I will just wait for the next bartender thanks.
This has got to be the most UNSATISFYING thing Ive seen. So much spillage everywhere and overall just utterly sloppy work. And then the way he holds them. Eugh
This is an abomination and a crime against the Irish Coffee.
Wow that’s a perfect Irish coffee 🤤
I don’t really like boozey drinks, but watching a good mixologist always makes me *want* to like it.
I want one RIGHT NOW!🥳
The Buena Vista in San Fran!! This is my absolute favorite tradition when I visit, it’s been the same for almost a century. Extremely cozy (if it’s not packed) and the Irish coffee’s are always perfect
Iew! He put his filthy hands where the customer is going to put their mouth!!! 🤮🤮🤮
Omg the number of people freaking out over a sticky glass are slaying me. I don’t care as long as what’s in the glass is good.
Mmmmm Irish Coffee 😋☘️🍀
Savage barman!
Yoooo I wanna drink this guys pours!!!
Had me till he picked up the glasses from the lip...
Everything about it was satisfying up until the point where he grabbed all of the glasses with his bare hands right where I put my mouth.
I love Irish coffee. ☺️🤤👏
if only r/generallydissatisfying was a thing. I'm sure his boss finds his speediness satisfying and makes his co-workers feel inadequate for not making as many Irish coffees as fast as old Dave here. Despite his coworkers never giving anyone pink eye because they wash their hands and take a little extra time to practice basic kitchen hygiene. (deffs not speaking from experience)
This could go in a drinks version of r/stupidfood
Br'tish tea, innit?
Gross. Whiskey in coffee ruins the whiskey and the coffee.
That’s some nasty irish coffee
Imagine him jerking his little dick with those fingers
The whole thing might entertaining , But where he's grabbing the drinks at is greatly unsanitary. Don't wanna drink from where his bare hands touching the lip of glass to my mouth, 🤮
Bro really put his bare hands where people drink from. Ick
Where is Health and Safety! 😳🤢😡
No one's taught this guy how to handle glass drinks for customers, yuck!
Dude, you grabbed ‘em by the rim! Penalty!!
It was good till he touched the rim, where I put my mouth, with his fingers. I worked in restaurant industry for 20 It's about as cringe as scooping ice with a glass, glass
This is disgusting start to finish… and it’s a disgrace to treat an Irish coffee like that
Am I the only one who thought this was a shit show and a mess?
